My bestie and I keep coming back because the dining experience here is just impeccable. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a modern twist - love the wooden accents throughout. Staff are always super friendly and welcoming. They check in with you just enough throughout the dining to ensure your dining needs are met, but not too frequent where it impedes on privacy. As for the food ... 1. Tvishi Wine (5/5) Semi-sweety, fruity, very light, and very pleasant. It's also chilled to perfection 2. Vahalla Fries (5/5) Fries that are fried perfectly - crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside ... the way fries should be. It's served with a side of Avocado oil Herb Aioli & Ketchup. The avocado oil herb aioli was very creamy and had a distinct taste that is reminiscent of something that I cannot quite pinpoint. Anyway, it's good. There's also an option to add truffle oil for another $3, which we wish we would've done. We were not aware it's an addition ... we thought it's already part of it until it came out and we were like "there's no truffle taste at all." Now we know - don't make the same mistake as us! 3. Greek Salad (5/5) Beautifully presented dish. It's a mix of fresh cherry tomatoes, diced cucumber, red onions, Kalamata olives, sheep feta cheese that's served with their refreshing mint-lemon Greek Vinaigrette dressing all wrapped in 2 large freshly-sliced cucumber. Comes with 4 Pita croutons, which were crispy, yet pleasantly doughy in flavor. It's soooo packed with flavor, yet light and refreshing. 4. La Fungi Pizza (4/5) We got it on cauliflower crust, which was thin and very crunchy. You can taste a bit of the cauliflower flavor of the crust, but it doesn't detract from the overall flavor of the pizza. The base of the pizza is tomato sauce. Not sure what cheese they use, but it had a very nice cheesy string pull when it was piping hot, fresh-out-of-the oven. It had a good mushroomy flavor and the figs added sweetness. Minus 1 star only because the fig jam on top of the fresh figs made the pizza a bit too sweet. We felt that either it could do without the fig jam or add a bit of spicy kick (like some red onions) to contrast the sweetness better. 5. There's A New Tariff In Town - New Zealand Rack of Lamb (5/5) The lamb was cooked to perfection; we got medium-rare. The lamb was coated with their home-made Pistachio Herb dressing, which paired perfectly with the lamb. It's light, yet slightly nutty and pesto-y. They were very generous with the amount of pistachios, which added crunch to the dish. It's served with a side of Cucumber Israeli Couscous Salad and Mint Chimichurri, which was vinegary, creamy and had a strong fennel flavor. 6. Swedish Meatball (4/5) 4 organic veal and bison meatballs that's served on top of a bed of mashed potatoes with gravy. It comes with a side of Scandinavian pickled cucumbers, which were sweet in flavor and sweet lingonberry sauce. There's definitely a gamey flavor to the meatballs, so keep that in mind when ordering this dish. The meatballs were a bit dry, but I think it's because it's made from lean meat. If you dip it in the gravy sauce, it helps. 7. Pistachio Ricotta Cake (5/5) Yummyy - a light spongecake with a hint of pistachio flavor. You can't taste the ricotta at all; it's mostly to add creaminess to the texture of the cake. It's not too sweet at all. Pairs well with a cup of cappuccino. Highly recommend this place!!! A hidden charm! Went here about a month ago and the food was prepared very well. A nice quality steak cooked perfectly medium rare. Restaurant provides generous servings. My recommendation: try the staple Scandinavian dishes! If my filet was as delicious as it was, I imagine the Scandinavian dishes are even better. I had the Spanakopita to start (filling but not heavy) and for my entree, the prime filet mignon (tender and juicy). For dessert, the pistachio ricotta cake (not my favorite). This is a hidden gem in the hills of Bel Air. It's a lovely trek up to their location, in an unsuspecting area but they have something special here. Everything about my experience was above 5 stars! The staff, the chef, the food, the ambiance- it all gels into an incredible place. To my own surprise, the steak was delicious but I fell in love with that falafel salad! But the steak was great, cooked perfectly and flavored with precision and the plates ate very intentional. The only item that didn't reach this high of a level was the tiramisu cake, it wasn't what I originally wanted but it was the next best option. What an intimate dinner! Nestled in the Bel Air hills, this locations feels isolated, but it gets busy with both locals, and those that traverse the distance. We tried the Greek Salad, the Antonia Salad, the Viking Kremet Filet, the Skadi Schnitzel, the Swedish Meatballs, the Citrus Miso Salmon, the Meaty Top Pizza, the Apple Pie, and ice creams of Affogato and Darkest Chocolate. Overall, 5 stars! Excellent ambiance, menu options, fresh ingredients, and for the most part great flavors. In terms of particular notes: I definitely enjoyed the Greek Salad over the Antonia. I'm not really a beet person, so when I say that it's decent for being beets, take that to heart. The oranges and the burrata on it were fabulous. If I could eat that Greek Salad every day, I would. The presentation was visually appealing and the dressing was perfect. Out of the entrees, we enjoyed the Viking Kremet Filet. The sauce was a bit flour-y, but there was a nice smoky depth to the meat. It wasn't as tender as filet mignon should be. The Citrus Miso Salmon was a bit on the fishy side, not too bad, though. The citrus miso was layered a bit thick, and it kind of coated the inside of my mouth, but it was nice and flavorful. The Skadi Schnitzel was a nice portion, battered and fried properly. The sauce on it was overpowering. The lemon and caper were very prominent in the sauce, and looking back, the schnitzel sauce probably would have done better with the salmon. There was also a piece of bone at the end of the schnitzel, so be warned if you try to cut through or chew that end piece. The Swedish Meatballs are not your standard fare. Strands of saffron were sprinkled on top of the meatballs. The mix of veal and bison made a fabulous meatball, and the sauce was perfect. The mashed potatoes on this dish tasted slightly different, but better, from the other plates, but maybe it was the sauce that helped. The Meaty Top pizza was good. Nothing spectacular about it, but the sauce was light and again, it had fresh ingredients. Everything we tasted had a comforting earthy essence. With desserts, the apple pie had a crust that texturally bordered on croissant level. The pie filling wasn't overly sweet and was a great wrap up to the meal. The ice creams were pretty good, however, they didn't have most of the flavors available that were on the menu. Our waitress (Hedieh, sorry if I misspelled her name) was wonderful throughout the meal and was knowledgeable about the wine options. We picked a deliciously jammy Georgian red wine. If you are going with 2 or more people, grab a bottle of wine and a few entrees and share the plates. Each one is palate pleasing unique and is good for a shared experience. read more

One word....Fantastic!! Such a wonderful dining experience at Ava Kro! We celebrated my wife's birthday here and enjoyed every bit of it. The food was delicately prepared with love. The scallops were perfectly cooked and accompanied by a delicious purée that was mouthy watering. I also tried the fall salad which had a very flavorful combination of ingredients that made every bite delightful. Great little neighborhood restaurant up at the top of Roscomare Road in Bel Air. Food and service were excellent. The menu had a mix of meat, seafood, pizzas and lighter fare. Our group had started with the Spanikoptia Dip, a bottle of Italian Sav Blanc and then order entrees including the burger, meatballs, shrimp pasta and cauliflower steak... all were done very well. The were also able to adapt the burger to a gluten free guest as well. The wine list is diverse with bottles from $30 to $375 and by the glass options. The ambiance is really great - lots of woodwork on the walls, ceilings and great decor. The seating was very comfortable and well spaced out. Large window also to the outside. Very unassuming from the outside - but what an amazing space ! Beautiful ambiance and the staff was beyond excellent. The hostess that evening (I didn't get her name unfortunately) was absolutely spectacular and charming ! The staff was very cool and on their game that night. We had an early dinner so when we arrived we had the place to ourselves for about an hour before the dinner crowd arrived. Amazing menu selection! The BEST Greek salad EVER !!!
