Avalon treats their contractors awful. I will never do business with Avalon again. I've used them for almost every room for both tile and carpet and this is the last time. During installation discovered the pie set was damaged. Contractor was unable to move forward with the job without it. Contacted Avalon would take 3 days to get a replacement, so I agreed to swap out with a similar seat. Contractor was told by Sales Dept Mike to bring defective piece to the contractor area 7 am on Sat to swap out- assured they would be open. No one there, after waiting almost 40 minutes, unable to get anyone on the phone. In order for install not to be pushed out I had to accept a defective product. This is unacceptable and I will be seeking a refund of this piece, otherwise going to the BBB for remedy. read more

My project was a bathroom renovation. My husband and I received great customer service and assistance with selecting style and materials. Our chosen tile was not available in the warehouse. It took 4 weeks to arrive. We accepted that condition. We did not get a call at 4 weeks. We called to check at 5 weeks and were then told our tile and products had arrived. My contractor began installing our new bathroom. He noticed during the install that the salesman forgot to order the metal caping that borders the tile. Several corner pieces were ordered (and purchased) but not the actual caping border pieces. We did not want a delay due to this problem. My contractor went to the store hoping there was some capping available. He was treated poorly - in a dismissive manner. The original salesman was no longer with the company. The person handling the issue offered to order the parts from another store. It would take 2 weeks. There was no offer to speed the process - this was an oversight by the original salesperson! My contractor was told that he should slow down the job. This was unacceptable. My contractor decided to look for the parts elsewhere. He was able to find the parts at Floor and Decor. Worst experience with a remodeling place I've ever had. Pushed back our delivery date for our tile three times and never called us even once to tell us-- I had to call them and be surprised when they said it wouldn't be ready that day after all. Ended up waiting an extra three weeks for tile they said I'd have in two days. Did not keep in communication with us at all about the endless delays; just kept promising us dates for delivery then changing when I called to confirm on the promised day. Did very little to be proactive about keeping me as a customer. read more

Avalon Flooring and our sales rep, John LaTorre, were unbelievable! John spent a very patient 2 hours with us picking out tile for our master bath and kid's bathroom. He listened and provided some terrific suggestions. Their pricing was very competitive, and John kept us fully updated on timing of delivery. When one of our tile orders was slightly delayed (by no fault of Avalon's) John even offered to personally deliver it. I seldom see the level of service and professionalism like this anymore. We went to Avalon two weeks ago very early on a Saturday morning around 8:30am and as always we brought our 4 year old Pug with us. The store manager told us that the store does not allow dogs/pets and they have no insurance. I offer to pick our dog up and hold on to him but still this was not good enough for the store manager. After infuriating us, we left and will never return. I have been to the Philly Avalon show room and have not had this experience. So, we drove to Ideal tile and had a great experience and will buy all of our floor tile and counter slabs from them for our renovation project. This guy at the Cherry Hill location should be fired. He was not customer friendly and tarnished Avalon's reputation. read more

We have used Avalon for the past 18 years. Selection is second to none and Pamela has been my sales person for many years. Have done many projects both residential and business and have always had a great experience. If we had a problem they would see that it was corrected quickly. Everyone from the estimator to Installation has always been professional. Pamela is very knowledgable and terrific to deal with. Will be back for another project soon. Ordered an area rug and runner, which they said would be delivered in in two weeks. I called then, was told it was now expected in four weeks and that they would let me know when it came in. No call, I then found it would take an additional four weeks. When I asked that the order be cancelled, they told me they would email the company and let me know. Again, no call - not form the sales person or the manger when I checked back. After the fifth attempt, I finally found someone who confirmed the order was canceled, I've had better service from the DMV. NEVER GOING BACK. read more

TL;DR: Need help figuring out what you want? Ask for Dayla. Avalon Flooring has a great selection and helpful, responsive staff. If they install your carpet, make sure you closely review door thresholds. My wife and I have been to Avalon Flooring (Cherry Hill) several times for two different renovations. Dayla is the epitome of a great salesperson. She spent time getting to know us, our taste, and our project. She's super knowledge about the materials, their installation and maintenance. She gave us a good overview/tour of what Avalon had to offer and gave us space whenever we needed to look and talk amongst ourselves, and intuitively knew when to come back to help us with details (quantity, grout color, etc.). Despite having left and come back a few times (mulling over options) there was never a hard sell or any pressure to make a decision. The few times we had to call or talk with someone in person who wasn't Dayla there were no problems m. We preferred to work with her, but our business was with Avalon and their sales and customer service staff understood/practiced that. Our most recent project involved carpet installation. The installers were very communicative before and during the installation. They were very quick and exuded confidence through professionalism, but were maybe too quick? A few days after they left we felt like door thresholds and interface with another carpet could've been done better (like 8/10 instead of 10/10). ... The kind of thing you only notice after a while. As a follow up to my recent review, I wanted to share that Avalon made GOOD on their promise by finding a middle ground with the situation. After several phone calls back and forth, with 2 sales managers that were VERY PROFESSIONAL and KIND, Avalon decided to take ownership on their mistakes: not properly setting up the room keeping the dust at a minimum, the broken dishwasher tubing, and the demo job of the wet bed in the kitchen. All the financial hardships were taken care of and they did so promptly and kindly. I am VERY APPRECIATIVE when a company stands by their work, good or bad, and takes responsibility for what is needed with their actions! I felt it was IMPORTANT to follow up with my review and share how this story ended! read more

We are renovating our basement. We wanted to install tiles instead of carpet. We heard about Avalon Flooring from our friends. I must say very pleased with the service. I will rank each area. Product: Porcelain tiles. We liked quality. Probably 5 had slight broken corners out of 50+ box. You get what you pay for. Rep told us any broken tiles he will replace it for free. Customer Service: Excellent. Ron I appreciate your help. Unlike other sales rep you were very polite, prompt and helpful. You helped us identify right product that suits our budget. Sales Rep Product Knowledge: Very good. Well trained, good knowledge about products, helpful staff. Delivery: After we paid. Our order was ready in less than 2 hours. I had a wonderful experience at the cherry hill store. I have been saving for years for a bathroom project. I had pictures, ideas, dreams and was never able to commit. I met with Alexis and within one hour, everything was picked out!!!! Alexis is very straight forward and knowledgable. She was clear on my taste. She was clear on what would work and what would not. My experience with Avalon Flooring in Cherry Hill, NJ has been nothing but positive. When another Avalon location misquoted the price and delivery date on flooring, the CH location still honored their mistake - although they didn't have to. The CH location has the best selection for tile and flooring and I can always find many different options. Their prices are competitive and they often run sales. I've worked with the same salesperson (Andrew) on several projects and he has always been prompt, accurate and easy to communicate with. I've never felt pressured working with him. My family and I bought carpet at this store and had a very negative experience. The sales people show you a sample but the actual product that comes to your home is not the same. And the cost is too high for the quality of what they call top quality wool carpeting. The carpet that was installed(1 year ago) is already pilling and shedding. Eventhough my family and I got a credit for the trouble this company caused use, I think the sales staff and management need to respect the concerns of their customers. I would suggest this store do the following: 1) Make sure the sales people are in direct contact with the warehouse or carpet mill 2) Have the delivery people who are better informed about the products they are installing 3) Don't have sales people deny that what is delivered is exactly the same as what's in the store. 4) Any additional credit that can be given to us would be appreciated. We recently purchased carpeting from Avalon to redo our upstairs bedrooms and one hallway. I would advise knowing what you want before going into the showroom. Not only is it overwhelming with so many choices, but the prices can vary widely, although they are competitive with other local dealers. We chose Karastan brand because we've used it before and it lasts forever. Our installation was to take place over two days at our request. When the first two bedrooms were finished and we noticed tiny marks all over the new carpeting, we immediately returned to the store with pictures and a remnant on which there was a similar mark. After looking at it, the manager (Bob) promised to contact the manufacturer and get back to us within a day or two--which he did. Turns out, the manufacturer agreed that the carpeting was defective, Avalon ordered a whole new bolt, and set up a new installation date for a few days later, on which they ripped up the defective carpet, and installed all new in the entire upstairs. We were impressed with their professionalism and the efficient manner in which this problem was handled by all involved: Bob, Amy, Karen, and the two installers. What could have been a consumer's nightmare was resolved to our satisfaction. read more

I have been in this location twice now with not a single sales person ever offering to help me. I was in that last time looking at tile. I was pulling sample boards, walking over the entire area and not once did anyone offer to help. I even stood at the counter waiting while FOUR employees talked about fantasy football and weekend plans - never even looking up at me! So, I took photos of what I liked and went somewhere else and spent $4,000. Thanks for nothing Avalon Carpet and Tile. I plan to never shop at Avalon again. Although they have a nice selection of tiles, the service fell far short. I originally went to the store in Philadelphia; the woman who helped me there was wonderful, very knowledgeable and interested in helping me find exactly what I needed. When I didn't find the right tile there, she showed me some additional items online that were in the Cherry Hill store. There, I did find tile that I liked, but the salesman who 'assisted' me was apathetic, bordering on rude. He acted as if I was disturbing him by asking him to do his job and answer my questions. I ended up looking around myself and found what I liked. When I put the order in, he told me it would be 1-2 weeks for arrival. After 2 weeks and no word from them, I called - only to be told they didn't know when the tile would arrive but it was now likely the second week in September (the order went in August 9). The person I spoke with said she would call me once she found out the exact date (she didn't). I needed that info, as I was trying to schedule my contractor for the work. After another week of silence, I called again; still no date for arrival but - again - she would find out and call me back within the day (she didn't). I called AGAIN 3 days later - to be told the tile had arrived. No insight as to why they couldn't pick up the phone and call me, but there it is. Poor communication, bad attitude, rude telephone manners. I'll avoid them next time. read more

I went to Avalon flooring to get an estimate to replace carpets for my entire house. I found the sales women be very rude. When I asked the saleswoman on how much the installation charge would be she told me .99 per square feet. When I mentioned that I got other quotes that include free installation the saleswoman make a very sarcastic comment stating "what are these people working for free? What is your bottom line?" I was like it's much cheaper than your quote for the same carpet you're trying to sell me. I would not recommend using this company for their poor sales staff and also for the fact that they hire contractors to install the carpet. Find a company that uses their own employees to install. This way if there's any problem with the installation you can deal with the company directly and not have to be told " we didn't install this go back to the contractor." read more

I went in yesterday with my infant daughter- store not busy at all. I was in the hardwood flooring section for 35 minutes looking at different options. Sales clerks passed me by numerous times and never once did anyone ask if I needed help with anything. I was reluctant to use Avalon based on previous reviews regarding bad customer service. However, knowing they had a large selection of luxury vinyl tile that I was interested in I decided to give them a try. I went into Avalon with my measurements and pictures of the two area's in my house that I was looking to replace. After discussing various vinyl selections with a sales person I made my decision and asked about pricing. They said Avalon offers free estimates if I would like to set up a time. I agreed and scheduled a time for the estimator. I was contemplating whether to have Avalon or myself lay the flooring so I wanted two estimates (one estimate with labor and materials and another with just materials). The estimator came out on a Thursday morning and measured the two areas. I called my sales person on Friday night to see if I could get the estimate. Unfortunately they didn't answer and I left a voicemail. I didn't hear back during the weekend so I followed up with an email on Monday morning. I was told my selection was on back order and if I wanted to proceed with another product or color. At this point, I knew I wanted to keep the same brand but would change my color selection. I asked if I could still receive my estimate since the materials would be the same. I was given an "estimated" total for the project via email. I thought the estimate was quite high so again I asked to see the estimate. I was told "our estimators have the estimated details of your home and they are not disclosed until a contract has been finalized"????? How can an estimate not be disclosed to a buyer prior to signing a contract? What is so secret about an estimate? If I'm spending the money than I want to see all the material and prices involved. I was absolutely floored by this comment. During this back and forth communication with Avalon, I decided to contact other retailers who carried the product. They were able to come out quickly and I had an itemized estimate down to the penny within one day. Not only was the estimate provided to me with exquisite detail but it was several hundred dollars cheaper than the Avalon "estimate". While my current project might not be the largest job, a sales person should ALWAYS want to establish a strong relationship with the customer so they would use Avalon Flooring in the future. Maybe my order wasn't large enough for anyone to care. This seems not to matter at Avalon. I'm extremely disappointed in the customer service and regret ignoring other bad reviews. I have shopped at many of the Avalon locations and find them all very helpful and knowledgeable. The reason why I continue to buy from them is their customer service. I had a flooring product issue and it was professionally addressed as a product warranty issue. The flooring was removed and replaced with such incredible care that I wish these men built homes! The floor is beautiful and a constant reminder that there is no better place to shop for your home flooring or tile. Their warranty is incredible. Do not have any other tile installers- Avalon guarantees their own installs- which are perfect and if there is a product issue- they will treat you more than fairly. I purchased laminate flooring less than a year ago. I made multiple complaints 2 months after installation because the floor started to blister. The installer returned to my home and replaced some boards and advised me that the laminate floor was defective. I continued to see additional blistering, so I asked to have my floor replaced. My claim was denied, although water damage was not detected during the inspection by 2 of Avalon's claim inspectors. I would not recommend Avalon for flooring or installation , they will not stand by their product. read more

We had a truly great experience buying bathroom floor, and wall tile at the Cherry Hill, NJ Avalon Flooring store. Our sales representative is named, John Latorre. He was warm, knowledgeable, patient and extremely helpful. I was a bit overwhelmed by my choices and he patiently asked questions and provided the needed guidance. He also saved us money by explaining what did not need. On this rainy night our car would not start. The entire staff engaged to try and help us. Finally John drove us home. Had avery disappointing experience with the Ocean City Store. I have purchased a lot of merchandise from Avalon in the past 4 years. Rugs, flooring, blinds, tile. This last purchase of several area rugs was extremely frustrating and disappointing. Rugs are falling apart after 2 weeks of use. I was told it was my fault because I used a beater bar vacuum on carpets, never given any special care instructions when I purchased rugs. Perplexed as to why Avalon would eventually replace 2 of the 5 rugs under the pretense that it was their decision to make situation right. It still isn't right !! I still have 5 rugs that are falling apart and will need to be replaced. These rugs are under warranty and Avalon has not done the right thing!!!!!!! read more

Huge selection of pretty much everything that has to do floors. We bought tile for our kitchen and the salesman was very helpful. When we told the salesman we wanted to do the work ourselves he showed us what was in stock (which seemed like everything). He was very nice and he answered every question we had. The only issue was when we went to pick up our tile. The wall tile we picked out did not match what was on our receipt. The kid (he looked 18) that got our tile for us pointed it out. He got his supervisor who fixed everything for us. The supervisor even pointed out that tile that we picked out was a little more expensive then what our salesman put on the order and didn't charge us the extra because of the mistake. The whole experience made us feel like they cared about us. read more

I will NEVER shop at Cherry Hill, Avalon tile again. I went in there knowing nothing about flooring. I relied on their salesperson to guide me in the right direction. I specifically told the sales girl that I had 2 small children and 2 dogs. I needed a durable floor that was going to take a beating. I ended up being sold a beautiful HIGH GLOSS laminate wood floor for 3 rooms which were high traffic areas. It was beautiful but very quickly I realized it was not conducive for my situation. It showed every mark and smudge from kids and dogs. I could not keep up with the maintenance of the floor and was so embarrassed to have company over because it constantly looked filthy. Avalon came out to look at the floor and blamed the marks and scratches on me! The best they were going to do was give me $1200 or so towards a new floor. This did not include installation and the fact I paid over $2000 + installation for the original floor. I was not in a financial situation to spend the extra money at the time. The floor was been a nightmare every day and I'm still angry I got duped by their sales girl. BEWARE and do not rely on them for proper information. Anyone that wants to see pictures of my floor, I will be happy to show you. Note- I called the manufacturer of the floor and they told me this floor was for a non-high traffic area like a DINING ROOM. read more

Not only is he an artist and extremely talented at what he does he made this experience wonderful. The installation was seamless (no pun intended) and we could be happier with the finished product. After reading numerous reviews, we were very hesitant to choose Avalon for our carpeting project in our finished basement. However, we found everyone at the store to be pleasant and helpful in every way possible. Initially, we just wanted to look around and the workers gave us our space to do that, but they were also close by to assist when necessary. Our eventual sales lady, Janet, couldn't have been more helpful, ordering numerous samples for us which arrived only a couple of days later. We shopped around for overall costs and found Avalon to be quite competitive while having the best selection anywhere. The one comment from others that also posed a concern for us was the fact that you did have to put 90% down at the time of ordering the carpet. But not to worry, we had someone come to measure, the order was placed, and a couple of weeks later the carpet was installed, exactly as promised, all before our credit card bill even arrived. So, as for us, we certainly have no problem giving Avalon in Cherry Hill a very nice rating. The store, sales personnel, and the installation were all highly satisfactory! read more
