I have been coming to this shop since before they had a delicatessen, they always had the best selection of beer and wine, but now that they have the sandwich shoppe I am here all of the time. All the sandwiches are made to order! I recommend the super orange Italian...the bacon...the cold cuts...the veggies...the service!!!! Cannot be beat. They make a good sandwhich for a very small price. They're pretty fast, too. It's very convenient when I'm in a hurry or on a budget. Working down the street I've heard pretty good reviews about this place so today I decided to try it out. I wish I went next door to Vons instead because my toasted sandwich was cold and the meat didn't taste like nor have the texture of deli meat- it just tasted fake. Located in Avenue Liquor on the corner of Orange and 9th, its an energy packed place where locals get the best, most generous portioned sandwiches for a great price. We went thereto get subs between games in our tournament and was extremely disappointed in service. The guy kept arguing with us about how many we ordered and kept telling us wrong subs. One sub was wrong in they left off an ingredient we asked for. On top of all that our wait time was rediculous and sandwiches were not worth the wait or price paid. They have too many menu items and the gentleman taking the order was extremely disorganized. I'm just glad they didn't put pickles on my sub after telling him I was allergic. My co-workers and I had heard of this place, but no one had tried it. Going online, we found the menu and thought we'd be pleasantly surprised. We called in our order and anxiously awaited our chicken club, Italian, and BBQ rib sandwiches and sides. Upon arrival, the incredibly rude man behind the counter informed us the sides on the menu were not actually served. The chicken club had NO chicken (just a sandwich of toppings), the "Italian" was a salami and mustard sandwich, and the BBQ rib w/bacon had no bacon on some microwaved meat product smothered with yellow mustard. None of the toppings in the menu descriptions were on these sandwiches and NOWHERE was there any mention of 'smothered in mustard'. After two bites, we threw away our "food". I just moved here from Chicago and this is the worst experience I've ever had buying food. Ordered 2 different sandwiches for pick up- my husband picked them up- they gave me 2 of the same sandwiches. I called them as soon as he got home; nobody knew what to do, finally a man tells me to drive back with the sandwich for it to be replaced - I live 20 minutes away, he tells me come tomorrow, I tell him I have work and stuff to do mention that my husband is in the Navy and he will be busy too. He says come whenever, I ask for a refund; he says I have to bring back the sandwich for that. So I say we will be out tonight, I'll stop by for the sandwich. And so I did, this is where MARK literally started yelling at me in the store that it wasn't his fault that MY order was wrong and that I'm ASKING for too much when I ask for a refund bc he's not the owner? I asked for a manager and I got MARK, is that my fault? when I tried to tell him that; he's yelling at me and not letting me speak. Wow wow wow this place needs a lot of training on how to treat their customers. Oh and he said DONT say "we're in the military" if it's only your husband, I said "we're a military family, I'm a military spouse, and I said my husband is an active duty member we just moved here from a different station, that's what I meant. "well your not in the navy, he is, don't say that we're military" lol ARE you kidding me? I was baffled and left as he was making a scene and blaming ME for getting my order wrong. Out of this world! This sub shop was a surprise find. My chicken club sub came with bacon, onions, a variety of peppers, and mushrooms. They do have gluten free and vegetarian options on the menu. When we walked in the door, we were greeted with a friendly hello. I do like that they had a variety of soup options. They were hot and delicious. I especially liked the cheddar broccoli soup. I really don't think this place even deserves one star...Worst place...We ordered online first, apparently they don't offer the whole menu that is on grub hub. Then after reordering there at the store giving them the specific instructions they still completely messed up the order. They didn't even put chicken on a chicken sandwich...and mustard on an Italian when there was supposed to be pepperoncinis, oil and vinegar and spices. Let me tell you about this place! I was visiting Coronado and ran into this place on accident. I was actually trying to go to Vons and as I passed by I seen the sub sandwiches. I was kind of interested so after I got my drinks from Vons I went into the market and I decided to try a steak burrito mainly because it was $5.75 and anyone knows that for Coronado, that is an awesome price! When I seen the lady making the burrito I was absolutely amazed at how much meat and cheese they put in it ! The burrito was huge and probably the best burrito I've ever had. I would have paid $10 if they asked me to! I went back 2 more times and only disappointed once on the second visit when the meat was not chopped steak it was slow cooked or something so it wasn't the same. On the third visit I got the orange avenue Italian sub and I fell in love! It was $7.50 and I couldn't eat it all! I'm going to make this my spot for when we return to Coronado island read more
