The first time we went there the food was good. But gradually it went down hill. The issue was the fried shrimp. You could taste the Grease. We've been taking out from Azteca for a few years now. To manage expectations, we only order the basics because we have been disappointed. We get either the beef fajitas (the more expensive one), soft chicken tacos with rice and beans on the side, and must, must, must get the guac! We stopped by for a late breakfast. We were the only two people in the restaurant. There's no breakfast menu,but our server offered us huevos rancheros. What a treat! The eggs were perfectly cooked and served with yellow rice, refried beans and garnished with fresh avocado and slices of manchengo!. The coffee was aromatic. Their Enchiladas de Mole and Enchiladas Suizas are my favorites and they have some of the best guacamole. Wanted Mexican food and came across this place. Read some reviews on yelp and decided, let's give it a try. Being a Mexican food fanatic, I was a bit skeptical seeing as how most "good" restaurants tend to be in the city. Yeah, very biased but experience has reinforced my way of thinking. Let's just say this place SURPASSED expectations! The food was delicious!!!! Portions HUGE, and service was on point. Place is clean and well put together, nothing fancy but def not a hole in the wall. I had the "enchiladas de mole" (chicken) n it was spot on! Even the refried beans had a wonderful flavor. So needless to say, I have a New Mexican restaurant to visit on times I don't want to deal with the chaos n traffic of going to the city. I ate like a glutton n enjoyed every minute of my impromptu visit to Azteca! My only complaint, they charge $1 if you request any additional sauce on the side. Had a nice time here for a Saturday quick bite. Service was very friendly and the food was delicious. My fiancé and I shared nachos which were huge and overflowing with cheese. He got three tacos (steak and 2 chicken) which he devoured and I got the vegetable burritos. And we enjoyed some classic margaritas and their red sangria. But let me tell you Azteca makes some amazing food and home made fresh hot sauce just like in socal!!!! I had a toca al carbon and it was amazing! the meat was juicy and rice tasty. Food was delicious and very fresh! I have passed this place over 100 times and never knew it was a restaurant. But, a friend recommended it and we decided to try it out. We walked in and someone came up to us and greeted us and told us to sit anywhere. The guacamole was phenomenal( my husband is from south America and vouches for that) our food was delicious. I've been coming here with my family since they opened twenty-two years ago, and we love it. It is our go-to Mexican place in Westchester County. Yes, it is a bit divey, but it's clean. The other customers are often the immigrant day-laborers that Kisco is known for, but that's great because they're nice people out enjoying themselves, just like you, looking for a place that makes them feel at home. The food is authentic, and the waitresses are so sweet. You can practice your Spanish on them; they will answer you in English, though. We once saw Martha Stewart and some friends eating here, and you wouldn't suspect it was her kind of place. The musica nortena on the juke box sets just the right atmosphere. Prices are decent, but seem to be climbing (a lot) every year. If you like "nice" hole-in-the-wall places that make you feel as if you could be in some back street in Mexico City, I recommend Azteca. My boyfriend and I went to Azteca for the first time (and maybe the last time) sometime last week. I am 100% MexiCAN and he is Caucasian. It took a long time for the waitress to take our order. It took her longer to deliver the one soda we ordered for my boyfriend. The food was spectacular from the chips and salsa to the main entrees. However, what was disappointing, was the lack of attention both waitresses gave us. They were more interested in their cell phones than in us. Believe me, our tip reflected it. read more

The food in Azteca is Amazing! I've been to this place many times and personally think they are the best Mexican restaurant in the area. Nothing on the menu ever disappointed...the only reason why I can't give this place 5 stars is because of the costumer service. The personnel (even though is friendly) seems to be distracted at all times and you basically have to get up and ask for things after they serve you (or wave until your arm falls out) because they rarely come back to your table.
