Came here on a Wednesday night and didn't know what to expect. But food was delicious, I ordered Saltado with steak, and it was very flavorful. Service was quick, and ambience was cute. Cuban drums and decor, Peruvian food on the menu, and they had a guy playing live music.

For whatever reason, the front doors were locked at about 6 pm. We were about to walk away but peered inside & could see people eating. So we went around to the side entrance. Things were awkward at first. Restaurant was warm. They said they were having issues with their AC. Mojitos were good. Maduros & calamari were good. My Pollo Saltado was delicious & my husband enjoyed his with steak. We also tried the Havana Splash. It was okay. The mojito was a better choice. It was our first time here. The interior needs some attention & they definitely need to figure out what's going on with the AC before summer hits hard. I'd return again. Overall good experience. Oh...the lady on piano was excellent. And then a band started playing at 7 pm. They were good too.

This is the first time we have been here. It was a pleasant experience. It's nice they kept some of the old Elephant Bar items. Very nice decoration. Booths were comfortable. The salad and the dinner was excellent. We also shared a key lime pie. The service was attentive and nice. Nice restaurant in the desert.

Not our usual night out, but a friend was playing in the band. Fun place, with people dancing and singing and enjoying themselves. Not our thing, but if you want a fun night out, this is for you. What was perfect for us was the food. Beans, tostones, yucca...all the things that we had forgotten that we loved about Cuban food. The Lechon Asado was perfectly done. An unexpected five star night!

Beautiful restaurant, great food, and excellent service. And the live music had my young daughters dancing!

So we got a gift card from my brother-in-law and little sister and we finally had a chance to go out and try this restaurant now the first issue we had was the front door was locked for whatever reason, but we saw people eating inside so we went around to the patio area and entered the restaurant through there. We were greeted by the staff, which were friendly and directed to check in with the host after being seated, our waiter came over to offer drinks and was open about the AC issue they were having because it was a little warm inside the restaurant. We ordered the Manny's Mojito which was really good. We also ordered the plantains which were delicious & for the main course I ordered the Saltado with the steak which was really good and my wife had the chicken version of the dish, which was really tasty also!. we also had the calamari which was really good. The horse radish dip was really good, but careful not to dip and get too much of it because it will open up your nostrils for sure!. we skipped on dessert, but decided to order the Havana splash drink, which was good but overall we preferred the Manny's Mojito. Overall, the service was good & the ambience was nice.

It's a nice restaurant with an attached bar area that had a DJ and was very lively on a Friday night. We chose to dine in the restaurant portion, where the atmosphere was a little more conducive to dinner and the service was good. I had the Chicken Piccata ($38) and thought it was very good. It was flavorful, the serving size was fair, and I felt the price was reasonable for the quality and the restaurant. Others at our table had the Pacific Sole Piccata ($46), and there were several appetizers and salads available in the $19-$38 range. My one disappointment was the cocktail pricing. Many of the drinks start around $19 and can go all the way up to approximately $45. I had a martini that tasted fine, but it was surprisingly small for the price. At those prices, I expected a more generously sized cocktail. Other than the drinks being overpriced in my opinion, I enjoyed the experience. The food was good, the service was solid, and the lively bar and DJ give the place a fun energy if you're looking for more than just dinner. Overall, a solid four-star first visit. I enjoyed The Nest and would definitely return in the future.

We started with dinner and ended up staying for the music, dancing, and all the fun that makes The Nest such a special place. I ordered the chicken piccata and honestly, it was the best I've ever had. The service was wonderful, and even though we were seated near the piano in the bar area where it can get a little loud, that's part of what makes it such a fun atmosphere. The best part of the night was having everyone together. My niece's boyfriend was visiting from Ireland, and we laughed and danced all night. I especially loved seeing my sister-in-law out on the dance floor and having so much fun. It was one of those nights where people of all ages were dancing, laughing, and just enjoying being together. We had such a great time that they went back again the very next night. The live music was fantastic, and it was great seeing Nick on saxophone. The crowd was a fun mix, the energy was high, and the whole place just felt happy. A coworker recently went during Restaurant Week and couldn't stop talking about the steak, the generous portions, and the peanut butter pie. The Nest has been a desert favorite for years, and there's a reason. It's always nice to see Dodi there and how much pride she takes in the restaurant. Most people think of The Nest for the music and dancing, but don't miss the food. It really is that good! One tip: go early or make a dinner reservation so you don't end up waiting in line. The Nest is still one of the most fun places in the desert!

The entrance lead you down a hallway toward the hostess stand, with couches, a bar and a piano being played to the left. To the right , you enter the main dining room. The space felt open, elegant, and immediately welcoming. Talk about fine dining at its best. The hostess was able to quickly seat our party of six, and our server immediately brought over the menus and filled our water glasses. THE FOOD: We started with the oysters , and they did not disappoint. They were served with a shallot mignonette which was vinegary in all the right ways. They were so good, that we ended up ordering a second round. For dinner, we all ordered the steak with mushrooms and broccoli. The steak was perfectly cooked, and every bite was bursting with flavor. Even the mushrooms and broccoli stood out. Everything was seasoned beautifully without overpowering the actual flavors of the vegetables. Even the bread was so good. It was served with three different butters. And dessert? Also top notch. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful dinner with friends. THE SERVICE: The service really added to the experience. Our server was attentive and took great care of us. The GM, Ray, also stopped by our table, and we ended up chatting and joking with him a bit. He was incredibly friendly and personable and made sure we were having a great experience. Between the setting, the food, the genuinely attentive service, this as one of those dinners where it all felt elevated. Definitely one of the many highlights of our stay at La Quinta Resort.

Morgan's in the Desert: Disappointment After Disappointment. $400 for Meh…read more After living in La Quinta for four years, we were ready to try Morgan's, as it's one of the last foodie restaurants in the Coachella valley that we haven't tried. We arrived early for our reservation, excited to grab a drink at the bar before dinner. Then we were told our table was already available... only to be seated at a dining table in the bar, off to the side, where apparently servers do not exist while staring at the back of the pianist and the barflies. The two bartenders were fantastic--especially Brian, who was working at warp speed--but they already had a packed bar to manage. Adding dining tables to their workload was clearly not realistic. Why were we seated there? Still a mystery. Reservation problems: I booked through the QR code advertised in The Gem for the August prix fixe dinners at La Quinta Resort's restaurants. When we arrived, we were told the prix fixe menu wasn't available that day. Sorry! So we ordered bread and oysters instead. About 15-20 minutes later, the manager came over and said they would honor the prix fixe after all. Great! Except... we'd already ordered appetizers. ‍ And wow, was it SLOW. We were seated at 5:30 and still didn't have our entrées at 7:00. Drinks regularly sat empty, and once the restaurant got busy around 6:30, water refills disappeared completely. Did I mention it was 110 degrees outside? The food? A mixed bag--but overall, wildly overpriced and underwhelming. * Oysters: Ice-cold and served with a good mignonette. Also pricey. * Bread: Fresh and warm, but the olive tapenade was aggressively salty. Again, overpriced. * Watermelon salad: The winner! Refreshing, flavorful, and the spicy nuts gave it a nice kick. Highly recommend. * Chicken cacciatore: Dry chicken, undercooked tomatoes, overcooked pasta. Never again. * Oscar filet: Delicious and well-prepared, but nothing memorable or special--especially for the price. Bottom line: We spent about $400 for a frustrating, painfully slow, mostly mediocre meal. There are too many great restaurants in the area to spend that kind of money on "meh." We won't be back.
