After a failed attempt at dining at the near by El Torito Grill off Main St. I did a search for nearby brunch/breakfast places and this little cafe came up. They had good ratings from numerous people. I called, the gentleman was very nice on the phone and said they had no wait. On our way! When we got there it was very quiet and small but the staff was very nice. Some of us got lunch items and others breakfast. My Mom ordered their chicken pesto sandwich which was devine. My husband the club which he loved, my daughter the kid's grilled cheese which she devoured my Dad the pastrami which he said was excellent and I the loaded toast. The other Avocado Cafe closed down so I'm no longer able to enjoy their awesome sandwiches there but thankfully, this one is not too much further away than the old Newport Beach location. This location is a little hard to find because it's within an apartment neighborhood so don't expect to see this location while you're driving down the street. You'll see it only once you've turned into the neighborhood and either going to one of the other stores around it or you're purposely looking for this place. And honestly, the metal sign kind of blends in with the background so it doesn't jump out. I passed by while driving and I was looking for this place. Service is awesome. I really enjoyed chatting with the guys there and they were very helpful with my selection. And the food here is fresh, top notch quality and made to order. I had the Tower 9 with everything on it on gluten free bread (extra $1) with a side of fruits. So good. I wish they had a location near where I live. I honestly would eat here at least 3-4 times a week. But alas, I'll have to trek down to Irvine from North OC for the time being. (Rumor has it they're planning on opening a location in Anaheim !!!) They have tables in the inside with a big screen with SportsCenter on it and it's very modern looking and a few tables outside. I'd rather sit outside and enjoy the SoCal weather. Looking for something healthy, but not like.. CRAZY healthy? Well this is definitely your place! I got a roast beef bacon sandwich that was delicious(ly healthy). It comes with a side and you can choose from fresh fruit, pasta salad, chips, or a pickle. The sandwiches are pretty big and the place is really clean. My fave parts of the sandwich was that it came with sqaw bread, avocado, and sprouts. I love sprouts on a sandwich! The sandwiches are a bit pricy, but I feel like it's because they use great ingredients (and probably b/c their rent is something ridiculous). I found this place when I yelped 'healthy' around UCI and took a look at the good reviews. I was greeted by friendly Chuy who introduced me to some of the favorites of this joint and I ended up going with the Ho Bro's Grazer with a spinach wrap and side of fruit. The great thing about this place is all the fresh and healthy ingredients/substitutes they have. It was a good and fat wrap..I ended up eating half of it for lunch and the rest for dinner so I think that it's priced pretty well with the wrap and side. The wrap was yummy and very fresh tasting so I'm excited to go back and try other things. Also free wifi, so I'll probably be taking a working lunch there while I enjoy my lunch. STUFFED ALBACORE AVOCADO yumm... get it with a side dressing of balsamic vinaigrette. BOMB. Acai bowl is ehhh took awhile to make and a little watery compared to Banzai Bowl AVOCADO SHAKE i don't know the exact name but its the smoothies with avocado and you can make it into a bowl with granola and bananas :) i recommend this. the sandwiches are pretty good, I've had the Chuy and the Original which I recommend. I ordered the tower 9 and BLTA to go and the food was ready in no time! The tower 9 was beyond my expectations. I'm usually not a big fan of sandwiches, but I was excited to chow down on this one! The squaw bread was surprisingly delicious - I normally prefer white bread since dark bread is dry, but this one was nice and soft. And the mustard complemented the sandwich very well also! I felt healthy eating this sandwich lol - I think that's part of the reason I liked it so much. My coworker had the BLTA and it was definitely good. How do I know for sure? I checked in with her 5 mins later and half the sandwich was already gone!! haha. We called this sandwich the BLTA with "hella B" as they don't skimp out on the meat :) I'll definitely be back to try other sandwiches on their menu. The only downside to the cafe is that parking is sometimes an issue with it being located in an apartment complex. Other than that, the sandwiches here are as good as it gets! :P read more

Everyone I work with seems to like the followings: --Tower 9: Chicken salad, avocados, pepper jack, sprout, cucumber, yellow mustard, tomatoes, and spring mixed veggies on squaw bread. --Joe's BLTA: this is your ordinary bacon, lettuce, tomatoe sandwich with avocado --Acai Bowl: blended acai with banana, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries toppings. +Price: Everything here is overpriced. I dont blame them because "avocados" are expensive. I mean, if you go to Ralphs or Vons, they're like $1 per avocados...small or big...shooooott. I try to come here as often as I can...sadly, about, once a blue moon. I have been here three times since I found the place about a year ago. Their "Breaky Burrito" is beyond amazing. I would get the spinach wrap and just pour their salsa on every bite I take! It is just so amazingly delicious! It also comes with a side of fresh fruits. My friend got a salad and although he didn't like it, he loved the Breaky Burrito as well. I am unsure which drink I got (I want to say "sunrise" something) and it was very quenching. I really love Avocado Cafe. I wish I went there more often. Every time I visit I am blown away by how delicious their sandwiches are. I am also consistently impressed with their side order offerings. Most places will give you a half assed bag of chips or soggy fries, but Avodaco Cafe gives you the option of an AMAZING fruit cup or Have'a Corn Chips or other things I haven't ever considered because I stopped reading there. My last visit I ate The Chuy sandwich but in wrap form. The flavor profile was insane. The sandwich was sweet and salty, tangy and spicy. These people know how to put together a sandwich. I meant to only eat half of the wrap and set the other half aside for lunch the next day, but that didn't really happen the way I planned. I was excited to give this place a try. I went here with a friend yesterday and I ended up leaving disappointed. I ordered the Avo Classic with an Islander Juice. Avo Classic - The tuna could have used a little seasoning, such as salt and maybe a little bit of pepper. The Islander juice - I didn't taste a bit of lemon or strawberries in the juice. I start to have my doubts about a place when even the water is not good. I had the combo, with tomato soup and the grazer sandwich panini style. The tomato soup did not taste like tomato. It tasted like cream. My arteries recoiled in horror, and I didn't finish it. The sandwich was okay. The carrots really didn't contribute to it, but overall, it was a decent and unmemorable sandwich. We got a tiny fruit cup with each of our combos, but they were supposed to have come with chips. The person at the counter said they had run out of chips. Why weren't we told that, and given a choice of other sides? The strawberries in the fruit cup had no flavor. Oh, and the water. It's warm tap water, with no ice in sight. Ugh. I tried the Basillico and my friend got the Pesto Chicken. Both were yummy and very similar in ingredients. I think the only difference is the presence of chicken in her sandwich. The Basillico was light and refreshing. I honestly can't wait to order it again. The Kettle Chips were perfect and not bad even after being fridged for a few hours. It's simple and everything a sandwich should be. Fresh mozzarella, lots of Pesto, tomatoes, mixed salads, on a really good Ciabatta. On the down side, I personally don't like the vibe of the interior, so I ended up choosing to sit outside. Also, my friend could not figure out how to make the coffee taste good. Like she added so much sugar and different things but it just tasted terrible for her. Also, not sure how parking works. I came here really wanting to try their avocado toast but apparently they stop serving it at 11am :( I ended up getting one of their vegetarian sandwiches that included soy turkey, but I was told that they don't carry soy turkey (or maybe they ran out that day?) and they only had regular turkey. I thought that was a bit odd, but the sandwich was nonetheless delicious! It was very filling and it came with a side of potato chips for around $9 and some change. So good. The dish comes with chips, but I opted to get a half sandwich, half soup. Get the ciabatta bread toasted - you will not regret it! The sandwich was really tasty and came out promptly. The sandwich was so fresh tasting, lending to the good tuna and sprouts. Sometimes tuna sandwiches get too relish-y or too high on mayo, but this place does it right. The tuna tasted really light, and the vegetables were so refreshing. Really good. I also got the tomato basil soup which was DELICIOUS. Its in a huge developed residential condo complex. This is good because it is secluded and also kinda weird because it is so secluded and a bit hard to find. The food is incredible and really delicious. The avo toast is amaze with two eggs and guac on really crispy toast. George's Breaky Burrito is the BEST breakfast wrap ever. I'm pretty sure mine had at least half an avocado in it, and the bacon and eggs were spot-on. Could do with more mushrooms but hey it was still pretty darn tasty. I got it with the spinach tortilla, and it came with a cup of cut fruit (strawberries and pineapple) and a cup of salsa. Nice little cafe located in the neighborhood of one of Irvine's modern apartment housing areas. The staff is very friendly and a lot of regular locals seem to like them very well. The portions are very healthy, both in size and ingredients. Sandwiches usually fill me to content but this place really had me full! I had the Kissel's Club which is their most popular item, and my fiancee had The Italian. Both so delicious! I love the squaw bread. We had the pasta salad side option. WOW, we ordered well ahead of time, showed up and the guy looked at us like a deer in headlights. We were told online that it takes 20-30 minutes, we gave them at least 40 minutes to get the sandwiches ready PLUS we gave them a 15% tip...that's the problem with tipping in advance...he said it was going to take 10 minutes after we got there for them to rush around getting our sandwiches, at one point I looked over and they were sitting out with no chips added and the person who was supposed to add the chips was no where to be found. We went here because their reviews were really good so I can't figure out if I even had the correct place....beyond disappointing....and they could have least given us a couple of free iced teas for our wait...but he said "sorry the owner isn't here"...shame...sounds like the place doesn't run well with absentee management. read more
