These folks most likely have some good things on the menu, but not what we ordered. A word to the wise: Don't order the paella or the fried rice. I saw some folks with a great big cast iron pan of paella on the table. It wasn't on the menu, and it turned out that they serve it two days a week. Our server had not mentioned it to me. So I ordered it. It was lousy. A huge pot of white rice with red sauce - enough rice for three people - with three shrimp, five or six mussels, and a bunch of squid. And oh, yeah... Since it hadn't been on the menu, I didn't know how much they charged for it, and when I got the bill, it was $55. Ridiculous. Fifty-five bucks for a pound of rice with a few pieces of seafood. My wife is vegetarian, so the only thing on the menu for her was the vegetable fried rice. Awful. A bunch of peas, some diced tomatoes, and some onion, also in a red sauce. Virtually no taste. Also had the ceviche as an appetizer, and didn't care for it. I almost always like ceviche, but didn't like this one. Maybe you will. Mostly big chunks of white fish with not much to go with it. Lots of peanuts in it. As I said, there were other interesting things on the menu. They might be good. Just avoid the things we had. read more

A disaster of a morning immediately saved by Old Town Camarillo and this charming spot. We ran into a flat tire problem on our way to Waypoint. America tire depot is down the road, so we stopped in here hoping it would relieve some of our frustration. I ordered the fig and goat cheese toast with a side of scrambled eggs and potatoes. Completely hit the spot. The eggs were delicious, well cooked. Potatoes were seasoned and heavenly with a little crunch. The toast was exactly what I wanted. When I tell you run do not walk, I mean run. I'm speechless, i'm blown away and i'm absolutely wowed. I was craving some steak tonight and I was not in the mood to drive far. I've seen Azafran on Yelp multiple times and i've been meaning to give it a try for a while. I'm so glad I did. I ordered the Sirloin, which they serve with mashed potatoes and mushrooms as well as the Chaufa vegetable fried rice with steak. I sent my bf to pick up the food and he stated the first impression he had was the walk to the restaurant. He was hit with the aroma of delicious food in the air. He stated the window was cracked just a bit and could see the chef preparing the Chaufa! The man who greeted him sounded like a man passionate about the food served to his customers. My bf stated that he had shown him each dish in the take out container to verify the order and make sure everything was up to par. The presentation of the sirloin was absolutely beautiful. :,) It had a nice crust on the outside, seasoned well and cooked just as I had requested. Very friendly and attentive service. Upscale take on traditional dishes, menu isn't too overwhelming and it's easy to find something tasty to eat. Delicious shrimp tacos - they had great flavor combinations, the sauce was the bomb. Modern and clean interior design. It has a bit more of a bistro ambiance, and it's a tad cold inside, but probably perfect in the summer. Large windows let a lot of natural light in. Ample seating space for guests. This is the 2nd time we've eaten here. The first time was for breakfast and the food was really good. I especially loved the individual French press coffee for $5. It had a great flavor. Today we went for lunch and the Shrimp tacos were perfectly cooked and came hot from the skillet. Everything tasted super fresh and flavorful. The Patatas bravas are really good but a little too rich for me. The potatos are always perfectly cooked and they came in a bowl with this spicy aioli or what I think is a mayonnaise based sauce. Really good but a little too heavy on the sauce for me. This didn't affect my rating because if you are a fan of the sauce then it would be great. The service is always good and the young woman who served us both times was very nice and helpful with recommendations and suggestions. My husband's burger was delicious and cooked to perfection. The lemonades are refreshing and not overly sweet. Highly recommend this little gem in Camarillo. We'll be back again. read more

I can't say enough about my recent experience at this restaurant. Took a friend for a birthday dinner the other night. I had been once before for dinner so I was already aware that the food and service were wonderful but this visit exceeded every expectation I had and then some. We had the paella, caesar salad, shrimp tacos and bone marrow. Everything was seasoned perfectly and tasted absolutely amazing. Our waitress, Ely (pronounced Ellie) was honestly one of the best waitresses I've ever had in my life. So friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. I snuck in a small cake for my friend with sparkler candles and she perfectly handled making it a surprise. There was a large party that were leaving while we were eating and I noticed one of the women asked for the chef and when he came out, she gave him a hug and thanked him for everything. This restaurant definitely gives family type vibes and is just so warm and welcoming. I will recommend it to everyone I know and I will definitely be back sooner rather than later. What a gem! When we first entered I wasn't sure what I was getting into as the space is smallish and it was a bit loud with a large group, but as soon as we got settled in to our table and were greeted very nicely by our server we were very comfortable. Th e menu was small but everything is made with such care and presented beautifully. The broccoli soup was deconstructed and unlike anything else I've ever had with the coconut milk and pepitas portion in the bowl and broccoli soup poured tableside. It was so interesting to try each element and then mix it together. The cheese dish with watermelon was surprising and a lovely sweet/savory dish. The pesto pasta was a great version of exactly what it was and my husband said the Ribeye was a tender cut cooked and seasoned to perfection with a nice sear. The potatoes were a bit on the salty side but we still loved them. Their take on tres leches was good with a nice sponginess and flavor. We will definitely come back! read more

This was a really nice birthday brunch for me with 3 friends. We tried different dishes and shared them with each other. We were all impressed with the flavors of the 4 different dishes (I wish I took pictures, but we were just enjoying the food and each other's company). Our waitress was sweet and spent time explaining the different brunch selections. We arrived at 10:30 and were the only ones at the restaurant. By the time we left a large group of 15 came in as well as another group of 6. I hope our Camarillo community supports this new unique restaurant. A friend and I walked in by chance last night, not knowing anything about this place. My goodness, what a pleasant surprise! Simple but thoughtful interior. Such nice service! The menu is elevated and unexpected. My friend had a simple bowl of pasta and pesto, and it was delicious. I had the burger, which was so good. The house potatoes on the side were excellent. We were there for lunch and enjoyed coconut lemonade, a simply yummy oddity, which I'd love to add a shot of vodka to! We tried this place today for the first time and it was delicious! So much flavor. We had goat cheese and fig toast( 4 pieces of toast in the order), steak and eggs, and the chicharron sandwich. We loved the food so much we were doing the happy dance while eating it. Restaurant itself is quaint, lots of green plants (which I love) a bit chilly inside but nice and clean. It is on the pricey side but worth it in my opinion. I will recommend this place to everyone I know. Wasn't crowded when we went in for breakfast on a Wednesday morning.
