I've been hearing a lot about Aveda from friends and coworkers. I can't say that I'm very familiar with their products. I have used them before at hotels and spas. Never owned any myself. I stopped in on Saturday afternoon - I heard they sometimes have staff who can do braids or touch ups. Upon entering the store I met Emily. She was welcoming and inquisitive as to why I stopped by for just a braid. I admitted to being a poor french braid-er and asked for some help. As she began to braid my hair, she introduced me to many of their products. She also took a photo of my scalp - this special camera/device shows customers exactly what their roots look like! Pretty darn cool if you ask me. My photo revealed that I had buildup and open pores around my hair follicles. Emily was able to recommend a treatment system that would help with my needs. I also received a birthday gift since July is my birthday month. I'm happy that I made time to check this new spot out. I can see how one can become addicted to this store. read more

Always passed this store and wanted to try the various hair care products here. After getting my hair colored with Aveda product, at a local salon, I was thrilled with the results and thought I would supplement my new color with some Aveda hair products from their retail shop. Very tiny space, but not many people wander in here. Free tea and friendly workers. They were helpful when I told them how I wanted my hair to look and what results I wanted out a of leave-in conditioner. Pricey but the supply lasts you a long time. You only need a tiny bit of whatever you're using. I bought a leave-in conditioner two months ago and have barely used half of it-a pea sized amount is really all you need. I like the natural smell of the products and I now know exactly what to buy when I step in here. They also have a frequent buyer program and a special "gift" on your birthday. read more

I have been using aveda products for 20 years. On Dec. 30 at about 10:30 AM, I went to the Walnut Creek store on Broadway Plaza. The door was locked! No hours were posted. When I got back to my car a few minutes later, I called to find out what the hours are. An associate answered, and told me that she was the only person there so locked the door to use the bathroom. This really is not acceptable! Could the employee at least have put a note on the door? I would have waited if I had known. read more

I love this store! I went in here after my coworker told me to get some lotion and soap, to become more chemically free and I was surprised by the array of products in the store. I was looking awful the day I went to buy stuff, and one of the workers offered to put some product in my hair and test out the makeup. I was so impressed with the hair products for my curly hair, that I got some of the products from the curly line. The downside of this store is that everything is pricey, so I definitely have to spread out my purchases, otherwise I would go broke at this store!! read more

My sister and I were just cruising around down town Walnut Creek one afternoon and stumbled into the Aveda store. The moment we walked in, the pleasant girl that worked there offered us a sample of their 100% organic, sugar free herbal tea. OH MY GOODNESS!!! It was the best tasting tea we had ever had. That automatically intrigued us, and made us pay attention to all the other things they had to offer. She gave us a brief history about the company and explained that they are animal friendly and all natural. She didnt high-pressure sell us on anything, but did offer to give us a free make-over. We would have if we weren't pressed for time. Just spending a short time in the Aveda store made me want to come back when I was ready to spend some money and just splerge! So deffinately try the herbal tea. It's DELICIOSO! Eventhough it costs $14 for 20 tea bags, it's worth every penny. Also, she asked me if i wanted to save a bag and hold on to the tea....I thought that was different but refreshing. Very inviromnentally friendly of them:) read more

So I love this little store!! I was just shopping around Broadway plaza and decided to check the store out. I hate my current conditioner so wanted to try something totally different. I went in and was immediately greeted by this super friendly employee which automatically made me want to stay and look around the products. She was very helpful with her suggestions and I ended up buying some great products! She even pampered me by sitting my down in this chair, gave me a quick shoulder massage and put some dry remedy oil in my hair (it really needed some TLC!). At the end of my purchase I even ended up joining their rewards program for $10. Not bad since the rewards sound pretty awesome! They definitely earned a new customer that will be coming back for more amazing products (plus everything smells wonderful!). read more

I've been buying Aveda products forever, back when they still had a store in the Sunvalley Mall. Aveda has always been a place where I buy gifts for other people and never really had tried the products myself, unless I got a sample (I do love and buy their tea). That being said, I have felt on more than one occasion that I was not being treated fairly by some of the staff. I remember distinctly buying over $100 worth of products and not being offered one sample, meanwhile some other customer who bought 1 small item was given a sample (and no she didn't have a special sample coupon). I don't visit Aveda frequently, but having to go in there the 2 times a year that I do, to buy things, has always been an ordeal for me. I know this place is a boutique store and they keep the business going by selling, but sometimes they're just too much. They always try to sell me things that I'm not interested in or constantly remind me about double points and to not miss out, buy everything I need, etc. It's really not a good experience. I would have honestly given this store 1 star because of these interactions, but last week I went in for a free travel size hairspray and met Emily. She didn't judge me, with her eyes, give me my sample and disregard me, like many have done in the past. She was warm, sweet, and very friendly. I asked her about products and she was completely engaged in our conversation. I may not look like I belong in Walnut Creek or can afford the expensive items in Aveda, but Emily made me feel like a person and I hope she is recognized for it. read more

OMG! I love this store! Their products are animal free tested products, at least 90% certified organic and are amazing! I have been an Aveda fan for a very long time! I made a special drive out to Walnut Creek Aveda to try out a new hair product that I read about in Shape magazine. I read that certain Aveda stores had samples that you could get, if available. I called up and spoke with a young woman, who was extremely helpful. She filled me in on the hair product that I was interested in and told me that they did have the samples there. I decided to go check it out! Of course, by the time I left the store, I had purchased the entire line of the hair product. I also purchased a body scrub, moisturizing lotion, herbal tea, and a candle for a charitable cause. There was no pressure sales. I was just in the mood to shop and pamper myself that day. LOL! Besides, there was only one lady in the store to help me, and as knowledgeable as she was, there were other people in the store as well. One sales clerk to handle all the customers that walk through the door can be a bit much! The young woman at the store was very helpful and knowledgeable about their products, as I have found in most Aveda stores. I love that about Aveda staff! They all seem to be very familiar with their products. Aveda is also a very organic and environmentally concerned company, which produces amazing product lines for your hair and body. I have always been a huge fan of their hair products. They are not cheap, but they are definitely very good! You get your monies worth with their products! I have always recommended Aveda products to my friends and family and have turned them on to the wonderful things that Aveda products can do for their hair. I tried to go in and I am so done. I guess I will stick to pureology and philosophy for all my needs since I am VERY disappointed. I went to this place a few months ago and was completely ignored. I had a hand full of items and three people working there helping one person. After standing there near the cash register for a couple of minutes, I put down all 4 bottle and left. Yet they helped someone who came in AFTER me. There was only three customers in the whole store (including me). Second chance - OK so I decided to give it a second chance. I went again and was not greeted but the two parties after my were greeted. The lady went around offering tea or water (no sure) to people EXCEPT me!!!! I was in there for over 10 minutes and never once acknowledged and I left a SECOND time without buying a thing. I guess my near flawless 1.2kt diamond ring is not large enough or was it my designer jeans that I was wearing was not the perfect brand?? But apparently my money is not good enough for this place. I will not be back for a third time. read more

Small store, staff will offer you tea (free of course). Their products are similar to origins when it comes to all natural products and lots of them. They have Aveda salons in Sacramento but I still haven't seen one anywhere else. My best friend came with me and she pointed out their Eye Definer in black which is $15 and she says it stays on and works wonderfully. It is uber small though so I'd probably wind up buying elsewhere. read more

I went to this store for the first time today, b/c my hair stylist recommended their Bee Curly Hair products for my 3 yr old daughter. I haven't tried their products yet, but the staff was very friendly, and as other Yelpers said they offered me some wonderful tea as soon as I walked in the store ( and I'm not even a big tea fan!). The saleslady took me right to the products I was looking for and even gave me a hand massage before leaving. All in all this store has great customer service, and I've heard Rave reviews about their products, and I may just have to purchase that non caffeinated super yummy tea! read more

I went in there today to pick up shampoo, and never expected to get my hair styled and offered a free facial! It was the perfect balance between professional, and a very comfortable laid back, environment. I came in to buy one thing, and left with 4. This is a wonderful little peaceful store in Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek. It is lovely to look at and the staff is warm, knowledgeable, kind and very helpful. I come here two or three times a year to stock up and find new things. Today I observed them deal with a rude, nasty customer. They were calm and polite. I would have liked to slap the silly little woman but the staff was utterly professional. Great products. Great service. Great store. read more
