Pretty decent food here. I got a BBQ Banh Mi, Saigon Chicken soup side and a Lychee smoothie with tapioca balls. The sandwich is the best here. The pork tastes quite good with an authentic taste along with this BBQ Sriracha sort of sauce they give you. I wish it were a lot hotter because the meat was more on the warm side. However I believe the variety of veggies they put could be the reason. The soup is nothing too special. I wouldn't get it again. It tastes something resembling an american chicken noodle soup but with Vietnamese noodles. They also give you a small bean sprout salad in a bag with lime. Not my cup of tea as it tastes weird but I'm not quite sure if that's how bean sprouts taste raw; I've eaten it cooked. The Lychee smoothie is pretty good. I would rather go to Kung Fu Tea for a good drink across the street. The staff here are attentive and friendly so I liked it. I would come back solely for the sandwich and some of their macaroons. read more

i make it a point not to come into this place when i'm getting sandwiches cuz the staff seems a lil on the rude side, and the sandwiches are more expensive than ones you get in other restaurants... i wouldn't mind paying more when i buy a dozen at a time, but not if the sandwich doesn't taste any better... we once got a whole bunch of sandwiches here and some of us were sick after that... never again thanks. read more

Tons of options for banh mi sandwiches, but maybe that's a problem? We ordered a lemongrass chicken and pork and somehow ended up with a sandwich that had slices of sausage on it. Love this place! It's cheap (3.50 for most of the banh mi) and it's good. The viet iced coffee is also delicious. I usually stop here on the weekends for an early lunch on the go. They have a large variety of banh mi and specialty drinks and the service is extremely fast. read more

Worst avocado smoothies. Has no avocado taste, overly watery, too sweet. I called to ask if they accidently gave me the wrong flavor and he said it's the right one but the avocados wasn't ripe. Wish he had mentioned that so I can order a different kind. read more

At first I really liked Ba Le. I championed them. Then it seemed like they fell off a bit. The bread seemed a bit older and not much in between. Last time I ordered a salad and was then given a sandwich. I asked if they could make the salad, but they replied "we don't make salads until later." I ate the sandwich. It was decent. The sandwiches have great flavors, and a signature zing (not to be confused with the Whip's zip). They aren't trying to reinvent the sandwich, but they do make a unique offering. Banh mi is pretty good with the baget toasted. I grew up eating banh mi and it typically wasn't served/eaten that way, but don't get me wrong, it's still good! Just not my favorite. The store front has some good packed foods and there's also not much seating available, just a FYI if you're thinking of eating here. read more

Fabulous sandwiches, wonderfully tasty & fresh & cheap too. I always stop in to pick up a sandwich, but I also love to pick up one or two other items they have in the hot or cold cases - there's a wonderful assortment of rolls & salads that store well for a day or two & provide a light lunch instead of my more regular boring rotation. I'm particularly fond of the lemongrass pork sandwich (which is filled with a grilled, lightly spiced pork sausage) & the fried pork egg rolls (packed with pork, carrots & I think bean thread noodles?), but I've never found anything I didn't enjoy on the menu. I just wish that Ba Le had a branch in the loop so I could grab one of these more regularly - having to hike up to Argyle limits how often I can enjoy this great bakery. read more

i have never NOT had a delicious sandwich here, and between my husband and me we've tried almost everything on the menu. the pickled veggies on each sandwich may be my favorite part ... besides the bread, of course. an illustrative anecdote: i have now gone in there TWICE to pick up a weekend lunch for the two of us and come out with not two or three but SIX sandwiches due to their buy-5-get-1-free deal. don't worry, we save the extra sandwiches to eat later (and they stay reasonably tasty in the fridge for a day or so) ... but it takes some self-control. read more

I am really sad that I didn't like this place. I had seen the many good reviews on yelp and on Check Please and wanted to try it for some time. Being a vegetarian I was thrilled they had a few versions of the ban mi sandwich to try. The menu was a bit confusing to navigate. The fun drinks in the cooler were not labeled as well as I would have liked i think you have to know what it was to try it. I had the vegetarian with tofu which tasted rubber-like and greasy the veggies on it were not that flavourful as all i could taste was cabbage. My sandwich was 3.50 and my iced coffee (the best thing I tried there) was also 3.50 (rip off with all the ice), then we had to wait for a table because they just have a few. I cannot even comment on the food. I heard rave reviews and went to finally try it out last night and it was a bust. The door way smelled terrible we walked into the restaurant and it was just as bad, we walked to the line and ended up coming to the agreement that if we cannot stand the smell of the place how are we going to be able to eat here. The prices were also higher than what we were lead to believe. We did not stay and probably wont go back. Having traveled and eaten some wonderful bahn mi in my time-I would have to say that they have room for improvement. The bread is fresh and the condiments were good. The meat on the other hand was what ruined it for me. The chicken was dry, the BBQ pork was just "off" on the seasoning and the lemongrass pork seasoning didn't appeal to me. read more

This is the first time I've tried bahn mi sandwiches and I love them! I tried two different kinds, they are so flavorful and amazing, I need to go back and try them all. The pork pate was great, the cilantro, the peppers, everything about it was just fresh and tasty. They were so cheap too, my friend and I were shocked by the prices and how much food you get for what you pay. I'm sad I've been missing out on these sandwiches all my life. For the price, you won't find a cheaper, more delicious sandwich. The Pate Ham and BBQ Pork banh mi are both fantastic. The egg rolls (buy 5, get one free, just like the sandwiches), spring rolls, and macarons are also very good. You can basically have a 3 course dinner for about $10 here. I will say that occasionally it's frustrating when you run out of my favorite sandwiches on a weekend afternoon, but hey, that means business is good and for that I am glad. Sorry but they have mexicans in the back making the sandwiches. I find it so offended that a so-called vietnamese banh mi shop doesn't have vietnamese people making the food. This limits the quality of the food. My point is: if you are paying for vietnamese food, its better done by vietnamese people who grew up with vietnamese food. I tried the Chinese pork one and the Ba Le special which were both delicious!!! that i went two days in a row just for their bahn mi sandwiches!! i like the layout of the place! they also have a vegan menu and alot of deserts.
