Me and my friends were out of town and wanted a place to go for brunch, we decided on this place. We walked in and were seated near the window with a cold draft. After sitting there for five minutes not even getting acknowledged, we were very cold. Finally a waitress came by and we asked if we could be seated somewhere else and she suggested another table by the window. We looked at her and told her that would still be by the window so she got an attitude and suggested moving two tables together a row over. We agreed and moved. Her customer service was horrendous. The only reason I gave two stars was because the food was decent. Overall I wouldn't be going back if I were in town again. read more

This little spot looks like just another strip mall lunch spot, but once you get inside its obviously something much finer. This is the epitome of upscale casual dining. The interior decoration is clean and chic, the staff are wildly attractive, and the food and bar menus are expertly curated. We got the chips and dip to start - huge plate of fresh made potato chips and a delicate chive and cream dip. For mains we got an AK Million Dollar Burger, a Kale & Crispy Goat Cheese salad, and a Grilled Cheese and Short Rib sandwich. I had the salad which was full of flavors, perfectly dressed, and obviously very fresh. The crispy fried goat cheese balls were the prefect addition of creamy and crunchy that every salad needs. Everything they put on the table was a Wow! item. Perfectly cooked, delicious, and excellent in everyway. Even the fries had a perfectly crispy coating. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu and I'll have to go back as soon as I can to try their brunch as well. read more

Was excited to try this place after buying gift cards at Costco. So we finally went on a late Saturday morning right before 11 a.m. There were only 3 active tables when we got there, a nice outdoor seating area, but nobody was seated outside. After being seated we sat for about 10 minutes before we saw a single server, saw three of them all at once but none of them came over to our table, by now a 4th table had been seated. A waitress goes over to them and takes there order, again, we just sit. FINALLY our waitress comes over and asks us what we want to drink, well by this time we decided it was probably best to just order our food at the same time. We sit another 15 minutes waiting for our drinks, are you kidding me? So now we've been here 25 minutes just sitting....so we drink our coffee, we watch the table of 4 who came in after us...about 10 minutes later...here comes our waitress! Yay!....with water?! She asked us if we wanted water refills? It's now been 40 minutes and my blood is boiling and my boyfriend was getting tense too....he finally asks where the food is and the waitress tells us it should be out soon, SHOULD BE OUT SOON? Meanwhile table 4 is about halfway done eating. We only ordered eggs Benedict, nothing earth shattering! So we just left, starving, went to Wawa and ate Sizzlies....thanks AVENUE KITCHEN for a really shitty morning! read more

I will be brief,went on 5/13 at 3:00 to celebrate mothers day and my daughters birthday,there was 5 in our party.We all ordered entrees the food was ok but in small portions. The problem was with our waiter,besides the fact that I could only understand half of what he was saying,his service wouldnt even rate 1 star . As soon as I walked in, the vibe was off. The teenage hostess looked at us like "ugh... what are you doing here...". It was like we were crashing a private party and didn't belong. Not a friendly first impression. There were plenty of seats available, but they took their good ol' time seating us. One of the employees said "we weren't expecting such a rush...". Well, lady, it's a Sunday and people love brunch. After the initial walk in, things just went down hill for me. The waitress seemed inexperienced and awkward. The food took 40 minutes to come out (after we got our drinks which was 10 minutes in) and about 5 minutes before it came out, the bothered teenage hostess asked us if our food came out yet. Strange. Once the food came out, we were so hungry that it didn't even matter to us what we were eating. I give the food a C. To wrap things up, we won't be going back. This place needs a management makeover and some generous waitress training. In an area like Glen Mills, you would think this place would be on top of it. Nope. Go to a local diner that serves breakfast 24/7. You'll have a better time with outstanding service. read more

Much needed Home run restaurant in Glen Mills. Great food in a chic atmosphere. Excellent service. Food served very hot. Not your typical chain cuisine; creative and innovative menu. Everything is pristine clean. Beats nearby Harvest hands down. Love that they serve breakfast until 3 PM. I had a delicious spinach and cheese omelet. My friend had a crisp and interesting field greens salad and yummy turkey burger accompanied by interesting apple/mustard spread. read more

Great food, atmosphere, and service - there is no where else like it around here. Avenue is the perfect spot for a fun brunch, casual dinner, or a celebration. Appetizers are tasty and shareable - I get the chips and dip every time I go (both are homemade) but the Southern Fried Chicken and Tuna Tartare are also hit! The scallop entree is one of my all-time favorite meals and the desserts cannot be missed. The drinks, ranging mimosas to barrel-aged Manhattans (comes in a fun flask for an extra drink) are perfect for enjoying with friends or co-workers. Love this place!! read more

Stopped for lunch on Friday. Place was not busy and we immediately sat outside on the patio. Service was quick and friendly. Burger was cooked perfectly and was very good. The fries, however, were great. I also enjoyed the house red which was at a reasonable price. The only comments I have are that the patio table tops wobbled and the patio floor appeared to be somewhat unclean. Altogether I enjoyed lunch. read more

I've been to this location and the one in Villanova a few times before, but I was incredibly disappointed in my visit today, and the last time my mom went to the Villanova location there was a live mouse sitting on the cushion of a bench style seat next to her. My friend and I arrived around 12:15 and were told there was a 30 minute wait without a reservation despite there being more than 5 tables open throughout the restaurant. We put our name in and were told we'd get a text when it was ready, so we stopped by the nearby shops and looked around. At 1, there was still no call or text about the table, so we went back into the restaurant and were told we could be seated then. We were taken to a table wedged so far in the back corner that our server could barely get to us, yet there were open tables elsewhere that did not fill the entire hour and a half we were there. Our server greeted us fairly quickly and took our order, and we waited almost an hour for two breakfast sandwiches. We noticed the tables around us that had already been seated when we first arrived at 12:15 had still not received their food either. The table directly next to us sat for 20 minutes without being greeted by a server, and were not greeted until one of the guests said something to the hostess. When the manager cane to speak to them she was unapologetic and said there was a mix up and they were getting them a different server. My friend also ordered a side of fries that did not arrive until we had been finished with our entrees for five minutes and were flavorless and burned. We cancelled the dessert we ordered to not be stuck there any longer, and were offered no apologies, explanation, or compensated items for our unreasonable wait. After we closed our check, I walked to the back to use the restroom and EVERY server AND the manager were in the kitchen eating, talking, and on their phones. For the attitude avenue kitchen tries to convey and the prices of the items, this service was unacceptable. We still tipped 20% because we weren't raised in a barn. Most of our food was good but the disorganization and lack of urgency among the staff was off putting. I will not be returning to this establishment. read more

Terrible. Ordered the 8oz filet with asparagus and herbed butter take out. I can't have potatoes so I skipped them. I ordered the steak medium rare and it was medium well at best. The Flyers could have used it on the ice tonight. Asparagus was poorly seasoned and underwhelming. Unfortunately we had it to go so I couldn't send any of it back. Next time I'll run into Whole Foods and buy the steak and asparagus and save $18. Actually there won't be a next time. read more

Went here for lunch today with two others...quite disappointing! The first table where we were seated rocked back and forth, so much so that the water glass could not be placed on top without tipping. The waitress attempted to stabilize the legs with rolled up napkins but finally decided to move us to a booth at our suggestion. Guests seated behind us were complaining about the same issue. Service was less then timely, with our meal arriving 30 minutes after our order was taken. The hot decaf tea that I ordered was caffeinated, as per the label on the tea bag. The waitress seemed flustered but was trying to accommodate us, and although she apologized several times for the poor service and seating issues, the food itself did little to turn this experience into a positive one. My fish tacos were very salty, as was the lobster bisque. The soup had small bits of what looked like an ingredient used to thicken the cream sauce...perhaps flour or cornstarch that never dissolved. My husband's medium cooked burger was served well done. Our other guest's Arancini was tasteless and the chicken on her Caesar salad was dry. When the bill came the waitress mentioned that she did not charge for the caffeinated tea however, we noticed that we had been charged incorrectly for the cups of soup...up-charged by $2 each. Experienced dinner...had the baked goat cheese as an appetizer and the scallops for dinner. All were very delicious...BUT was ruined by SLOW service AND my date and I were seated by the exit door leading out to the outside patio area, which wouldn't have been a problem if the people/guests that left through that door had to come back in since the patio gate was locked. I failed to mention...it was COLD outside, so each time the door open COLD air would blow onto us. I ended putting my coat over my shoulders and scarf on. I'm assuming the exit door had to be accesible for safety reasons, but the patio gate was locked. :-/ read more

The new Avenue Kitchen could be a great addition to the Glen Mills area HOWEVER, if they cannot fix the noise level, I cannot imagine going back. While the restaurant is comfortable enough, has pretty good service and mostly tasty food, the designers have done a horrible job at controlling the noise. We were a party of four and it was the first thing we all noticed as soon as we entered. Seems like a fixable problem....Also, prices are a little high, but a lot of that depends on what you order as there is a wide range of options. read more

Avenue Kitchen has some great options, but others fall short. The Environment is extremely bright and a little overwhelming when walking in. My food the BBQ Grilled shrimp and Filet were good, but not amazing. They both tasted a little bit plain. The sides they came with were not great. Especially the mashed potatoes. I also found it to be a little expensive compared to other near buy options. I think that it has great potential, but is not quite there yet. read more

Food was fine, but service was extremely poor. Our party of 3 was seated immediately, but it took 20 minutes for our drinks (2 waters and an iced tea; not complicated) to arrive. And when they did, we were missing a water, which didn't come for another 10 minutes. From the time we sat down to the time our food arrived, an HOUR had passed. I ordered an omelette, which included a side of potatoes. In my case, this was literally just 4 diced cubes. The server apologies and said that she "owes me more potatoes but wanted to get the food out to me first". Totally understandable and I appreciate the effort... but she never brought the rest of the potatoes. She did, however, bring the check right away and without being promoted; I guess she assumed we didn't want dessert? She was right on that, at least! read more

The only reason this place got any stars at all is because the food was amazing. It was the absolute worst service I've ever had anywhere. I work in the industry and understand but this was awful. I arrived as the rest of my group had just received their drinks. I ordered a water. 25 min later, the water finally and our waitress says she will be rite to take our order, another 25 min pass, she finally come to take our order. Food took about 30 min. It was busy not worried about that. When our food arrived about %70 of the order was correct. One item that was missing was a side of bacon. Our waitress quickly runs into the kitchen and comes out with barely cooked bacon. Probably to raw to even eat Had to send it back. Like I said, they r lucky the food is good because I would never return if it wasn't for food. I have to give this restaurant a 3 star based mainly on the noise level. When we entered we asked the hostess if there were any tables set back and in a less noisy area. They told us that no one had ever mentioned the noise before and we could sit in a booth if that would help. Well it really did not but we thought we would give it a try. The restaurant was about 3/4 full and the noise level was very high. Our waitress came over and we told her the noise was unbearable. She said they had installed something near the ceiling but it was too high to absorb the sounds. We asked if they could at least lower or turn off the music but that did not happen. The waitress had to lean into the booth to hear us place our orders. We shared the greek salad which was mostly lettuce and a few traces of feta, an olive and not much more. The halibut was very good. It was expensive and we did not stay for dessert since by now we had enough. Don't think we will be returning. It is a disappointment but it is just too uncomfortable with the level of noise. read more

I would give it a 4 stars on the food and atmosphere... Really nice but the prices for drinks was a huge kick in the gut.. House cab for $15 a glass! Crazy!! It is a shame since the drink prices really killed the night when you feel like you got slammed with a crazy high bar bill. read more
