I used to go to Bagel Boy for years and years and give them my business. Well never again. They do not accept their coupon that they have online unless its printed for a few free bagels if you buy a dozen. I said my printer didnt work and they refused to accept their online coupon. that is ridiculous !! Also when I order online and cut out the coupon from the paper or print the online one to give to them when they deliver the bagels, they refuse to accept it! Imagine losing a customer who spends $1000 a year at your establishment over having to honor a coupon for a few free bagels which cost nothing to make? I now go to Steves bagel which has excellent bagels and NO COUPON needed. You automatically get 6 free bagels with every dozen and 3 free with every 6 bagels and their bagels are amazing! I cannot believe what bad business sense Bagel Boy has, to think its more worth it to lose a customer that spends a ton of money over a few lousy bagels LOL The manager needs to go to business school and learn what good CS is. I have visited Bagel Boy several times and each time I have come away impressed with the quality of their bagels and friendliness of their staff. Usually I just pick up a pumpernickel bagel to go but yesterday I was with a friend from Scotland who ordered a whole wheat bagel with cream cheese and an ice coffee. She not only loved the bagel but said that it was one of the best tasting ice coffee's she has tasted in the States! Bagel Boys is simple, no fuss and has that old traditional Jewish deli feel without being certified kosher. That everything bagel was one of the best I've ever had and I've had my fair share of those carb loaded delicious round devils. It was available in regular or whole wheat. They even serve rainbow bagels and funfetti cream cheese which surprisingly my kiddos didn't opt for but maybe yours will. Apple cinnamon cream cheese, jalapeño, all sorts of fun ones. Unfortunately, no vegan spreads which is ok I guess, but not even hummus. Whaaaaaah! I knocked a star off for that fact. I mean, hummus is such an easy sell especially in addition to the other healthy options they offer. They have every kind of salad you can imagine...tuna, chicken, whitefish, pasta, potato, egg, and of course they offer fresh nova lox. I mean, duh. You can create your own salad with fresh veggies too. They cater and make party platters! The iced coffee was just ok, but it did the trick. I have been to the location in Bay Ridge and had a good experience. We were closer to the one in Sheepshead Bay so we paid a visit. Same set up in both stores. Come in, stand in line and look at the extensive menu and give them your order. I already knew what I wanted: scallion cream cheese with smoked salmon on a toasted everything bagel. My friend ordered a western omelette on an everything bagel. Both our bagels were barely toasted and only 4 mediocre sized pieces of smoked salmon that didn't look so fresh. The place is very spacious, with about 10 seats if you want to quickly chow down your food. The workers are very nice and efficient. Although lines may get really long, they move extremely quick. With over 10 different types of bagels and cream cheese, I just can't get enough of it. I just to mix up the combination of bagel and cream cheese and they have never failed me. There was some kind of message from the Board of Health in the window, but no letter grade. The place was crowded, the food in the display looked good so I ignored the red flag and went in anyway. The service was fast, though the counter guy shot me what might have been a dirty look, but also might have been my imagination, when I only ordered a garlic bagel with cream cheese. Even though it seemed a touch overpriced, even by today's standards, it was still one of the cheaper things on the menu. The bagel was hard, like it was a few days old. I figured that it was late afternoon and the best time to order bagels was probably in the morning. They didn't ask me if I wanted it toasted. I would have said no, though in this case, it would have been an improvement. The cream cheese tasted alright, until two in the morning, when I was woken up and kept awake for over an hour with bad stomach cramps. The bagel and cream cheese were the only things I'd eaten all day that might have caused them. My body has a helpful habit of rejecting things, like rancid cream. My guess is, both the bagel and the cream cheese were a few days old. My feeling about this place is, the workers/owners are arrogant because they always seem to be crowded and they don't care enough to insure that their food is fresh. This is a relatively big store that has a wide variety of bagels and other food for breakfast, lunch and perhaps, dinner. I can only review on their bagels though. Their bagels are OK, but i think it would've been better if I had them toasted. Their veggie cream cheese is also good. But I think overall, this is one of the pricier places to get a bagel. This is based off of getting one sesame bagel with veggie cream cheese and one regular bagel with cream cheese. The man who took my order was quick and kind, however, when I walked towards the counter thinking someone was telling me to go pay, a middle aged man decided to give me a quick lecture on how their payment process worked. The best bagels ever! This place is ALWAYS busy and in the morning there are lines out the door - and for good reason. This place makes best bagels. Nobody can beat a fresh bagel from Bagel Boy and even a bagel that's not just fresh out is amazing. With plain butter, cream cheese and jelly or more elaborate mixtures, the bagel is the main attraction. Decided to come here and check out the hype since I got tired of eating the same old breakfast from the corner deli and this place was so close to work. First thought *WHY DIDNT I COME HERE SOONER* I came at a great time because there was no line and according to my trusty yelpers there can be lines out the door, I managed to order my lox cream cheese with tomato on an everything bagel toasted paid and was out the door in less than five minutes. I didn't have time to check out their other stuff because there was no line I was literally in and out. But I did take their menu and plan to order lunch from them since I heard they deliver. I can understand why people complain about confusion and messed up orders because you are basically telling one person behind the counter what you want and he goes and makes it, there's no receipt or number but the same guy who takes my order brings it to the front and tells the cashier what I ordered and let's her know it's mine.. so I guess when it gets busy it might get confusing if they just pass it to the cashier? Not sure how it gets when it gets busy but I guess I was lucky cause my first experience was great. Now on to my amazing lox cream cheese spread.. Did I mention AMAZING?!? The consistency of it was like butter and they don't go cheap on the spread either, I've never had any cream cheese like this. The only reason I took off one star was because I found both the bagel and the cream cheese a bit too salty for my preference. (Thank god I added tomatoe to make it less salty) None the less it was still probably the best cream cheese I've ever had! I can't wait to try other bagels and their paninis! Yes this place is quite expensive and I'm sure it can add up, at my corner deli it would probably cost me $2.75 for what I ordered and over here I paid $3.50 but you get what you pay for and I would definitely recommend them read more

On reviewer said this place was always crowded. They were right, but the line moves so fast you don't even notice the long lines I ordered a bagel sandwich which was very well put together, and the counter guy was very nice in his recommendations as to cheeses and there toppings. The only problem is, bagels are kind of expensive than the many other bagel shops in the neighborhood. A bagel and cream cheese goes for $1.95 ($1.5 at dunkin donuts) and my sandwich an chips were 7 dollars. This seems expensive because in the neighborhood sandwiches on rolls are 3.50. I would come back again if I felt like having a filling lunch and was willing to spend more than $5 for it. Otherpre-made salads and wraps run close to 7 bucks as well. I usually order from Bagel Boy by the phone, staff is not that friendly but it's ok. I understand they are quite busy. Delivery time is usually about 30-40 minutes. Food is pretty good. I love their chicken salad because it has tomato chunks. Panini is ok but my coworkers like it a lot because they put extra mixed green salad on the side. P.s. I've been going to this place for many years and nothing ever changes with these guys, which is not a bad thing since their bagels are great, but every single of their self-serve coffees offering is pure garbage. It's cheap and you can taste it. It tastes awful unless you load it up with sugar and creamer. I drink it black. I've had better coffee during camping in the middle of nowhere. After tasting Bagel Boy's coffee, DDs coffee feels like I'm drinking a freshly pressed cup of high-end coffee house (this is bad). Bleh. This is a solid little bagel joint in an area that didn't seem to have much else going on around. Definitely not the super chewy, gourmet bagels I've come to expect here in NYC, but definitely still a solid option. I ordered an egg & cheese sandwich on blueberry bagel and added cucumbers for a bit of crunch. The employees could tell that it was my first time in the store as I didn't really understand the system for waiting and paying. I've been coming to bagel boy consistently all my life because their bagels are one to beat. Their bagels are one of the best. They have a chewy outer texture with a soft middle which is literally the perfect bagel. Some of my favorite bagels are the blueberry and the whole wheat ones. They are also really thick rather than a thin bagel with a giant hole in the middle. You definitely gt a good amount of bread. They also have a wide variety of cream cheeses and spreads but one of my all time favorites is the vegetable cream cheese. There are chunks of different veggies that give it a lot of texture and flavors. This place is always super busy so be prepared to wait on a line or encounter some rude cashiers. They're just really busy but they manage to get your order out as quickly as they can. The bagels here are well worth the annoyed attitudes or long lines. read more
