I have had my current Uber rental thru Avis for only two weeks. The car came with four bald tires and a broken windshield wiper. Two of the tires were leaking air. The battery died the next day. Avis fixed the battery but refused the tires even though they had 0 tread. I have now replaced two tires out of pocket(500$) and windshield wipers they wouldn't replace in the middle of a rainstorm(60$). I have missed 5 days of work in two weeks because of this. Not one concession had been offered by Avis and Uber couldn't care less about driver safety. If you are driving for Uber please check your tires before you rent from here. I have rented three electric cars from them and all of them had bald tires. ALL of THEM!! You will be responsible for the fix out of pocket or they will take away your car and you may not get a replacement. I am quitting Uber altogether because of stuff like this. read more

Rented the car to do uber for two weeks. I got a receipt for the 1st week but after I returned it after the 2nd week I asked for a a receipt and I was told I would be emailed a receipt. I didn't receive a receipt until 15 days later after I returned the car. In the meantime I received a text 3 days later that I hadn't returned the car and 2 days later I get a certified letter that car is being reported as stolen and I have no receipt (proof) that I returned the car. Next day I'm receiving phone calls from a number I don't recognize and while I'm working so I look more closely at the number and call it back later. The person who answers says I didn't call back in a timely manner. I'm calling the same day. Apparently not timely enough. He tells me this happens all the time at this location. Several days go by and nobody tells me it has been resolved. I was the one that had to call, text and email to find out that it's been resolved. Nothing from them. No acknowledgement. No apology. No compensation. So if you want the stress of being accused of stealing one of their cars with no proof you returned the car and no acknowledgement on their part of their screw up, be my guest. read more

I went to the avis here to get a rental car after being in a crash. the rental car place is inside the Hilton hotel there, and it's a little hard to find. you have to park in the underground structure there, then take the elevator up into the hotel or walk up onto glenoaks to get in. that's also where they park the rentals. the prices were fair. the car they gave me, a 2021 red hyundai elantea, was really, but really dirty too (which they told me before I took it), which was a little disappointing. there really isn't a spot there where they can wash the cars after each renter, so beware. it also had a broken headlight (which I forgot to tell them about when I took it back; oops). still, i'd go here again read more

The only thing that can improve this place is closing it, take it out of business. They are untrustworthy, they commit fraud and they still customers money. They are so unethical, and they are not corporation, this place belongs to the one that says is the manager (Tino). They always charging for their he same week rental twice, they use an Avis office in Virginia Beach to charge you twice. They will charge your card with Avis Glendale and also one with Avis Virginia Beach. They also say, that in order to drive for uber, they charge your card for the current week and they called pre-authorization, and once you drive the week, they release the money back to the bank, and then they charge you for the week, and then they charge you for the following week as pre-authorization so they double charge you. I never heard such nonsense thing. Oh, and also they will charge your card exactly at 9 in the morning, and if they charge doesn't go through, they will end the contract at that moment, even if you rental is not due for return at 2 pm. so they will remove the car from the Uber app. So can't drive no more. If you call them and ask them if they can wait couple of days for you to make the payment, because you probably don't have the total amount, even if you only missing 10 dollars, and you ask them no to remove the car from the app, they will say yes, so you think that you have at least one more day to make the money, but they remove the car and notify Uber that the contract has finished, and they do this couple of minutes before closing, so then you have a car that you can't drive to make money, and no one to call. But if you go next day, and you have the money, they will start a new contract with the previous day, although you couldn't drive the car, so they charge you for the time you have the car even if you were not able to drive it to make the money. I'm on my way there now, for this reason, My payment was due on Wednesday I asked Tino if he could wait for me till next day, so I could drive one more day to make the money, he said yes, but he removed the car from the app, but not just that, even though I told him that I did have the complete amount, he charged my card and my bank paid, when I contact him next day he said that the charge was declined, my bank says no they didn't declined it. so I asked him why did you remove the car from the app, and he said that it was the corporation. So he put me in red numbers and bank charge me an overdraft charge. I had to as some on to lend me the money to cover the charge, and all though the bank paid them, they didn't put the car back in the app, so when I called him, he said that the payment was declined, said no it was not, I ask him to put the car back in the app, and he said that he needed the money for the pre-authorization to drive the following week, I said you got paid for it and he said that that was the money for the week that just ended, I said no it's not. And he said that until I don't have the money for the following week he could not reinstate the car in the app. I told him what good does it do to have a car that I can't drive. By the end of the day I received a notification from my bank that Avis charged me for The following week plus a late charge, and he charged me from Wednesday, but he did not put the car back in the app. today is Saturday and the car is not in the app yet. read more

I wish I checked these reviews before coming to the Avis in Hilton Glendale! Shortage of cars and false online booking systems? I booked online with a few weeks in advance, and received countless confirmation emails that the vehicle would be available. I get there and they say that the cars are at the mechanics and the vehicles I booked aren't meant to go to LAX, so why have that as an option on your site I ask and the lady says its just how the system is and that I have to call to change and she is unable to do it. I then request that she follows up, and begrudgingly she calls. I speak to three different people on the phone and they say that I would have to pay a difference and get the car from another location! After begging, they say that they will wave the difference since it was their online mistake. I get to the other Glendale location and the clerk there says that no adjustment was made, no one called them or emailed them about the change. They ended up doing it for me anyway after all that run around. This was not a good experience with renting a car, something very simple could have been sorted from the beginning. Avis needs to update their online system to work with their old outdated back end system. read more

I am doing a review on Avis Rent-A-Car in Glendale inside the Hilton. I'm not really sure why, because as I read, the other reviews that go back as far as 10 years ago and up to date as 10 days ago the owners, the management supervisor's, not even the Hilton which is supposed to be a high Society. Brand name does not care that this Avis rental is associated with their hotel in such a prestigious area, shameful and I don't understand it. Stop going to this Avis location they don't care. I made a reservation I picked up the car. It took 45 minutes longer than it should have because their system went down. I patiently waited in the air condition lobby for it to come up. Then when I did, they gave me the keys and told me to go downstairs and take a look at it. I did. I saw that there were a bunch of scratches all on the side. I went back upstairs , I asked them were they aware they said yes, !! even though they didn't mark anything down on the paper that they gave me to do a walk around to show them what was wrong ( so I would not be blamed on the return ) so obviously it had been in some type of minor accident but I say OK I only need it for a week because my car is down . Then I get in the car and there's a big red light that says.... SERVICE CAR NOW !! ) again it saysSERVICE CAR NOW !!! .....not in 1000 miles not in 100 miles. The warning was now I went back again told the guy at the desk who should've just giving me another car, even if it had to be an upgrade, what I was told was don't worry about it it has about 1000 more miles. You will be fine I wasn't OK with that but I had to go and I said OK then my spouse was following me and he said is the blinker working do you see it I said no, so not only that the left blinker was not working, which is a SAFETY FEATURE that is A HAZARD that can an accident That could cause me to get a ticket and the light was out on the same side of the car that had the damage but that is just a bulb change. My husband said I will do it I said don't you dare and our fault because we had not read the reviews prior to getting the car. The car was filthy, dirty on the outside the car was filthy, dirty on the inside. The car was not vacuumed out. It was not wiped down. It had sticky stuff in the cupholders on the radio there were cups there were papers we even found marijuana paraphernalia in the car. Unbelievable. When did they start renting cars like this? There was not even a full tank of gas it had a quarter of a tank of gas So before I could do anything, my husband had to go spend money and time to wash out the car inside and out before I could drive it and he could feel comfortable because they didn't have any more cars. They told me to come back tomorrow at 2pm I needed the car for a week we spent 3 1/2 hours making the car look halfway presentable, and these people did not care they did not offer an upgrade. They did not offer money back and I'm going to mention again. Avis is supposed to be more like one of the top line car rental places. They also owned budget which is better. Don't let the name fool you they are also in a prestigious hotel, THE HILTON a prestigious area Glendale California, which is next to Burbank California. Awful customer service awful cars. I don't understand why they are still in business. Save your money save your time, so disappointing this place, but nobody cares please do not show us the good reviews, but look up the reviews that was a mistake. We just needed a car so bad we still had to get back-and-forth to work Never again from this place never ever again!!! This place is a joke. I preordered a car to pick up on a Sunday, with posted hours from 9 a.m. to noon. I arrived at 9:45 but was charged $75 for an "early" pickup, it was only two hours early. I was told it was the "only" car available, even though the guy at the front desk struggled to find my reservation in the computer, had no idea how to complete the transaction, and had to call his manager. Once the paperwork was signed, he mentioned the car had only 1/8 of a tank of gas and suggested I take a photo of the gauge and bring back a receipt for a credit. But AVIS policy is to return the car with the same amount of gas it had when rented--so, no refund. When I went to the Hilton basement to get the car, there were plenty of vehicles, including SUVs, and a strong smell of gasoline. It wouldn't surprise me if they siphon gas from full returns. When I brought the car back, the manager and a Hilton employee were blocking the ramp to the return area with a brand-new G-Class Mercedes and a Lexus RX. After waiting, the manager sped off, screeching tires, cutting me off, and parking where they clean returned cars. While filling out the paperwork, I saw both of them doing something suspicious. Later, as I drove down Brand Blvd., that same Mercedes sped past, cutting off cars in an unsafe way. In my opinion, Hilton should drop its contract with Avis and find another rental company. read more

The first car they gave me was not clean - food crumbs on the seats and floor. The manager put me into a second car that they were in the process of washing, and gave it to me wet and only partially clean. He didn't offer me an upgraded car (which I would have paid the difference for). I got into the second car and the passenger seat was wet with coffee and the car hadn't been vacuumed. I had to rent the car because mine was in the shop and I had to take my disabled mother to doctors appointments. They had already made me late to pick her up, so I took the dirty car. Mom had to ride in the back seat, which was harder for her to get in and out of. When I returned it, the manager didn't seem too concerned about my experience and didn't offer anything more than an apology. I know it was just a $60 rental, but it was a $10 experience. If you are thinking about going here for the Uber rental car program, DONT. First they claimed i did not have a reservation and made me wait for a manager who found my reservation in two seconds. So i guess his employees are just incompetent. Once they had me look at a car and i was ready to go, they then tried to charge me $75 a day for insurance on top of the weekly charge. On the app and website, they claim that base insurance is included with the weekly fee so that is completely false. If you really need to do the Uber rental program, which isn't great already, go to Hertz. read more

This is by far the best rental car place around! Period no doubt about it, from the manager to the bottom every member of the team plays ball! They are super knowledgeable, willing to help out, doing whatever they can to meet the needs of their customers. Both times I was in there T and G were working, forgot what T's name was exactly, Im pretty sure Genesis is G's actual name. They helped me out so fast, nothing but positive energy. The car wasn't spotless and I was in a hurry so instead of waiting for the car to be washed they gave me a considerable rebate to go get it detailed myself. I have rented cars consistently my whole life never trying to put miles on my 62' Caddy. Never have I been in and out so fast, and as satisfied with their treatment of me as a customer. The manager went above and beyond to help me out during a time when I was in dire need of a blessing! Avis is my favorite brand to rent cars from. I have horror stories from the competitors and was just about ready to rent from Turo, but this Avis location changed my mind on everything. Likely the worst managed business I have ever dealt with, 3 times i made a booking and even called to confirm the car, I was told to come down to pick it up. Upon arrival at the location I find out they do NOT have a vehicle for me and I just wasted hours of time going back and forth to their location for no reason. When i finally did get a vehicle it was extremely dirty and had 2 different warning and maintenance lights on and they will not exchange it. This place rents cars out on Uber, even though Uber does not have access to view their inventory. So, you book your rental, then Uber covers part of the cost to get you to the rental car location. Unfortunately, you don't find out they're sold out until after your uber driver is en route, then Uber charges you a "small fee" for bailing on your driver. Then you can't make an additional reservation, because Budget can't cancel the reservations, and you're directed to an 800 number. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Once they have your credit card information you are in trouble. I rented a car for driving uber just for one week. I have been doing for a really long time and very familiar with the areas that i usually drive and there is no any kind of etollroads or fasttruck or expresslines in the areas i drive. They charged me over 104$ extra for thetollroads but i never used them. They don't provide you with any documentation about the violations. I sent them the screenshots from my uber app that at the time of violations i was doing uber 20 miles away where the violations took place. Still no response. Same thing happened with my friend. I hate to write a negative review. I really do. Yesterday I picked up my rental car which I had reserved for a 9am pick up; I arrived at approximately 9;45am. The gentleman who handled the check-in paperwork and payment did a fine job. He was friendly enough and efficient. He used a walkie talkie to let the pick up area know we were coming down. Getting down to the Avis car pick-up area was a little daunting because, while the gentleman upstairs told us where to go, it's on the lowest level of the underground parking ramp and the lighting is awful. A few more directional Avis signs would have been helpful and would be a simple, relatively inexpensive benefit to first-time customers at this location. As we approached the corner to which we'd been directed there was a man (another customer later referred to him as Carlos). The lighting is so awful (truly...AWFUL) and I still wasn't sure if we were in the right place. Again, a sign would have been helpful. He was working on something and didn't acknowledge us. I asked, "Is this where we pick up the Avis rental?" to get his attention. He seemed flustered (I'd observe why soon) and said it was. He seemed a bit confused about which car we were taking. From what I could gather, he had one car ready to go but we'd been assigned the one that he hadn't cleaned yet. I asked if we should wait upstairs and he said no. My son and I stood there (no seating available) and watched him for over 20 minutes while he scrambled to clean the car. (Thank goodness I was late!) While he was trying to get our car ready, he was interrupted by 3-4 people returning their cars. Each time he was interrupted he said, "Jesus Christ!" He was apologetic each time he was pulled away and commented that it had been busy like that all morning. He was clearly doing his best but was very frustrated and overwhelmed. I felt really sorry for his situation AND his working conditions. He had a bright light that he carried around with him because the overhead lighting is so, so terrible and the poor man needs to be able to see what he's doing! That corner felt like a dark, grubby dungeon to me and he works there every day trying to clean what he can't see WHILE dealing with customers. He commented a few times that the car wasn't that dirty (on the outside) and he was just giving it a quick pass so we could take it. When it came time for the pre-rental inspection I was frustrated because there was clearly some damage but the lighting made it impossible to see everything clearly. On the far side of the car, it was even worse because the cord to his super bright light didn't reach all the way around so it only served to blind me, not illuminate the car. Each time I pointed out a ding, scrape, or chip he said something like, "That's fine but I'm not sure how picky they are there." (We are returning it in San Francisco.) It was really stressing me out to have the worry of potentially being charged for pre-existing damage. I then asked to inspect the inside. He opened the door and exclaimed, "Jesus Christ! I forgot to vacuum." Then he explained that it wasn't that bad. I said I was concerned about inspecting for stains and he came back with, "It's fine, I'm just not sure how picky they are there." Argh!!!! I felt like saying, "Carlos! You're busting your butt in this hovel. I see that. But I do not want to be charged how many hundreds of dollars on the other side because your (clearly terrible) manager won't spring for decent lighting so YOU can see to clean the cars and I can see to inspect them!" I didn't say anything but must've looked skeptical because he grabbed the vacuum and did a super quick pass. When he was done I was over an hour behind schedule and just signed for the darn car. I immediately drove across the street to Trader Joes and took photos of the interior. There are two stains on the back seat. Hair, sand, bits of grass and sticks...all present. I used some wipes to clean the smudges and fingerprints off the control panel and other hard surfaces. Uff. read more

I rented an avis car from the Hilton in Glendale CA, I was driving it to Las Vegas one way. The lady at the counter was very rude and not professional at all. Because I had a Canadian license she didn't know how to handle it, she kept having to call someone for help. I was finally input into the system OK. However, she was unable to input my sister as a second driver (also with a Canadian license), I ended up being the only one allowed to drive on a 4-5 hour drive. This woman didn't know what she was doing. She told us it was a ford focus, I asked if she had any other cars, to which she replied no, it's the only one. Anyway, we get down to the dark underground parking garage where our car is. On first glance it looked alright, but it was hard to tell in the poor lighting. But inside the car, it hadn't been cleaned out as there was still garbage from the previous renter. It's not until I'm already on the highway when I notice that the gas was only three quarters full! This car hadn't even been looked at since the previous renter! Not to mention the car obviously was in a previous accident as the rear bumper was coming off and the side mirror was coming off too. We got there OK though. I would never trust my life to an avis car again... I guess I now know why they're so cheap! read more

This is the story of a traveler who wanted to rent a simple car but ended up in a complex fairy tale web of meh. The adventure started with a reservation for 9AM on a Saturday ... simple enough, one would assume. On Saturday morning, however, a grumpy gatekeeper sat behind the desk at Avis, busy with a personal conversation that made the traveler feel like an interloper rather than a customer. As the paperwork was hastily prepared, the gatekeeper let the traveler know that she wasn't having a good day. The day had just begun ... how bad could it be? Plus, is that really the traveler's business? With paperwork in hand, the traveler departed the front desk. Next, the traveler was sent deep underground where a cranky troll washed cars all day. When the traveler reached the correct car, there were no keys. The troll approached and was angered when he learned that the car was about to go out - the gatekeeper hadn't told him about it. Repeating his toll mantra, "Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ!" over and over, he began preparing the car ... the one that had been reserved for 9AM ... and it was 9:30. He paused frequently as he cleaned to complain about the gatekeeper's lack of professionalism, stretching the already frustrating delay and making the traveler stand in the hot, humid underworld of the parking garage. By time the traveler was allowed back into the sun, 45 minutes had passed and the traveler was now in as bad a mood as the gatekeeper had been. To top it off, when the car was returned the next day, the manager on duty obviously didn't care on wit about the bad experience. But, alas, there is a happy ending ... an Enterprise car rental is fairly close. read more

We have rented from this location many times and usually have had no problems. The cars are nice and Raj who we usually deal with is very nice and professional. BUT! Today we dealt with Alba who was NOT nice or professional AT ALL!! She was very rude! She was rolling her eyes at customers who were asking her things on the phone, she barely looked at us the entire time we were there (trying to figure out what happened to our reservation), and basically made us feel like we were bothering her by being there. She made NO effort to help us out. She is the reason this place gets 3 stars. My husband & I rented a car similar to Ford Edge but they gave us a Kia that smelled like a cigarette inside. We went back to Avis rental office & Ameet told us that there's a a white jeep renegade which is smaller. When we were driving it to the desert going to Grand Canyon, the engine stopped the car without any warning or any noise. It restarted after 10 min. We were ok until we reached our destination but coming to Glendale, Ca the engine stopped 3 more times & at this time we were in Essex, Ca in the middle of the desert,.temp 115 F. I called Avis to rescue us but the lady told us that it will take 90 - hrs for them to rescue us. We waited another 15-20 min . luckily my husband was able to start the car .We would like to return or exchange the car but it's 80 miles an hour & a half away. When we were driving in the middle of the freeway, the car stopped again & luckily the cars behind us did not hit us.That's when I called Ameet. He said that this car is a brand new 2017 Jeep renegade with less than 10,000 miles. I told him that this car needs to be check before renting it even if the car is new to prevent accident, & frustrations. Our trip to Grand Canyon was good if not for these 4 incidents in the freeway.Thank God we did not have accidents while the engine of the car stopped without warning in the middle of the freeway. read more
