Finally made it to Batch & Box in La Jolla, and it definitely lived up to the hype! We tried the Pink Lady (10/10), Blondie (10/10), and the classic Sugar cookie (7/10). The Pink Lady and Blondie were absolute standouts--so flavorful and perfectly baked. Every cookie tasted incredibly fresh, with a slight crunch on the outside and a soft, warm, gooey center on the inside. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and made the experience even better. My only small wish is that they offered whole milk instead of just 2%--there's just something about cookies and whole milk that makes the perfect pairing. Not sure why they have this location next to the Del Mar location, should have gone further North into Carlsbad so that it's easier access for us! lol. Us North Counties need some good cookie shops too. I hate this UTC location because it's out of the way to the far east right corner, not where the main food court area. Anyway, got their special flavor of the month, which was the Dubai and a regular chocolate chip cookie. The Dubai was super super rich, you need to take it home and eat it with milk. We ate half and saved the other half for the next day. Their chocolate chip cookie was like 4 cookies stacked on top of each other. Very gooey and rich. Not stingy on the chocolate. If there was one in North County, Carlsbad, SM or Oside, I would most likely choose over Crumbl. So this is a far drive and only when I'm in the area. There's no Levain in SD but Batch & Box will do! The classic was actually really good. I love these thick cookies because the exterior is nicely crisp while the interior is soft and gooey. It wasn't too sweet, and in fact, it had some salt on the top and I really enjoyed the hints of saltiness it added. It helped balance the cookie out. The gentleman was a tad bit too sweet for me. The boxing looks premium, which makes for a nice, casual "just because" gift. Batch & Box @ UTC LA JOLLA Parking is available for free for the first two hours. Passing by Batch & Box made me walk straight in, the smell was UNBELIEVABLE. My boyfriend and I walked in and they were pretty busy with only two staff members available. There was samples on the far left side, not sure why it was hidden from the room of customers walking in, it was more in the corner and was self serve. Customer service could've been worked on, no one greeted or really asked if we had questions. It was like just blank stare awaiting for people to order then leave. We decided to get the their most popular cookie that had I believe was called the pink lady? Not too sure. But it was the only one that spoke differently on the menu, it had raspberries and white chocolate chip inside. Taking a bite was magical, I loved EVERY single bite, it was warm and so flavorful. The price of each cookie is about $5. Overall, I will definitely be back to this place. It is pricey for just a cookie, but this is way better than any cookie i've ever had. So flavorful and unique! I just want to say, I love Batch and Box, their products are amazing and they're not overly sweet and I am really glad that they have a store front in La Jolla and Del Mar. Yesterday, for Earth Day they had a promotion where if you brought your own bag they would gift you a cookie from their designated list. It had been a day and I needed a little pick me up so my husband drove us after work with our pup. When I went in I had mentioned the Earth Day promo, I had such a great experience from the associate manning the front around, she was so sweet and kind and truly really genuine. She had mentioned all the sample flavors and when my husband made mention of the seasonal flavors she came right back out offered us the samples. Seriously so kind of her and after feeling really terribly about myself all day that interaction was really needed. I started off by ordering 2 dozen online but added on another 2 dozen when we realized there would be more people. Tried Batch & Box for the first time because the Dubai cookie caught my eye. Dubai chocolate is something I've been curious about so I decided to give it a try. The store was clean and very cute. The packaging for the cookie is really nice if you order larger amounts. They put it in a box so it would make a good gift to give to someone. The cookie is huge and very decadent. Came and got a dozen for work, they were a BIG hit! I got an assortment, They all had a slight crispy outside but were slightly chewy, just the right combination. My favorites were The Classic which had both milk and dark chocolate chips, definilty a classic chocolate chip cooked done very well. The Gentleman had the same chocolate cookie as the Cocoa PB but had chocolate chips instead of the peanut butter chips which was a chocolate lovers dream! The Oaty chip was also very good, one of my favorite things is an oatmeal cookie with chocolate chips. This one was very good and came topped with a sprinkle of salt on top which added more depth to it. The surprise of the bunch was The Pink Lady, with real strawberries and white chocolate chips. The strawberry really came thru, most places when they say its a strawberry cookie, it's just pink in color and has a little strawberry flavor. This one has a very strong strawberry flavor and the white chocolate chips are a great compliment. I didn't try The Sugar or The Doodle cause they are just not my style. We've visited the Del Mar location many times and haven't had always the best experience so I wasn't sure how the visit would be today at their UTC location (by Blue Bottle, Pacific Catch - that side of the mall). Today was a HOT day. I went to the mall to walk around, get lunch, and nothing more. I passed by this BB on way to car and decided to step in (b/c they're next to the parking machine). They had samples of their current flavors of the month (Churro and Smores). The Del Mar location rarely has samples and if they do they keep it behind the counter . The samples today were by cashier and Deyli (it's pronounced Daily I think) was beyond gracious, welcoming, and sooooo nice. The location had nice cold a/c even with the door open. I sampled both flavors and fell in love with them both! I had a feeling this was going to be my saving grace of an otherwise sub par visit to UTC that day. I think I've had the smores before at the del mar location as friend bought it last year but I didn't like it but this time it was yummy. I don't normally like milk chocolate but this cookie was sweet but in a 'oh my gosh this reminds me of childhood memory of smores' kinda delicious-sweet. I also got the Classic which is my family's go to cookie (it has both milk and semi sweet chocolate chips I think). The packaging for the 2 cookies is so cute and perfect for a gift (which I'm giving to my pup's best friend later). I wouldn't have made the purchase today had it not been for the above & beyond staff (yes Deyli you!). I would 100% visit this location over the Del Mar location any day if the staff is like her. It is cashless and paying was quick and easy with a credit card. Side note - we just went to An's Hatmaker in Del Mar for their country famous gelato but I felt the cookies today at Batch and Box beat out their gelato as a dessert option. read more
