Had a terrible experience there today. The service was so terrible. One person or in our party did not get her entrée. They brought it out about 20 minutes after the rest of us had been served, and it was the wrong order. No apology or offer to remake the food. Our server halfheartedly offered to comp the order that was wrong, but then put it on our bill anyway. We won't ever go back there. read more

There are many good restaurants in the Coachella Valley, this isn't one of them. Everything from the mediocre food, to the downright bad service but the things that stuck out the most was the rude old slender bartender and the way they chill their bottles of beer IN THE ICE BIN. The stake was soo tender! The lamb!!!!!! The sliders!! The mushrooms bites!!! Not big on the calmary but my boyfriend enjoyed them. Okay but highlight. Our group of three started off with cocktails. I had the Pisco sour, and the other two had a virgin mai tai and a vodka martini. Pisco sour was excellent and the person who had the mai tai said it is one of the best drinks they've had in a long time. For entrées, we had the sirloin saltado, the battered fish tacos, and the shrimp chaufa rice dish. There were two soft tacos with a coleslaw topping which I was told was excellent. The person who had the shrimp rice dish really loved it. I did have a spoonful of it and everything was cooked perfectly, and there were many items in the rice dish but it, to me, needed more of that flavor. My saltado was also very good and cooked perfectly. The beef was tender and not chewy at all. The flavor profile was really very good, but I wish it had more of it. The customer service was really excellent. read more

We are from out of town and came to Palm Desert to get away from L.A. for a bit. Saw there was Cuban food and live music! Babaloo's on Thursday evening was amazing. The staff were all very attentive. The drinks were on point. The Bartender came to take our personal requests. The waitress was personable and sweet and the music was very lively and fun (Woody & The Retros). Came here on my birthday weekend. Arrived for an early dinner (5pm) and were greeted and seated by Artie immediately. Super friendly people. Everything on the menu looked tasty so we asked for recommendations and we're not disappointed with the results! Just amazing service and food really made our day! I highly recommend Babaloo for anyone looking for a laid back atmosphere, great drinks and fabulous food! I've also gotta give a shout out to our live piano player too! Sounds great. Cuban, Mediterranean, bar, live music. Yes! Well... I didn't eat here because my Mom's been several times, and hates the food. Looking at the menu, it sounds wonderful, but is all over the map. It has Cuban, but not traditional. It has Mexican, burgers, sandwiches, steaks, chicken, seafood, "sushi", and fried bar foods among others. C'mon. It has a HUGE menu. WRONG. Cut it down, focus, specialize, keep fresh....it will then be delicious. So, we went for a drink and to hear some live music. Well... AWFUL setup / layout for a live band. The music is in a side room that has 3 tables and a small dance floor. C'mon. BaBaLoo took over the space from Elephant Bar. It remained vacant for years. It still has the same look and feel. Redesign it for God Sake. You get another, C'mon. But, the staff is lovely. The house cab was only $8, and it was a very generous pour (and really good!). So, it's not all bad. read more

I would give BaBaLoo a 0 STAR review. We had reservations for 7:30 on 2/14, V-Day. Overbooked and unorganized, so we waited at the bar where I order two drinks while we waited for our table and the drinks never came. Waited over 30/40 minutes, we were promised the next table, however, it was cleaned and set up for a party of six that came in a long time after we did. We ended up leaving disappointed, thirsty and hungry. The restaurant looked old, run down and just extremely unorganized and the hostess was absolutely the worst and a liar!!!! Want an amazing dining experience? Try Porto Villa or Eddie V, stay away from BaBaLoo Lounge. read more

Yelp gives this place 3 1/2 stars and I agree. We went for happy hour and the drinks are five dollars and our appetizers were delicious. The sauces and peanut butter pie still tasty.However, we also ordered three dinner items which were about $26 apiece. They were all bad. We had the chicken and rice, beef and rice And shrimp and rice. The sauces tasted like bottled teriyaki sauce, and the chicken and rice was completely tasteless. The peanut butter pie was good but the key lime pie had no flavor at all. We might come back for happy hour only. What a shame because this place used to be really good but the last two times it wasn't. read more
