After a decent little hike in GNP we stopped in a Backslope Brewing for brewery visit #241 for me. Hey, you haven't been to 241 different breweries! BB was fairly busy on a Friday at about 5pm with quite a few tables occupied. We were seated on the enclosed patio area which was super nice with the beautiful weather. First up in my flight of four, was a Pillow Fight between SWPFTD and I. Wait. No, that's later back at the hotel and no I'm not giving a review of that... Anyway, the Pillow Fight wheat was very refreshing and I really enjoyed it. The Biere De Garde was a very nice amber ale with a little barnyard on the finish. No that's not a bad thing at all. Try it! Brown Bear is a Belgian brown aged in whiskey barrels for 2 months. This had that distinctive Belgian flavor but paired nicely with the whiskey and oak. None of the flavors overwhelmed the others. SWPFTD actually went with a pint of this and she generally avoids Belgians. Last for me was the plum sour. From the aroma I expected a very sour beer but even SWPFTD didn't find it overwhelming. This had a lot of plum flavor and sour on the nose but it was much more moderate on the flavor than I expected. We didn't do real food but did have the garlic fries which were perfect to hold the two of us over until dinner. BB was definitely a good stop. Check them out and try some beers! My family and I stopped by after our flight looking to grab lunch as we were famished! I didn't order any of their beers (only water for this mama to be!), but my husband had the Pilgrim and thoroughly enjoyed it! As far as food, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and my husband had the bulgogi bowl. We both enjoyed the meal and were full for the rest of the day! Amazing food, amazing beer all brewed on site. We ordered the electric noodles and ginger bowl and both dishes were outstanding. We had a flight and a few pours, all was fantastic. Service was awesome, Kelsey was outstanding. Not totally loving the rap music, but the other stuff outweighed the music. Our favorite beer was the London symphony, which is a sour, but it was not a strong sour, again outstanding. Highly recommend this spot in this cool town. read more

My favorite brewery and casual restaurant during our week stay in Columbia Falls for tons of Glacier National Park hikes. We went here several times. Everything sooooooo good. Whitefish is a cool town, but we thought this little brewery and restaurant far surpassed what we tasted in Whitefish. And those places were very good. But this place is the one that earns 5 stars. Don't expect fancy. But so good. Why? Amazing beers. Like the Saison aged in wine barrels. Like their IPAs and huckleberry one. Like their ginger beer. Food? Amazing bowls of quinoa with wasabi, rice, salad, tofu with Thai peanut sauce, pulled pork "healthy" bowl. But oh, their burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, chicken wings. Go unhealthy a bit, please. So good. Service? Super friendly. Negatives: they cannot serve beer after 8 pm. So double your order if arriving at 7:45. If you don't mind some waiting and a super casual atmosphere, and you do like cool beer and creative zesty food, do this. read more

Backslope Brewing has always been a solid choice for delicious, thoughtfully prepared meal and a tasty beer. Yes, their menu has changed--and yes, it's still amazing. You can still get a burger if that's your thing, but their falafel and gyros (wraps or plates) are loaded with amazing complex flavors, fresh veggies/greens/herbs, and plenty of meat/protein. I'm always stoked on how MUCH food you get and how high the quality is. And they obvious they put a lot of thought into crafting their menu items with the right sauces, toppings, and seasonings to really make them "pop". My household doesn't go out to eat very often, and Backslope is one of the few remaining spots we feel like is well worth our hard-earned money. AMAZING FOOD!!!! Took over an hour to get the food since we went right after a big rush. Drinks were good.

Had a bad experience due to bad service. The food was good, but we were charged $1.50 x2 for two 1 ounce servings of buttermilk salad dressing & The serving cups looked dirty. About the water served: The water was served to us from pitchers that are kept next to the front check in at the front window, these pitchers look dirty/dingy and we witnessed the water being taken from old pitchers and consolidated into nearly empty ones. This is a recipe for disaster, never should water be recycled this way and served to the public. read more

Very good. Service was good. We loved being able to get our own water to drink at self service. The beer was good, not enough choices but good. Parmesan fries were cold but were replaced immediately replaced with hot! Also appreciate Dijon mustard over yellow! Hamburger was big and cooked exactly to my specifications. Bulgogi dish was good but small for the price and as compared to other restaurants serving the same dish. Was in town for a night, and our Airbnb host recommended this place. It absolutely slaps. The bistro burger was out of this world amazing with goat cheese goodness. The fries were super solid too; crispy on the outside and didn't feel too fried. The max n cheese was also crazy good. We got 2 flights for $20, which was hella reasonable for being able to try 8 different beers. They were truly all good. Faves were the hibiscus beer, chai stout, and cashmere ipa. The days of the original backslope burger were soooo much better. When these guys first opened they served up the best burger I had ever had! It had sprouts on it, it was a creamy goat cheese I believe and juicy. Now, I just ate a tasteless hockey puck style burger and they have the nerve too to charge $2 for substitution of fries for a salad which consisted of a handful of baby greens probably from Costco. And, I can guarantee they cost the same or less than a potato plus labor to make fries! Really? This place has turned into a tourist trap on the route back and forth to GNP. Thank God the deep fried pickles are still good. For a total of $31.00 for a burger w salad and some deep fried dill pickles???? Not even close to being worth it. Sorry -won't go there again. Bummer. The burger was amazing (that's why they get any stars), you only get a couple of fries since the plates were so small, I've almost never left a restaurant still hungry but the portion size was so small for the $20 price we had to go to McDonald's after. I sat there waiting to get another beer, first one came in a 6oz glass, when I order a beer I assume I'm getting an adult portion for $7.75, I didn't get asked if I wanted another until I had only a quarter of my burger left. On our way back from hiking in the snow, we decided to stop in Cascade Falls for a bite to eat. This place had good reviews so we decided to trust the trusty Yelpers. Both my husband and I are not beer drinkers and a lot of the times these micro breweries are a hit and miss on the food. Fortunately for us it was a home run! The menu is limited but seems to have something for everyone's taste. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with a side house salad. My first bite was the salad. It's a mix of spring greens, red and green cabbage, celery (I think) and shredded carrots and sunflower seeds, tossed in the peppercorn house dressing. Warning: if you don't like pepper, then get the fries. However I LOVE pepper, so this salad with its complex flavors was delicious! I mean, really, the side salad was almost the star of the show! The fired chicken sandwich was equally delicious with this sweet tomato sauce, and then piled high with coleslaw. Make sure you ask for more napkins. You'll need them. The only downside to this establishment would be atmosphere. It didn't feel like your normal micro brewery. I looks like the owners bought an old diner and still had that old diner feel. With that being said, atmosphere doesn't matter if the food is good and here it's really good! read more

The food and beer were great! The atmosphere was great too and easy to accommodate our large party. However, the overall experience wasn't good because the service was awful! The restaurant uses an app where you order and pay for your meals and then they are delivered to the table. With the large party the server would walk to the table and yell out, "chicken sandwich!" We ordered several so associating the order number or OUR NAME when we placed the order would have helped tremendously. (My beers were easily delivered by name, so it was possible.) Plus, the servers were pissed when we couldn't immediately identify whose food it was and were incredibly snippy and rude in any communication. (I don't think I've ever experienced anything like it.) Our kids are teenagers who work in service industries and they all commented on how nasty and rude the servers were. We also have to track down 3-4 of our orders and one was received well after everyone else. I ordered two sides we never received either. Normally you could reflect the lack of service with the tip. However, I had to include the tip when I placed the initial order! The servers could do and act however they wanted with zero repercussions. In comparison, the following night we ate across the street and had fantastic service. Again, the food, beer and atmosphere were great, but the service was awful. read more

I really dislike leaving a negative review but I feel like I have to. I wasted over 2+ hours here on my vacation. We were told to wait on the patio and have a beer while we waited for a table. It took way too long to get a beer and then we got shortchanged when we paid. Even though we were told it was a 30-35 min wait, it was well over an hour.
