This place is amazing. We go around 2-3 times a month. The service is always on point. They all work together to cover each others tables. Empty dishes are cleared almost immediately. i came here on a lunch date with the bf and was very excited to try it seeing it has such high reviews. we were greeted and seated within minutes. our server came by and i asked if their spicy tuna roll had soy sauce in it. she said she wasn't sure and seemed put off when i asked if she could check with the chefs. which really wasn't hard, because we were sitting at a table just across from the sushi bar, so she just had to turn around and ask them. she told me i couldn't have the miso soup or salad either since the dressing had soy sauce in it. i was fine with that, but she kept repeating it in a really rude and condescending way. i'm use to not being able to have certain foods due to my allergy, you don't have to be rude about it. not the greatest customer service. my bf ordered a bento box and i got nigiri with a sushi roll. the food came out quickly and it was okay. i wasn't happy with the food or the service, and contrary to what the name says, this is not awesome sushi. they definitely need to work on their customer service skills. i won't be back. read more

I am an absolute sushi fanatic, if I could eat it daily- I totally would. I was very disappointed in the sushi I got here last night. I ordered the Awesome Roll and the 747- tasted old, the charged my $34 for both SMALL rolls (5 pieces), which I think is sooo over priced for the lack of freshness and especially the la k of customer service. The service here is great. They made me feel welcome as soon as I walked through the door. I had a seared tuna sashimi as an app, and it was fabulous. The rolls I had, however, not so great. I wish I would've heard about this sushi place before! I've lived in Long Beach my entire life and always saw this spot but never gave it a try. I stopped by for a smog check and decided to have sushi while I waited for my car. I have to admit I had my doubts walking towards this place. When I walked in, i noticed it was pretty small. I came in with a stroller and got stuck on my way in and on my way out. My stroller was too bulky to pass by the sushi bar and towards the tables. But that was mostly my fault. I usually don't take strollers to restaurants because I know strollers just take up too much space. But since I had to walk here and my baby was sleeping, I kinda had no other choice. However, I do feel that the place is kind of small. The staff was very friendly. They greeted us as soon as we walked in with great smiles on their faces. Our server was also very great, she was a nice young lady. Now the sushi part... My GOODNESS!! Their specialty rolls are amazing! We tried 4 total and not a single bite was leftover because they were so good! We got the 7 year anniversary roll which was my favorite! The vampire roll was also good. We also tried the XOXO roll and I believe the last one we had was the crunchy roll. We ended our dinner with dessert. We tried their fried ice cream which was perfection! It's green tea fried ice cream, cut into 4ths, drizzled with chocolate and caramel syrups. So amazing!! We noticed they do have specials starting at 3:30 during the weekdays. This place has been on my list of japanese eateries in Long beach for quite a while. This is a very small restaurant just by clark and willow street. You get a family sort of vibe here when you walk in and the servers here are very welcoming. I came in here I think on an off day because service seemed a bit slower only because they were probably understaffed. They do sushi rolls, rice bowls, combination bento plates, sashimi, your typical japanese stuff. I ordered the awesome roll which was great! Nice spice with the fresh jalapeno and lovely salmon with yellow tuna. The jalapeno didn't make it overwhelmingly spicy it was just a nice touch. The Ultra violet roll is a veggie roll which kinda made me feel a little disappointed cause there wasn't much to the roll. The salmon bowl they give you a nicely good filet of salmon thats glazed in terriyaki sauce over rice with some cucumbers on the side. It's done simply well. The sashimi here I feel like I need to try during the afternoon. Either I came at an off day or I just came really late here but the quality of the sashimi wasn't the freshest of the fresh. (I came at night to give some context) but it was still moderately okay, there wasn't a smell, it was still kinda firm but I think it was heading towards the "eh" quality soon. Hard to say. I'll have to come here to eat their sashimi next time to be more fair. This place is pretty small but there's enough parking in the private lot. It's close to the University and the apartments so very convenient for students to come eat here. read more

The hours are inaccurate. Arrived shortly after 11 and they were closed. All of the signs there are confusing as well. "Open for take-out" but there are tables outside. Honestly it's just overwhelming, all the signage and rules. Dining out should not be this much of an ordeal! Worse yet, they are only allowing indoor dining for those who are fully vaccinated. What self-respecting person would sit outside after reading that? Was happy to drive across town for sushi at a place that makes it easy to just get some food and doesn't discriminate. read more

Meh, probably the worst sushi i have ever had and way overpriced. They kept trying to push their 3 dollar draft beers, i think they asked like 7 or 8 times it got annoying. The main lady wants to be the center of attention, so she is taking shots and doing saki bomds with customers. The sushi was bad because the filling of whatever you had was mushy just not a very good texture. The rice was not cooked correctly it was a little hard. And they are trying to hard with flavors ie the sushi only tastes like lemen or peoper or smokey flavor. They have too many sushi rolls they need to pick the ones that are popular and focus on making those good. My kids wanted sushi on our way home, so I googled up a place that had decent reviews and wasn't pack like our usual spot. Upon arrival they had a outdoor setup and there service was bad the cashier had a rough attitude. The food took forever and we had to pick up our own order. They short us on condiments and when we went back to ask fir wasabi the dude had and attitude. My kids ordered the California rolls (2orders) and it was dried the rice was hard and it was imitation crab in the middle. There was another order of the call me babe and the salmon was really slimy like it was sitting there for a while so my wife picked it off, also my wife ordered the XOXO and it was awful the fish did not taste right and the rice was hard. It felt like they pre-made everything and had it sitting there. My wife and kids said we would of been better off getting sushi from Ralph's if we knew this place was this bad. And believe me we eat sushi a lot and like to try different restaurants. But by far I must admit this place is the worse for sushi.
