Came here on reservation this weekend and had a great time. Our server Lauren and the rest of the staff was fantastic- very friendly, attentive, easy going, and helpful. The restaurant is very small which made for a cozy atmosphere without being too loud. We tried plenty of dishes- escargot and frog legs were great; the butter and garlic that they cook the escargot in was awesome... it's butter and garlic after all. Frog legs were tender and the sauce they were served is was very good. The goat cheese/pear salad was fresh, and the french onion soup was also awesome- Not too salty at all. For entrees, we got the lamb shank and the lobster crepes. Both we delicious. The lamb was melt in your moth tender, quite literally falling off the bone. The lobster crepes were light yet rich and flavorful. To top off the meal, we got the chocolate soufflé which was heavenly. It wasn't overly sweet which is great since it was served with some vanilla ice cream, and chocolate/vanilla sauces. A great way to end the meal. Family get together and my cousin's favorite so we booked it. DeLICOUS food, great cocktails and wine choices and lively, vibrant atmosphere. We noticed a few different tables have cross conversation over their dinner choices, which made the atmosphere even friendlier. Lobster Fete on Monday and Tuesday is all you really need to know. Check their website for pricing, you won't find a better deal! Actually, this has become our favorite French restaurant in Los Angeles. Cozy atmosphere decorated like a little Parisian café right in the middle of Sherman Oaks. Service is always outstanding even when they're busy. Reservations recommend. Corkage varies, $20+ they've sometimes waved it if the bottle's really nice and you share a taste with your server. We usually start with a Lillet spritz cocktail and the fig and beat salad. Steak au poivre is my go to, the shoe string pomme frites are addictive. The lobster is on special Mondays and Tuesdays and my Yeobo recommends the fingerling potato side with this. I love this neighborhood French restaurant. It delivers consistently good authentic fare with friendly service and unpretentious attitude which makes it in my view far better than other nearby French restaurants. I love their extensive menu, like a Parisian brasserie, there's always something to everyone's liking. Went there last night to celebrate an occasion and had a great time. Service was friendly yet attentive, ambience was charming and refined but not stuffy and everything we ordered from the escargots to the steak frites, the chevre salad to the bouillabaisse was delicious. Le Petit is a little dream. I love everything about this place. The charming ambiance, the graceful service, and yes, most of all, the delicious food! The fish is always cooked properly. Their sauces do the French proud. Their selection is varied, fresh, and beautifully presented. We like to split everything when we go there, so we can enjoy more menu items. Last night we tried: the Goat Cheese Salad, which has a nice crunchy coated piece of soft cheese on a perfectly dressed salad; the Porcini Mushroom Ravioli (I believe it might have been the most delicious I've ever had and I've had a lot of Ravioli--and recently visited Italy--don't hate me Italian relatives); the Trout Almandine special (again, perfect); and for dessert a soufflé with vanilla bean sauce you're tempted to drink from the cup. And to top off a perfect meal, we had a pear dessert wine that was delicate, aromatic, and refreshing. Oh how I wish they were in Claremont! But Le Petit is worth the drive! read more

The ambiance is romantic and cozy, I'll give them that. Despite it being fairly empty on a Friday night (which is concerning), the service was disappointing. We had to flag our server multiple times even though there were more staff members than customers! The wine list was laughable. They hardly had any french wines not even sparkling! They were all subpar Italian or American. What I really noticed was how warm the wine was. Wine temperature makes a huge difference in taste. I felt like it was left out in the sun. I couldn't finish my glass. The actual food was okay. It desperately needed salt. There was such a sadness in the air despite the romantic atmosphere. Had a wonderful birthday dinner here! We brought a bottle of wine to go with our delicious meal. Corkage fee was $25 (not bad at all!!!). For apps we ordered the escargot, tartar de bouef, and lobster bisque. Main course was softshell crab (a special) and branzino. For dessert delicious chocolate and grand Marnier Soufflé. Came here for my birthday and it was pretty good! Honestly, the highlight was the fresh bread that they gave for free with their sides. My mom got the great lobster deal and it was so yummy with the melted butter and potatoes. My duck was super yummy but I don't think I enjoy tangerine flavor in my savory, but that's my preference. But I ate the whole duck and it was crispy! My dad got the lamb and he wasn't really a fan, but I enjoyed it because it had some skin that made it softer. I also liked the couscous. I had a very disappointing experience at Le Petit Restaurant. I walked in and asked the owner if there was a table for four people. He immediately told me there were no tables available. We then checked OpenTable and saw that reservations were still available. My friend made a reservation online, and it was confirmed immediately. When she went inside, the same owner welcomed her and even asked where we wanted to sit. When I asked the owner why he had told me there were no tables available just minutes earlier, instead of explaining, he simply told me to leave. Based on how I was treated compared to my friend, I felt that I was discriminated against. I cannot say for certain why I was treated differently, but the experience left me feeling humiliated, disrespected, and unfairly treated. I am considering speaking with a civil rights attorney to determine whether my rights under California law were violated. I hope the owner learns to treat every customer with the same respect and professionalism. read more

A really cute quaint restaurant. We sat outside which was nice. The food was very good and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. $$-$$$ Service was very prompt and they checked on us throughout the evening. We never felt rushed. There is valet parking as well as street parking. There was no wait to be seated. The whole atmosphere was a really nice vibe and I look forward to going back one day. Before visiting, I noticed review mentioning that the owner seemed to choose who to serve and sometimes claimed the restaurant was full despite available tables. I didn't pay much attention because I had a reservation. When we arrived, the owner was not particularly welcoming, although we were seated because we had a reservation. Unfortunately, the service throughout the meal was very disappointing. It felt like the staff gave much more attention to certain regular customers while other guests, including us, were largely ignored. The difference in how tables were treated was noticeable. The food was decent--about 7/10--but the poor service overshadowed the entire experience. Good food alone isn't enough when guests don't feel equally valued. Based on my experience, I wouldn't return. read more

My husband and I had the most magnificent experience at Le Petit on a Sunday when they usually don't open. It was a pre-fix menu with incredibly delicious dishes. My husband had the burgundy omelette, lobster bisque and the tiramisu...absolutely lovely. I had the duck pate, merguez and eggs and a delicious sorbet. We had the pleasure of dining with our family, a party of 12, last month. Everyone was extremely pleased with our choice of Le Petit Restaurant. The room was warm and cozy and our server was outstanding. He was very pleasant, knowledgeable and available. Despite being a large party, we were well taken care of. The food was excellent. I tried to get my grandchildren to try the frog legs and escargot without success, but we did try the duck mouse. It was flavorful and came with jams, nuts and little gherkins. My entree was the raviole which was in a wonderful gravy. My daughter had the duck that she liked. I tried it and I can see why. One of the highlights of the evening was a round of souffle that the grandchildren adored. I can't say enough nice things about this restaurant. Next time we are in LA we'll be back. read more

I had an accidental pleasure of walking into this restaurant and having the best experience. First, let me start off by saying that I've been on a hunt for crème brûlée for over a year now and I was at a point of just giving up really. The ambience is very inviting, I knew as soon as I sat down. I was really feeling the vibe inside the restaurant. I had no idea what to expect, but I want to definitely give a special shout out to Lauren my waitress/hostess for the evening as she was completely amazing and gave the experience a very top notch high level service with a splash of VIP treatment, and I was thoroughly impressed with how she really came through for me and making my birthday so special with having a traditional setting of the crème brûlée, toasted and torched in front of me for my viewing pleasure. The icing on the cake was when the whole restaurant started singing to me whom I am a complete stranger to all these people and to my surprise, even though I'm super introverted, and don't like any attention on me, I felt very valued in the moment. I also have to say that the owner of the restaurant Jay is completely humble and makes you feel like you're eating at home. Definitely a place for you all to check out and I know that I'm coming back because I took a look at the menu and there's several items on there that I have to try to next time. Though I did have a couple of their famous dishes. I don't have any pictures of because my whole thing for the night was crème brûlée so I'm posting that here for you guys to see. Wowwww this spot knocks it out of the park! I have been driving past Le Petit for so long! Visiting the Great Greek (also amazing) right next door for so long and I feel like I should have went here sooner!! This place has it all! Atmosphere, kind folks, delicious food, and a variety of cocktails! I had the lobster crepes after trying to decide what to have for so long since everything looks incredible and my wife had the sage pumpkin ravioli. These two dishes were top notch flavorful without paying top notch dollar. I love that the crepes came with a side salad!! Delicious salad dressing!! Fantastic wine!! And to end the fantastic experience, we had macarons to go that were delectable!! The atmosphere here is small, romantic, old cute Italian / French restaurant feel. The Christmas decorations are up and they're so cute! The staff was super friendly and the food came out so fast! Everything here was next level. My first visit, I sat solo at the bar and had the Croque Monsieur, which was excellent! While everything is pricey the food is top notch! My second visit to take my wife out to dinner was a bit different. The Butternut Squash soup, which is what she had come for, sold out during their lunch service. After the escargot she opted for the night's special! A double portion of Sole, which came with rice, perfectly cooked and brown beurre (browned butter) and was also excellent. However, for $115 entree I would have expected them to serve a vegetable, perhaps carrots, instead of just rice and filet of sole. My second martini evidently included "an extra half shot" according to the waiter, which he explained was the extra $8 charge for the beverage. Funny as I did not order an extra half shot-(what is a half shot anyway?). It all fit in the same size glass as the first drink, so should have had the cost removed from the tab. Rather strange. I recently had the chance to try Le Petit Chef and it was honestly one of the most unique dining experiences I've had. The concept is so creative, a tiny animated chef appears on your table and "prepares" each course right in front of you using projection mapping. We have been going to this restaurant for years. My advice would be to go on weekends where they have their grade A staff. We went on a Wednesday night and it was terrible. I ordered the Branzino fish covered with some kind of sauce. It came with rice (with carrots and peas) that was at best from a can or frozen. It also came with plain steamed vegetables.
