Staff and manager were incredibly unprofessional. Our party was told 15-20 minute wait. At 20 minutes we politely asked if there was an estimated timeframe update as we had a 2 hour ride home. They then said 45 minutes or longer. We watched as at least 6 parties were seated prior to us?! The manager was extremely rude and seemed incredibly incompetent. Staff were complaining to one another about working there right in front of us. My recommendation is to steer clear! read more

Had herbs chicken pasta, okay. Need more red sauce to add the flavor. And the noodle was a bit over cooked, a bit mushy. The appetizer was the platter, good but not impressive. The potato skin was not as good as the ones I had in Texas Roadhouse. Vibe is cool. And decor is fun. read more

It's been a beautiful weekend but unfortunately I have to work through the weekend... finally have a chance to dinner, but the choices are some what limited on a Sunday evening here. Found this place which seems ok, ordered the French onion soup and shrimp riggies, the soup was not bad, the riggies has a light sauce which tasted like vodka sauce, although I was not planning to have anything spicy, it was a welcome surprise... if spicy is not your thing, be warned. The pasta was cooked just right! My waitress was very friendly and attentive, great service! Oh, if you like 80's-90's pop, this was it...at least while I was here. read more

We have been to Babe's many times over the years, and always returned. We understand everyone is doing his/her best, especially as we attempt adjust to life during a pandemic. However, I have never seen the service so slow. My meal had a side. Since 6 of us had to order, I neglected to specify my choice ( and was not asked). We waited a long time for our meals, but when they were delivered, my meal side was potatoes. I don't eat potatoes. At this time we ordered a sandwich to go. No one returned to the table (beyond 2 minutes after our meals were delivered) to check on drinks or for any other reason, so if you were thirsty, you were out of luck (as I was). When we finally received our bill the take-out order was not on it , nor was the sandwich brought to us. Another 10 minutes before all of that was resolved. Not the best experience. Ordered the bacon and blue salmon tonight and found a blonde hair in my dish 2 bites into the salmon. Informed the waitress to which the manager came out, with my plate to inform me that it was a "fish scale." My boyfriend is an avid salmon fisherman and there was no way this blonde hair, was a scale, nor a bone. I get it, hairs occasionally fall into food. No big deal, but to have the manager insist we were wrong, as well as the waitress on several occasions, it was extremely off-putting. Due to very poor customer service, i would never return or recommend. I've had hairs in my meals from time to time and have never been treated the way i was treated there tonight. read more

After a long ride through the Adirondack Mountains on Saturday / July 18, 2020, my wife and I headed to Babe's having been there one other time last year. During our previous meal it was SUPER and the food was great [last August 2019]. With the Covid going on, we decided to eat outside and ended up on a picnic table. The first table was covered with very tiny ants so we moved. There were plenty of ants, but we went with the flow... I ordered the NY Strip Steak @ $26.00 and my wife ordered the Chicken Riggies. Once the steak arrived it was obvious this was NOT a $26.00 cut of meat... It was tough, lots of grizzle and fat, but being the tough guy I am and tired, I cut small and ate what I could fast... This was a $10.00 steak in my opinion....UGH. My wife's chicken riggies was presented with overcooked noodles and the chicken was mush....as if it had been way over cooked and tossed int the dish just before serving.....simply few to pieces. We were both tired and looked at each other and called out....check please....the waitress was polite and asked if there was anything wrong and we both registered a complaint and she said, "sorry".....and took the plates away.... After a long weekend camping in the foothills of the Adirondack's, you and the boys decide to stop for a quick bite to eat in the unreal city of Utica. You all unanimously decide on Babe's because it looks like an off brand Tully's. Once you arrive there, the aroma of an average bar and grill fills your nostrils. You get more hungry by the second. After being seated by a very attractive hostess, you all decide on sharing two appetizers along with getting an entree for each oneself. The waitress was very nice and was quick to replace the almost empty waters with new ones. While on the pricy side, the food did live up to the expectations. Everything tasted great and the service was excellent. The cocktail selections were also very solid. The only complaint I have is that there were quite a few flies around everyone's food and the wouldn't leave our feet alone. If it wasn't for the flies, this would be an easy 5 star. Sat outside on a Sunday evening. 2 of us ordered at the same time, our 3rd ordered 10mins later. My appetizer and buffalo chicken salad came out at the same time, and at least 10-15 mins before the other two orders. So I sat there and waited, watching it die. Buffalo Chicken Salad- did not match the description on the menu. No celery or blue cheese crumbles. Just greens, tomato, buffalo chicken, and a hardboiled egg for some reason?? With blue cheese dressing. Pizza bites- just a small, flavorless pizza. The everything wings- not like any other everything wing in town. Too spicy and not "everything." Fried calamari- good size, nothing special. Mozzarella sticks- ...just mozzarella sticks Ribs and Fries- decent. Coleslaw- not that good It took multiple attempts asking different waitstaff to get silverware, napkins, salt and pepper delivered to us. Call me crazy but aren't these staple items at a table? Been there before. Gave them another shot with the new deal. We travel to Utica a LOT (2-3x month) for work but unfortunately probably won't be coming back. read more

Stopped here late night on our way home from MA, they squeezed us in right at the end of service without a single hesitation, and service was fast, friendly, and the food was great for the price. I had a chicken quesadilla that was exactly how I expected, if only a little bigger. My wife had the turkey spinach wrap (with ranch instead of dill), and said it was way better than she expected. Just under $45 total for 4 people, thought that may have included a daily special price. They told that the place had been recently updated, and at the time of writing this, the photos don't match the current decor or menu, so give these guys a chance! Very satisfied! read more

I went to this restaurant for a takeout order and was asked if I was headed home. I stated yes and they told me to warm up my side of bread when I got home. I stated no that's your job and 3 workers got upset and went to the back. This was very unprofessional and rude. The service does not match the prices!! The greeters at the door were very nice. The Waitress on the other hand wasn't very friendly. It took forever to be able to order our food and then it took even longer to get our food. It took over 40 minutes to get our food. There were breakfast items, these were unique but on the normal side, which we thought was good. Most the other food seemed to be mostly spicy.... Not sure if I'd recommend with kids. When we got the food, it was not at all what was ordered for one meal, two of the others tasted like chlorine, the appetizer was cold, and one meal was okay! BABE ALERT! Just recently had dinner here- the chicken alpine sandwich. While the atmosphere is nice, unfortunately this was maybe the worst chicken sandwich I've ever had at a very unreasonable price. Pretty standard for upstate ny dining. We came here at prime time on a Saturday night around 6pm. We were able to be seated immediately, but it was pretty packed. It took way too long to get our bread.. the table next to us got their bread shortly after we sat down and they got their main meals before we were even served bread. I was on a train for close to 5 hours and was STARVING so I was a bit hangry. I had their steak and shrimp riggies special. Asked for the steak rare and since the steak was uneven in size (fatter in the middle and thin on the edges) there was only a tiny bit that was rare and the rest for was medium rare. Wasn't the best steak I had and maybe I should've put on some A1 sauce, but I managed. The shrimp riggies were warm - would expect them to be hot if they just came out of the kitchen. Our waitress wasn't the one who brought the food out, so it's possible our food was sitting there a bit because she was dealing with other tables. A little disappointing all around, but the shrimp riggies were good, despite not being hot. I would probably go back and only have those next time. read more

I was in Utica with a coworker and we wanted to get something to eat before getting back on the Thruway. He spoke so highly of Babe's that we had to go there. OK, I'm willing to give it a try. In retrospect I should have immediately vetoed his recommendation and kicked him out of the car. It was an awful experience. There is nothing redeeming about this restaurant. The sauce is very poor, lacking in any enjoyable (or even observable) flavor. The pasta had the most bizarre texture to it. The chicken was dry, bland and overcooked. Everything about the food was disappointing. Our waitress, while incredibly friendly and pleasant, completely vanished and did not check up on how things were going or if we needed anything else (i.e., refills on drinks). So take note: If your friend says, "Hey, let's go to Babe's," veto it by kicking him out of the car and leaving him on the side of the road. This place really needs to take a serious look at the food they're preparing and the people they're hiring to do it. It's time to go back to the drawing board, Babe's. read more

Went to Babe's for lunch today with two other people - ordered water, salad with Italian dressing and chicken riggies which were the lunch special. salad - wilted and I couldn't figure out if the green round thing was zucchini or a cucumber asked one waitress if she could get us our water - she went to get our waitress who took another 5 minutes to get our water.... It was WATER!!! riggies arrived and my plate looked like the exxon valdez spill... should not have eaten them I have been regretting them for the last 6 hours. Great service...my colleague and I requested a space to work and we were placed in a corner round table with outlet access to set up our laptops to get some work done. This place was just okay. Nothing seems homemade. I tried the Utica Greens here and they were very far from the best but they were fine. Next was steak and chicken. Again, it was decent but nothing to rave about. Last, I tried the Hot Apple Crisp. This is what kind of ruined it for me. It tasted, looked and felt like it came out of a microwave. Terrible food. Avoid. There have to be better choices in the vicinity. While traveling through Utica, my wife and I wanted a dinner from a local restaurant instead of a big chain. This was one case where we should have just gone to the Friendly's next door. Nearly every aspect of dining experience was terrible. Although our server was friendly, she disappeared for long stretches. The food was of poor quality and very poorly prepared. First came my side salad. It was served with lettuce that both partly frozen and partly spoiled. It was disgusting and completely inedible. I would have sent it back to the kitchen, but our server was no where to be found until she brought out our entrees. I ordered the chicken parmigiana, which was listed on the menu as one of "Babe's favorites," which I thought meant that it would be well prepared. When it was dropped in front of me, I could immediately see that the chicken was overcooked - over a quarter of the breading was burned black! The chicken itself was tough and dry, and the breading had a strange taste. The pasta was cooked properly and the sauce was mediocre. My wife ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. It came with three large meatballs, and she could only eat part of one of the dry, flavorless balls. They do have a good beer selection, and the bar area on Saturday was packed with locals. Prices were low, but when the food isn't really edible, I can't say that they were good prices. read more

First time going to Babe's since the new ownership. My boyfriend got the chicken parm sandwich, which the menu claims is "three tender strips of chicken breast..." but was just a large patty, which confused us. He liked it OK (burnt his tongue) but I thought the chicken looked just a little pink in the middle so I couldn't enjoy it, plus the sauce was VERY sweet. Tomatoes on the side were mushy and obviously past good - photo attached. Fries were free with the sandwich, which was a plus, and they were excellent. I ordered a margherita pizza, and that's not at all what I got. Neither of us liked it. The cheese to sauce ratio was the opposite of what it's supposed to be, and the basil was scarce and NOT fresh. The pizza really seemed like it had already been sitting out for a while and was lukewarm. Mysterious greasy patches around the crust that tasted dreadful and the cheese layer was disgusting and congealed. Didn't even resemble a wood fired margherita pizza. Our server and the staff were very nice and helpful but something is seriously wrong with the new Babe's kitchen. I wouldn't recommend Babe's for anything further than drinks and some fried apps. read more

I've been to Babe's a few times. It's a decent and large place, but by no means a home run place to go. Service is rather meh and the prices for food are average, but they do have an extensive menu and a number of neat wall decorations. If you come to Babe's try the chicken riggies, which is a Utica food speciality that combines chicken, rigatonis, a spicy sauce and peppers. I wound up here during "Riggie Fest" once, so I got to put steak in my riggies instead of chicken. There's better food choices in Utica, but you'll do OK eating here. read more
