Seared Red Snapper with Baby Bok Choy, Shitake Mushrooms and Ginger Butter was also perfectly executed and delicious. The surprise of the evening were the Tahini Lime Roasted Brussels Sprouts - these were exceptionally good and included the sprout and the stalk. Food and service was a 5 star. We ate here for supper and a breakfast. The Sea-bass was phenomenal. It was fresh and perfectly flaky. The pairing with mashed potatoes and topping was unique but was an explosion of flavors in your mouth that paired perfectly together. My daughter had the steak Fritos without the sauce and it was delicious! Perfectly cooked medium. They had great wine and drink options. The dessert was also delicious! I had the crème brûlée with fresh fruit and the chocolate torte. We didn't leave a crumb behind. The breakfast consisted of pancakes and omelet. The omelet came with yummy seasoned potatoes. Coffee was unlimited and delicious! The service was amazing. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. Upscale dining experience. Azurea was a bit underwhelming and didn't live up to the expectations I had for a restaurant inside a hotel as nice as One Ocean. The service wasn't bad, but it wasn't incredibly busy and I found myself waiting for a while to ask for a drink after ordering our entrees. I had the steak and eggs. The steak was tender, but didn't have a whole lot of flavor and the eggs stuck together (and might have been from a mix but I don't know for sure). My husband had the chicken and waffles and was not very impressed by them. Overall, I don't mind that we went but I wouldn't return unless we were staying at the hotel again. Though honestly, even then, I'd probably rather check out one of the other restaurants in the area. read more

Came here for the location + look of the restaurant on my anniversary. It was relatively empty, so we expected a smooth dinner service. Our waitress was kind, but we had long wait times, which was confusing cause the place was nearly empty. We were excited to have an intimate, romantic dinner and had let the staff know it was our anniversary, but a family of 4 were seated next to us with screaming children who ended up being so loud, that it ruined the experience for us. We got the sea bass and grouper specials, and both were accompanied with underwhelming sides, such as the Yukon gold mousse that gave kind of a weird texture with the sea bass. We've toured most all of Jacksonville's fine dining experiences and as close as this is to the beach, we weren't impressed and probably will not be returning. Also we had two tequila shots (Casamigos Reposado), which came out to $50. I didn't pay that much for the same shots in NYC, so I was surprised it cost so much here, where the service definitely left us wanting. read more

Beautiful ocean bar and restaurant located in the one ocean hotel off Atlantic beach. When you walk in with its beach sea themed Decor you will be charmed. Went here for dessert and drinks after a fun day at the beach. When you walk in there is a rock formation decor with a modern twist. Vibe- relax and chill the modern decor and beach them was relaxing with cool lounge music. Even though it was busy it wasn't too loud. They even have outdoor seating with fireplace pits. And a boardwalk that leads out to the beach. We got the dragon berry mojito and the crème brûlée dessert. It was definitely perfection crème brûlée crisp on the outside and creamy inside. My sisters and cousins wanted to do a girls day out and decided to try Azurea's seasonal afternoon tea. The afternoon tea was priced $40 per person. Let me start off with place. The room was well decorated and have big windows that brings in the natural lighting. The ambiance is excellent that we were able to get a lot of conversation going since the atmosphere is not loud. The table setting was also pretty. As for the afternoon tea experience, we have a choice of glass of Prosecco or Champagne to start with. Then each of us got a choice of tea. We all had our own teapot which was so nice. The sandwiches came next. To end our afternoon tea, the server can out with our desserts. I would say the cookies were excellent. I appreciate how Jay was very helpful in suggestions, when I couldn't choose between which Flatbreads to pick or which Entrees to choose. His recommendations were perfect. Thank you! Pear & Prosciutto Flatbread, so yum! Love the different flavors of cheesy, salty and a hint of sweet, not too much, just enough so you don't confuse it as a dessert. I debated between the shrimp po boy and the steak frites. I know, two very different proteins. Haha but, both my faves. He sold me with the glaze sauce. Hahaha sounded delicious and he was right! So, I got the steak frites, cooked medium. Because I don't like it dry and I don't like it still mooing. It was perfect! Hats off to the chef! I could do the fries a little crispier (is that a word?), but that's just preference. All-in-all, a great meal. Will definitely be back to try some other dishes. We made reservations here for our anniversary. We sat outside to enjoy live music. Someone sat down at the table next to us, put their phone on speaker phone, and had a loud conversation through almost our entire meal. We weren't able to enjoy the live music and could hardly hear each other at some points because of her conversation. Staff continued to walk by and ignore this behavior. This place is really good and glad I dressed up. I got steak frites, medium rare but they made it on a rare side more than medium rare. Especially in the middle pieces of the steak. I was barely able to chew it. When I asked to cook a bit more and the server gave me a look and felt like he judged me. We had a nice visit for my husband's 40th birthday dinner to this establishment. Brian was our server and he was great! We started with a strawberry daiquiri which my husband just thought was OK he didn't even finish it. We had a crabcake as an appetizer. It was pretty tasty and filling. If you're not that hungry it could work as an entrée between the bacon and the crabcake and the collard greens as well as the corn. It's a pretty nice option. For our entrées we had the butternut squash soup which I didn't love so that ended up coming off our bill and my husband had the burger which was OK as well. We had a pretty big lunch several hours before so we were pretty full, not to mention I was experiencing full-blown pregnancy contractions which kind of put an interesting spin on the night. They even left a sweet card with all the team members signatures on it so that was super special. They provided a complementary birthday dessert and my husband opted for the cheesecake which he thought was OK as well. Based on the service and ambiance alone I wouldn't mind giving this place another chance. It's definitely fine dining and the prices reflect such. I actually allowed us to dine out to celebrate our anniversary. I sure do miss the ambiance of being in a restaurant. When I made our reservations, they noted that I requested outdoor dining instead of inside. We arrived a little early but we're promptly seated at a table outside. The sand dunes block the ocean view, but you can hear the waves crashing and there was a wonderful breeze. We started with a spiced apple mule off their seasonal drink menu. It had a nice flavor and wasn't overly sweet. Regular bread and butter was delivered. I don't know if they've stopped the more elaborate bread basket, but what was served was boring but still freshly baked and good. I chose the salmon and hubby got the ribeye. The salmon was cooked beautifully. Crispy top, moist and flakey. It was served over a corn hominy with lump crab, some small greens and a few tomatoes. It was really tasty, well seasoned, and they did not skimp on the lump crab. A few crab pieces were so big, they almost looked like small potato chunks. The ribeye was served with a corn purée and a mushroom bread pudding. The steak was cooked correctly and topped with a red wine reduction that was pretty good. I'm not a mushroom fan but he loved the bread pudding. We were stuffed so we ordered dessert to go. The kitchen apparently makes a small portion of creme brûlée in disposable ramekins so we were actually able to take it home. And our waitress brought us a surprise flourless chocolate cake to go for our anniversary. I didn't taste the chocolate cake because that was immediately consumer bu the teenager who proclaimed it was yummy. The creme brûlée was also fabulous. Thick and creamy with little specks of vanilla bean and topped with some berries. I am a total chocoholic but can never resist a proper creme brûlée and am so glad we were able to enjoy it later at home. read more

Great fine dining at the beach! The service is always A1. Their appetizers are phenomenal and I like the variety they offer of them. The steak Frites is my favorite. I got the short rib last night during my visit though and it was good, but I was craving more flavor from it. If I had more of the sauce/juices to dip the meat in it May have been better. Their Cesar salad is incredible and a good portion. I love the way they present it as well with the crouton ring. Just steps from the beach, this is a great place to get brunch and take a stroll by the ocean afterwards. We started with some Avocado Toast. It's thick artisan toast topped with sliced avocado, tiny heirloom tomatoes, herbed ricotta cheese, and a Saba reduction. The tomatoes were almost as sweet as grapes. So delicious! Mah wife decided on a lobster roll with lemon aioli, sliced tomatoes, and arugula with a side of shoestring fries. I went with the sweet side of brunch with the Banana Bread French Toast with Chai brown sugar glaze, chantilly cream, and real Vermont maple syrup. My sweet tooth can take on almost superhuman level of sweetness, and this French Toast gave me all I could handle. It's delicious, but not for the faint of heart. read more

We came for breakfast and sat outside on the outdoor patio. You can hear the ocean and see the pretty sand dunes. They have the tables spaced out pretty nicely so you feel safe during the pandemic. Prices are a bit high which was expected based on the location within the One Ocean. The food was delicious. My husband had a Bloody Mary per the recommendation of our server. It had a ton of horseradish in it and it was really not good. I had a Mimosa and it was pretty standard. Overall we had a good experience. I thought I signed up for high tea. I searched for "best high tea" in Jacksonville and this popped up as #1. I could have sworn I read somewhere that this place was having high tea for mother's day but I was evidently mistaken. Unfortunately (and to my embarrassment), I told my lady family members that my daughter and I were going to a high tea and if they wanted to join to reserve their spot lol. So we all showed up with our tea hats/applicators, me and my daughter with our dainty gloves, expecting a spectacular high tea experience. The decor is very beautiful and ocean themed. Plenty of beautiful photo opportunities (unfortunately my phone failed to charge so it died before we arrived). The table set is simple yet elegant with a yellow table cloth, little gold vase and single flower with foliage. Fork on left, knife on right, folded blue lap cloth in the middle, and water glass at the top. As no one was at the desk when we arrived, my daughter and I walked in a bit lost and asked fellow guests how to check in. We were informed to check in at the desk. We didn't wait long before a lady and gentleman appeared at the desk to check us in. They took our name and sat us right away even though we were about 20 minutes late. I explained that I should have asked about the parking situation because we had been looking for parking for 15-20 minutes. I thought I would just pull up to the spot, park, and head inside. On the contrary, traffic was crazy and scary, parking was abysmal. I ended up parking in a lot next door for$20. The hostess informed that parking is by valet there. Definitely would have gone that route had I known. Luckily my aunt and cousin knew that so they were taken care of. Turner was our server and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. He explained that the high tea is normally held in the winter and is a popular event. I hope my daughter and I will be able to make it. My daughter ordered the Fish Tacos. I ordered the lobster roll. We both preferred the lobster roll. I was pleasantly surprised with how much lobster was in it. Turner explained it's all from a lobster claw. The side salad was also good. We had the key lime cheesecake for dessert and that was delicious. Even though it wasn't what we were expecting, it was a pleasant experience. read more

Wow! I don't usually post on restaurant experiences, but this week my wife, daughter and I had a spectacular dinner at Azurea Restaurant in the Ocean One Resort in Atlantic Beach. The service was wonderfully initiated by Joe the restaurant manager who welcomed, seated and regularly checked to see how we were enjoying our meal. (It was my daughter's 30th birthday which I had mentioned when making the reservation.) Brian, our waiter, was very professional but friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and super accommodating. He was attentive yet not intrusive, everything you want in a server. We started with an amazing sampler of appetizers selected for us and delivered to the table by Chef Prateek. He is a genius with flavors, textures and visual appeal. First, there was a fried goat cheese ball with a raspberry jam center and a bourbon sauce drizzle. The combination of crispy crust and warm smooth cheese with the sweetness of the jam and hint of bourbon was terrific. Next, a seared Ahi Tuna slice on a nest of crisp potato with a taste of beluga caviar on top added a savory yet subtle element that allowed the tuna to shine. Then there was a light brioche with duck breast prosciutto, diced cherry tomato and a lovely citrus finish. It was light and refreshing with just the right crunch to it. Finally, their signature avocado toast which combined fresh sliced avocado over grilled ciabatta, ricotta cheese and heirloom tomato with GYO greens and a saba reduction. Creamy smooth with a crunch. What a start!! For our mains I chose the Crispy Atlantic Salmon over beluga lentils and white balsamic parmesan Brussels sprouts, fennel greens and smoked bacon reduction. It was done to perfection with a crispy top. My wife had the 12 Hour Braised Short Rib with truffle sunchoke onion soubise, fricassee wild mushroom and pan roasted thumbelina carrots and tobacco onions. The short rib was so tender and the combination of flavors delicious. (I had to taste it, of course.) My daughter went with the Local Catch Trio which that night was Kingklip, an amazing tender white fish with the texture of grouper, but sweeter. As the name suggests, it was prepared three ways and presented over a mousseline of Yukon Gold potato. The three preparations were bronzed beurre blanc, corriander dusted with a fruit salsa and beignet battered with a tomato remoulade. Each had its own yet consistently delicious flavor profile. (I loved that dish too!) A celebratory dinner would not be complete without desert and Chef did not disappoint: my daughter and I had the Flourless Chocolate Torte and my wife had the Caramel Cheesecake, both served with a decorative and tasty dark chocolate "basket" with a generous dollop of Chantilly cream. I can't say enough about the quality and friendliness of the service staff, right down to Luter who valeted our car. Kudos for a wonderfully memorable dining experience. We will be back! read more

I have eaten at Azurea a few times. I went with a friend for afternoon tea. Apparently they do it from thanksgiving to Christmas every year. Seems to be grossly unadvertised. I absolutely love afternoon tea. If I get a chance to go to a high tea I always take it. First of all the location is always beautiful. I think the tea could be a posher experience for the price. There were several folks in our group and we each got a glass of Prosecco and a pot of tea. They brought out some pretty unique finger sandwiches. There were 4 varieties but it was kind of a bummer that we only got one each, Additionally, they brought out a tray of desserts but they were kind of uninspired. Little cupcakes, some scones and cream. Also, only one each of those. I was hoping from something a little more elevated. For the price they certainly could have been a little more generous with the servings. Would I go back, yes. Was it amazing, not quite. read more

Had Thanksgiving "brunch" here today 2022 with friends. The food was excellent! I started with a Bloody Mary cocktail that was a fantastic "starter", and then the pumpkin risotto. My friends had a traditional Thanksgiving turkey dinner and another had Eggs Benedict. Both were incredible! The ambiance is very nice, and the service was excellent. Beautiful restaurant. We went at 7:30pm on a Friday (with a reservation) but the place was surprisingly not packed at all. Service was great and our waiter was kind and even gave us the chocolate torte on the house because they were out of the crème brûlée. Everything was great. The only downside was the parking situation. There's no complimentary parking or even parking specifically for the restaurant. Valet parking was $25 so you're kind of on your own to find a spot if you don't want to spend that. Overall really great if you're looking for a nice restaurant with a nice ambiance. read more

Absolutely flawless meal from start to finish. We arrived for a Friday night dinner here. The whole ambiance is great. The decor of the restaurant really reflects the location right on the beach and it's beautifully tasteful without being pretentious. Very impressive hallway entrance that looks like an aquarium. We started the night with a Black Widow and Dragonfruit Mojito cocktail. The Black Widow was very interesting with tequila, cilantro and jalapeño but not overly spicy. The Mojito was sweet and refreshing. Our amuse bouche was a bit of tiny tart of chocolate and foie gras, very delicious. Then we moved onto the bread basket. Three types of bread and amazing spreads of hummus, oil, some type of cream cheese and butter. The bread was warm and fluffy and comforting. After that we split the octopus appetizer. The octopus was perfectly cooked, not chewy and nicely charred. I had the duck and it was an excellent duo of breast and sausage, along with some brussel sprouts and bacon. The breast was probably the best duck I have ever had. My dad got the Mahi which was perfectly done. The accompaniment of the day was a squash flan and it was also delicious and smooth. We finished off the meal with a delicious creme brulee and their complimentary truffles. Our meal ended up being $150 with tip and I think it was well worth the cost. From start to finish everything was perfectly made with great flavors. And the setting and service are really the cherry on top. Azurea is a nice restaurant and bar tucked in in the back corner of One Ocean. When you enter the hotel, veer right and keep walking. You'll know you've reached it when you see a very cool blue tunnel (see photo!). I took my mother in law here for a drink back in December before Christmas. Despite it being December, it was a beautiful day and we were able to take advantage of their outdoor patio. They have comfy sofas galore! The ambiance is excellent- there's nothing more peaceful than ocean and sand dune views with the sound of the breaking waves in the background. I tried their endless summer cocktail while my MIL had a beer. The cocktail was one of the best I'd had in a while! I highly recommend it. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. The only downside is their pricing. You can expect to pay big city prices ($15+ for cocktails) because of their location. Either way, I am looking forward to returning when we have out of town guests visit again! read more

Great place for a special occasion. We ate in this hotel the night we were engaged but back then it was the Sea Turtle Inn. Tonight our anniversary dinner was exceptional. We made reservations via OpenTable - listed anniversary as the occasion - and were greeted with a Happy Anniversary card signed by all the staff. Nice touch. Classy dining room and very welcoming bar area. There is also a patio which is right on the beach but Jacksonville in June is not the time for that while in dress clothes. I ordered an Il Pero which was a pear infused vodka martini with shaved parmesan - smooth and strong at the same time and not too sweet. We were provided with a pallete-wakening amuse bouche smoked salmon wrapped in some type of tortilla - but I'm sure it was much more complicated than that. Before dinner a basket with an assortment of breads and 4 different spreads was served - softened herb butter, an asparagus spinach spread, oil and balsamic, and a peach mint concoction. All complimented each other very well - great combinations all around. I opted for the braised Berkshire pork belly appetizer vs. a salad. Healthy portion perfectly cooked and served over Cauliflower-Manchego Mashed, Charred Young Sweet Corn Hash, Brown Butter Granny Smith Apple-Relish, Gyo Greens Aquaponic Micro Greens, and Aged Balsamic - fancy to say the least. For my entree I was torn between a sampler of the catch of the day - hogfish served 3 ways - grilled, bronzed, and beignet battered; grilled Branzino; or the Squid Ink Risotto. Justin our waiter informed me that the squid ink meal was seasonal and was about to change and since he highly recommended it, I was in. Squid ink risotto included a De-Shelled Maine Lobster, Key West Pink Shrimp, P.E.I. Mussels, Lobster-San Marzano Tomato Nage, and Citrus Herb Breadcrumbs. This was a substantial meal and incredible all the way around. Buttery lobster, jumbo shrimp, and probably 10 mussels. Totally worth the $38 and the risotto was perfectly prepared. As you can imagine, no room for dessert but we were actually served complimentary amuse bouche sized homemade chocolates. White chocolate, a raspberry truffle, and an intense salted caramel. We happened to eat them in that sequence and glad we did. The caramel would have overpowered everything else had we started with that but I'm sure we would have powered through it. Took my mom to go here for dinner and it way outdid itself. Was a little concerned because I heard that it was overpriced but it is well worth the money. Everything we had was out of this world and so fresh. The wait staff was incredible. We had two bottles of wine and the sommelier came over to tell us the differences in the two Chardonnays that we tried. It was a very fun experience! Once again, I shared a bunch of dishes with my party so we could try more things on the menu. We got grilled octopus which was very fresh and not tough at all! We also had two of their salads. The salads weren't huge but perfect for a little taste of fresh veggies before our meal. The crabcakes weren't your average crab cakes, but they were delicious as expected. They weren't patties more of a big lump of crab and it was a great portion size. We then had lobster and shrimp cocktail. This wasn't too big, but was plated beautifully. My girlfriend told me she was taking me out for a special evening and surprised me with a dinner at Azurea! Chic, hip, cool, and sophisticated describe this restaurant perfectly. We sat in the dining room, which is encased with large windows surrounding the dining area looking out to the beach. Gorgeous. The noise and lightning was low and intimate, the booth was comfy and inviting, and their wonderful staff worked so well together to take such excellent care of us! Thank you all! Afterwards we kicked off our shoes and headed down to the beach where we listened to the soothing sound of the crashing waves as the sun faded away beyond the horizon. Bliss.
