Ordered for the first time through door dash and was pleasantly surprised! The to go packaging was great and handled with care. Everything stayed warm and crispy. We got two rolls, egg rolls, spicy edamame, mixed tempura, and a chicken bowl. I could eat that spicy edamame every day - good flavor but not too spicy. The mixed tempura was also great and would order that again. I'm pregnant so we got the crunch roll and the NY roll. The steak on the NY roll was lightly seared on one side and raw on the other so we took it off and cooked it to be safe. The miso soup was also very good and not too salty. I don't think I would order the chicken bowl again though. While the chicken was good quality, the sauce congealed and was unappealing and had a bit of an add flavor to it. Maybe I would order again without sauce if I was eating at home, but we do want to eat in the restaurant soon. Overall happy with our order! read more

The combo comes with miso soup and a salad. Both of which were delicious. The salmon teriyaki was very moist and the sauce was very flavorful. The rice unfortunately was dry and not flavorful. The gyoza was underwhelming, and sadly the same goes for the California cut roll. Dry rice and the slices were too large. We came on a Sunday afternoon for some yummy lunch. We received exceptional service from the woman running the show. I, unfortunately did not get her name, but she did say to call her whatever we want so she Jennifer Lopez for an hour or so. She was great and very friendly. I have passed by this place numerous times and would have never known how awesome the food and service really is. I do not eat seafood on a regular, so ended up getting the Bento box lunch special. It came with chicken teriyaki, a salad, rice, and sashimi. Now, that is what I am a fan of. Everything tasted great but I ended up trying the salmon teriyaki and that was even better. It was tender and great flavor. The dressing on the salad was a hit too. Whatever dressing they use, I am a huge fan! We ended up getting dessert because we were just enjoying the experience and the service we were receiving. The fried cheesecake was a hit. This place was recommended by a local resident who has been living in Long Beach for a long time. This place gets local customers all the time. I have been this place five plus times and I'd like to give this place a review. Food: I love the Salmon Collard as appetizer. If you like Eel, make sure to get their Unagi Sushi and Slot Machine roll. During happy hour, I'd like getting their "Chef Special". I have never had one bad experience with their sushi and freshness is always good. Service: This lady is always there and she's very welcoming. Her staff always makes sure if I need water and if the food tastes okay. They also offer takeouts and there are dedicated windows outside for pickup. Ambiance: The restaurant is located next to a smog place. Please don't get discouraged because the parking lot is clean. I never have issue with parking or with the area in general. The interior is not too small and there's a patio area. The noise from the airplane isn't ear drums blowing loud and planes pass by quickly. I have no issue with that. What can I say? Pretty awesome sushi. They have a really filling lunch combo which you can choose a variety of which type of rolls you want and miso soup and salad for only $15. It was a great deal and we also opted to try the bluefin toro which I've never had. The bluefin toro was amazing, melt in your mouth fresh and one of the best sushi I've ever had. Everything was super yummy and we left super satisfied. The service was top notch, our server was great and took care of us really well with a great and positive attitude. I was having the single worst weeks of my entire life when I visited Awesome Sushi. I stopped by because they're the only place I know in LB that has Orion, my favorite beer, on tap. Too make a long story short, the wait staff and chef were so friendly and welcoming, I am sitting in the parking lot misty eyed. It was as if I walked in wearing a shirt that said "I need to be cared for." I am touched by the genuine comradely and good natured people who work here. I for two hand rolls (the eel avocado and the spicy scallop) and the fire ant roll. The service was great. The staff is very attentive and checked in often. It can get very crowded and we had to wait 10-15 minutes to be seated because we did not have a reservation. The food was delicious. The spicy scallop handroll was recommended by a friend and it was good. I got the unagi avocado roll because I love eel and it was worth it. We got three rolls and an appetizer that I'm not sure of the name but it was jalapeño spicy tuna something. The three rolls were all great except the appetizer. Awesome is more like a converted Chili's restaurant with tight tables, a distressed sushi bar and walls decorated with mismatched chotzkies. But the sushi, you cannot argue with the sushi. The FRESHEST cuts of yellowtail, tuna, salmon, and octopus. You can tell it is a great place if the octopus isn't chewy. The octopus here is the best I have ever tasted. They put a little lemon on it and coarse salt. Delicious! It is a fun place. The music is always thumping and it is always a party. If you are lucky, one of the waitresses will do saki bombs with you. FYI, the Yelp check-in deal for a free dessert is no longer available. I can't remember the exact names but I think they were love you roll and 24/7, something of the sorts. They all had an assortment of fish, avocado, cream cheese and sauces and tasted great. The quality of fish was good. For being a hole in the wall next to the freeway, it is quite good and you can't tell from the outside. The waiters were all nice. The only thing we didn't like was the pitcher has a huge ice block in the center to seemingly keep the beer cold, but takes up nearly half the pitcher so it didn't end up being very much beer.
