    Coffee presse with utensils

You know that happy feeling when leave a restaurant after a wonderful experience? Yes, I found that restaurant right here in Camarillo-- Azafran! Admittedly I was craving steak and eggs, and was curious to know what this Azafran restaurant was all about-- actually my visit was long overdue as I had targeted the restaurant for some weeks to visit -- I wasn't to be disappointed. The drive to the restaurant was easy and parking also, so it kind of sets you up for success when the traffic obstacles are minimized. Upon entering the restaurant you're greeted by a very pleasant floor arrangement with tables nicely spaced, and decorated with utensils, napkins and flowers! The hostess also offered a warm welcome and shared the menu-- even though I had decided probably an hour before what I craved. Even though I wasn't thinking about a pre-meal drink I was also surprised by the coffee offering which was served in a nice press., accompanied by cream and sugar-- enough for 4 servings. The chefs kitchen is close to the seating area although it's out of eye level you can still see them working together to make your food. As you can see from the pictures the steak and eggs are presented in a very clean and enticing manner-- honestly I literally devoured this offering-- who wouldn't! I probably could have consumed a second steak it was that good! One last note, which I found very satisfying and that is there's no rush with the bill here -- you just take your time and savor the moment of the fine food and might I add the equally competitive pricing! Perfect Sunday.

    Steak and Eggs

I wasn't sure what to expect when I stopped in to try this place, but I'm glad I finally did. The flavors of the steak and eggs, along with the side sauces that have a slight spice, all had my taste buds celebrating. Even their fresh squeezed orange juice was a perfect pairing for the steak and eggs. My buddy said his ribeye sandwich was amazing too. The place was clean, ambiance was nice and service was friendly. I can't wait to come back and try more menu items. Update: the very next day I came back with the wife. The place was busy, there's only 1 server, but she did a great job in juggling all the tables. This time I true the ribeye sandwich which was another amazing dish. My early valentine date for the Chaufa with chicken which was a cross between a paella and chicken fried rice, also pretty good and a hefty portion. As an appetizer we had pork belly bites which ended up being my favorite. That's this critic's review, until next time, I'll be eating.

This restaurant is absolutely incredible. I cannot believe it has been open for two years and I live so close. I wish I had discovered it sooner because everything was amazing from start to finish. The dessert, the appetizers, the atmosphere, all of it was perfect. I had the paella and it was outstanding, full of flavor and beautifully prepared. We will definitely be coming back. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Do not miss this hidden gem.

Second time here and I'm in love! It's such a peaceful yet vibey space . Service is great and food is phenomenal. We ordered: Smoked salmon is a must have! 5/5 Neapolitan 5/5 I dream about this dish it's so good. Calentado 4/5 It was really good just not my fave next to the Neapolitan and salmon. It's light in flavor so I'd suggest have this first . French press Coffee was coffee but in a press! Herbal tea (in a press too) 5/5

This meal was just amazing . We always forget how incredible every meal we have had here is . Tonight we came here and the halibut ceviche it was so fresh . It came with sweet potato smash which seems not right but when you taste this infusion of flavors coconut milk and all the secrets , wow is about all you can say ! The combination of flavors is so unique . I had the duck . That duck was the best I have ever had ! We asked for the owner who is the chef to just say how good it was ! The perfect amount of salt crunch moisture and just the flavors was perfection .i have had duck I make duck ... this duck wins . The service from Elle was good too , she knows the dishes and exactly the region they ate from . The menu offers many options . Something for all but not overwhelming with too many choices . This restaurant is so quaint in our town of Camarillo Thank you

Flavor has hit the streets of Old Town Camarillo. A family owned and operated Colombian and Peruvian fusion restaurant is bringing much needed flavor and tradition to downtown Camarillo. All of my friends have ranted and raved about this spot saying they are a must try! With almost a perfect 5 star rating on Yelp this spot has been on my "need to hurry here" list for a hot minute. Azafran has made a name for themselves and are definitely a favorite amongst locals. The menu is intriguing and there is a perfect mixture of classic breakfast dishes and more unique plates. Staff are friendly and welcoming, it's definitely a family friendly restaurant. Here's what we had: Chicharron Sandwich : This was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time! The Chicharrón - pork was extra crispy and flavorful. Perfectly done and I loved the fatty bits. The fresh and pickled veggies gave a lightness to this sandwich and the side spicy mayo aioli-oil drizzle was heavenly. Some papas on the side, this was a filling and delicious dish. I'll be coming back for this again and would HIGHLY recommend. Lox Toast: my friend had a generous portion of Lox Toast which she was super happy with. The portions are generous and the toast also comes with a side of their famous papas or fruit. If you are looking for a more classic breakfast dish here their toasts all sounded fabulous. To drink they have some unique creations. I opted for a Coconut Lemonade which was so refreshing and tasty. My friend had a gorgeous Colombian cold press coffee. We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant and it definitely was a delicious meal. The food is a 10/10 and the interior is cozy and warm. The staff were very friendly and the pace is very casual and laid-back. This is the kind of place you go for a slow weekend meal with friends and good conversation. Can't wait to come back soon and please give this local small buisness a try.

    Tres Leches Cake

Happened to be in Camarillo today. We decided to try Azafran. First time here. We walked into a very comfortable dining room. It wasn't terribly busy and we were seated immediately. We started with the shrimp taco appetizer. It was very flavorful and you could immediately tell that the shrimp was extremely fresh! I ordered the Pomodoro pasta with Mushroom and Shrimp. My wife asked for the Steak Chaufa. I received the Parpadelle with mushroom and shrimp in. Not exactly what I ordered, but I ate it and loved it. My wife's fried rice with steak was good too. We both could not finish our dishes. They were filling. The topper though was the Trees Leches cake (yes we saved a bit of room for desert). It was moist and had just a touch of sweetness. I prefer it this way, not too sweet. Overall, it was a great find. The server was very nice. The atmosphere was very comfortable. I bookmarked this for a future trip to Camarillo.

    Pork Belly Bites
    Selene C.

Excellent ! Kudos to the Chef ! The Octopus was delicious and perfectly cooked. The Pomodoro sauce was nice and smooth. The Salmon was amazing with sautéed mushrooms and those Pork Belly bites !!! WOW. Located in the downtown area, the restaurant has nice decor and soft music in the background. Maria was on top of everything, checking up on us, making sure everything was to our satisfaction and IT WAS ! Thank you.

A Camarillo hidden gem -- what an amazing culinary experience. The flavor profile of each dish was incredible, from the perfectly cooked Grilled Octopus, to the uniquely delicious Peruvian Ceviche. I would come back for the Peruvian Ceviche alone, as it was one of the best tasting dishes I've had in a long while. I ordered everything for takeout, but it held up really well. The server who helped me out was very friendly and patient. Although we didn't eat our meal inside, the ambiance was very warm and welcoming, with nice decor. Next time, we'll definitely have to eat there. We tried the Peruvian Ceviche, Shrimp Tacos, Grilled Octopus, Chow Plate with Pork Belly, and I got a Coconut Lemonade to top it off. Everything was exceptional, and I can't wait to try more items off the menu next time we visit.

    Octopus appetizer! Just try it!
    Tina M.

Delicioso! Saturday breakfast date, Sade playlist on while Hubs and I shared the avocado toast and açai bowl with French dripped coffee. If you haven't eaten here yet, you're missing out! Would've posted a pic but couldn't wait!

    Bone marrow
    Megan G.

So happy I found this quaint little spot in Camarillo!! Started off with the pan seared octopus - the sweetness of the pear paired well with the crispy, yet tender octopus. The roasted bone marrow was amazing. The marrow had great seasoning topped with chimichuri for a little kick, and was served with garlicky buttered toast. For my main, I went with the lamb foreshank, which was fall off the bone tender. Service was great and friendly. Ambiance is casual. I really appreciate places like this where you can get dinner quality meals at lunchtime! Highly recommend if you're in Old Town!

    Chaufa with shrimp!
    Toshi I.

Visiting with friends who love in the area. Super small menu but everything is high quality. My shrimp tacos were absolutely scrumptious. Plump shrimp perfectly cooked and best flavor. Vibes in three. I thought this isn't a large amount, however, I had some of the chaufa. We also added shrimp there too. This was a great value and therefore I did eat some of this as well. My friend, a picky eater, ordered the burger without the egg. She commented that she loved it and remarked that it all stayed together under the bun and nothing fell out. Street parking

This is a hidden gem in our small town! Everything I've had is fantastic: the salmon toast ( all the toasts are very filling), the octopus, the bone marrow, the paella - which is only available Tuesdays and Wednesdays is incredible!! Different types too, seafood paella, vegetable paella, meat paella, all huge portions all delicious. Staff is so friendly, the owner is the chef and so so nice! I went for my first time last week and was back today to try more delish dishes! It's my new favorite spot :)

The menu is super customizable, which is perfect if you're not into typical breakfast plates or just want things your way. Everything comes out hot and the flavors are both classic and unique. The Eggs Benedicts are a must, especially the Baja-style version with chorizo, avocado, and that smoky chipotle hollandaise (drooling thinking about it now). The bacon sriracha burrito is flavorful without being overly spicy, and the chicken fried steak is tender, comforting, and exactly what you want it to be. Do NOT skip the mojo potatoes or the hash cake, they're both top-tier sides. Food is definitely the star here. In our experience the drinks are just OK. The lattes don't quite feel like cafe craft quality, but they do the job. They do a good cup of regular ole joe though. Service is friendly, welcoming, but not efficient. The staff tries their absolute best, but if you're in a hurry you'll need to waive them down each and every time. Weekend waits can be as long as 45 mins to an hour with you constantly having to check in on your status, guess that's a good thing! In my culture, the first meal of the New Year sets the tone for the year - as in a fulfilling, enjoyable meal means you will have a fulfilling, enjoyable year. I'd like to thank Country Harvest for setting that tone for me with an absolutely delicious breakfast, the charming atmosphere, and the delightful staff - including Gloria, the manager. Everyone there was efficient and I enjoyed hearing one of the employees singing while he worked. Country Harvest not only provided generous portions (I had a hard time eating it all!) and a variety of teas to select from, but the food was cooked to perfection, and the service was top drawer and fast. On top of all that, they gave me a senior discount, which was much appreciated. I had just left Denny's where I had paid for a tea I didn't even get to enjoy, due to being ignored after waiting about 30 minutes for someone to take my order - after they were taking orders for those seated after me and made me aware they knew I was still waiting - but still did not take my order. Then one of the Denny's employees was actually smug about it, saying when I went to the register to pay for the tea, "Hey...it happens sometimes," while grinning as if it was funny. It remains a mystery if he ignored me because I am a senior, I was not of a background he liked, or he didn't think my one meal would give him enough of a tip, but he was unprofessional and he made sure I won't ever return to Denny's. I do thank him, though, because if he hadn't been such a jerk, I wouldn't have gotten frustrated enough to leave and try to find a place where I could have that good first meal of the New Year - at Country Harvest. His rudeness led me to finding Country Harvest and I am not at all surprised that your restaurant was busy on New Year's Day and Denny's wasn't. Now that I know you're the place to go, you've won my business going forward and I will happily recommend you to others. Thank you so much for truly making my day! As for Denny's losing a customer, "Hey...it happens sometimes."

Gabriel was my server and came shortly after I recieved my coffee and took my order. I ordered the California Omelet with sliced tomatoes and an English muffin. The food came out nice, hot and tasty. The service was fantastic as was the ambiance and of course the food. Highly recommended

The restaurant was somewhat "hidden" in the back of a multi building complex. Staff were quite busy but friendly and attentive. We took the first available table inside with views of the kitchen instead of the covered patio outside. Not sure what to eat, the menu listed many choices for both breakfast and lunch that should satisfy your hunger pains. The combo and sub choices also added more to the decision making! Overall the food was filling and satisfied some of our cravings for a Hawaiian style breakfast. The deluxe loco moco was good for 2 to share (with an extra plate included) with a beef patty grilled to your choice of doneness and came with spam and Portuguese sausages. My other daughter devoured her Portuguese sausage classic breakfast while I deviated by ordering the chili verde and eggs special. Definitely satisfied our hunger and would come back again.
