I returned an unopened box that was delivered too late to be useful, I paid a bit extra for shipping to make sure the product came 2 days before needed. It came 2 days late. The bill, with shipping was $42 + $9.33 for return shipping, so about $50. My refund was $21.48. They take no responsibility for late shipping, even keeping the extra fee and tax? I say this as there was no mention of 'restocking fee.' I guess they need to make a profit on every transaction, even when they fail you. Customer service is secondary.

    First Rockauto order for current vehicle was after my transmission stopped working. I needed a…read morefluid pump, torque converter, torque converter seal, transmission pump, torque converter solenoid, valve body. That was ten years ago. To this day, car is still going strong. All from rockauto parts. Other parts I ordered for my current vehicle are: power steering pump, power steering pressure hose, front sway bay links, front lower ball joints. Those orders were 4-8 years old. To this day, those parts are still going strong. All from rockauto parts. I was shocked to read some of the mostly negative reviews on here....UNTIL MY LATEST EXPERIENCES. First issue I had with a Rockauto order is they sent me the wrong power steering pump. I was ready to do the job. Then I looked at pump and realized that it was the incorrect one. So I didnt touch my vehicle. I contacted rockauto through their online system. They sent me a return label through email. I returned part. Once they got delivery confirmation of returned part, they sent correct pump. I got it. Installed it in vehicle. I think that whole process took about ten days. After installation of correct pump, I returned core. They credited my account for core. That was my experience with returning an incorrect item and getting the correct one. My current order arrived in one day. I used regular UPS. The reason it arrived within one day is it was shipped from a local warehouse in Pico Rivera. All items arrived in perfect new condition. Some were: Felpro oil pan gasket Motorcraft oil filter 3 Dorman oil pan drain plugs/gaskets (so I can have spares) 2 Walker upstream oxygen sensors (for bank 1 & bank 2) A separate order was a water pump If I wouldve bought these same exact namebrand items from Oreilly, Autozone, etc., I wouldve paid almost double what I was charged at Rockauto. But I would have been able to return them for a full refund if I received another cheaper brand in the box of the brand I purchased. Thats what happened with my water pump order. I ordered a gates water pump. But received a $15 cheaper US Motor Works branded water pump, with zinc-coated impeller. Gates water pump doesn't have zinc-coated impeller. US Motor Works part number is stamped directly on the water pump. Rockauto doesn't have over the phone human customer service. Which is ok. So I went through the returns menu on rockauto website. It still didn't want to issue a full refund. What is not ok is: They wanted to give me a refund of 1/2 of shipping costs with my part refund. So I emailed rockauto at the email support. They contacted me the next day. But said: "We apologize if the part you received is not what you expected. Sometimes manufacturers buy parts from other manufacturers and re-sell them as their own. In doing so, they declare the quality of the part worthy of their name and stand behind the product with their warranty. We understand it can be frustrating to find a different brand part inside the box, but please understand that we do not have control over manufacturer supply chains. If you disagree with the manufacturer's purchasing decision, you may return the part for a refund of the part cost...." Now they wanted to refund me the price for the returned part only. No refund on shipping for sending me a cheaper part thats listed on their website. The cheaper part was shipped inside the original box of the part I ordered! I cant believed they blamed their fraud on the manufacturer and claim that the manufacturer put another brand in the original box! Rockauto is definitely hit and miss. Ive been a customer for more than a decade. I got at least 10 free rockauto magnets on fridge. I never had an issue like this. But they chose to lose me as a long term customer in favor of sending me a $15 cheaper part in the original box of the part I ordered?
