First time I tried this place. Tried to slip in a tip for a couple of beers
    Jason R.

Bartender took it upon himself to add on a $7+ tip when it was just my wife and I and we had a couple of beers. I was going to leave a good tip until I realized they tried to slip it past me. Will not go back.

Went yesterday with my daughter. I love this place for a quick affordable meal. Their loaded potatoes with birria is my jam, and she likes the chicken quesadilla. You can buy so many things from the menu and prices are so good compare to most Mexican places. Deff a great place to grab a quick good meal. All the people treat you good and they are super fast. Try their drive thru if you are in a hurry. But the place is great also to sit down and eat

This was our first time at Backyard Gilbert. We brought our visitors from Montana out for dinner and to listen to Dueling Pianos. Our food was good, and our server, Hanna, did an outstanding job in a very busy atmosphere. We loved the backyard ambiance feel. We joined the sing alongs and really enjoyed the piano music! We would recommend this location to our friends

We got in without waiting, great friendly service. I never been into a pub sports bar place with turf as their flooring so it was interesting, they allow dogs inside as well, sooo I wouldn't leave your purse or bag on floor not knowing if a dog pee'd there with turf flooring. With that said I had to sit with my hand bag the whole time dining there with no where to put it or hang in under table like some places have nowadays. They have big screens throughout making it perfect for sports for all that don't want to miss a thing while eating out with friends and/or family. Food was typical pub, decent and simple.

Such a fun spot! First time coming to this location - came here for an NFL Sunday slate of games and it was great. Such a vibe! I really liked the open concept design. There are TVs everywhere. Great music playing. Tons of seating and spacing throughout the whole place. They even have a good amount of arcade games scattered around too! It was packed for football but we found seating at the bar. Decent drink menu overall - kind of expected a wider range of draft beers compared to other places around. Food wise, it was pretty solid. Ordered the 'Merica Burger with fries. No complaints! Definitely on the pricey side though. This is a great time out and break from your typical restaurant dining experience. Definitely recommend coming to watch sports here!

This has been my second time here and it has been a good experience both times. The first time had live music and he was fantastic! This time it was a DJ before the UFC fights. The inside of this place is great and they have some arcade games. The food in the past I got their chicken tacos, potato Skins, and their Brookie. I recommend the potato skins but I wouldn't get the others again. This time, I got the Asian chicken salad and the carne asada fries. Both tasted great but I was disappointed with the size of the salad for the price, it was way too small. But the carne asada fries were amazingggg!!! That is going to be my meal moving forward next time I come in.

This is a fantastic sports bar. They allow you to make reservations on open door ( we did that for the playoffs for football which was so helpful). They sat us quickly for our reservation despite it being a packed house. They have great happy hour during the week. The crinkle fries are crispy and delicious. The pizza and beer were also refreshing and hit the spot. They have so many TVS including some very big TVs! This bar is dog friend which I love! They have darts and games in the back and open it up to get ventilation on nice days. I wish they would bring the Sonoran white chocolate Arizona brewed beer back! That was my favorite and is hard to find on tap. Great place over all!

We had a bit of a rocky start but ended up having a really good experience at Backyard Gilbert during the UFC fights. When I called ahead to ask about reservations, I was told they weren't taken, which was fine. Based on that, we arrived around 6 PM with my husband and some family. When we checked in, however, we were asked if we had a reservation and then told it would be over an hour wait because all of the tables were reserved. That was frustrating, especially since the hostess I spoke with on the phone earlier had been rude. Thankfully, Mike the manager completely turned the night around. He listened to our situation, apologized, and explained how chaotic fight nights can be. He went above and beyond to find us a table that worked for our group, including our two young grandbabies and their mom. His customer service truly made the difference. Once seated, we had a great time watching the fights. The food was solid -- the carne asada fries are a must and loaded with toppings. We also ordered two Asian chicken salads, which were good, but the portion size felt small for the price at $17 each. Overall, the experience had its bumps, but great management, good food, and a fun atmosphere earned Backyard Gilbert a solid 4 stars. Mike deserves a shoutout for saving the night

I'll admit--I was a little sad to see Sandbar go, but I have to say, Backyard is a solid replacement. The updates to the interior are great--it still keeps that fun, social vibe but with a fresh new look that really works. I came with a very large group for Sunday brunch, so I'll give the staff some grace. The service was a bit scattered with confusion over who ordered what and when, but given the crowd and timing, it wasn't a dealbreaker. I was a little hesitant to check it out at first after reading mixed Yelp reviews about the food quality, but I'm glad I gave it a shot. What's brunch without a cocktail? I ordered the Espresso Martini (Ketel One vodka, simple syrup, Kahlua, and espresso)--it was good, though definitely leaned on the vodka-heavy side. My boyfriend had the Tea Time (Crown Royal Peach Whiskey, agave nectar, lemon juice, lemonade, and unsweetened tea), and it was so refreshing--definitely worth trying. For my entree, I went with the Chicken & Waffles topped with a sunny-side-up egg, hot sauce, and maple syrup. The waffle was perfectly golden, the chicken tenders crispy and flavorful, and the hot sauce gave it just the right kick. Honestly, a great plate. I'd definitely come back to try more off the brunch menu--or even swing by on a Friday night for drinks and vibes. A nice rebrand that still holds its own in the Gilbert scene.

    Cheers.

Did you know that Legends Sports Bar in Long Beach, California, is widely considered the first modern sports bar, opening in 1979? The Backyard is the kind of place that makes you want to stay awhile. Between the all TVs, a breezy outdoor patio with a ping pong table and cornhole boards, and live music that actually sounds good (not too loud, not too mellow), it's a top-tier spot to catch a game or hang out with friends. The menu harbors classic American bar food done right. Our table of five leaned into the basics of pizza, nachos, ribes, and some cold drinks. Everything hit the spot, crispy where it should be, cheesy where it mattered. Not mind-blowing, but totally satisfying for sports bar fare. Now, the only reason this isn't a five-star rave is the hiccup with service. One of our friends never got their pizza. The staff checked in a couple of times, apologizing and assuring us it was on its way, but sadly, that pizza didn't arrive until the end of the meal. What was supposed to be a part of my friend's meal, he had to have it boxed and took it home. 3.5 stars but I'll round up. The overall experience was a win. Great energy, solid food, and a place we'd absolutely come back to if we want to catch a game on TV.

Came by for HH and found a great place: , friendly service and attentive wait staff! Beer was very good as were appetizers Ambiance: interesting as astro turf inside with picnic tables and roll up garage doors ( when the weather permits). Asked the gal if they allow dogs since they had astroturf and YES, but they also have a doggy menu!!!!! We returned later for Trivia at the bar and had a great time! Next time, I'll bring the pup!!

If you're looking for a great screen experience and a place to watch "the game"...this is it! I'd give them 5 stars on screens. But the service was bare bones and the food was quite expensive. When we arrived we waited for a while for a hostess. When I requested we be placed where we could watch the game she sat us directly under the large screens despite several (at least 10) other tables all around us open. The server worked hard and she was very sweet but she had very little help. She never filled our waters and rarely checked in with us. We bought nachos, a burger, and 3 drinks and spent $70 (before tip). This seemed really high for pretty basic bar food. I will say, the burger was good! The carne asada nachos weren't worth $22. So, for the price..I'd pass. For the screens to watch a game..great option. (I recommend asking for a high top table if there to watch a game.)

I kicked off our 90-minute experience with the Blackberry Yuzu Margarita, and it was the perfect balance of crisp, sweet, and tart. I wrapped things up with the Macadamia Nut Piña Colada which, fittingly for being "aboard" a pirate ship, was delightfully rum-forward without being overly sweet. In between cocktails, we shared a couple of snacks that were such a welcome addition -- something you sadly don't always find at local speakeasies! The service was top-notch thanks to our bartender Rocco, whose knowledge and attention to detail made the experience even more fun. Between the creative cocktails, immersive vibe, and fantastic hospitality, Undertow is easily one of the coolest spots around!

Of course, this place is known for its cocktails, so naturally they should be great--but trust me, I've been to several cocktail-only establishments that were lackluster. Absolutely NOT the case here. You could literally put all the pages of the menu on a wall, throw a dart, and whatever you hit would be delicious and interesting in its own right. The place is a little small, but honestly, that's what I love about it. It feels cozy in all the right ways. It's also very relaxing, floating along the sea with some delightful surprises here and there. We ordered several drinks, but one that's not on the menu (and they do make it) is the Pearl Diver, which is magnificent here. The mixologists and servers are all amazing and should be proud of themselves for bringing such an experience to Gilbert.

She loves Alice in Wonderland. She was mistaken and thought it said Java not Kava. She thought Java Kava was a coffee lol So to my surprise when I get there, Kava is a dirt water that is very, very strong and pungent and not my cup of tea lol But besides that, this place is so hip and cool. The bartender was very, very informative and he let us know that they will give you your first dose of Kava for free to try it. I could not choke all of it down. My friend was a trooper goddess, and she choked the whole thing. I was so impressed by her I am very sensitive to things. So even though I did not enjoy the Kava, it is not my jam. The servers are robotic and will ask you every single time if this your "first time dining with us". Never do the hosts or hostess acknowledge "welcome back". When we take our tables there's always a receipt on our table and I turn it over and it says "big spender" on it. We do order a good amount and always the best stuff. But to put this receipt on your table for us to see is beyond cringe, and on top of it their servers will pick it up and ask if I've been there before. 50 times I'm guessing we've visited in the last year or so. Countless reservations under my name and other friends and bar visits for happy hour. Today was my wife's 38th birthday and we came to Buck and rider to enjoy it with our three boys. For the first time in our couple years coming they id'd my wife for her drink she ordered. She didn't bring her ID. The server got the gm and she denied us even seeing our history of how many times we've frequented the establishment. She didn't care that it was her bday or that we had a picture of her ID she was cold, dismissive and short. Nothing you expect of a place that should welcome us with open arms, remember us and make our experiences there memorable. It's a judgement call for them. Deny our best customers who dine here twice a month or more, who have three boys and take her ID picture or lose a good customer. Common sense and standard judgement have been completely lost

I really wish it were easier to find breakfast joints with organic coffee but it can be a bit difficult to find in certain areas, such as the east valley area. This was one of a couple options I could find. We attempted to dine here for dinner on a previous occasion but it was a long wait at that time so we went elsewhere. This time we showed up around 10:15am on a Saturday in June, and we were quoted 90 minutes for two people. Fortunately there was room at the bar, so we were seated immediately. The decor is very clean and subtlety higher end. It is an open floor plan with the bar towards the front door, which is also accessible from the large patio (in cooler weather times) that has mister fans and a lot of shade. They have one of the nicest and cleanest restrooms in the valley, with complementary sea salt scrub and high end paper napkins. They also have a couple luxurious event spaces, one of which was hosting an engagement party. My mom tried a non alcoholic drink special with decaffeinated tea and fresh juices, with a little flower on top. She also tried the avocado toast. She enjoyed both but she said the avocado toast was a little spicy, albeit she has an extremely low tolerance for spice. I opted for the breakfast sandwich and black coffee. The coffee came in a neat mug with an oversized handle that was very ergonomic. It was good, but slightly watery. Was at least comforting to know it wasn't laced with tons of pesticides like most restaurants' coffee. The egg, bacon and avocado sandwich was delicious. The egg and bacon were cooked perfectly, and the bread was nice and soft but not too dry. The greens on the side were fresh with a nice vinaigrette. The service was excellent, all of the staff were friendly and seemed to be happy to be there. All in all I was impressed with this place. The only thing I wish they had on their brunch menu was an omelette, because this is first place I have been in a very long time that isn't a fine dining establishment, where they actually know how to cook eggs properly. They were fluffy, moist, and light. I don't bring this up as a brag, but I attended culinary school and learned proper scrambled egg (French style) technique years ago. This is the first place I've been in a long time that gives my eggs a run for their money.

I had ice tea and wife ordered the blood orange jenny drink; both were great and refreshing! I also ordered a loaf of their warmed sourdough and butter to share with the table. Almost like being in San Francisco! For dinner we decided to share a couple of things; the crab cakes, which comes with fried avocado and some of the best aioli for dipping. The cakes themselves are big and full of crab with just the right amount of filling to create a decadent and moist cake! We also shared the seared jumbo scallops...High Tides knows how to cook scallops to the best! So yummy and tender and perfectly cooked with that crispy outer and the soft, creamy inside. We also shared a Caesar salad and one of the things we love about this place...ask and you can get some fresh anchovy on the side to add to the salad. Wife always asks for more lemon as well to drizzle over the salad. Overall a fantastic dinner for us and everyone with us!
