My giant burger was a welcome sight after a few hours on the road and didn't disappoint. The service is friendly and quick, and the mining implement decor is a fascinating trip back in time. I'm a local and eat here regularly so I thought I'd update my last post from a few years ago. The service at Babe's is always GREAT - pretty quick, smiling wait staff. I always get the same thing so my order come's quick, which is great! I'm glad they were able to hang on and stay open during the past few months. I will note that despite being a BBQ place, THEY DO NOT SELL ANY STEAK DINNERS CURRENTLY due to the high cost from their supplier. I don't normally get a steak but I would expect many people would want to order one here and may be disappointed. So just a heads up and hopefully they'll have them soon, but their burgers and sides are delicious. It's a small joint and with the limited seating now available it can get busy and fill up. And they are closed Mondays! It seems I always think about going there on a dang Monday! Happy to support local business. read more

There were 4 of us who went there for lunch and are glad we stopped as we were looking to a place while passing through Camp Verde. The food was absolutely outstanding and the staff was great. I had the barbecued brisket Burger which was loaded with meat and very, very tasty. The other 3 all agreed that their food was fantastic also. The moment I got out of the car I was greeted with some awesome mesquite smoke. The BBQ pit is right at the entrance. The pulled pork sandwich was delicious as well as the chicken sandwich. The cowboy beans were bland and the ribs had a litter fluid taste which killed the mesquite flavor. The waitress was extremely nice. The decor is also really nice. read more

I moved out of Camp Verde 20 years ago and this was my favorite place by far. I just came back for a visit and nothing has changed. They have the best hot wings around amazing BBQ and awesome burger. I had the smoked ribs, beans, and cole slaw. The cut of meat wasn't the best and my suspicion is that they use Mesquite wood in the smoker. The smoke flavor was a bit more pungent than I care for. And compounding the lack of a good dry rub, the ribs were drenched in a very mild BBQ sauce. (I prefer the ribs served dry and to add a nice spicy BBQ sauce). The pinto beans were bland . . . I add onion, red pepper, and chorizo to my beans. The Cole slaw and corn bread were fine. To my disappointment, the owners of the business have several political posters\signs demonstrating their support for one of the political parties. Don't we get enough divisiveness in Washington and on television without bringing it into your patrons' dining area as well? The owners even have a derogatory sign disparaging the people in their own community. read more

My husband and I, as well as my Brother in-law and Sister in-law had Dinner today at Babe's Round Up. It was a pleasant experience with a homey type of atmosphere. We were seated and asked our drink preferences immediately, which was much appreciated (we were at Out of Africa all day), as we were thirsty and hungry. My Brother In-law was happy to choose a beer from a wide assortment of beers that were available. Some of the food items ordered were a side of ribs, beef brisket sandwich, and a Beef Brisket Dinner. The beef brisket and pork ribs were delicious. My Sister in-law especially liked the thick and tasty BBQ sauce. Dinners come with Cowboy Beans, one side, and a side salad or soup, and a biscuit. The biscuits had just the right amount of density and were very good. The portions were generous and filling. We each had to bring some food home. Our waitress was attentive and helpful explaining the menu items. She was a great waitress. At the end of Dinner we noted a sign that said they had homemade carrot cake, so a couple of us decided to take a slice of cake home, as well as some apple cobbler. I ate my carrot cake this evening......it was absolutely the best carrot cake I have had in many years. That slice of cake topped off the evening to a fulfilling, absolutely tasty Dinner with excellent service. We all said we were looking forward to another enjoyable Dinner at Babe's in the foreseeable future. Thank you! read more

Was happy to find a BBQ house in town. Walked in seat down 30 minutes. And not even a drink order. Waitress never said hello only people at 3 tables. Worst service in camp verde. Wouldn't recommend this place. Thought we found the diamond in the rough and only got dirt. Sorry folks you need to wait on people to make money. read more

They don't know the difference between a ribeye and a new york steak. Been coming here for years and although it's sufficient for our little city when compared to a real attempt this place really stinks. Chewy low grade cuts. The cooks really do try hard but they can't put lipstick on a pig. Give these guys a real quality cut of meat and they might just do ok. But when you buy the lowest grades you get reviews like this. Service when eating in isn't terrible, less you count the time employees wanted to close an hour early and stopped us at the door while walking in to eat. Had to convince them to stay open as we and another small group were walking in. They were upset. Had enough. This past Friday we ordered pickup to go. Got home and realized my order for a ribeye somehow turned into a new York tire straight off a delivery truck. Needed a chain saw to finish that thing. No thanks gang, I'm out. read more

Really wish this were a decent place to eat, it just isn't though. Overpriced, first off. Ribs are good, but that's it and I have given this place 5 visits. I have a problem with a 'bbq' joint that isn't bbq'ing their own food. Perhaps they are, but there is no smell of bbq or smoke in the air, and the burger I had was certaily from a flat grilltop (just look in the window from outside). The pulled pork tastes nasty every time. Want sour cream on your baked potato? Ok, $1.00. I just hate that crap. Very nice people that work there and own the place, hate to hate, but everyone in my 4 person party felt awful after eating their dinner on our last visit. Nothing notable on anyones plate, most of the food didn't even get eaten as it tasted 'wrong'. If you must go, get the ribs I suppose. read more

Service was 5 star! I ordered the grilled cheese last night (it comes with green chilis & tomatoes on it). Well, the cook forgot the tomatoes, but the grilled cheese was still amazing - so good that I ordered one to go, so I could eat the next day. I told our waitress the one I just ate didn't have tomatoes, so please make sure the one I'm taking with me has tomatoes on it. I saw AND heard her tell the cook that he forgot the tomatoes & to make sure he put tomatoes on this next one. Fast forward to today - took my grilled cheese out of the fridge to have for lunch, & NO TOMATOES. OMG I love this this place! I would definitely come back to this amazing mom & pop restaurant again. You can tell the owners take pride in their restaurant by the high quality food they provide. They have the best BBQ sauce I have ever tasted, I had to take some with me. I knew I was getting close to the restaurant because I could smell the delicious smoked BBQ from a mile away. Small bun from any cheap grocery bread isle and not much meat. I asked for beans for my side, i guess they don't serve BBQ baked beans?? What i got were some cooked beans in water? Not very noteworthy. Also NO BBQ sauce sitting on the tables, which is kinda lame for a BBQ place. Small BBQ beef sandwich, French fries and coke for $13. Must have caught them on a bad night. 6:45 on a Friday night, and they were out of ribs and out of wings. Our order, brisket sandwich and a chicken sandwich with usual sides, took 45 minutes. They were pretty full when we arrived but it thinned out fast, and the kitchen wasn't having to provide food for all the tables at once, in fact only a couple of other tables needed to be serviced before us. Anyway, the food was good once it arrived, and I'd be inclined to give them another chance sometime if we passed through here, but I can't say the experience was entirely the best. read more

We went to the Montezuma Castle while we were on vacation in Arizona, and leaving the castle we were pretty hungry. Leaving town, we passed this little BBQ place on the side of the road and decided that we had to stop, it smelled DELICIOUS. We go sit at the bar and got one of the combo meals to split. It is one of the very best BBQ places that we have ever been to! Delicious BBQ, very smoky flavor, the biscuits are homemade. Very flaky and buttery! The service was great. The smell of the smoking meat is what brought us here as we had driven by. We got the platter sampler and the best thing on it was the biscuit. The pork ribs were too fatty, the shredded pork was watery and tasteless, the brisket was just as watery and did not resemble a brisket in any way.
