I decided to choose Bado's for my birthday dinner this year. I had never been here before but I had always heard good things. Our waitress was very nice and helpful and she gave us great tips on what to order. It wasn't very busy for a Saturday night but I like how that gave it a more intimate feel. The place is very small so you are definitely going to want to make a reservation. They are also BYOB and charge a corking fee so be aware of that. Now for the food. Being a Cucina all the plates are smaller so you can taste more and share with others. First we got the fondue. It was very good. Now as big as I had expected for an appetizer but I enjoyed it. We finished it very quickly. Next I got the salmon. Even though this is considered a small plate, it definitely filled me up. I thought it had so much flavor and I was very impressed. For dessert I got the bread pudding. It was huge. I couldn't finish it on my own because of how sweet it was but it was great too. I would like to come back here again but it is a hike if you don't live in the area.

Plated sex, aka mushroom truffle flat bread.

This restaurant was another Groupon discovery, but as soon as I mentioned I had dinner plans at Bado's Cucina, all of my friends were like, "I love that place!" I thought I was buying a Groupon for Bado's Pizza, but as I live for Italian food, I wasn't too disappointed when I realized it wasn't the same thing. After looking at their website I felt like they should rename the restaurant: Bado's: You're Not Eating Anything Here wo a Reservation. I called on a Wednesday and had no problem making a Friday reservation, but when we were there every table was full. This restaurant is small, you need to book a table ahead of time. It's a lovely restaurant, and I loved the big wood oven grill in the center of the room--and props to any restaurant with an open kitchen. Bado's is also BYOB with a minimal corkage fee. When we were there, we realized we forgot our wine. The table next to us overheard me and gave us half a bottle of their wine. ITS OFFICIAL: BADOS HAS THE COOLEST CLIENTELE EVER. I DARE you to come up with a better fellow patron story than mine, as mine has free wine. Okay...so the food. Everything is served tapas style which I didnt like bc Italian food should be family style, in my opinion. I've never been led astray by a chefs tasting menu, so when the waiter suggested it, we went for it. We had mushroom truffle flatbread which was so good I didnt want to split it with my friend, but he made me share :( , and we ended up ordering a second one. Its like sex in your mouth, in a way you'd like. Just trust me. Then we had crab cakes which were very good. And salmon, which was very good but kind of unremarkable. Then we had banana pepper ravioli and manicotti, which were excellent, however the cheese filling was kind of gritty and not smooth and creamy which is how I like it. The salad came last. Then, the bill came, and it was around $120 pre tip. Here's my problem with Bado's: the food was good, really good -- but it's NOT as good as the food at, say, Centro Anni. I'll gladly fork over $100+ there. Bado's is more on par w Picolo Forno or Il Pizaiolo, and those restaurants are much less expensive. I enjoyed my excellent food but I've had equal food for less money. However, I'll be back for sure. I feel like it was a major FAIL that we did not try the pizza. The pizzas looked AMAZING. Try this place but make sure you're not buying.

Lunch Potion Baked Ziti - $9

~ Gist ~ Okay italian joint w/ someunique flavors, small Lunch portions depending on what you get ~ Food ~ * Lunch menu - They have a small lunch menu w/ $5 options such as half a panini & soup; chicken wrap, and some selected pizza * Chicken Wrap......$5 Description: Oven roasted w/ some meditarrianish seasoning, cherry tomatoes & a few mixed greens & cranberries - So if you think about a wrap..even a Subway wrap for $5 you think at least 6 " right? tightly wrapped w/ if not a lot of chicken at least enuf to make it have a diameter of what 2-3" maybe? - So you can understand my somewhat surprise when I got a wrap that was more like a pita pocket fold w/ 5 pieces of cut chicken & very little filling - So..the taste was good w/ their side sauce & the cranberries made it interesting - However you just feel a bit jip'd you know? But on the other hand it was $5 * Baked Ziti...... $9 (lunch special) - It is just cheese & pasta & sauce baked in an iron black dish in their wood fire oven - Now as a side note, according to mr. italian BF baked ziti is suppose to have a nice browned crust of cheese on the top - And when the dish came it was small...and it looked half filled. Like they didn't fill the dish with the pasta/sauce all to the top. - However, taste was good..just wished there was more Service - the lady was nice and service was good. Conclusion - Would go maybe for dinner to try more of their mainstream items. Saw the pizza and it looked not bad..not sure if it was the lunch portion or not thou. But lunch...don't think would go back for that as it seemed a bit small even if the taste was pretty ok

Pumpkin tiramisu...one word...YUMMY!!!!

I LOVE Bado's! When the wife and I get a chance for a date night, we always eat here. BYOB...Bado's brings the wood-fired goodness.

What's the corking fee? Also their website is set up in courses, is that how you order at the restaurant?

I believe the corking fee was about $5 or maybe a little higher. We didn't bring alcohol though. It is set up in courses, but you can order how ever way you want (i.e. order just apps, order entrée and then app, etc).

Let's eat together & celebrate my MIL's birthday…read more A little slice of Italy in McMurray South Hills of Pittsburgh. Craft cocktails (OMG...the SPRITZ options) & artisan wines meet an ever-changing Italian menu, all served in an effortlessly upscale setting. Perfect for date night, birthdays, or any special occasion. Pro tip: If you're celebrating, let them know!!! They'll add the guest of honor's name to the menu and the chalkboard above the kitchen. It is such a thoughtful, personal touch. Wine pick: a bottle of Zenato Valpolicella Ripassa (a must if you love red) What I ordered: smoked provolone, casa salad, cacio e pepe, chicken piccata Finished with a birthday chocolate cake...absolutely delicious Save this spot for your next celebration! Enjoy

3.5 stars. Long, detailed review... Arlecchino Ristorante is a casual-elegant Italian restaurant…read morethat is uniquely inside a one-room schoolhouse that was built in 1907. This restaurant is open for dinner and catering for dining in and takeout. It has many of the same menu items as its excellent sister restaurant Alla Famiglia. Each meal includes bread and oil, optional appetizers (e.g., meatball and mussels diavolo), a first course of salad and pasta, the chosen main course (e.g., chicken marsala, cacciatore, veal chop, and filet mignon), and then if desired dessert. Alcoholic beverages (e.g., cocktails, wines, and beers) are also available. For my husband's and my wedding anniversary, I made a reservation for Arlecchino through OpenTable. We arrived shortly after they opened for the day. Our first impressions: Valet was required for our vehicle. We felt interested in seeing the exterior and remodeled interior of the schoolhouse. Most of the restaurant was empty then, but the seating hostess took us to the worst table--the smallest table inches from the front door. I requested a different table, and she then gave us a much better one. OpenTable had said that the dress code was business casual, but other customers wore casual clothes, and a hostess wore shorts and a baggy sweatshirt hoodie. Our names were written on a chalkboard above the kitchen and on my menu but not my husband's menu. Our waiter provided timely service and spoke courteously with us. (If you are wondering how to pronounce the restaurant's name, he told me something like are-lee-kee-no or our-lee-key-no.) Here are my ratings for what my husband and I ate: Autumn Spritz - 4 stars - This spritz contained apple cider, Marie Brizard Apry, prosecco, and soda, and I liked its flavors. Smoked Provolone - 2 stars - Smoked provolone was topped with black truffles and arugula. Neither my husband nor I liked this appetizer. I took two bites, and he tried to eat half. Casa Salad - 4.5 stars - This salad consisted of mixed greens, roasted peppers, raisins, walnuts, olives, gorgonzola, and slightly too much vinaigrette. Caesar Salad - 4.5 stars - My husband ate this salad, and he said that it was his favorite food in the entire meal. Cavatappi Alla Vodka - 4 stars - My husband ate this pasta, and I took one bite, and I thought that it tasted good. Cacio E Pepe - 4 stars - Months ago at Alla Famiglia, we loved the locatelli romano cheese wheel at the tableside, so we felt excited to try it at Arlecchino. The waiter definitely mixed the linguini, cream, oil, and pepper in the cheese wheel. This cacio e pepe tasted good but not as great as what we remember from Alla Famiglia. Halibut - 3.5 stars - My main course was this special menu item. The halibut tasted bland but was served with black-tiger shrimp, carrots, tomatoes, zucchini, cauliflower, and butternut squash that added some nice flavors. I did not know the price for this fish until I saw the bill, and it was $72. Veal monzu - 4 stars - The veal was nicely breaded and fried and topped with mozzarella, jumbo lump blue crab, pine nuts, and lemon butter. My husband ate it, and my one taste-test bite indicated that it was flavorful. My husband was not interested in trying dessert, so we skipped it. Our total bill was $178 plus tax, tip, and a credit-card surcharge. Comparatively, I think that Alla Famiglia has significantly better food, but Arlecchino is worth a try.

We were seated right away and drink orders taken immediately. Erin, our wonderful server, came to welcome us and provide menus. She was so friendly and kind! I had peeked at the menu ahead of time and knew what I wanted to order. We shared a zucchini planks appetizer-they were huge, hot and crispy- the marinara was so good I could have eaten a bowl of it with a spoon! I had the Spinach Salad-I hadn't had one in ages and it was delicious. The hot bacon dressing really made the dish. My niece had Chicken Parm with spaghetti- it was a huge portion and enough for two meals. I ordered a steak hoagie and a quart of wedding soup to take home. There's no scrimping on the amount of meat in the hoagie and the wedding soup is full of shredded chicken. We enjoyed chatting and catching up in the cosy dining room, tunes from the past playing in the background. It made for a wonderful afternoon of great food and fun. I can't wait to go back and have more of that delicious marinara!!

I had a reservation, which could be made only over the phone, but upon my arrival, many tables were available. The seating hostess and the waiter served us well. The menu listed starters (e.g., artichoke-crab dip and provolone wheel), soups, salads, entrees (e.g., pork chop, beef brisket, chicken-sausage penne, and shrimp scampi), seafoods (e.g., ahi yellowtail tuna, salmon, sea bass, trout, and scallops), sandwiches, desserts, alcoholic beverages, etcetera. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Bread with oil - 4 stars - This free bread was room temperature so could have been warmer, but it did taste good. Crab cake - 4.5 stars - Many people online had recommended this crab cake. I ate this crab cake as an appetizer, but it is also available as a main course. The crab cake was a medium size, and it contained a good amount of crab meat. Swordfish - 3.5 stars - The waiter recommended this fish, and I forgot that it is not one of my favorites. It came with an almond-banana crust. I could taste the almonds but not so much the banana. My sides were a cauliflower mix and a house salad. Filet mignon - 4 stars - My husband ordered this steak mid-rare. It had some red and pink but was not juicy. It did taste very good. My husband chose sides of a baked potato and a house salad, which tasted as expected. Pecan Ball - 4.5 stars - This dessert was ice cream covered in pecans, whipped cream, and a cherry. The total price for the four foods and one iced tea was $99 plus tax and a tip.

So creamy and flavorful. I am super picky with my Crab Dips but this was spot on delicious! For dinner I ordered the Brisket- you get 2 sides with it and I got a salad and a baked potato.
