If there is a part of paradise which serves food, what we had at Aziza definitely is being served there. First of all. Aziza is kind. They accommodated a last minute reschedule - which, let's be honest, in today's day and age is like finding a gold mine. Second. Did I mention food that is served in heaven? A group of five of us went to dinner and we ordered almost every vegetarian dish on the menu. The olives (which came out juicy and warm), the trio of dips and the flatbread (that melted us all), that charred lettuce with a rich nutty dressing, the burrata with kiwis, oh and oh, that cauliflower. Be still, my beating heart. That food, which clearly was meant for gods and accidentally made it to our table. The shakshouka and the couscous entrees following closely behind in rich glory with that delectable cornbread that showed up straight from the oven. I am not exaggerating, dear reader, each bite of food was a gastronomic delight. We wrapped the evening with a date cake that came topped with a rich vanilla ice cream and toasted pecans and the subtle competition of the warm cake and the cold ice cream on our palates made for a perfect culmination to our dinner. And third. The person mixing the drinks back at the bar knows his business well. The mocktails and the cocktails were brilliantly refreshing. The tamarinds and the citrus looking out from the glasses wide eyed, ready to amaze. Good food is one of the few untainted pleasures of humanity. And Aziza served us heaps of it. The vibes inside are dark and intimate, good for small groups or dates, but still have the space for bigger groups. Everything we had was so delicious. The highlights for us were definitely the appetizers. We loved the trio dip, cauliflower, grilled octopus and corn bread. The lamb shank was delicious as expected but I would opt to try other meat/fish dishes instead. Overall I would come back and try other items on the menu! Divine sums up the experience and food here. We came here for a birthday brunch celebration and were met with an aesthetic ambiance and friendly server. We had some cocktails and the lebneh as well as an appts to we that I can't recall the name of. The lebneh was tangy and sweet at the same time, paired with the roasted granola and some fruit. The second appetizer included essentially lettuce wraps filled with a spiced mixture. I had the French toast topped with huckleberry jam and pistachio creme, cooked perfectly. We ordered a lot of dishes: the piquillo dip with sumac flatbread, roasted cauliflower with muhammara, shakshuka, cornbread with harrisa buttter and chicken basteeya. Came here to celebrate a late Valentine's Day, and was surprised it was hard to book reservations even after the busy day. On the corner of Geary and 22nd, this unassuming but otherwise large restaurant made me thought I drove past it. Parking is tough, and makes you wonder if the parking situation is worth the hassle - and the money. We arrived ~10min after our scheduled time and were escorted to our seat immediately. For starters, service is very friendly and they seemed to know the menu very well, so feel free to bombard them with questions. We ended up ordering the 3 spreads, octopus, basteeya, and shakshuka. The 3 spreads, though very picturesque and tasty, was very similar to other places we've had cuisine wise, but at an elevated price. To top off, the bread was $4 extra (it was NOT free!!). The octopus is very reminiscent of a steak, but with an octopus twist. You can taste the char, and it was cooked to perfection Would definitely recommend ordering this. The basteeya is basically a sweet chicken pot pie, but the bread is more crunchy and flaky. It was pretty good, but a little too sweet and you can feel yucky after eating most of it. Recommend sharing it, but also do not think it's worth $36. The shakshuka has a little bit of spice but otherwise is good and flavorful. This was recommended to us by our waitress, but unfortunately I don't think it fits our Chinese taste buds. Service, though friendly and relatively attentive, was super slow. I think we waited 1 hour before our last dish came out. I get that the tables are small and the dishes itself are big, but they seemed pretty stubborn on giving your orders one at a time. You had to "unlock" the next dish in your order by first finishing the current dish on the table. Our dining experience took way longer than expected, to a point where my boba places were going to close soon! For reference, I came in at 5:35 and didn't leave until 7:20. tl;dr - solid spot, a little pricey due to location and decor. Get the octopus, and don't forget about the 6% surcharge. Came here with a late lunch reservation (1pm) on a weekend. We still ended up having to wait about 20 minutes for our table, and we were told they were super understaffed. It also took a while for our order to be taken, and it felt like they forgot part of our order. Dishes came out slowly, even though the rest of the place seemed to be starting to empty out. We had to ask about our food twice, same as the table behind us, and one of the staff started taking away our utensils and asked if we wanted the check before we even received our last dish. Ended up waiting almost 30 minutes after we ate all the rest of our food just for that dish (the shrimp polenta), which slightly ruined my enjoyment of the dish. We were told the food runners just forgot about our section, which doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me, but at least we got our food in the end. Normally, I don't care at all about a restaurant's ambiance or service - frankly, I love shouting for a waiter in a crowded dimsum restaurant. I feel like overall, the food was fine, not exceptional, but I was really disappointed by the level of service for the price point, hence my middling review. The food: We really wanted to try the kofte brochette, but were told that the brunch menu was a misprint and they didn't actually have it available for brunch! If that's true, the restaurant should at least edit their online menus, because if we had known, we would have come for dinner instead :( Beghrir pancakes - an interesting texture on the pancakes, and very honey forward overall. Delicious for 2 bites, but then became a little one noted. Would probably work better if you shared with 4-6 people and everyone had a single bite. Burrata - the best dish we ate. Wow... I was very happy with my time at Aziza! We made a reservation and didn't have to wait once we walked in. They have two different dining rooms. We were taken to a more secluded one, which I preferred. We happened to be eating around brunch time, so the menu was limited. At first I was worried, but the dishes were amazing! We got the shakshuka with kefta on the side and scrambled eggs with avocado toast. The shakshuka was definitely my favorite. The tomato flavor with eggs and chickpeas was everything. Adding the butter and syrup on top made it delicious. It was kind of soggy, so I had to dock a star. Caesar Salad 5/5 - Crunchy, flavorful, fresh. Prawns 4/5 - Good but the dish either needed more prawns to justify the price or the price needed to go down. Shakshouka 5/5 - TWO runny, gummy eggs! Tender chick peas. Good seasoning for the tomato base. Eggs benedict 3/5 - The smoked salmon was kind of fishy, I was a little scared of food poisoning. I liked the mushroom layer, making it unique. Potatoes were kinda dry. Yogurt 5/5 - Juicy fruit, yogurt wasn't overly sweet, crunchy granola. Kid's fan fave. Came by here on a whim as we were nearby and my friend had wanted to give Aziza a try. We called ahead to see if they would be able to seat us since it was close to closing time for their Brunch/Lunch service. Luckily, we were able to get a seat at the bar area without a reservation for 2. If you have a larger party, I would suggest reserving in advance. The bar area was separate from the main dining area; the ambiance of the bar area was dimly lit compared to the main dining area, but overall it made for a more chill and quieter dining experience. Staff was friendly and helpful overall, but service was a bit slow. We ordered: 1) Shakshuka(8/10)($23) - A very good rendition of Shakshuka! I really liked it there was a plentiful amount of chickpeas and the sauce was just the right amount without being too watery/runny. The two egg yolks added creaminess to the Shakshuka and complemented it well. The bread that came with it was good; but it wasn't grilled like it says on the menu; I think I liked it better that way since you have a soft bread filling with a firm crust. The Shakshuka tomato sauce was savory, tangy and bright which tends to lean on the more sour side which might be off putting for some; but overall I really enjoyed this dish! I just wish there was more bread that came with the dish! 2) Moroccan Tea(6.3/10)($10) - A decent tea; I don't really know what the typical Moroccan tea if suppose to be like; but my friend who has been there said that put a lot more mint and is sugar is on the side. The mint wasn't very present in this tea. It came in a heavy cast iron tea pot. It had pine nuts, which was a nice touch. Overall it wasn't that sweet or minty and just an okay pot of tea. 3) Side of Potatoes(3/10)($11) - Originally, we wanted to get some more carbs to eat on with the Shakshuka, but the potatoes ended up being overly salty. According to the manager, the chef/cook who made the potatoes was fairly new and over salted/seasoned the potatoes. The potatoes were also over cooked/fried. The manager was happy to have it remade, but since they turned off their fryer for brunch service already, he offered a dessert instead and removed the potatoes from our bill. 4) Date Cake(with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream)(7.5/10) - We received this in lieu of the potatoes and overall it was a good dessert. The date cake was soft and warm; even better when paired with the vanilla bean ice cream! It came with a caramel sauce drizzled around it and some pecans as well. The food overall was pretty good(minus the potatoes) and service was decent. Would definitely come back to give their dinner menu a try since our waiter said the lamb shank was really good! I want to preface that I am not a fan of sweet and savory to start off with. This was my first time trying Moroccan cuisine and I found out that a lot of their dishes are sweet and savory. Some of the dishes felt really heavy, since they use a lot of nuts, dairy, and bread combo. The trio of spreads does not come with bread, you gotta pay for it separately. The basteeya was extremely sweet to me. Tasted like a savory dessert with chicken and spiced nuts. I couldn't even taste the ~beef~ and oyster in the tartare since it came with other ingredients. The anchovy plate came with bread and pistachio spread. It was another filling plate. My favorite was the grilled octopus! Tasted very fresh and citrusy. The slow cooked short rib was also amazing, but I felt so full by the time we got to it that it was enjoyed at a later time! Service was great! We were sat in the smaller back area with nowhere for sound to travel but to echo back so it got a bit loud. The shakshuka was creamy and inventive. The Bloody Mary used real heirloom tomatoes and had a rich flavor. The service is just too slow here. It's clear it's understaffed. For that reason it won't be a repeat for me. Slow service can be fine, but it took 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive after ordering. I came back a year later and I can confirm, it's still just as good as it was a year ago. If you don't want to read the rest of the review, just know: everything was amazing. It feels like you can't miss here. Beef tartare: Usually tartares come with a chip/cracker/something hard and crunchy to dip into it. Aziza puts the crunchy stuff on top. No need to use your hands and everything comes together so perfectly. Cauliflower appetizer: There aren't enough words in the English dictionary to explain how good this was. It had a crunchy exterior, insanely soft interior and the sauces on top all blended together for an insane experience in your mouth. Do not skip when you come here! Watermelonkiss (cocktail): I was looking for something overly sweet and this delivered! Yuzu custard: This won't be for everyone. It was sweet, sure, but the lemon-thyme aspect to this custard gave this a sweet-savory combination. We loved it but we heard from the server that some people weren't fans. Shakshuka & Date cake: These two were tried and true classics from our last visit. I can confirm they were just as great as last time. The grapes were really good, too Braised lamb shank (55): with cracked wheat, moyer prune, sweet potato, herb jam - it was disappointing after the first two dishes. Yes, tender and but the flavor wasn't quite there. Not sure why it was so highly recommended. First time coming for brunch, which is much more lowkey. I was disappointed to see that they do not serve the cornbread during this time. Spiced yogurt and granola: nice flavors, but portion is small for the price. Custard French toast: The mascarpone added a nice umami complement to the sweetness from the huckleberry and French toast. Recommend sharing if you don't have a large sweet tooth. Shakshuka: great flavors, but wished they provided more than just one slice of bread. Grilled prawns: Polenta and shrimp were cooked nicely. Overall, brunch provides a more low-key dining fare that is family friendly. Food didn't hit the spot as much as dinner, but still had a good time. read more

Incredible food, this was some of the best food I've had in the Bay Area. The prices were also affordable considering the amount and quality of food myself, my partner, and my friend ordered. I felt the service was slow the day that we attended. We had to grab the attention of our server, and the host seemed very swamped with people needing their attention. This is random, but I feel like the design of their entrance could be a bit larger. It seemed a bit bottlenecked up the front. Also, we sat towards the very front entrance, and it has been cold lately so we were chilly. Regardless, the salmon Yuzu was some of the best salmon that I've ever had. The flavors were so unique. And it felt so light. I enjoyed all of the other dishes, and I highly recommend dining at Aziza if you're in the Richmond area! read more

Aziza was a Moroccan delight and magical experience. My girlfriend and I got a reservation 2-3 days before a Saturday night dinner. One thing we noticed right off the bat was that it is very loud inside. This feels due to the nature of how the acoustics and sound persist based on the layout. Despite this, we were seated right away and were treated to incredible food. Everything we ordered other than the bell pepper dish was exemplary and exceeded our expectations. A major shoutout to the life changing cornbread which takes 20 minutes to prepare but is totally worth it. I will definitely be back to Aziza read more

We got lucky and found street parking close by immediately. We had 8.30 reservations. We waited at the bar for our table and then taken to a smaller room off the bar. Not the main dining room. I'm glad...the main dining room was loud. Bartender was nice. Didn't catch his name. Place is decorated cute...green palm leaves wallpaper. The food was really excellent. We weren't that hungry having had a late lunch. I wish I lived closer I would come back to try out all of their menu. We ordered 4 things and everything was outstanding but I'm going to put my favorites in order. 1. Prawns- wow wow wow. I cleaned the plate. 2. Cornbread- what everyone says about this dish is true. It's amazing. 3. Octopus- perfectly cooked and the herbs and cous cous with it was lovely. 4. Chicken confit - pastry was perfect. I'm not a huge fan of my food being sweet. This was slightly sweet but not obnoxiously sweet so I didn't mind it. Don't sleep on this place. Food is really incredible. Service however was less than stellar. Our server Joey was fairly disinterested in us and just not helpful at all. Was difficult to get his attention. His server assistant made up for it though. Very friendly. Wow this restaurant is fantastic and has a Michelin rating for a reason! The small plates here were absolutely amazing and to die for, I can't wait to one day dine here again. I would definitely focus efforts on ordering apps and small plates because those were the highlights of the meal. Though people rave about the basteeya we found it to be too rich and sweet for our liking and the shakshuka was also good but reminded me of a fancy chickpea curry. The small plates however were amazing! What stood out were the mussels, salmon, broccolini, cauliflower and the bread with their housemade butter. So flavorful and delicious, and a great spot for a celebration as they gave us their chocolate cookies on the house! read more

Came here for brunch and while the food was delicious, the service was bizarre. We were a table of 4 and 2 people ordered soft scrambled eggs, and the other 2 people ordered other items. The first two items came out and we waited, waited, and waited for the soft scrambled eggs. It ended up being about 20 minutes between the service of the first two dishes and the soft scrambled eggs, which is an eternity at brunch. We joked about staff actively avoiding us (they were!) and wondered exactly how long it takes the kitchen to make the most basic item on the menu. Finally they were delivered with a long winded explanation about how we were table 23 and they had been taken to table 32 instead. I get that mistakes happen, but that was it. No apology or offer to discount anything on the bill. I might be back because it was easy to get a reservation and there was easy parking nearby early on a Saturday, but it won't go into my regular rotation. read more

Service was good and the ambiance was nice. We ordered the beef tartare, grilled octopus, lamb shank, and the basteeya. The appetizers were both really delicious and had unique flavors. Maybe this is my own fault, but we ordered the lamb and I'm not particularly big into the gamy flavor. It was really soft, but just a little too gamy for me. The basteeya was also slightly too sweet. All in all, it was a nice restaurant, but hard for me to justify the cost. read more

Located on busy Geary - parking was very tricky to find. Walking in, the restaurant is spacious, dimly lit and inviting. Very classy and perfect for date nights. It was also pretty toasty warm. We came with reservations and were seated right away in a roomy booth. Trio of spreads with flatbread: absolutely delicious. A must get!! All three spreads were so uniquely different and flavorful yet delicious in their own way. The flatbread was also perfectly soft and lightly toasted on the outside with light seasoning. I just thought it was odd that the flatbread was an additional charge to the spreads - would rather it just be included at a higher price because nobody would be able to eat the spreads just by itself. Mussels: very fresh mussels and baked and seasoned with a delicious buttery sauce. Came with a side of bread. Burrata: fresh burrata with carrot, ginger and dukkah that complemented it very well. Came with a side of bread. Smaller portion. Grilled octopus: oh my goodness this must be one of the best octopus I've ever had. The octopus was perfectly tender with a subtle charcoal taste to it. Also came with other things that really complemented the flavor well. Highly highly recommend getting this! Lamb shank: pretty large portion of meat (as big as my hand lol). Very tender and slid off bone. It was a bit sweet for our taste but still good. There were only 2 individual gender neutral bathrooms (albeit roomy and nice ones) for the whole restaurant - always a long line for them. I wish there were more bathrooms. Service was very attentive as they cleared our plates and utensils in between courses and made sure our waters were always filled. They also happily boxed our leftovers since we had too much food for 2 people. read more
