The ladies there are nice but there was one big issue. In the process of cutting and wrapping my sandwiches, they smashed them completely. I grew up in Pacific Grove and always LOVED the Bagel Bakery! However, recently when I was home visiting my parents I went to the one on Forest and it was a terrible experience. The employees are rude and extremely slow. They were making people's bagels but didn't once stop to say, "I will be with you in a moment" to us in line. They at one point actually were grabbing a bagel at the counter and made eye contact with me, and didn't say a word or even smile! They just let us customers in line stand there for 10-15 minutes without acknowledging us AT ALL. And then when we didn't tip them (for the terrible service!) they gave us a dirty look! read more

This is my favorite bagel place ever (and I'm not being biased because I used to work there). Everything is prepared fresh. Service is almost always fast and friendly. The jalapeno cheddar bagels with a Kupperman with Turkey bacon is amazing, or try a chocolate bagel with strawberry cream cheese. They have every option here for every type of person. I am not a huge bagel fan, but this place has so much more than just bagels! Tons of sandwich options, all looked so good it was hard to decide. I settled on a chicken avocado sandwich and was not once disappointed! Very large portions and sooo tasty! I was licking my fingers after the last crumb. We are both here and at bagel kitchen. Both have bagels. The bagel bakery had more history, I've been going since the 80s. The newest location is more of the same. Cheap good bagels. Compared with bagel kitchen the service was much faster but the ambiance was clearly not a priority. You can fill your own coffee and I made the mistake of getting the light roast since in smaller letters next to the type it said vanilla. Oh well. read more

Restroom wasn't stocked and didn't even have soap to wash your hands. There was a bottle of hand sanitizer which is not a substitute for hand soap. The employees are using this restroom and they are not able to properly wash their in accordance to the CA health code. Restrooms are a first impression. read more

The owner and ladies who work at this Bagel Bakery are so super nice! They make my day. I only come here to get my Vegetarian bagel combo right after yoga (Wholewheat, tomato, sprouts, avocado). I remember when the Bagel Bakery first opened, decades ago. It's still pretty much the same, (though the bagels seem smaller). I still love the "Kuperman" of Monterey Jack Cheese, tomato and sprouts. I order that when I'm wanting to detox from a carnivorous week of meat orgies. For less than $5.00 I can enjoy a bagel sandwich, and playing scrabble on my iPhone with free Wi-Fi. Sweet! read more

Customer service was not so good and they couldn't make the boba I wanted even tho it was on the menu and they had all the ingredients available. They couldn't give me a clear answer why. Fantastic bagel joint in P.G. whether you want just a straight-up plain bagel with crunchy peanut butter or maybe a poppy seed with their decadent honey butter spread or even maybe for lunch for some turkey-cranberry-bagel concoction of your creation or...if you really feel like clogging the ol' arteries (and if they haven't sold out of em' for the day) their Bagel Dogs...yum! Their cup o' joe ain't bad either. What would keep me from rating it 5 stars then if I love it so much? Well, more of a personal complaint in that both me and my wife lament that they stopped making Peach Wraps in the mornings. We used to love those for a sweet morning treat! We are locals at this bagel shop and they still treat us like tourists. I'd say some weeks we go 4 out of 7 days. We've stopped going so much since the service is getting SLOWER and SLOWER everytime. Great variety of bagels (love the cheddar cheese!), toppings and coffee selections. The half dozen times I've gone, the staff has been very friendly and I've come away satisfied. This location is much farther away for me than the Carmel Crossroads location, but the selection and atmosphere are sooooo much better at the Pacific Grove location. I haven't been to any of the other Bagel Bakeries on the peninsula. I really enjoy this joint, their sandwiches really hit the spot. I somehow always get the turkey and avocado on a sesame seed bagel. Their bagels alone are delicious, even the day old bagels. I try to get in when it's not lunch time to avoid the crowds. If you've never been it's a little confusing on where the line starts, just ask someone even the customers are friendly. Again, I've never eaten at the other places, but I'm sure the other places are similar. I just like Pacific Grove better. Literally up the hill from the aquarium. read more

The bagels are terrific, and the early opening is nice for working people on their way to work. An earlier reviewer said they had fresh squeezed orange juice. If that was true in August, it is no longer the case in November. They sell Odwalla, which is flash pasteurized. read more

Went in for the Grand Opening today (2/17/2017).. The current storm took out the power but, they did everything possible to serve the public.. Gave out free bagels with cream cheese to everyone who came in.. Because of the power outage they couldn't make coffee or toast the bagels but, they did the best they could..
