The area is super sketchy. I like the younger guy and the girl but the older why was rude and dismissive. I'm learning about my car in my own. So I expect to be respected whenever I have a question. I was waiting in line for a bit and I just saw how they treated customers very differently. The elder gentlemen was not only rude and dismissive to me, but to the other customers as well. The younger man and woman were very respectful to all their customers. I would give this place three stars if I didn't deal with this elderly man on multiple occasions and seen the way he acts with customers. There was a guy in front of me who had an older battery with the brand Duralast and the guy right away was so dismissive of the guy because he accidentally said Duracell and wasn't even looking at the battery until the young girl mentioned it's Duralast. He instead started treating the guy like he's dumb because he said the name wrong. He said to the man oh Duracell is more like for a remote controls. That's not a thing. We don't have anything like that here. But if he took a second to just look, it's a Duralast instead of trying to just send him away. It would've been a lot more helpful. After having the worst experience at O'Reilly's, I came to AutoZone and had the BEST experience. The cashier who helped me went above and beyond. I told him I was looking for an affordable battery, and instead of pushing the most expensive option, he actually found one in my price range. He even offered to check my old battery first to make sure I really needed a new one. He came outside, tested my battery, removed it, and then installed the new one for me with no hesitation. He was so kind, even asking me to stand in the shade so I wouldn't be stuck in the sun while he worked. That level of care and respect meant so much. I went to purchase a battery. I wanted a diy experience since I don't really work on cars and a battery swap seemed fairly simple. I should have listened to the reviews and just gone to O'reillys. I had a manager Joseph B. helping me out. He seemed really distracted and mething around on his cell phone while I was trying to give him my car info. He walked away at one point continued talking on the phone. He was gone for like 5 mins I honestly didn't think he was coming back to help me. I ended up walking out and going to the O'reillys down the street. Idk how someone gets promoted with customer service like that. He needs managerial training and maybe a shower too. I went to this AUTO ZONE on Alum Rock and Jackson looking for a spray to clean my dash. I didn't find that. I did find SHOP PRO fuel injector cleaner and High Mileage fuel system cleaner on sale at 2 for $5.00. Normal price $5.29. ( see photo) I only needed one. I took it to the register. I wanted to give Thomas my phone number to add my purchase to my rewards account- he said he didn't need it! Has A-Z stopped that program? He rang it up at $5.79! I was expecting $2.50 since it was clearly labeled two for $5.(see photo) First- the price went up fifty cents from the shelf to the checkout. Then Marvin came over to tell me one was full price. I pointed out that their label did NOT state that I had to buy 2 to get the sales price. I wound up buying one of each for $5. ! I also asked about my 10% military discount. I called in from a commercial account, the experience started horribly. No greeting like showed in training, rude attitude, and no clear knowledge of what's he is selling, couldn't even understand I was giving him a part number (the so called commercial manager) had me on hold for 20 minutes, for a simple stock check. He even picked up the phone 3 times while I was on hold and asked what did I want. I thought maybe there just busy, as soon as I walk in he decides to start answering the phone. Ohhh boy did he curse out a customer saying very explicit language when even I understood what he was asking for. I was truly disgusted. He proceeds to finally help me and I repeat to him 3 times what I came for, keep in mind I had already spotted the order on the order shelf in the back. He clearly didn't know how to process a simple invoice, even I know he could have just fast invoiced it. Not to mention the other workers blatantly yelling curse words at each other like they were compliments. Definitely don't recommend this store not professional at all. I went in here to buy replacement bulbs for my car. One the lights had gone out. I asked the guy to look for the part for me and he put in the hatchback version of my vehicle. I'm not sure why. He showed me which bulbs were the ones to get and sold me those. I went to my car and checked on the AutoZone website if I had got the correct ones because my car isn't the same as the hatchback. The website said they weren't. I also checked on Amazon and it showed they didn't fit my car. I went back into the store and told the man that they showed as the incorrect ones. He said "I'm the sales manager, you think we look like we don't know what we're talking about but we do". He went against the system's information. I needed a battery for my car today, called around for prices and to ask if they would install it. One of the big chains said I needed a Toyota specific type battery close to $200, click no thanks. Called another place, they said drop your car off and we'll call you when it's ready. Not today. I called Auto Zone, told them what I needed and asked if they would change it out for me. Yes, yes and yes! I took my car down, bought my battery and the clerk swapped it out for me. Props for her awesome customer service and overall people skills. I needed to buy car seat covers and online it said this was the only store that had the one I wanted. So, I placed an order for in-store pick up. Received an email saying that it was ready for pickup. I live in Daly City and drove all the way to San Jose (about a 45 minute drive) to pick it up. Arrived at the store and one of the male employees couldn't find the item I ordered. He ended up calling his manager and his manager couldn't find it either and realized they didn't have it in stock anymore. If they didn't have the item I wanted they should have called me and told me that there was a mistake made on the website and that they didn't have that item in their store anymore instead of sending me an email saying it was ready for pick up. Waste of time and gas going there. I am giving two stars though because the manager was nice enough to refund me back my money and gave me a 10% discount on different car seat covers that I bought while I was there. read more

I've had to come in twice while the hubby was fixing my dad's car and I swear no one there had any idea what was going on. Totally worth it to drive a couple miles down to the Pep Boys. My car battery died on me so after jump starting it I went to AutoZone to buy a portable battery charger, just in case it happened again. Beto, the employee there that night, showed me their variety. After I explained what happened, he offered to check my battery. Than advised me to drive around a little longer and everything would be fine. Well everything did end up being fine. I bought a battery in June of 2013 only for it to die in December '13/January '14. I taken it to my local AutoZone on Story Rd that I bought it from. They said they would charge it and for me to come back later. I went back the next day and the battery was basically no good. I had a warranty so they said they would swap it for me. At the time they didn't have my particular battery necessary for my car. So they called this location on Alum Rock and found out they had it in stock. I drove the the store and everything got swapped perfectly fine, but when the associate brought out the new battery it looked different then the one I originally bought. I mentioned it to the guy and he informed me the battery is the same just a different size but will still fit. I then went home to install the new battery and come to find out it didn't fit.Sure enough the battery covered the hole that I needed to secure the battery in place. I tried different things to make the battery fit but nothing was working, there was no way I was going to be able to secure this thing. Being frustrated I decided to drive to my local O'Reillys and look to see if their batteries for my kind of car were the same size or different And GUESS WHAT?! This battery was the same dimensions that I needed in the first place. I went home, installed the new battery I bought and decided to call it a night and return the swapped battery the next day and get a refund. I went to AutoZone and told the guy about how my battery didn't fit. He swears up and down that they both are the same and it should fit. Obviously he knows since he tried installing it and I didn't. Continues to tell me that I wont be able to get a refund because its passed 6 months. He then directs me to the Store Manager that tells me the same thing. In the end I was only able to get store credit which is BS. These guys gave me wrong battery and refuse to somehow give me a refund. This isn't the only AutoZone i've had problems with. I will no longer show with these guys, and you shouldn't either. read more
