    trio of spreads
    Nada S.

We recently visited this restaurant and appreciated the creativity the chef brought to the dishes. The food was unique and clearly inspired by Moroccan cuisine, though it felt more like a modern fusion interpretation rather than a truly authentic Moroccan experience. The service, unfortunately, was quite slow -- we waited about an hour and fifteen minutes for our food, which made the evening feel longer than expected. I also hoped for more authenticity in the ambiance. Even small touches, like traditional Arabic or Moroccan music, could have helped create a warmer cultural atmosphere. Overall, there is definitely creativity and potential here, especially if you enjoy chefs adding their own twist to classic dishes. Hoping the restaurant continues refining both the dining experience and the service.

The basteeya is really heavy, sweet, salty, oily, dense at the same time. I didn't feel great after eating a couple bites. All the food was really heavy and expensive if you want to try multiple things Would be cute if you were on a work dinner or someone else was paying otherwise the prices felt steep for the quality of service, they took a while to box our food would have preferred to box it ourselves so we can leave sooner

Food - rich, tasty, heavy. Service - fine. Ambiance - we were seated in the back room, which didn't quite have the same vibe as the main room. It is more intimate, but it felt like being tucked away in a forgotten corner. Might be fine for a date, but if you're looking forward to dining in the main room, best to let them know your preference when making a reservation. The highlight of the meal was probably the trio of spreads, although the chicken basteeya was good, too.

Divine sums up the experience and food here. We came here for a birthday brunch celebration and were met with an aesthetic ambiance and friendly server. We had some cocktails and the lebneh as well as an appts to we that I can't recall the name of. The lebneh was tangy and sweet at the same time, paired with the roasted granola and some fruit. The second appetizer included essentially lettuce wraps filled with a spiced mixture. I had the French toast topped with huckleberry jam and pistachio creme, cooked perfectly. We also tried the Shakshuka and a dish with prawns, capping it off with a cappuccino. Everything was simply delicious. Dining is a bit pricey here but worth it for the food! I would love to come back. Happy eating!

Aziza is a total mood. The decor hits that perfect sweet spot of dark, soothing, and sophisticated. It's the kind of atmosphere that lets you really focus on the food. And speaking of the food: the dips are the undisputed stars here. Every single one we tried was packed with flavor and perfectly textured. While the flatbread is incredible on its own, its true purpose in life is clearly to serve as a vehicle for those dips. The Shakshuka was another standout, beautifully presented with a sophisticated foam that really elevated the dish. We also tried the Cornbread, which was a delightful surprise. I expected a simple side, but it was unexpectedly sweet and completely hit the mark. The waiting staff was nice and funny. Any chance of a South Bay expansion?

Came here for a Saturday dinner and we were very impressed with the service and food! All the dishes tasted top notch!! We ordered a lot of dishes: the piquillo dip with sumac flatbread, roasted cauliflower with muhammara, shakshuka, cornbread with harrisa buttter and chicken basteeya. We were pretty full by the end and took 2 of the dishes as to-go. Loved the place and will definitely be back to try more dishes. Ambiance was pretty great, lots of seating but definitely needs reservations. We came in at 5pm and the place was pretty full by 6pm. Street parking can get tricky.

Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Portion to Price: 3/5 Overall: Food was standard fare. The extended review... Food: Custard French Toast - 3/5 - Definitely more of a toast than a custard toast. Service: 3/5 - Standard service. Ambiance: 4/5 - A very well decorated interior. Portion to Price: 3/5 - Pricing for portion was fair.

Came here to celebrate a late Valentine's Day, and was surprised it was hard to book reservations even after the busy day. On the corner of Geary and 22nd, this unassuming but otherwise large restaurant made me thought I drove past it. Parking is tough, and makes you wonder if the parking situation is worth the hassle - and the money. We arrived ~10min after our scheduled time and were escorted to our seat immediately. For starters, service is very friendly and they seemed to know the menu very well, so feel free to bombard them with questions. We ended up ordering the 3 spreads, octopus, basteeya, and shakshuka. The 3 spreads, though very picturesque and tasty, was very similar to other places we've had cuisine wise, but at an elevated price. To top off, the bread was $4 extra (it was NOT free!!). The octopus is very reminiscent of a steak, but with an octopus twist. You can taste the char, and it was cooked to perfection Would definitely recommend ordering this. The basteeya is basically a sweet chicken pot pie, but the bread is more crunchy and flaky. It was pretty good, but a little too sweet and you can feel yucky after eating most of it. Recommend sharing it, but also do not think it's worth $36. The shakshuka has a little bit of spice but otherwise is good and flavorful. This was recommended to us by our waitress, but unfortunately I don't think it fits our Chinese taste buds. Service, though friendly and relatively attentive, was super slow. I think we waited 1 hour before our last dish came out. I get that the tables are small and the dishes itself are big, but they seemed pretty stubborn on giving your orders one at a time. You had to "unlock" the next dish in your order by first finishing the current dish on the table. Our dining experience took way longer than expected, to a point where my boba places were going to close soon! For reference, I came in at 5:35 and didn't leave until 7:20. tl;dr - solid spot, a little pricey due to location and decor. Get the octopus, and don't forget about the 6% surcharge. Solid place, but don't see myself coming back.

Tried this authentic Moroccan restaurant for brunch and I tried their french toast, sausages and orange juice very delicious!! I think the restaurant itself was aesthetically pleasing to look at as well. I enjoyed the distinctive taste and texture of the different dishes i tried. It was really out of this world experience not typical American but I really enjoyed it and would go back again!!

Came for a late brunch on a Sunday and had a good experience! Food: each dish was fresh and tasty. Normally I'm not the biggest fan of shakshouka but theirs was so flavorful, didn't taste like just tomatoes. Fair warning the French toast was soaked thoroughly so texture-wise, it was a bit too soggy for my preference. Still tasty tho! Service: not the fastest but staff was friendly. Our reservation was at the tail end of their brunch hours so most tables were full which resulted in the slower service Ambiance: clean and pleasant vibe inside

Came here for my son's belated birthday and we ordered the entire menu, basically. Left so full and satisfied. Don't skip the flatbread -- it's soft, warm, and addictive. The texture is perfect. Loved the energy, loved the food, loved that we celebrated here. 10/10 would carb-load again.

We had a wonderful meal at Aziza. Everything was delicious! We had a dining credit to use up before the end of the year and decided to try Aziza after having had it on the to-try list for a while. Our experience did not disappoint - in fact it exceeded my expectations. Service was fantastic - both friendly and professional, and attentive. Definitely feels like a nice dinner spot to splurge on. FOOD // + Corn bread with harissa butter: *the best corn bread we've ever had!* + Eggplant with piquillo pepper, capers, golden raisins, pine nuts + Cauliflower with muhammara, hazelnut, urfa + Grilled broccolini with green charmoula, preserved lemon, alliums + Shakshuka with leeks, chickpeas, japlapeno cream, hen yolk, grilled bread + Salmon with saffron, preserved yuzu, beets, kumquats, grapes + Kefta brochette with miso-date butter, sesame, pickled grapes, onions + Braised lamb shank with cracked wheat, moyer prune, sweet potato, herb jam + Yuzu custard with cherry mascarpone, lemon thyme, chive I'd highly recommend everything above (though note that the menu sometimes changes a bit), except I didn't quite love the shakshuka - it was quite acidic and needed more of that delicious Josey Baker bread to accompany it.

The bagels - extremely good, New York level bagels. They're rip and dip (like Pop Up Bagels in NYC) which I'm a huge fan of. Got the salt bagel, eggything (egg everything), and pumpernickel with scallion cream cheese. The cream cheese is incredible, super rich and kind of buttery. The eggything was really fluffy and definitely my favorite of the three, with plain salt a close second. I liked that it wasn't extremely salty. At night, we did have to wait but it was only 30 minutes for a party of five, and there are nice waiting areas to stay in the meantime or you can walk around Richmond. We sat inside but the outdoor seating looked nice so I definitely want to try that again on a nice day. Got the blood orange soda, which was refreshing and sweeter than the bottled ones you'd get at Trader Joe's. We shared two pizzas between 5 people which was plenty, they're Detroit style so pretty thick. The vodka margherita was pretty good but my favorite was the Sausage and peppers, which has these really cute spherical peppers that looked like cherry tomatoes at first, and is topped off with a creamy sauce on top. We also got a side of ranch which was very dill forward, it paired well with both pizzas.

We waited in line for about 50 minutes and landed on bar seating. Service was efficient and accommodating. * * * O U R P I C K S * * * DOUBLE PATTY, DOUBLE CHEESE ~ shrettuce, pickles, onions and French-style potato salad. This was juicy, but it was missing tomatoes and more lettuce and onions. Just felt heavy and greasy, because it was double meat and double cheese. It needed some freshness from extra vegetables to make it cleaner tasting. I tasted the pickles in between the patties, but it still didn't cut the greasiness. The buns were a bit too soft and they didn't seem toasted, so while holding it, it became smooshed. Potato salad was ok, though I'd probably prefer fries with ketchup. It's half-cut roaster potatoes with a bland dressing, because the potatoes are big pieces. If they were cut smaller, you'll taste the dressing more than just potatoes. 3.5/5 SAUSAGE AND PEPPERS PIZZA ~ fennel sausages, Jimmy Nardello pepper cream, pearl peppers, mozzarella, & red sauce. This was ok. Crust was crispy, but the pizza bread was more dense than we would have liked. The Jimmy Nardello pepper cream sauce on top was heavy and it was too saucy for us. Mozzarella had a good cheese pull and was good. But like the burger, it felt heavy. Needed more acidity to balance and lighten the load. 3.5/5 I guess on Wednesday nights, people don't mind waiting an hour for the burgers. If it had sliced tomatoes and more lettuce, it would have been much better. But for $15, they should have the essentials to make a good burger. As for the pizza, maybe we chose the wrong one for us. We left disappointed. In my opinion, it's overhyped for 1hr+ wait.
