So this place surprised me more than I could ever have thought. As the former home of 60 Main(a counter culture coffee shop and community space) it had really big shoes to fill. I'll never forget the first time that I sat down in here. I looked around, and it felt utterly void of the spirit that 60 main once generated. It's not that there is a problem with the ambiance, it's actually quite charming with record covers decorating the colorful walls, it's just that I knew what came before it. That was my problem, allowing past perceptions to color my present experience. So I ordered food, and went about letting go those chains that bound me to the past. So how was the food? Out of this world! One of my favorites is the B-side burger which is their version of an egg-head - a burger with a fried egg on it. They add a secret sauce and bacon which perfectly accompanies the burgers. Burgers with a s because they use two patties. These are thin patties, but this in no way compromises the quality of the meat as it is excellent! The fries are fried to perfection. The milkshakes delish! Yeah, this is the type of perfect little diner/eatery that one would imagine if one was set with the task of imagining a perfect little eatery. Oh and the waitresses are really cute too! read more

Great diner style food. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner won't disappoint. For breakfast I recommend an omelette and for lunch and dinner you can't go wrong with one of their great burgers or sandwiches. Pricing is good and won't break the bank. Service is alwaysgreat and the servers are attentive. This place has always had good food and I love how their walls are covered with albums. I have had many different meals including their 25$ Big L meal which is more like a feast. This comes with 2 massive burgers union rings milkshake fries. I was unable to finish but I sure as hell tried. If you finish this meal within a specific time frame the whole thing is free and you get a cool T shirt. At the time when I tried this no one had ever been able to complete the challenge. This was a 10/10 meal. I've also tried this massive burger creation with two grilled cheese surrounding it. I believe this was called the Burger of destiny. That thing was a tasty burger. In addition I have tried many of the all day breakfast items all of which were exceptional. My favorite thing off the breakfast menu is quite certainly the eggs Benedict. It's great and I would recommenced it to anyone who likes that kind of stuff. I would give them a 5 star rating but I have had some minor issues with the staff. I walked in and ordered something late at night which is normal for New Paltz as it is a college town. After waiting for nearly a half hour in the store my food never came. They started closing up the shop. At this point I realized they had lost my order somehow. After explaining to them that I paid for the food and had been waiting literally in the front of the store besides for going outside a couple times. The employee said they would make my Reuben and somewhat apologized. After the staff explained to the chef that he needed to make one last order I could hear him cursing up and down the kitchen. I don't know about you but I try not to eat food from someone who makes a meal in distress. Regardless of the matter almost an hour later of my precious time I received The food. Of course I ended up eating it and I gotta say it wasn't that appetizing. I understand some places/people can't always be perfect but that is what differentiates the pros from the Norm. so i always want to go to main street bistro when my husband and i take our kids out on sundays and lo and behold- we never get out of the house early enough to beat the swarms of people that wait outside there for a table in any and all weather- so we always end up at b-side. same thing every time- i get so disappointed walking away from main street bistro, end up at b side- and i'm always sooooooo happy we wound up there. the food is great, prices are good, service can be a little slow but we're never in a rush so it doesn't bother us. skip the line at MSB, and give this super solid place a shot, i don't think you'll be disappointed read more

Food quality is hit or miss, but that's okay since they are still new in my opinion. The breakfast bruschetta is ALWAYS delicious (bruschetta topped with scrambled egg, mozzarella, basil, diced tomato, and balsamic), but a little hard to eat. My favorite dish. Got the Tommy Avocado egg sandwich once, but the avocado was rock hard and there was a hair in it. :( My waitress tried to cover by saying that she hadn't seen a good avocado in town for a while. But that wasn't true because my partner had the avocado sandwich the day before and it was fine...They also didn't apologize at all for the hair in my sandwich, which was disappointing. Despite that one very bad time, I still go to B-Side often because the breakfast options (i.e. egg&cheese on a roll, omelettes, pancakes) are always solid. An overall good place for me to get a full plate of food for around $5. read more

Overall I like this place; I've been here several times and usually love the food. The atmosphere's a little odd to me since it kind of gives off a 50's vibe but a little too cheap to actually come across that way. The waitresses are getting better but especially a few months ago would come over every couple minutes just to ask "Is everything okay over here?" It was a little much but I think it's calmed down a bit since then. I like coming here especially on the weekends when Main St Bistro is too crowded. A good spot for breakfast or lunch. They serve breakfast all day and their menu covers eggs to burgers. I went with the special roast beef dip. Roast beef on a garlic hero with melted swiss cheese, sautéed onions with au jus dipping sauce on the side. $11 tasted more of a philly cheesesteak, it was good, but had too much cheese. The au jus dipping broth was very good though. Food took awhile to come out. My table of 3 just ordered sandwiches. I would come back to try a burger or another sandwich. Food was good, rating is only for the waiting staff. First, they told us that the table would be available in 15-20mn, and it ended up being a 45mn wait. Given how small the place is, it is not acceptable. After finally being seated, we've had to call several times to order, the waitress then managed to forget the drinks and never offered to refill the water. When it's time to leave, you have to stand and wait some more at the cash register until you can pay. Please remind me why we are supposed to tip? read more

Everything i have gotten from B-side has been delicious! My husband has been getting a burger from here almost 3x a week he likes it so much. The Graceland Burger is my favorite! The service has been great! A few people from the staff checked on us, not even just our waitress which was nice. Everybody is friendly and the facility is clean and welcoming. My daughter and I ate here yesterday evening.I got the meat lover's benedict, it was out of this world. My daughter got the triple decker turkey club, she was enjoying it but half way through she found a hair in her sandwich. Hey, not a big deal , this sometimes happens. We told the waitress and she apologized, said she would tell the chef , and I guess thats where it ended because when she brought the bill, there was no adjustment of any kind on it. I figured they would at least comp one of the beverages or something and upon paying I told the waitress this , again she apologized and that was it. I came here twice in one week and both times were a disappointment. The waitress is really nice and accommodating but the food is nasty. I got the Philly cheese stake and regretted it after the first bite. The bread was stale and dry. The cheese sauce tasted fake like worse then McDonald's cheese. I ended up taking the bread off and eating just the inside. I was very pissed off. The second time I got a banana spilt. It was actually delicious. Probably because the nice waitress made it instead of the cook. I ordered a tex mex hot dog and once again was overcome with dismay at first bite. Soggy bacon, fake cheese, and the chipotle= mayo with orange food coloring. Chipotle is one of my favorite sauces. The meat was too salty and had a disturbing texture. Just ate here and I had a good experience. I asked the waitress to surprise me with the menu and she selected the pancake taco. The pancake taco was good I liked the idea of thinking outside the box. Fun and funky decorations with records and their quirky music themed menu. The food here is pretty decent, some of the things I've gotten are a little greasy, but breakfast foods are allowed to be a bit greasy. Don't get me wrong, i LOVE B-Side and the wait staff is great. But i think that they aren't able to effectively manage having such a wide range of menu items because some things are really tasty and well made, while others are just not well done. Breakfast quesadilla is soggy and wet, maybe from the onions and pepper and our banana french toast was really good, aside from them being drenched in what seemed to be an entire bottle of syrup. The milkshake was not well blended either, pretty chunky, not smooth. Love the vibe and will continue coming here of course, just think they have so much potential and should really improve the quality of some of their meals. read more

For a restaurant menu with fairly basic food options, I expected a simple, but delicious meal. However, The B-side chicken sandwich I ordered was extremely disappointing. The grilled chicken barely covered half of the kaiser roll, and was abnormally thick and chewy. It also came with a side of french fries that were mediocre and served at room temperature. Went here yesterday because the Bistro was packed. The decor is hip and comfortable. I like that you can get breakfast all day. I had an egg sandwich with avocado, my husband had a breakfast burrito. Both were pretty good, but pretty basic. The coffee was diner coffee, but fresh. This place has a lot of potential. We need another cafe downtown. I just hope it gets better and better. read more

Disclaimer: when I ate here, it was a Sunday morning and the restaurant seemed pretty under-staffed. So not all of these issues will be the fault of any individual employee. Don't expect too much here. We were sat quickly after a table was cleaned off for us and our waitress (number 1) brought waters. I ordered a coffee that was brought soon after and our order was taken. Then we waited. I drank my coffee and we waited. Then waited more. After 45 minutes, an empty coffee mug, and seeing every table sat after us receive their food, we had to flag down a waitress that wasn't ours (ours seemed to be avoiding us) to ask about the status of our food. When she finally returned, waitress number 2 said our food would be the next next order out, after a large party sat well after us. Finally, our food came (thanks waitress number 3) and it was lackluster. It was diner food that you'd expect to wait 7 minutes for, not 45. After eating the whole meal without being checked on again, and an empty coffee mug, we walked to the register and asked for our bill because we assumed we had been forgotten about again.
