Note: This review is not about the restaurant's food since I didn't get to that part when we went on 12/9/22. I made reservations at 7:45PM via Open Table. We got there, accidentally walked through what looks like a tunnel coz the receptionist/host was not on her post outside. She saw us and told us that check in is done outside. I said sorry for the mistake of walking inside. She did seat 3 guests before us, when she came back to her post, there was a woman who asked about walk in seats to the bar. She did not bother checking with us info about our reservations, instead, she walk back inside to find out if there are bar seats she can give to the woman who came in after us. Glad that she entertained a walk-in customer but she let us wait out in the cold. When she came back, I mentioned to her that we have a reservation, she sneered and said we will be seated soon. I questioned what the reservations are for if she would attend to walk ins who came after us. No apologies given, she just said that she will check us in after she check with the other people (WHO WERE WAITING BEHIND US COZ WE WERE THERE FIRST WITH A RESERVATION). She entertained 1 person with a reservation and another walk-in guest before turning to us and said, "follow me". Been to Michelin star rated and high rated restaurants here and in other countries and have always encountered hosts who drops lines like "sorry for the wait" at the minimum. This girl appears to have let us wait on purpose just because I asked her after she had been curt to us from the very beginning. She led is to our table but our night was already ruined. I asked for her name, she turned and gave me another sneer, "Rachel" she said. I asked for her manager who was in perfect timing just behind her. The manager was really nice and listened to my concern, offered accommodations but I refused the table hence the host ruining our night and just informed the manager of the unpleasant experience. To Rachel the host, we are just two dissatisfied customers. I know that they will fill our table easily but she still was one of the worst I've encountered. read more

I highly recommend Bacari for a date or hangout out with friends it's a great atmosphere for whatever you want. My group of 19 friends went out last night. They were very accommodating, quick, and the food was amazing. Also shoutout to our waitress Leah she made the experience even better. Hopefully next time I go we get Leah as the waitress. Wasn't particularly wowed by our experience here. Everything is a small portion for tapas style and for the most part it's nice to try a bunch of small things but there are some dishes kind of ridiculous for the price. The gnocchi is like the size of a small pinkie finger tip for $14 (not worth it for me). I would say get the tripoline pasta and the sea bass if you're trying to maximize fullness but not pay an excessive amount. The feta filo was delicious but I feel like you could do without it. If you're sharing, the shrimp ceviche is nice but I don't think it's super worth it either. I would not recommend the bacon and double cream Brie pizza: it was so disappointing. The dough is a cracker and the toppings seemed like something I would make at home with random ingredients in my pantry. Eating it didn't make me feel like I was at a restaurant. I wish we ordered dessert because looking at the photos online it could have saved them from my thoughts about the food but we had other plans. I saw all the other reviews saying how dark it is in there and I cannot agree more. It was such a struggle to see what was going on or what I was eating. I felt bad taking any photos with flash or using my flashlight since it seems more disturbing than just making it slightly brighter in there. Food here was phenomenal, I loved the brussel sprouts, shakshouka, and the cheesiness of the egg pizza was delicious. We were served by Justin, who did a great job with accommodating our needs and took care of us. Wow. Wow. Wow. What a perfect way to start the week. We made the reservation the Friday before just to make sure our spot would be secure. Things are picking back up in the city and people are itching to be out so i definitely recommend making a reservation vs walking in. It's honestly the thing I miss most after spending months cooped up in my apartment. Anywho. We showed up just in time for our 6pm reservation. Lucky for us, we found street parking. All we did was cross the street. Right off the bat. I knew we were going to have a great time because the hostess out front was super cool. Our server, Crystal came over shortly after we sat down. This place is super romantical specially after the sun goes down and all the lights hanging from the trees are turned on. There were a few people celebrating their birthdays and one couple had a gender reveal. Aside from a couple of dishes that were just ok to me, everything we ate was honestly so good. They all stood out in their own way. There's definitely some that will be repeats when I go back. I've been to the other Bacari locations and have enjoyed them all. This hidden charmer is no different. We came soon after restaurants opened again in LA. I made a reservation at 5 to ensure we'd get a table with the reduced capacity rules. Our temperatures were taken, there was hand sanitizer readily available and everyone was properly masked and tables set a good distance apart. The patio area is more like a totally shaded porch... very nice and feels like having cocktails in an enchanted forest. They have a nicely curated wine list and our server was able to recommend a perfect white to go with our selection of shared plates. We had the gorgonzola pasta, the seared scallops, the seared petit filet and the octopus. Everything was very good - I particularly loved the fresh tasting scallops with corn. Service was friendly and professional. This is really a pretty place - would be great for a date or really any occasion. Even walking in - you walk through this gorgeous stone tunnel/hallway feels special... so when you bring someone here you'll instantly become the friend that always knows the best places. Only minor quibble - although the food is really good, the dishes didn't always feel "shareable" or easy to eat in the small plates/sharing format, particularly the pasta - even though that was delicious. A few nibbly things would be fun! But this Bacari is as good as the others - which is to say, quite good! read more

Im updating my review bc in thinking about it, I felt it was worth reaching out to the restaurant to take a look at the receipt. The manager, Brittany, responded within the hour and looked into it. They thought I had ordered a more expensive tequila and she immediately refunded me the money. I was extremely surprised at how quickly she responded and how quickly she rectified the issue. I assumed I would just eat the cost of it and not go back but I really appreciate her efforts in ensuring that the issue was resolved. Brittany, thank you again. I there last night with a friend and we ordered the beet salad, steak, scallops and a pizza. My friend had 3-4 glasses of wine and I had 4-5 tequila drinks and it came out to almost 400. The tequila (one shot on the rocks- not a double) cost almost $180 for just your standard casa migos. The food was good but bc of the value, I would never go back nor would I recommend this place. I've been here many times before and have never experienced such crazy pricing on the drinks. The service was fine- nothing bad nor outstanding though we did have to ask twice for water and they brought it out after our first dish came out which was odd. The place itself if sitting in the outside patio area is beautiful but if you're gonna pay almost $400 for a small dinner and you're leaving hungry, you might as well go to a steakhouse like mastros. Came here to celebrate a bday. Food was delicious and reasonable. Service was good except for a mix up on one dish. Our server Nick was proactive enough to ask the mgr to deduct that dish from the bill; 2 main courses instead of 3 came to our table, so one of us had to wait for at least 20 min while the rest of us ate. Not good. Several loud customers made it hard to talk until they left in the lovely courtyard. Walked carefully in and out of the restaurant and to and from the restrooms (2) bc the path and steps were precarious. Nice trees created a lovely ambience. Come early to find street parking. For starters, there's street parking out front but be careful cause street parking ends right around the time they open and, even though the meters run a bit later, at a certain time the valet company takes over that street and can issue tickets, even if the meter accepted your money (digital meters which would/should normally be turned off). There's street parking down a ways if you don't mind walking When we came here, we didn't realize that we had previously been to their Glendale location which was mediocre... I think they have a Dt spot too. This one has a nice breeze cause it's mostly an indoor:outdoor space rather than patio/sidewalk seating at Glendale. Food, however, was similarly ok. We had their house red and four dishes all of which were not memorable. Considering the plethora of options in the area, I'd prob check out other places first, esp cause I don't like having my car valeted and finding street parking wasn't all that easy. There's a cute dog adoption place in walking distance down the street if you're waiting for a table. Fun to check out the cool non profit w sweet pups! read more

Food (5/5): The flavors in the Bowl of Mussels are absolutely astounding. I would come back here just to eat the Bowl of Mussels. The Oaxacan pasta was really creamy and the actual pasta texture had a really nice bite to it. Both of my dishes oddly complement each other well and I highly recommend both of them. Price (3/5): Oaxacan Pasta $11, Bowl of Mussels $16, & $25 for Unlimited Drinks. The pasta I thought was a little over priced (I think for the quantity of the pasta, it could have marked off $1) and since I was only able to obtain 3 drinks for what was supposed to be unlimited for $25, I kept the price as average. Service (2/5): Restaurants in LA should be either at 25% capacity or 50%. Bacari looked as if it was 50% and we did not receive great service. I can tell our server was trying really hard to be attentive to all his guests and helping other staff but I ordered a price-y 90 minute unlimited alcohol drink and only had 3 glasses. It took them about 20-30 minutes to get me a drink. I even asked another server to get the drink for us and they still lagged on getting me a glass. If I didn't see our server really hustling, I honestly would have gave a 1 for service. When I come back, I hope the service will be a little quicker! Ambiance (5/5): The perfect place for date night and special occasions. The dim lighting and outside seating that is actually found in the restaurant (go there and you'll know what I mean) is so pretty. I will definitely be coming here again. read more

My group and I had a wonderful time at the outdoor patio at Bacari. Due to covid concerns, we were looking for a restaurant with outdoor dining in the Mid-City/La Brea area and everyone was really pleased with Bacari. Although the front entrance is small, the outdoor patio is covered in trees and is really cute. They also have plenty of space heaters to ensure you are not cold while dining outside. The service was fantastic and they have wonderful food and drinks. Everyone enjoyed their choice of cocktails and wines, except for the house wine. All the food is tapas style so small portions but they are meant to be that way so you can try a little of everything. We had a group of 7 so the server recommended some of the more shareable items that are larger. Some of the favorites were the pear and brie pizza, smoked mushroom pizza, brussel sprouts, salatim (the fresh pita it comes with is so good!), mussels, shrimp ceviche, and burrata. Went there last night for a party of 2. We sat but the list beautiful outside Garden Patio. Customer service is great, they were all friendly and accommodating. The staff were wearing proper PPE. We enjoyed the food. We ordered different items on the menu and it was definitely worth it. The food quality was great as well. My favorite was the mussels. The dessert called "best cake and ice cream I've ever had" was the bomb! We also had frog legs, sea bass, octopus, tacos, lamb kabobs..... I would definitely go back. I have been to this location multiple times and it has never disappointed me. This time we decided to celebrate a friend's birthday here with a pre-fix menu and they did a great job of handling everything from food to the service. I got the Chill Pill cocktail and it was great - not too sweet! The Negronis were good as well. Few of my favorite things from the menu here are the baguette - so good, Salatim (the pita bread was so fresh and warm), Pork Belly, Oaxacan pasta and the Pilpelchuma shrimp. The Bacari fries are really good too - my sister is a big fan! For dessert, I like the "best cake you've ever had" with ice cream. We had about 15 people in our party and the service was amazing! Our server was on point and checked on us multiple times and made sure we all had what we asked for. As for the price, everything is very reasonably priced and the pre-fix menu was only $35 per person, which is a great deal for the amount of food we all had. Bacari did very well with this location. Cool spot at the corner of the street and lot of open space. We sat on patio/deck which was much better in terms of noice levels. It gets pretty loud inside even though it's open space concept! We tried most of their specials from pork belly, burrata, shrimps, gnocchi, and pizza. All the dishes were absolutely delicious; full of flavor, well balanced, and not too heavy. Just to note- all dishes were served with good amount of intervals and you end up ordering more food/drinks then you need. But over all love the place, definitely recommend! read more
