We went for brunch. Everything was perfect: food, service, and ambiance. One of our favorite restaurants - always great.

Even here a few times since they opened and enjoyed it every time This is a much better middle eastern experience than most of what Spokane has to offer. The vegetable sides and salads are very large (at least as large as "main entrees" )and can be a main dish, or good for sharing. It is elevated cuisine but in a casual atmosphere. Service is friendly and attentive Fried beets --really nice balance of flavor here. They put honey on the beets, which might seem too extra because beets are sugar in themselves, but it brings out the earthiness of the beets. The plate also has pickled sweet peppers and a feta whip, and so all together this makes a great balance of flavors Roasted carrots --hearty portion with a labneh dip and preserved lemons There was not enough of the dip, imho, and we asked for more and they gladly gave us some no extra charge. Again, this was a great mix of flavors and textures. Oyster mushroom shashlick--the menu did not describe the sauce, which was a little spicy. (I'm sensitive to spice. Most would find this not spicy) Great tasting mushrooms that are skewered and grilled just like the meat versions at this restaurant. served with their smashed potatoes, which are crispy and seasoned. Chicken skewers --moist, with 8 bite-sized pieces. The potatoes are crispy and good. Overall, we liked all 4 items but I liked the beets the best! In the past we have had falafel and hummus, babaganoush, and beef/lamb dishes. They were all good. For dessert, we split a tea-flavored pot de creme. It was really yummy. read more

Okay, it's been a minute since I've been to Baba, but I've been meaning to leave this review for a while now. I actually picked up gift cards for the Eat Good Group at Costco because I wanted to bless a friend with a night out at Baba and honestly, it was such a good choice. I love this restaurant group in general. They also own places like The Eatery and Honey Eatery and Social Club (and a few others I'm probably forgetting), and what I appreciate is that each spot feels totally different while still having that same quality and care behind it. Baba has more of a Mediterranean-inspired vibe, and the food really reflects that. I'll be honest I don't even remember exactly what I ordered (it was one of those super busy weeks), but I do remember how good everything tasted... and I've got pictures to prove it. The atmosphere was great, service was kind, and overall it just had a really unique feel compared to other places. It's definitely its own vibe, in a good way. Even though I'm late on this review, it stuck with me enough to come back and write one which says a lot. Another amazing visit to Baba. I was in town with some coworkers for a work dinner. Our server was so helpful and made some great recommendations. We got the short ribs and dip platter. Portions were huge and easily fed all 3 of us. I loved being able to try all the dips and pickles. Got the coconut sorbet for dessert and it was the perfect end to a meal. Visiting Spokane & was recommended by Gonzaga parents to try Baba esp their happy hour. My daughter & I went on a Thursday at about 4:40pm. It took a few minutes for someone to greet us & the gentleman that finally did was a bit awkward & little to no energy. It just kind of felt like he was bothered to be there & had no urgency about anything. He took us to our seats & did give us information about the happy hour and asked if we had been in before. We sat there for quite a while and while we did a handful of other groups came in and waited again for a while to be greeted. It appeared to only be the gentleman & a girl working & there were several tables. After a while the gentleman came back & said he would be our server. He had been seating people & Bartending & I guess now was going to also be a server. We placed our order & a bit later our dips came out but then quite awhile after our skewer came out. The dips were delicious & a great price with the happy hour. The chicken was ok just not what we expected & prob wouldn't order again but it wasn't bad. The happy hour deal we heard about was awesome & the food was good however the weird service situation really put a damper on our experience. I am not sure if they were short staffed or what but it was just very weird & clearly they weren't staffed appropriately. The 2 workers were each doing several jobs but it just didn't seem like anyone had a clear job to do so seemed like a lot of things were getting missed or just not being done well if that makes sense. read more

I love the ambiance here. We came here during happy hour and tried a little bit of everything. The baba ghanoush, falafels, hummus, with pita and chicken skewers and smashed potatoes were super delicious and flavorful. They aren't your typical dishes. My second time here. I came a year ago with my husband for my birthday and unfortunately while the food was great, the server was so miserable. I'm back in town for a work trip and despite the last visit being somewhat soured by the server's bad mood, I really enjoyed the food and came back again. I'm glad to say that the service is better than last time. Not super friendly still, but at least my server checks in and doesn't act like serving isn't their job. Most importantly, the food is just as good. Since this trip is just me, I opted for a smaller meal. Their meals are meant to be shared and are quite large, so I got myself the Mac and cheese with braised lamb and the whipped feta. They also have a Dubai dessert I'd love to try, but that's just way too much food for me alone. I might try to come back another day during my trip just to try the dessert! Until then, the whipped feta appetizer I got is honestly almost dessert like itself with the honey and lemon giving it a tart freshness! read more

I can't. Not anymore. I can no longer go to a Mediterranean restaurant and be satisfied unless it's Baba. This has changed me. Gorgeous little place, could have used some candles on the tables, but clean, and fitting decor. Service was relaxed and on it as far as never letting you be without what you need. The food... layers of flavors that you'd not expect- even in a place like this. I've been to so many but nothing has left me staring at my mom across the table wondering if I should stomp my feet or walk to the back and thank the chef. Hit up during happy hour, the deviled eggs are amazing. Had to request without chili oil for my mom. The falafel/ wow. The WHIPPED FETA and pita. Come ON!- there are flavors that shouldn't be allowed and I'm so glad they are. Never had a soft pillowy fresh one before. The chicken kabob..the caramel.. the chili flakes.. I could drink that. Used the rest of my pita to sop it up. Beef lamb kabob was stunning- almost at the top of my personal heat limit. Had the chocolate pistachio torte.. so good. The spot: this is a really cool spot! Inside is open, the chairs are comfy, the decor was inviting and felt very fitting for the cuisine. Service: service was slow. We waited quite a bit to order our food and then for our drinks, and it just kind of continued with the rest of the meal. I am going to allow grace, because it was restaurant week and they were very busy! Our server ended up giving us the wrong dessert (it was still yummy), but he comped a drink for me. He was very apologetic, and it all worked out. The food: we loved it! The food had so much flavor and was so yummy! My husband started with the deviled eggs and I started with the potato latkes. Both were delicious! The eggs were totally unique and so good! The potatoes were perfectly crispy and the spicy tzatziki they are served with was perfect on them! For our entrees I got the Kofta Kabab and my husband got the Turkish Mac and Cheese. Again, both so good! The kabob was cooked perfectly, the flavor of the keeled rice they are served with was amazing. It was sweet, but also savory at the same time. My husband really enjoyed his mac and cheese as well. It was also unique and the cheese was so good. Lastly the dessert, while it wasn't what we ordered, it was still great. It had a wonderful flavor and texture. It was a great experience! Came here recently on a weekday with some coworkers who were in town and we sat outside on the patio. We ordered a variety of small plates and bites from the menu to share family style and I can't say there was one dish we didn't enjoy. Definitely get extra pita - you'll use it! Only less than positive comment was that we didn't love the bottle of Sauvignon Blanc we ordered - it was very sweet. I'd love to see Baba offer more Maryhill or other local KY/Spokane wines on the menu in the future. read more

This is a great Mediterranean Restaurant, located in a scenic area of Spokane Washington. I visited during happy hour and ordered several items from the happy hour menu and one for them from the regular menu; everything that I order was outstanding. The dishes had a very complex and bold flavors, and the service was outstanding. The happy hour menu was very affordable. I had found Baba through Yelp and visited on a Wednesday evening not realizing the Market event was also happening the same evening. Overall, I did enjoy the food. Ordered the Kawarma and King Oyster Mushroom Souvlaki. I don't know if the hummus used for the Kawarma is the same that is on the menu by itself or with the wild mushrooms. I would think it was as this would be the most efficient for the kitchen. On the menu, it does say that the hummus is silky smooth. What I received, while yummy, I would not describe as silky smooth. I have had the opportunity to travel to Israel where the hummus is amazing and the consistency they are able to achieve, I still have not found here. So not sure if that's a fair comparison or what they were aiming for. The spiced lamb was flavorful but a bit salty for me. I do wish it was in slightly smaller pieces so it would be easier to pick up with the pita without needing utensils. I loved the fresh pita that came with the hummus. Personal preference, would have loved it more if it was toasted a bit longer so there was some more chew to the pita. The King Oyster Mushroom Souvlaki was a super simple but super yummy tasting dish. I love just about anything mushroom so could not go wrong with this choice. I would have ordered, if it was an option on the menu, a side of pickled veggies but I did not see that. I think it would have helped break up the salt in the lamb. read more

The food was delicious and very fresh--the servings are ample, and everyone in my (picky) family loved what we got. The smashed potatoes were lovely, and the eggs were poached absolutely perfectly. Service was excellent and very prompt, without being hovering. Our waitress was friendly and sweet. The interior is also really nice, with large murals, and a modern-meets-vintage feel. Myself and 3 friends came for brunch on a Friday and were pleasantly surprised with this spot. The server was so helpful and patient with all of our questions. They gave us great drink recommendations. Even though one of our friends didn't enjoy the drink they got, the server had done a great job describing the flavors before hand. We got mushroom hummus, king mushroom Benedict and the salmon latke Benedict all to share amongst the table. The potatoes that came on the side were so crispy and well seasoned. My personal favorite was the mushroom Benedict. The flavors were so well balanced. It was very quiet in the restaurant when we visited. The server was also the bartender and food runner but they were amazing about communicating with us and making sure we got great service. Suggested to me by a friend who is familiar with the area, I recently came back for dinner and had an awesome experience! Located in the Kendall yards area, there is ample parking both on the street and just behind the restaurant, and the location serves as a really nice spot for a walk before or after dinner! I came on a Thursday night for dinner and there was no wait at all. Another thing I wanted to mention was the overall ambience, I love the dimly lit lighting and the overall comforting vibe the restaurant has. The food at Baba is wonderful, they have a lot of traditional mediterranean dishes, as well as some elevated fusion takes that I've never imagined before! I ordered the whipped feta with honey to start off, and had the Chicken Skewers and Turkish Mac and Cheese. All items were full of flavor and my personal favorite was the Mac and cheese. The pistachios on top added a crisp texture and a bit of sweetness that really elevated the dish. The food was ABSOLUTELY amazing and delicious. My friend and I didn't really talk for a solid 15 minutes because we were eating our food so seriously. Am personally a Shakshuka lover, and it was absolutely worth it. (The best part was definitely the naan bread!) The waitress and hostess were both so sweet and nice!
