Pub burger

Came here today with family for lunch. The staff was friendly and helpful they took our orders quick and got us our food in good time. The place is a really neat old brick building with a bar and some tables set near the walls and windows. It's almost like stepping back in time. I got the pub burger and fries which was very good. The bacon and mustard on the burger was really complementary with the well cooked burger. My only complaint was I wish there were a bunch of small fried onions instead of 2 big circles. A very good meal

Food was delicious with fresh ingredients. Best burgers in town, but I decided to go a lighter route this time. Had the Strawberry Goat Cheese Salad with chicken added as my protein. Also had an order of the Hot Garlic Thai Wings. Everything was delicious as expected. A cold beer to accompany my meal was just what I needed on this hot sunny day. Ate outside on the patio with riverfront views. Walk up counter service to order but food is brought out to you at your table. Walk up bar service. Staff at restaurant and bar were both friendly and efficient.

Finally back open on the same street as the Italian fest. Just as good as ever. Best burgers in the tri state area.

The best burger in Wheeling! Small place but you definitely are sitting in a gem that will not serve some thing that isn't delicious!

Seemed like a nice place, but search says it has gluten free options and all they could offer was corn tortillas and a salad.

One of the best spots in town for a vegetarian. Tempeh tacos and black bean sliders for the win. The fries are always tasty too!

One of the biggest reasons we chose it was because they advertised a dog-friendly patio. Before being seated, my husband specifically went inside to speak with the hostess because rain was expected soon. The hostess acknowledged the forecast, and my husband said we were completely fine sitting under the patio umbrellas as long as the restaurant was okay serving us outside. She assured us that it was not a problem. We were seated on the patio and intentionally looked through the menu quickly because we wanted to minimize the server having to come outside in the rain. When the server came out, she immediately commented about the weather and was clearly upset about having to serve the patio. We were sympathetic and tried to be as easygoing as possible. What happened next was honestly bizarre. She pulled out her notepad and just stared down at it without saying a word. We ordered drinks and then sat there in silence waiting for any kind of acknowledgment or follow-up like, "What would you like to eat?" After about 15 awkward seconds, she finally looked up visibly irritated. I ordered, she wrote it down without saying anything else, and then stormed back inside. At that point, we decided we no longer felt welcome. We brought the waters back inside and told her she could cancel the order. Her response was simply, "Are you sure?" The entire interaction consisted of maybe six words total from our server. We later called to let the manager know what happened. While they did apologize, the only solution offered was for us to place a to-go order instead. That completely missed the point. We weren't looking for free food or special treatment -- we just expected basic hospitality after being explicitly told they were happy to serve the patio despite the weather. This entire situation could have been avoided if the restaurant had simply told us upfront that patio service during the rain was an issue.

I'm usually somewhat hesitant to eat fish in a landlocked state, but I gave it a go once I saw the long line of people that overflowed from the entrance of Coleman's. All of these West Virginians standing in a queue can't be wrong, right? The restaurant is tiny and is a to-go joint only. It's located in Centre Market in downtown Wheeling, so once you get your food, you can wander around the market to find a table, or split and take your food elsewhere. Once you enter Coleman's, you'll see two lines: one is just for basic orders, like sandwiches, and the other one is for special orders. But you can order basic things in the special line, I think? I don't know -- I just got in the first line I saw and ordered a fish sandwich. There were a lot of locals there who looked like they knew what they were doing. It would be wise to ask someone what to do, if you're unsure. The fish sandwich is literally just a big piece of breaded and fried white fish between two pieces of white bread. If you want anything else -- sauce, coleslaw -- you need to order it separately. But I didn't know what I was doing, so I just got the dry sandwich by itself. If I were to do it again, I'd order the deluxe fish sandwich, which comes with "sauce" (I have no idea what kind of sauce because Coleman's doesn't feel the need to disclose that information on its menu), and then I'd order coleslaw to add to the sandwich. The fish? It was excellent. Nicely fried but not greasy at all. The line was long but moved pretty quickly. While I was in line, I heard other people repeatedly order egg rolls, so of course I had to get one. It turns out that the egg rolls here are just egg rolls and nothing special -- like the kind you get at Costco. But! They only cost a buck fifty, so if you're in need of a cheap snack, there you go. You can buy live lobsters here, too. They're in a tank. While I was waiting for my order, I chatted with a woman who was super excited about the lobsters in the tank, and kept telling me that she just wanted to pet them. "I think you can only buy those lobsters to eat," I told her. But she just wanted to stick her hand in the tank and pet the lobsters, and asked the people behind the counter if she could pay them money to pet the lobsters. They said no. I am starting to really like West Virginia.
