We've been coming to the Azul Tequila for about 4 years. We visit family in St Joseph and everytime we do we have to go to the Azul Tequila. I have never had a bad experience. The food is always good and the service is always great. Everytime we go we see people having fun and enjoying the phenomenal food. They have Video Displays where you can have your pictures posted with family and friends. They also have a Red Carpet Picture Backdrop where you can capture your long lasting fond memories. I plan to celebrate my birthday here with friends. They have a professional birthday club you can join. Twice I've ordered food for takeout and both times the employee at the cashier and the employee who brought my food out were not wearing masks. I found the Azul Tequila Mexican Bar & Grill back in the spring of 2014. I worked as an independent contractor and was looking for a good Mexican restaurant. I remember I ordered a Chicken Chimichanga. The reason I remember that is because it was the best Chimichanga I had ever tasted. For the next couple years, when I would go there, I wouldn't even look at the menu; I would just order the Chicken Chimichanga... I mean, if isn't broke don't fix it. I go to the Azul Tequila a few times a month. I've begun to order many different things on the menu. I especially like the Shrimp Chimichangas. I've never once had a bad meal in all the 5+ years I've been coming here. What amazes me is the friendliness and the speed of the wait staff. Also, once you get your chips and salsa, (incredible salsa), and start to eat them, within a minute or two your meal is there... It's always hot and it's always incredibly good. Recently, I've heard, from Carlos... they are introducing new family events, new Digital Coupons and new Promotions. They also have a new 'Professional Birthday Club' which you can quickly sign up for on the new Kiosk up front. You can bring your birthday party of 4 to 25 or more for an incredible birthday celebration. Schedule ahead of time to receive the 'VIP Birthday Club Treatment'. They have special lighting, music, signs, banners and more. They will give you a free birthday meal and a free birthday gift along with your special birthday celebrations. The Azul Tequila Mexican Bar & Grill is evolving into it's next new phase. All focused on creating an amazing customer experience for their guests. I keep ordering and trying new items on the menu. When I find one that does not deserve a 5 Star rating... I will post it here. Quite frankly when I see a one or two star rating for a place like this... I don't even pay attention to it. Considering I have 37 check ins and I think I am the "dutchess" I should probably review. It is a go to since my family lives nearby, as do I. It is nice atmosphere, endless chips and salsa and almost insane fast delivery of your food. Good for large groups of people and we have always had a good time there. Food? I love mexican food, and they are probably one of the best you can get in this area. I lived out west for many years so I say that with the caveat for that statement. This place is just another Taco Bell in disguise!! The food is not as good as it was when it first open. We ordered the chili colorado and the sauce was like bufflo sauce. When we ask for something else we were told to pay for the one being sent back. Restuarants like these dont understand that people do know the difference in taste. One of the good Mexican food options in downtown St Joe. They have great service and some classic options. Like most Mexican restaurants in the Midwest they tend to be more Americanized but having said that they do stay true to some good classics. I've tried the Fajitas, Chicken breast, and drinks. Overall everything is good and fresh. I have also ordered and highly recommend Cantarito which is a traditional Tequila cocktail and they are great. I hope they continue to add more traditional Mexican options to their menu, maybe offer quest fresco and homemade tortillas, maybe even menudo, birria, or Pozole would be awesome. the food is definitely americanized mexican food. portions are humongous, and they definitely LOVE cheese there because it's sprinkled generously on EVERYTHING. my favorite dish is the molcajete. comes in a sizzling bowl with every meat and veggie they have. yum! didn't care for their margaritas however. very sugary and really weak. read more

I cannot believe it took me so long to try Azul Tequila. My family has been driving past this restaurant for years and always talking about trying one day. I am so glad we finally did! The outside of the restaurant is very bright and lit up. It almost looks like its solely a bar. When I walked in, I was amazed at how big the restaurant was. There was a big fountain in the middle. It was very pretty! The overall decorations were really fun. There was seating all around the fountain. There was a bar around the corner from the main fountain seating area. They even have additional seating outside. When we came, we sat near the kitchen and bar area. The service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and checked on us frequently. The other wait staff were also very friendly when they walked by asking us how our meal is and if there were anything else they could get for us. Now for the best part, THE FOOD. It was wonderful. I had a bean burrito and a side of rice. It was delicious. The bean burrito was pretty big and I could hardly eat it all! The Mexican rice was great too. My favorite part of the meal was the guacamole. I had not had guacamole in a long time and I did into realize how much I was craving this! It was slightly spicy and it had some extra zest that was so tasty. There were lime margaritas on special. They were very strong. I considered watering my down (I have a very low tolerance). They were in these cute little glasses and were only $4.99 on special. Overall, this restaurant is great. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the Benton Harbor/St. Joe area. It is reasonably priced and I will DEFINITELY be returning the next time I travel to Michigan. read more

I will never go back to this place again. They charged $28 for shrimp quesadillas, even though every other quesadilla option on the menu, even those with meat, was $12-15. When we questioned the price, the server was unable to explain the outrageous charge and could not provide a logical explanation, as there was no price listed to add shrimp. We asked to speak with the manager, who never showed up. The server kept sending other servers to talk with us, and none of them could explain the pricing. Then as we were leaving, we confronted the manager who said that the issue was "our problem". She was incredibly rude and dismissive of our inquiry. On another note the food was average at best and the chips were flavorless. Some were even soft. Everything was also very greasy. Do yourself a flavor and avoid this place at all costs. read more

I went to Azul Tequila my favorite restaurant. It's under new management. I ordered T-bone steak and shrimp. Red flag...they never asked how I wanted it cooked. Then it was at my table in less than 5 minutes. When I uncovered my so called steak, it was not steak. It looked, tasted and smelled like pork steak. I asked for the manager. She insisted it was T-bone steak. I refused to eat it and had it sent back. The manager still wanted me to pay for the food even though it was sent back uneaten. Then she tried to argue with me that it was T-Bone steak. My husband worked for JBS meat factory. He said it was not T-bone. It was not even steak. There was a man in there that paid for my uneaten meal. He even apologized on their behalf. That was something they should have done. read more

Group of 7, locals who go here often, were treated with total disrespect and lied to 3 times. They sat groups behind us left and right, and told us "they had reservations". One of the members of our party went outside, and tried calling to make a reservation, and they were told "we don't take reservations". We then called the manager out for lying to us, and they tried to tell us they changed the rules 2 months ago. I know for a fact that in March (4 months ago) they didn't take reservations there either. They have now lost long time customers, who go out in a group for dinner almost weekly, and drop a pretty penny. I wanted to order a drink and the server say" I have to many tables so I can't get you drink", never heard a restaurant refuse to take a drink order because a server has to many tables that he has to attend to! The restaurant should limit the number Of people they let in so one server could attend certain amount of tables. Won't be going back to this place. I came in with my daughter for early dinner and was seated at the largest table by the bar; we were asked to move because a big party came in, which is fine, but we seemed to be forgotten at our new table.
