    Darling town.

We saw a big line so turned around to buy 2 bagels. Yikes. To be fair, we are in Maine, not NYC. But the texture all wrong. No crust, no chewyness, no flavor. I had a sesame toasted with cream cheese. Ate half. My husband had a plain with peanut butter. Ate half. Pretty much the worst I've ever had. They are not boiling them first? Just like bland bread in bagel shape. It's too bad. Service and ambiance great. Product not so much.

Perfect little local spot to grab a breakfast sandwich or lunch! They have different drink options too and the staff are hardworking and hustle!

We stopped at The Bagel Basket after taking a yoga class for coffee and a bagel. The Bagels were fantastic! I got an everything bagel with chive cream cheese. It was toasted perfectly and generously smeared with the cream cheese. Not too much but not chintzy either. Just the right amount. Coffee as hot and fresh. Cashier was very friendly and helpful. The seating area is neat and clean.

Very average bagels. Fine if you're in the area, but it's not worth driving out of your way for. The cream cheese I ordered was bland - the chive flavor was not noticeable and the bacon flavor even less so. The jalapeños cheddar bagel was soft and had a decent chew. But again. Bland.

Every time I come down to York Beach, this is my favorite breakfast stop! If I lived down here, I'd go broke on their breakfast. I have had jalapenos, blueberry, and everything. My wife had onion. My kids had the rainbow (plain) and regular plain bagels. We were all extremely satisfied. The customer service is top notch. The other patrons were also super nice!

Great bagels, toasted just the way you ask; with HOT coffee and good service. This is a great stop for a bagel and more.

These bagels aren't even made in house. They get then from Boston each morning. The coffee isn't fresh. Big bummer

Just sit and enjoy the view. Yes you are in the street to occasionally a big truck goes by but with the right company who cares. You see the ocean and smell the salt air. Menu is good. Vegan options and of course seafood. It's up there on price both worth it. Indoor and outdoor seating and I believe they bought the building next door with a balcony area but not 100% sure. The food was great and a lot on the plate. The tacos only come with tacos. No fries or rice or side something. Was a bit disappointed but in the end it was ok. Large portions of fish and chips. And did I mention the view. Street parking is available but can be a challenge. Do you know how to parallel park? You might need to park down the road a bit and walk but you can't go wrong with a walk on the beach before or after your meal.

The same food and drink is served there, but you'll need to communicate that with the host at the restaurant (there was some pushback from the rooftop bar staff when we came about them not being able to seat us because the host needed to make that decision and then tell them; whereas the host at the restaurant told us to just go on over). + The drink I had was good: I got a blackberry sour that was refreshing. If we had had more time, I would have also tried the painkillah' with a rum floater. And, honestly, the mocktails sounded great too! Also, their glassware is lovvvveeellly, make sure you pay attention to that! + They've got vegan options: While we didn't order food, I would have loved to have tried the vegan "crabby" cakes with cilantro aioli! -/+ The views are not unbroken: while you'll be able to take in panoramic views of the ocean, they're disrupted by an abundance of black power lines (this is not true if you're sitting in the restaurant, but you will have loads of people lingering on the sidewalk next to you waiting to be seated). Expect it to be VERY busy in the summer! I see myself returning here when it's a wee bit quieter.

We celebrated our 12 year wedding anniversary while touring New England…read more We actually just happened upon this place because the first restaurant that we went to, across the street, was out of a couple of dishes that my husband wanted. Well, I'm happy that they were because dinner here was SOOOO good! The bartender helped us choose a bottle of champagne to start. We shared everything. One of each of the deviled eggs each. The maple cranberry was interesting. The sour cream chive one was to die for! The ricotta gnocchi was elegant and fluffy. The sauce made it over the top. The ribs were good, but I'm a Midwest girl. They just don't compare to back home. The clam linguine was seasoned perfectly. It was quite filling. We ended with the Apple Olive Oil cake with maple ice cream. The cake itself was quite dense and dry. The ice cream helped. I would not order this dessert again. Service was quite SLOWWWW, and for no reason as they weren't very busy while we were there. There were long gaps between courses and then once we were finished we kind of just sat there for a while. The food was worth it but something is not running efficiently and could be improved. Still giving 5 starts because it was so good and everyone was welcoming.

We frequently pass through Kittery, often stopping at Kittery Trading Post and Bob's Clam Hut, but…read moreon this trip we ventured off of Rt. 1 and discovered a little hidden gem...The Black Birch. This quaint gastropub doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside, this seems like a place where locals are regulars and tourists are happy to get a table at this "no reservations" joint. It's dark inside (no photos) and a little cramped. The bartenders are serving double duty mixing and pouring drinks while also playing DJ and spinning vinyl records. And it felt like everyone inside was exactly where they wanted to be at the moment...enjoying each other's company and sharing drinks and food. The menu is about the size you would expect from a small kitchen - a fair number of appetizer dishes meant for sharing, and a handful of entrees, ranging from casual to a bit more refined. The grilled cheese and tomato soup ($19) was made with a hearty artisan bread that hit the spot on a chilly evening. Similarly, the coq au vin ($26) was classic comfort food, with perfectly cooked smashed fingerling potatoes surrounded by a rich, decadent reduction sauce smothering meaty mushrooms and soft pearl onions. Note, the coq au vin did take a long time to prepare, so not the dish to order if you're in a hurry. A couple of not-too-sweet lemon ricotta donuts (with chocolate sauce) was a great way to end the meal.
