MY GOD. I've never written a review till I came here. I waited in a huge line, when it was finally my turn to order I was greeted very rudely, "what do you want" and when I asked if they had something both workers, one who I found out was the manger, laughed at me and proceeded to tell me there was a menu above my head. I ordered an egg sandwich. I found out that they MICROWAVE their eggs!!!!(which tasted like rubber!) and the bagels, which I was expecting to be the highlight of the establishment since it's part of the name, ARE NOT MADE FRESH AT ALL, they are frozen and then baked off and kept sitting for 2 days!!! For the price I paid, the customer service I received, & and the quality of the food made my experience overwhelmingly DISAPPOINTING. You would think being in the food industry those are the trifecta you would push for success. But bagel basket fails at all points of the industry and I can't believe people wait in this huge line everyday & pay the price charged for such a RIDICULOUS experience. This truly is the worst. In Maine it's a challenge to find a decent bagel shop with fresh bagels that are tasty. Took a chance after sunrise to check out this shop - and was pleasantly surprised! Good, hot bagels ... nice selection and the egg/sausage bagel sandwich was hot and delicious! read more

Stopped here on a sunny, warm Sunday afternoon in November. There were loads of people sitting outside on the picnic tables and Adirondack chairs in front soaking up the unusual weather and enjoying a bite to eat. The space - which is all wooden, rustic, and full of warm tones (it feels like it should be located directly on a beach) - is charming though the lay-out is very peculiarly, so I can understand how people might be uncomfortable if they had to wait in line. Fortunately for us, we were the only ones when we came. We ordered two iced coffees - and much to our delight, there was a bigger option than just large AND they had soy milk AND the total was under five bucks. This doesn't happen in Portland, so we couldn't have been happier. Also, the coffee was darn good, too (and, no, I didn't find it weak - we drink our coffee bold and strong, and this hit the spot for us!). On the opposite hand, I admit, the service was only so-so - the girl serving us (while nice enough) really didn't seem like she wanted to be there. I can't say I blame her, again it was like 75 degrees out in November. Vitamin D calls us all, folks, especially when Winter Is Coming. If we hadn't have packed bagels for lunch (seriously, we did), we would have absolutely gotten them from here because they looked delicious. And the options were plentiful even during the late afternoon (don't you hate it when places run out? I get it, but it's frustrating): french toast, multigrain, onion, garlic, pumpernickel, asiago, wildberry, etc. Also I'm a sucker for fun cream cheese options, of which they also had: bacon and chive (together), walnut raisin, veggie, and even boursin. So--This is in a great location and has lovely outside seating. But it's a bagel place and it's bagels are a bit dry and a bit boring. What you do is bagels so, you know, shouldn't they be good? Stopped in for coffee & bagels. I can be picky with bagels and these were good. I got the everything with chive cream cheese and the fiancé went with jalapeño cheddar bagel with plain cc. Both thoroughly enjoyed & will be back. It's nice to have a quick inexpensive option for breakfast while on vacation. Well this was disappointing. Should have listened to the reviews but my son wanted a bagel. Took both kids and none of us were impressed. Bagels are huge and the staff was very nice but the food quality was not great for a mom and pop type store. The worst part was my egg sandwich. They use a microwave to cook the egg??? Maybe some people like that, but it was not my idea of a good sandwich. Asked a bacon egg and cheese, but it had only one strip of undercooked bacon. After Labor Day, you'd expect local businesses to be a little chiller and more friendly. Why, perhaps --even-- less surly at a minimum? Not here! The couple behind the counter kept a chilly eye on the few folks in the place. Was told the price for the cup of coffee in our hand as approached the gentleman behind the register. Wasn't asked if we wanted anything else. It was definitely one of the top 20 awkward exchanges in my life. I'll live, though! The only thing better than really fresh bagels and hot coffee, is really fresh bagels and hot coffee so close to a wonderful beach setting. This is just one of those little, local shops that goes above and beyond by putting together consistently delicious food. I always feel comfortable taking family and friends here who visit us and want to see the ocean. Of course we are hungry on the way to the ocean! I particularly love the bagel sandwiches, especially the veggie. My husband likes the egg sandwiches. My kids prefer a bagel with cream cheese. The wide variety of drinks is also appreciated. And the staff has always been smiling, literally every time I have ever come in! What more can you ask? read more

Today was my first time trying Bagel Basket. I had 2 eggs and cheese on an english muffin. I enjoyed it. It was not greasy at all, eggs were scrambled. My fiancé had 2 eggs with bacon on a bagel. The inside is small, but they have picnic tables and patio chairs on the outside to sit. Cute place, that hits the spot. read more

Looking at some of the positive reviews on here, maybe I was there on an off-day because what I received was unarguably the worst bagel sandwich I've ever, ever had. Ever. The sesame bagel tasted like I was chewing on styrofoam. I don't even want to speculate as to what the "eggs" in the #4 egg, bacon & cheese were actually made from, but it did not taste like any actual eggs were present. I've eaten plenty of Dunkin' Donuts "egg" sandwiches in my day so I'm very familiar with that fake microwave egg taste and this was worse. And finally, the cheese wasn't even melted. Just a cold slice of cheese thrown on top, as if it were an afterthought. I got my bagel to-go for the drive home so I didn't have an opportunity to voice my complaints directly to the staff. I don't see myself returning to give Bagel Basket a second try. Especially after having discovered St. Joe's Coffee only a few minutes down the road, a MUCH better option for breakfast. Very unimpressed. Coming from an area rich in bagel store options, my expectations were high and I was let down. They serve a very bready, dry bagel. I just did a dozen assorted with some veggie cream cheese in a tub. One positive, the cream cheese was pretty good, up there with many bagel shops in my area serving home-made cream cheese options. This place has a great feel to it. There are Adirondack chairs outside to sit in and eat your bagels, a great variety of clearly baked every morning bagels, and everything I tried there was superb. I would kill for a place like this in Boston where I live, Dunkin Donuts can't hold a candle to it and the prices for their breakfast sandwiches are VERY reasonable (all under 4 dollars no matter what you get). We were looking for an espresso and saw this charming place. It was decorated so pretty out front with all the fall decorations! The inside was charming, and warm, and had a great vibe to it. You order at a counter, then take your drink/food into a dining area with cool, eclectic furniture (I loved the hardwood floors). My friend had the espresso, and I had a hot chocolate. Both were very good. We also had a delicious muffin. Had I been here longer, I would have gone back for a real lunch. Good service, too. read more

This place gets very crowded, but they serve up some tasty bagels and sandwiches, and have a nice selection of Green Mountain coffees. As another reviewer mentioned, it would be great if they could add at least one gluten-free bread item (bagel, English muffin, roll, etc.) as well as a dairy free cream cheese and/or butter. This place is insane. Young folks who work here have no idea about any Ingredients. My son can't have any dairy and sometimes bagels are covered with butter or some flavors have some kind of dairy. Went here for breakfast. Very busy but wait was reasonable. Ordered two bacon, egg, and cheese, one on Asiago and one on sesame seed bagel. Sesame bagel was good; the Asiago was plain. Sandwiches also had hardly any bacon. Also ordered 2 iced coffees which were good- add your own cream and sugar. My sister ordered a bagel combo #6 which isn't even on the menu it has #1-5 & then #7. She told the cashier bagel w/ egg, sausage & no cheese, the cashier repeated it back. When we got the order it wasn't what she ordered & we tried to replace it & they wouldn't, they charged us for a new one. Being in the service industry myself, which is closed, not only would I fix the order free of charge but I would be grateful people were coming to my establishment & that I had income coming in. We were on our bikes and stopped in for lunch. We ordered bowls of haddock chowder. The staff was not overly friendly. It came out warm and one bowl had lots of fish while the other had a couple chunks of potato. While they stated that WiFi was available, we could not connect and no one seemed interested in helping us. Also, if a café is going to feature coffee, it should serve good coffee. Went here for the first time after going by it plenty of times and seeing lines and lots of people. Sadly, we were a bit disappointed though. The bagels were all fine, as was the cream cheese, but it seemed a bit pricey. On top of that they don't accept credit cards and they don't clearly list their prices for bagels and tubs of cream cheese, which makes it difficult to figure out how far your cash will take you. We only had a $20 on us and after placing our order had to put some things back because we had basically just been guessing what everything cost, and underestimated the prices. read more
