Great menu (based on my group of 4's experience) but a bit over priced. I would give this place a 3.5 if Yelp had half stars! My boyfriend and I shared the tots, which were flavorful and crispy. I got the arugula salad with goat cheese/pistachios/raisins/brussel sprouts, which said it came with "roasted winter vegetables".. but there was only 1 small cube of squash. Besides that, I loved the salad! My boyfriend got the mac-n-cheese with pulled pork; he liked it and ate the whole thing, but the menu said it had crushed crackers/some sort of crunchy topping.. which it didn't come out with. We shared the donut dessert and chocolate cake dessert with the couple we were with, and the chocolate dessert was delicious! My boyfriend thought the beer prices were very over priced, especially compared to the local restaurants. I was surprised at majority of cocktails for $12- that's a price you usually see in the city, not in South County. I did enjoy my cocktail (High Fashion) but it probably could've been $10. read more

Held out on trying this place because of the mixed reviews. Glad we went! Our server Ryan was fantastic. We started with calamari as an appetizer. It was just ok, the breading was bitter, not the best I have had but not the worse Either! I enjoyed the crabcakes for my entree, they were very good. Bad service. Waited 20 mins just to get water and it was not busy. You saw all the staff standing around the kiosk/ host stand. Wait staff walking by no one making eye contact or saying they would be right with us. Restroom out of toilet paper, thank goodness I was in there with a family member who could get some from other stall and the trash was over flowing. Drinks were good. Food was okay, but the pineapple salsa the onions were rancid and I said something to our waiter and he went to kitchen and when he came back never said anything else about it/ acknowledge I had a bad meal. I'm so bummed out about this place. We've been there twice now, hoping to give this place a real shot. The exterior is beautiful but the interior is noisy, filled with flies and feels like a cafeteria. My husband and I first tried this place last week and didn't think it was THAT bad, but there were definitely issues. The biggest being the food. Firstly, the meal wasn't served as described in the menu. The menu said the cauliflower steak would be served on rice and it came out on mashed potatoes. Tonight, my husband ordered the cauliflower steak and it was served on rice. So the consistency is horrible. I got the salmon and it was actually awful. The salmon was edible but fatty, and the rice was served in a watery broth. My dad was with us and he ordered the lobster Mac and cheese which is definitely made with velveeta or some very similar "boxed cheese sauce" and has the tiniest amount of lobster plopped in the middle. I was camping in Narragansett & we took the short trip to Tilted Barn brewery. We originally planned on going back to Gansett for diner, but family from near by MA decided to meet us so we hit this place because it was there. The food was awesome as well as the specialty cocktails my wife ordered. Everyone was really happy with the food. The service was also top notch and it's got a fun and cozy atmosphere. Additionally they didn't beat us over the head, I found their prices to be very fair. Next time I'm up that way I would not hesitate to go back! read more

Today the B/40 got back in the game after a very rough start. Kudos to the management shutting down,fixing the issues and getting a fresh start. When I heard they were re opening today at lunch, I thought it was a perfect time to try it. I am glad I did. I enjoyed the deviled eggs and fish and chips. Deliscious and a good sized portion. I ended my day with Allies Donut bread pudding. If it's Allies,you know it's good. The service was fantastic. Spoke to the management simply to compliment her. Let's just lay out my case. Went to work at 12 noon. Didn't eat all day then went to B/40 for dinner. I had Deviled Eggs and Brussel Sprouts. At 9:00 that night I went from 100% healthy working in my kitchen to Violently Vomiting over my bathroom toilet. I barely made it to the bathroom toilet. I was Violently sick for 2/3 minutes and then :) I was back to 100%! I refuse to put into writing (for legal reasons) but if you look at the facts I'd say the Accusation would be accurate. Very nice farm-to-table restaurant! Stopped in today for a lunch/brunch and came away full, impressed and satisfied-ready to go back too! Started with nachos and wings. Both were kept simple, cooked and presented well and tasted delish! The nachos were great although buyer beware- your fingers aren't in there somewhere! Entrees were salmon burgers, the other burger and mama's fried chicken. All of the portions were generous and prices were reasonable- you'd think you were paying in Canadian dollars it was so reasonable. Hearing mixed reviews, I've been putting off coming but so happy we stopped by today. We arrived early and the place was already busy but we were seated right away. It was packed with a long wait by the time we left. Service was a little bit slow but the food was worth it. We tried the deviled eggs (French onion style) and it was a creative bite with great onion flavor. The tater tots were crispy with fun dipping sauces. My son, not impressed with the kids menu, had the naked wings that were nicely cooked. K had the fish tacos which were rated as the best he's had in a long time. Crispy white mahi mahi with a tangy slaw and fresh mango salsa. I had the salmon that was juicy and cooked to perfection. Paired with 2 large shrimp and a heavenly risotto. I've been here a number of times but nothing ever really made me want to take the time write a review. The service is generally good enough. The food is okay, but nothing special. There's usually a pretty good beer selection. Which leads me to my recent experience.... If you point me to a QR code to find the menu... and if you don't have prices next to your beer selections on that menu... and you have a laundry list of IPAs, all lumped together with nothing to distinguish one from the other beyond a name and short description... then don't be surprised when a customer is slightly displeased when he gets the check and sees he's been charged $24 for two drafts. I asked to speak to a manager, and when she arrived I told her, "Just FYI, if you're going to charge $12 for a beer, the price should be on the menu." I didn't ask to be comped or for any other kind of special dispensation, I just wanted them to know that listing prices might be good for customer relations. Did she say, "Ok, that's a good point, thanks for pointing that out and I'm sorry there was any confusion."??? No, she did not say that. Instead, she decided to take the more defensive approach and tell me that if I wanted to know the beer prices, I should have asked for a hard copy menu. Um... first of all, is this your first day in customer service? Second, how exactly was I to know that a hard copy menu was even an option in this day and age? Third, if you're going to insist on having more expensive options of what are generally "standard" microbrews, could you maybe consider putting them under a different drink menu heading (e.g., "Special Selections") instead of making the customer jump through hoops to figure things out? I'm always borderline about coming here, but an experience like this is going to end up landing me on the other side of that border in the future. read more

Amazing... absolutely amazing. I love this place, and will 100% be back. First, it's kind of away from any other restaurant. It's around very rural land (hence the name). I think the style and ambiance is just so cool. It's like sports bar vibes but also Easter brunch vibes. The menu is so diverse and had excellent options for both vegan and vegetarians. I am a meat eater, but the buffalo cauliflower, and poutine were honestly calling my name. And wow were they amazing. The cauliflower even heated up well the following day. Great service, no complaints. I would never have guessed that this was a brewery having passed it so many times over the years and only went in due to word of mouth. The decor and furnishing is a little underwhelming but the beer menu and food make up for it. I would love to rave about the food more but honestly the only good thing I had was the fish, and for me that was enough to warrant the 4 stars. The fish tacos are delicious. Huge pieces of cod on flour tortillas with a mango salsa and chipotle aioli. The flour tortillas made me pause but one bite and I was sold. The crunch of the beer batter was outstanding and the cod was so fresh, moist and tender. Not over salted and nowhere near dry or soggy which can't be said for most places even in New England. The fish in chips itself was a staggeringly massive portion and I would come back for that alone and the beer menu has something for everyone... However I do have some issues with some of the food items on the menu. The clam chowder was more like a bowl of potatos with cream sauce on it. Were there clams? I'm not even sure. This was a horrendous clam chowder, and this is Rhode Island for gods sake. Next were the short rib tacos. I didnt try them myself but the short rib tacos were quoted as being "not very good". The seafood roll was strangely on a croissant and loaded with random bits of seafood which wound up looking like a hot mess. Sometimes things should just be the good old classic done right. I guarantee a lobster roll would do better. Lastly was the Nashville chicken sandwich which was... embarrassing. I was expecting more flavor and heat and what I got was... a dry bland chicken breast? The truffle fries were good, but the truffle oil was super scant, and truffle oil is relatively inexpensive (it's mostly olive oil) so I'm not sure why they weren't more heavy handed with it. If they could elevate the rest of the menu to match the fried cod, I would have to restrain myself from eating here on the daily. Until then, this is 100% my go to for fish and chips from now on. read more

It's poor quality bar food with sit down restaurant prices. Ordered fish and chips and the taste and smell were off. Very fishy. The batter was terrible. My husband, who eats everything, didn't eat that. My 10 year old got the chicken tender kids plate. Frozen and not actual tenders. The meat in them was highly processed. They tasted freezer burnt and like fish. It was obvious the grease was old and bad. The calamari app also had a very fishy/off taste and the same issue with the batter that everything else had. I ordered the black bean burger and it was also not good. It was extremely thick with no texture other than mushy. And for some reason it was loaded with some mayo sauce that reminds me of Big Mac sauce. It came with tots but they were poor quality and hard. We also ordered New England clam chowder which my husband liked making it the only thing was enjoyed while eaten. We didn't complain but the waiter noticed that we didn't eat and sent the manager over who wanted us to review the food on the spot. Very awkward because it was obvious just looking at the food. The building is very pretty. The wait staff very nice. The food is really terrible and all frozen. If they're gonna try to pass it off as restaurant quality they should at least make sure the grease is fresh. And also figure out what is happening with the seafood and why it's fishy. read more

Went here with a group of friends to watch Those Guys perform. We sat and ordered food and it came out very quickly. The inside is very cute, with log wood decor and soft mood lighting. During the week it would probably make for a good date night. There was a crowd for the show so there was a long wait and the area was very noisy and super crowded as people were standing around the tables and booths. Also, a big pet peeve of our family is when dirty dishes are left on the table. At the end of our meal, the dishes from our appetizer were still there when we paid the bill. I would come back just for the buffalo cauliflower alone! It's kind of in the middle of nowhere but it's good to know that you can go with a large group and get a table pretty easily! (My only critique would be to maybe have a stricter dress code for the staff. The hostess was wearing an oversized hoodie, and some of the servers were in sweats. Having enjoyed fabulous meals since B40 opened, we were in shock at how bad the food was today!!! I sent my meal back and didn't even want anything else off the menu. In the past (pre covid 19) the french fries were homemade and the best in the area. The fish and chips were outstanding with the best coleslaw and homemade tartar sauce. Today's meal was over battered, raw and the frozen french fries awful!!! They didn't charge for my meal but the chef and manager didn't even take time to see my plate. Out here in the sticks the Back 40 has all of your large portion American home style snacks and entrees. The nachos were lit as you can tell that they were mostly consumed. HOWEVER, as pictured below the cheese game is weak. 4/5 star nachos could have been 5/5, so let's step up that cheese game. The fall salmon was perfectly cooked with lots of flavor. The potato hash could have had a little more seasons, but overall the dish was very good. The fried chicken was an ASTRONOMICAL portion, flavorful and juicy. The cranberry chutney on top made the dish. The ribeye wrap came on a large soft piece of naan which was a lovely surprise to your typical basic offerings. The wrap came with a side of fries, which on their own were like a unfrosted cupcake; I mean you'll eat it, but it's nothing without the partner of frosting/sauce. Any who, we ordered a side of ranch, and BY GOD was that the best ranch I've ever had. Imagine ranch and Parmesan peppercorn had a love child, but that love child mostly had the genetics of ranch. So yeah, the place is big and pretty loud, so wouldn't go here on a date, but with a group of friends it's a great spot for the woods. read more

We were out for a ride on a beautiful day here and ended up at this restaurant. It was kind of a breezy cool day but because we don't eat inside restaurants at this point we waited to eat outside. And considering that it was blustery and a little cool it was impressive that they had a porch full of tables and tables set up in the parking lot and they were all full. Once we were seated which wasn't too long we found out why it was so popular. The service was excellent. As soon as we were seated we were shown the specials menu, the regular menu, and the drink menu and asked what we would like to drink. We chose some beers and they came very quickly. The menu was very interesting and extensive but they had a beet and goat cheese salad which is one of my favorite things so I ordered that. It did not disappoint. It was so good and so tasty and they were not cheap with the goat cheese. Mike got one of the specials which was chicken and beef kebabs. I am usually leery about those things because I'm afraid that they are going to be dry but his was seasoned perfectly, nice and moist, and delicious. We were quite comfortable up on the porch and the only disappointment which had nothing to do with the restaurant was that there used to be a tree farm across the street years ago and it was gone. So the view could've been quite lovely and was not. But that's OK because we came to eat and it was worth it. read more

Unfortunately this place relies on being one of the few options in NK. We've been several times out of convenience and never left feeling satisfied. The food is mediocre at best.
