Been coming to bagel boy for sometime now been to 3 locations. Each store is clean, with a great selection of bagels, sandwiches , spreads and coffee and drinks. Unfortunately i had an unpleasant experience with cashier/ or manager i would say not sure his position. Came in 2 days in a row and ordered egg n cheese salt pepper ketchup and another 3 sandwiches. Both times i was charged extra for an egg. Brought this issue up to person behind counter started to embarrass me over the $1 charge and says in a rude manner do you want your dollar back. I simply requested not to let it happen again. My problem was instead of acknowledging an issue here and being courteous . Staff member was unprofessional with me . As a business owner myself with 10 employees i dont tolerate rude behavior. Employees behavior reflects business owners decisions and themselves because an employee is hired by owner. I am not a fan. The bagels are fluffy, and lack the density of a true NYC bagel. If you want a light sandwich bun sort of bagel, this could please you. Additionally when I came there to order, in advance,for a seven dozen batch for a party, I was told that there would be no extras, or discount for the volume. I just walked out the store. I made an honest mistake of having forgotten to ask for bacon on my flavored cream cheese egg bagel, so I had returned to the store to ask if I could pay to have bacon added to my bagel. The manager-appearing figure appeared to be quite annoyed I came in with my said request. This was probably because he didn't see it as important compared to maintaining attending the morning customer traffic. Any how, he told someone still to add bacon to the bagel, but as I watched the process of the employee adding the bacon, I was utterly dumbfounded. I watched the employee put bacon onto a sheet, put the sheet with its bacon in a microwave for heating, and then put that reheated bacon in my bagel! Absolutely disgusting! What franchise uses bacon that is reheated with a microwave for their customers' bagels! read more

The food is very good, of the highest quality. Delivery was prompt. I had asked for 6 oz. low fat vegetable cream cheese. Instead, I got 1/4 lb. vegetable tuna fish. When I called, I was told that I would receive the correct item. The item came promptly. The cheese wasn't 6 oz. but a 1/4 of a pound. Obviously, I was not going to have the delivery person come again. When I called to report this, the person answering the phone apologized and said he would be more careful the next time. Unfortunately, there will NOT be a next time for me. The bottom line is that you go there and take it out. Forget having it delivered. Anyone giving less than 5 stars is wrong. This place has the freshest and best food. It also has great service and good prices. Sure there is a line but it moves fast. The owner always has plenty of counter help. This is the only place around that always has what you want and always satisfies. It is the model of a well stocked excellent bagel store. read more

Woah. Seriously, I don't even know where to start. We got re-routed to JFK instead of BOS (long story) on our way to DCA, and we decided it would be cheaper (again, long story...) to rent a car and drive to DC from NY. One of the amazing side benefits of this situation was being able to stop and get my FIRST, real NY bagel. I'm pretty much ruined for bagels going forward from here. So much so, in fact, that I spent about 2 hours researching where to get a "real" NY bagel in CA, and found out that it's just not going to happen. I'll get kinda close (see: The Original Brooklyn Water Bagels and The Bagel Broker), but never like this. Not only did it taste amazing, the texture was unbelievable. Really interesting to experience, and after a few bites, I was hooked. I knew that there was a better way to bagel, and this has got to be it. I got a French Toast bagel with regular cream cheese, and it was awesome; my *only* critique, if anything, was that it could have used a bit more "french toast" flavor. But, I'm guessing that it's something that was intended, and so I appreciated it for what it was. My wife got some sort of other bagel (to be honest, I was so deep in the experience, I don't even remember), but with their Funfetti cream cheese, which was also awesome. They really captured the "funfetti" taste, which is hard to do, sometimes. So, that being said, this will 100% be my go-to if I ever end up back in Brooklyn. Unbelievable. Great job, guys! read more

Hands down the absolute best bagels of all time. I've been coming here for years and whatever bagel I order and regardless of the toppings, it's consistently been the best. I started eating healthy recently and have been ordering egg whites on whole wheat toasted bread with arugula and black pepper. Again, the best that I've had from anywhere. I also love their custom salads. Whether you want a bagel, coffee, salad, or sandwich, i highly recommend Bagel Boy. I've recently been ordering a 12 egg white sandwich on whole wheat bread. I hate this place. Seriously. The thought of Bagel Boy makes me angry. The food might be decent, but I'm usually so annoyed by the time I get it and wade through all of the mistakes in my order that I don't even notice. They apparently lack the ability to toast a bagel properly: a toasted bagel is either blackened on the edges and stale in the middle, or just run through the toaster long enough to make it stale but not actually brown it at all. This is about 15 bagels worth of improper toasting speaking, btw. I'm a slow learner. They feel like it's okay to substitute sizes of things on a delivery: a can of soda becomes a large bottle, small chips becomes a family size -all with the appropriate price increases. It makes for a nice surprise when lunch is suddenly $3 more than you anticipated. It definitely adds up. Same substitution policy applies on their sandwiches and the various breads they sell - if they run out of something, they will substitute, which is somewhat understandable.. But replacing an everything bagel with whole wheat? Not even in the ballpark. And if something in a delivery order is wrong? Forget about it - it's definitely the customer's fault, and you WILL get a snotty attitude from whoever picks up the phone when you call to have it corrected. We fax our TYPED order in to them, each item numbered on its own line, so there's no way to excuse this with a simple "miscommunication". Also, they will PROMISE to have an order to you by a certain time(with 2 hours notice, mind you), but generally overshoot this mark by anywhere from 15 minutes to 45. Unacceptable, when the people ordering lunch are on a tight schedule. In short, shoddy, torturous, and not worth the money. I will never get lunch from them again. read more

The only thing I miss about the hell that is living in Coney Island is Bagel Boy. My god I could eat that Heman (eggs, sausage, bacon, cheddar cheese) on onion every morning. Food here is fast and fresh and the best breakfast in the area. Bagels are a perfect balance of good flavor without being too bulky. Get a chocolate croissant to top it off - better than some fanciful French bakery. Only complaint is there's usually a line, but still worth it. Staff are friendly. There's a metered parking lot next to the building if you cannot find parking on the street. read more

What makes a great bagel? In my eyes, its the crust of the exterior, the soft yet chewy interior and a wonderful yeasty flavor. Bagel Boy bagels have all those qualities. The bagels are always ultra fresh and they always have lots of varieties: plain, sesame, egg, everything, cinnamon raisin and poppy. They have a great selection of cream cheese spreads, white fish spread is one of my favorites and its all incredibly fresh. They have a great variety of soups, a salad stations, flavored coffees, and deli meats to make a beautifully crafted cold cut sandwich. Their breakfast sandwiches are my favorite. With all that being said, its not cheap but in my opinion, if you want uncompromised quality then its worth every penny. For instance an egg bagel with scallion cc cost me three bucks and a quarter. A little steep but when I bit into the bagel, it was more than worth it. Im a customer for life. read more

I have been going to this location for years and never had any complaints. Today I went in to order lunch for my boyfriend and I, and the young man behind the counter (possibly mid 20's, white, with tattoos on his upper left arm) approached me to take my order. I said "I'm going to be ordering 2 sandwiches." and his response was "I believe that..." And then he winked at me. I ended up walking out due to how taken aback and insulted I felt. To say that remark on someone's weight is incredibly rude and insulting enough, let alone saying it while you are on the job serving a customer. I wanted to say something to the manager, but was just too upset and startled to open my mouth. I will absolutely NEVER buy anything again from Bagel Boy.
