Came here desperate on Christmas Eve and was pleasantly surprised! Ambiance: They had some christmas lights up and the inside is a little on the small side so it had a cozy feel. The tables run down one side while the bar/kitchen runs down the other. They have an outdoor patio that would be nice if it isn't windy. Food: Awesome! I made this reservation for a party of 6 just hoping to get a decent meal considering most places were closed. Everyone ended up being extremely pleased with their food from the chicken dishes to pasta to risotto. The desserts were very tasty as well, the Profiteroles stole the show. Service: Very attentive and polite. Our particular waiter was an actual Italian so it was cool to have the old country flavor all the way in Hawaii. My husband and I love this place. It is our favorite Italian restaurant on the island. Pros: Delicious food, intimate ambience, beautiful decor (interesting chandeliers/ceiling pendants). Owners are friendly and out and about assisting with managing; one even came over to pour our water once and stayed to chat about making the perfect cup of espresso. Meh: Service can be hit or miss. Cons: make reservations unless you want to sit in a weird, awkward table in the middle right near a main passage route for servers. Recs: The gnocci is melt-in-your-mouth amazing! The only perfectly cooked filet of salmon I've had since moving to Hawaii has been at this restaurant... flaked, but again, melted-in-your mouth. How do they do that? I highly recommend checking out their menu. It's all amazing. I had the leg of lamb over risotto rice with a slice of the best cheesecake I've ever had at a restaurant. Visit: 8/7/09 - Dinner. Had the Pollo Piccata and Creme Brulee. The Pollow Piccata was okay. The chicken was oily. I know this dish was supposed to be oily, but it just tasted more oily than ususal. Who knows, maybe bad day to eat. Creme Brulee was awesome. I enjoyed it a lot. Service was alright. Nothing spectacular. Price was more expensive than what I was hoping for, but at least it's cheaper than the place down the street. I will come back. I want to try the Marsala next time. Wish I could of rated the food but they never made it for us! We ordered at 5:30pm online. The confirmation told us to be there at 6:02. When we arrived we were told they were finishing up the order. At 6:33pm I was told it would be 20 more minutes. Well we waited in total over an hour with our 1 year old outside only to find that they just never cooked anything from our $100 order. We watched customers come in, sit down, and eat a whole meal while we waited for our food. We even saw an employee come outside to give his girlfriend takeaway. We ended up just having to cancel it and leave to rush and get our baby something to eat so we could get her fed before putting her to bed. I am appalled by their disorganization and lack of empathy for making us think our food was being prepared and having us wait for so long when in actuality nothing was being made. I've been here for dinner twice and had two completely different experiences. The first time we went, we had to wait 10-15 minutes despite having a reservation; however, the host chatted with us and brought wine while we waited. The food and the service for the rest of the night was fantastic. We had a very attentive and efficient waiter and the food was great. We went again this last weekend and everything was terrible. Our table was not set up properly (requested a high chair- it wasn't there), seated without menus and had to track down someone 10 minutes later, our waiter was terrible, he did not check on us and we waited 1hr for our food. People who came in after us received their food before we did. Also, as we were waiting, we heard him apologize to another table for bringing out the wrong beer. He also interrupted us on two occasions by yelling out to a friend passing by on the sidewalk and also reaching across our table to the table next to us to take their check, both times we were talking with him. I'd have to agree with Nathan with the different kind of experience between take out and dining in. My husband and I ate there a few months ago. We got the bruschetta, I got the gnocchi and I forget what the husband got. For dessert, we had the mascarpone cheesecake. The brushcetta was fine, pretty standard. My gnocchi was tasty. The gnocchi was how it was suppose to be and the cheesecake was delicious. My husband, not much of a white wine drinker, asked the waiter to recommend one for him telling him that he usually prefers a dry red and the waiter brought him a glass my husband really enjoyed. The service was great. Just a few days ago, feeling lazy and craving a big ol' bowl of pasta, we ordered take out from this place. We ordered the carpaccio, the bucatini with mussels, veal with prosciutto and the pappardelle del campo. We really enjoyed the carpaccio. My husband had never had it before. They served it with olive oil, capers and lemon. The meat was very tender and when all the extras were add it was a tasty dish. The carpaccio was salt and pepper crusted and the meat was possibly cured, which I don't know if that's the traditional way. I've had it before and don't remember it being like that but it was still tasty. Our other dishes, while far from inedible, not that great. The mussels with the bucatini were huge, making them chewier and a little fishier in flavor. But they did give you a good amount of them so if you like them like this you'll be happy. The tomato sauce therefore was a little fishy tasty as oppose to slightly sea salt flavored like it should've been. All the ingredients in my pappardelle didn't seem to quite to with eachother. The chicken was kinda dry. The sausage, sundried tomatoes, chicken and demi-glace each just didn't meld well with eachother and the demi-glace was kinda tangy as if they didn't cook what ever wine they used in it down first. The breaded veal cutlet could've had a crispier crust and maybe the mozz and prosciutto should be broiled on because the dish was almost mushy. If you're going to eat here, I'd say dine in instead of taking out and stick to the simple dishes. The ingredients here to mainly fresh so if you go with the simple standard italian dishes they'll most likely be the best things on the menu. The ambiance is simple yet romantic and therefore good date place. I think I'm just going to invest in a pasta machine and make my own the next time I'm craving Italian. (side note, everyone is checking off that this place has only beer and wine but we ordered cocktails for a friend at another table and we ordered a glass of limoncello with dessert) read more

I've been coming here for years, special occasions to just a great meal. I've tried many dishes and never really disappointed (I just wish that they would add more lobster in their lobster ravioli!). Apps are good and so are their desserts. Love the creme brulee, cheese cake, and tiramisu. In my opinion, they have the most AUTHENTIC TIRAMISU on the windward side! Gotta have it, they sometimes go a bit heavy on the cocoa dusting, so just ask for a light dusting and you will be perfectly fine. read more

I order it with chicken breast to get a bit of protein. The meal is AMAZING... some of the best Italian food I've ever eaten. You can't go wrong at this place the food is great quality and is artfully prepared. The staff are all friendly and provide great service. You'll often see the owner working. I'm sure his presence and eye for quality make the restaurant what it is. Baci Bistro is a nice place for pasta! For quite a while I didn't even know where it was or that I've even drove by it countless times! Those of you who are familiar with Kailua - it's right by Cinnamon's & if you can't find any street parking, don't sweat it..just park in that same parking lot you would if you were going to Cinnamon's. From the exterior, the place doesn't even look like a restaurant, but inside is really nice. Gives you kind of an at home feel with the dim lights, & with pictures of (i'm assuming) Italy. It's a pretty small place, I ain't gonna lie, its a pretty tight squeeze between tables & I felt as though the servers butt is all up in your face if he/she is helping the table next to you......BUT(no pun intended) the service is really good..not super outstanding or anything.. Now on to the food, I've only been here a couple of times, the first being our anniversary dinner and I just had to return because of one dish in particular the Lobster Ravioli..it is, and I quote my girlfriend, "heavenly" or "to die for". And I have to agree, It was delicious! I, on the other hand, got the catch of the day special Grilled Opah w/ Linguini. That was delicious as well. Both are great choices that I'd recommend for any first timers out there, or even anyone looking to try something out of thier "norm" What I found funny at this restaurant (which probably happens at many restaurants that serve wine) is as it fills for their dinner rush & people get into their wine it gets louder &LOUDER. I'd like to take a second additionally to talk about how friendly and attentive one employee was in particular, Michael Wolff. We are still pondering that one. Usually have to eat my pasta (ravioli this night) fast because it comes "warm hot" but not "hot". That has always happened to me when I've gone there. Their special ravioli with sausage meat over it was different this time from a year ago.....the raviolis seemed harder in texture. It is however my favorite dish there. A deviously unassuming bistro, it sits wedged between two large, impersonal office buildings and spills out towards the street with an eclectic urban elegance that one would expect to find in Little Italy, or even just Italy. The interior is warm and personal, but not synthetically so like, say, an Oregano's; it is authentic in its tight corners and creaky chairs, with an electric old-time appeal that stays with you long after you've walked back into the tropical Hawaiian streets. The food here is phenomenal--and I don't use that word lightly. I tried the sausage gnocchi, lobster ravioli, calamari, and garlic bread, and was met with increasingly varied and balanced flavors that one might expect at a higher price point. The desert was (dare I say?) incredible. The cheesecake was the best I've ever had, the creme brulée was rich with a smoky glaze, and the 'Chocolate Delight' was a titularly delightful chocolate mousse cake which was rich, but not unwantedly so. The service was grand. The waiter who served my party was knowledgable and kind, and the busboy who filled our water glasses was very attentive. All in all, this place SLAPS. Baci's never fails to come through. The ambiance can be a little off with the plastic chairs outside and the nutcracker Christmas motif inside, but the food comes through every time. My regular is a Caesar salad, pollo peperoni, then a piece of cheesecake. Wash that all down with a bottle of Riesling and you got a set meal. Other items I have had success with: veal over risotto, and 4-cheese Ravioli. Many people make reservations here so there could be a wait even though you see open tables. 25% Monday Madness is a big night for them. Go early (5:30) or go late (post 8:30) and you shouldn't have a problem, but be weary, go too late and they might be out of cheesecake. read more

For a chill night on the (small) town, my girlfriend and I enjoyed the experience of Baci Bistro. We sampled two items from the Special Menu: the truffle-stuffed gnocchi and their take on a Caprese salad (very creamy, very soooooft moz), called something like "Barrate." The gnocchi was frickin awesome! But don't expect to eat too much of it, them little potato pillows are rich and filling. I played cleanup on that dish, twas my girlfriend's. Food overall was good. What really got me was the attention we got from the staff. They really care about their customers and know their own food extremely well. Our server, Matthew, won the Oscar though. Amazing job all around. The lack of a star in my review is just cuz we had to wait a while to get seated even with reservations. And mostly cuz I can't do half stars. And the Pappardelle was just ok. We've been to Baci Bistro many times and generally have enjoyed our meals there. Last week we went to celebrate our anniversary and, although we did enjoy ourselves, felt motivated to make a couple of comments. First, the service was extremely slow. The waiter was moving really fast; it was difficult to get his attention. At the same time, a girl with a water pitcher was incessantly - no, obsessively- filling our water glasses. Perhaps the girl could have helped with the serving duties and lightened up with the water? Seriously, our waters must have been filled every five minutes. And she didn't really ask, just walked over and poured water into the glass even if it was almost full. Eventually, it became irritating, especially given that the meal took almost two hours to complete. More serious, though, was the fact that the specials were radically more expensive than the other items on the menu. The more expensive menu items were in the low $20 category, and then the menu said 'specials' w/o specific prices. We ordered the specials (fish), but didn't check on the price, assuming that they would be similar to the menu prices. When the check arrived, we were surprised to find that the fish cost $36! The fish was overcooked and dry. We both got the special, my dish got an amazing heap of capers on it, her dish hardly had any. I think the cooks were getting a little careless. Sure, we should have asked in advance; I'm mentioning this in case a person reading this Yelp is tempted to order a special. CHECK ON THE PRICE if that's important to you. You don't want to be surprised like we were! It's no fun when a festive occasion ends with a larger than anticipated bill. read more

Highly recommend hole in the wall Italian Restaurant. Had dinner here for the first time to celebrate my father's 60th birthday. My dad wanted to eat some authentic Italian food, so after doing some research on Yelp, this place came highly recommended. My dad is a chef and it is very hard to please his palate. Unless my daugher made reservation without knowing this place was not ideal to dine again as I had unpleasant experience there last time. As expected our experience this time was again unpleasant. After long period of time to waiting outside although had reservation , finally called to inside the restaurant. OMG!!! this place does not follow any COVID19 regulations at all!!! Tables are back to back and there is absolutely NO 6 feet soocial distancing. The worst thing is that chairst are also back to back. You have to sqeeze into your chair to siting down. Your can't move once you sitting down as other party's person was sitting right behind you. It was awful. We had to wait more than 15 min. to waiter to greet us, then wait another 10 min. to served glass of water, another 10 min. to served bread without butter, olive oil or balsamic. There was no napkin so I aked the waiter. He brought just one napkin, hello we were party of two!!! Their service level was out of question. Food was so-so. The waiter didn't check on us until brought the bill. No water refill, check to see if we are okay or need another bread. What is wrong this place??
