Luxor is a hotel I come to quite often, so naturally I was bound to eventually have to check out this place. I am personally a huge fan of sandwiches (trying to stay on the healthier side) and this place was quite the pleaser. Horrible. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and cup of homemade chili. I was waiting for my food and a guy brought his grilled cheese sandwich to the cook and said that he had ordered a grilled cheese with bacon and tomato and all he got was a regular grilled cheese. I watched the whole transaction and told my husband that the sandwich was probably mine. I never took my eyes off the cook who never walked to the grill. Two seconds later, my order number was called. The cook recycled my sandwich!!! He gave me the sandwich the other guy returned. During Covid no less. I called the cook out and he denied it, of course. But he was busted and I was absolutely disgusted. To top it off, the homemade chili is actually HORMEL chili. Nothing homemade about canned chili. This is one of those places I would've never tried had it not been for Yelp. A pretty nondescript little place hidden in a corner inside the Luxor you wouldn't think much of it. However, after giving it a try, I came back a second time! Everything was made fresh to order, and the meat was being sliced right in front of you! First plus, this place is open 24/7! We are obviously hungry coming home from clubs around 1-2am, and there aren't many options still open at the hotel at that time. So glad we found this one! The say cheese sandwich is delicious! Also tried the onion rings and they are tasty as well. Sandwiches range from $12-18 roughly. So a little more than, say, a subway sandwich, but not even comparable in quality. Very generous portions, enough for 2. And very well made and flavorful. The food here is surprising good for a place that's open 24/7. Almost all of the food is made fresh while you wait. Each time we came here, it was always fast and tasty. Grabbed a quick bite here before we checked out of the Luxor (had to use our food credit on SOMETHING!) I got the bagel and lox plate and my boyfriend for a ham and cheese sandwich. The lox plate was fantastic with a generous pile of lox, capers, onions, tomatoes, olive and a boiled egg. The ham and cheese sandwich was reported to be ok but nothing special as it was literally ham, cheese, lettuce and tomato on bread with no mustart or mayo. A few hours later a friend of ours came by and was hungry so we headed back to the deli so he could eat. He picked up the Turkey and Pastrami sandwich which was basically as big as my head. Needed a quick bite and we decided to grab breakfast here twice. Once I had a bagel with coffee and another time, a cubano sandwich. The coffee here is delicious. Dark , smooth but not fruity. Now that I can't have dairy in my coffee and only add sugar or sweetener, I can really taste the coffee profile. My cubano was huge! I only ate 2/3 of it. It's outrageous to charge $10 for a SINGLE cheeseburger. That shit didn't even come with fries. Pretty much, Luxor doesn't have a 24 hour cafe. What hotel DOESN'T have a 24 hour cafe? That is ridiculous. But let me save that for another rant. Given that there wasn't a cafe open, it DID help us drunks who were the casino at 2am. They do have a good menu, everything from cheeseburgers to breakfast. But it kills me that I paid $10 for a mediocre cheeseburger. Yeah. I'll never get over it. Walked by late one night at the Luxor and was hit by an incredible smell. Immediately walked up to the counter and asked what that smell was. The New Yorker...Corned Beef w/ thousand island dressing on a pretzel bun!!! AMAZING, I ordered it with sweet potato fried and was in heaven! Couple packets of yellow mustard and a soda and I was making a mess of my self. My friend ordered a Cobb salad and it was equally impressive. My first time staying at the Luxor, my co-worker recommended BD to me and I became hooked on it since. It's basically an "open kitchen" and you can watch the chefs make your sandwich, burger, whatever, etc. it's all fresh. If you order sweet potato fries for example, like I always do, they use fresh potatoes and dunk them specially for your order. Their Ruebens are out of this world.
