As full time residents in Delray Beach we hardly ever venture on the ave. Most of the restaurants are so bad and there are too many tourists. Avalon stands out. We had dined here before and came back for an early dinner. The service was impeccable .The drinks were strong and perfect. They serve warm bread with a honey butter that is amazing. The oysters were super fresh , Cesar salad was dressed perfectly. I had the lobster tagatelle and it was delicious and my husband had the rib eye which was seasoned very well. There is an exception to every rule and whoever said a steakhouse has to be dark and gloomy has been proven wrong by this bright Modern and Chic vibe of the Hottest, Latest and Newest Avalon Steak on the famous Avenue in Delray. Stunning contemporary bright decor is very welcoming and lively rather than dark depressing ambience at some steakhouses. We were greeted by a familiar Veteran Antonello Paganuzz that we recognized from the glorious fine dining days of New York at Le Cirque where we attended many wine dinners with famous Italian winemakers. Another veteran manager Diego Oppo leads the team hands on and used to host several oceanfront Wine dinners for groups in the past at a previous location. Diego is a true asset to Avalon. A full Liquor bar surrounded by gorgeous granite is well equipped with the best Elixir's on the planet with a full service menu for Happy Hour patrons. We started with the Hamachi Crudo App, that tasted as fresh as it looked. Tuna sashimi app had a good rich Fish flavor and the Pork Belly was mouth melting scrumptious without excessive fat. For Entrées, we shared the Angry Lobster that did not come out too angry in order to please all palettes, so we added some majic dust to take it to the next heat level. Other entrées included Dry aged Bone in New York Strip Steaks, which were cooked to perfection temperature wise however we prefer more of a Charred effect on our steaks but respected the restaurants philosophy of not over drenching the meat with butter to create a char effect. The Wine list was still undergoing fine-tuning to attain perfection but was more than adequate for the menu on opening night. The chocolate cake for dessert was very good and we would order it each time. Avalon is an upscale restaurant right on the ave! If you're looking for a well cooked seasoned meal and friendly service this is the place for you. Honestly the best fish I've had at a restaurant hands down. So delicately cooked, the texture was not dry but perfectly cooked. We also had the roasted cauliflower, it was good but for me I would have wanted just a little more flavor. Cauliflower is one of my favorite vegetables so I have high expectations. But by no means bad, it was good. My husband enjoyed his steak and the complimentary bread was good as well. He also had the steakhouse mushrooms which was very good. The Ambiance was nice, somewhat in between not quite cozy but certainly not tightly packed and uncomfortably close to other guests. We had an almost perfect meal tonight with Michael as our server. It's the kind of place I could see coming to regularly. From the first contact with the hostess, you see a well-trained courteous staff with NYC steak-house standards. We started with the cauliflower which was served as a whole head charred lightly on the outside and soft on the inside. It was plated with some type of sauce, maybe a basil cream, not sure. Would order again and highly recommend. We split a wedge salad with top-notch bleu cheese crumbles. Then on to two filets which hit the spot. They were cooked to our wishes and mighty tasty. We had the peppercorn sauce and the chimichurri sauce. I favored the peppercorn. They also offer a bernaise. The wine list is complete with some nice surprises. Then on to desert which, for us, was Proper Ice Cream - three tiny scoops, a little bigger than melon balls. This is the lost star for me. I'm a growing man. Michael was awesome. He seemed to always be there for us, knew the menu and made us feel comfortable. The ambiance is simple, bustling and vibrant. It was a nice crowd dressed anywhere from polo shirts to gowns and jackets. There was a good bar scene with pro bartenders. This is a good place for a date so long as you don't mind noisy and def a good place for a group or party. In back is a small, upscale club which we did not go into. Give this place a shot. Excellent steaks. Excellent service. BYOIC (bring your own ice cream). I forgot the bread -- I'm changing to 5 stars! It made up for the dessert. The house manager Kevin also made sure we were taken care of. We started off with the Caesar and beet salad. The main star of the evening was the Filet Mignon. Don't come here if you are a large party ... I called Avalon Steak and Seafood for a reservation on 3/12 (a month away) for 10 people. The hostess said she had to ask management and get back to me because it's a larger reservation. No problem. My husband called back today to touch base about my original inquiry, and the manager flat out said no. They don't take more than tables of 8 on a weekend. Are you kidding? For 2 extra people? How absolutely ridiculous. I'm hoping this can be resolved, but if not I will take my money elsewhere because of how unaccommodating they are. read more

BTW, they dont have Happy Hour, so be prepared to pay stupid prices for regular drinks. We had read reviews that said Avalon Steak and Seafood had excellent steak. I saw that they had a summer special prix fixe menu that was 3-Course Dinner Menu for $65.00. We decided to try it. The rolls were very good. Nice start! My husband had the caesar salad - a "bonus" was that it came topped off with a poached egg on toast! I had the ANGRY LOBSTER TAGLIATELLE - really delicious but definitely "spicy" and pleasantly surprised at both the large size of the salad and tagialtelle. We both chose the 7OZ NY STRIP. This unfortunately was the disappointment for our meal. Not at all tender. Taste was good but not a tender piece of meat. Again a large dinner plate full of food . TWO pieces of the steak . However my husband and I would have preferred being served just one of those pieces (instead of 2), that was a little more tender and less chewy. We both felt that the steak needed to be tenderized more before it was cooked. I know a NY strip is not the most tender of steaks but again , we would have preferred quality over quantity. However... the desert was a very nice "ending". The sorbet was outstanding and the cheesecake excellent. Service was "spot on". Our only disappointment was going to Avalon (a Steak and Seafood restaurant ) and finding that the steak was not a very tender piece of meat.
