This is my first visit here. I am just passing by this area and ran into this bagel store. I enjoyed choosing through their huge selection of foods. There is a wide variety of food and snacks to choose from for a great lunch. The young staff behind the counter charged me for an extra item I did not order. I had a feeling my order was a bit over so I asked him to print me a receipt. I looked at it and informed him of his mistake. He compensated my money without any problems. I hired Bagel Boy to cater an event for 95 people recently. The man who handled the order, Mike, was great. He flat out told me that I was over ordering and that a smaller order would more than meet my needs. He was right, too! We had more than enough food, coffee, and paper products for the event. The order was delivered exactly on time and the delivery guy helped me carry everything into our event space. And, to top it off, everything looked and tasted delicious. Several people at the event commented on the quality and asked where we had ordered from. It was just perfect! Needless to say, I will be catering with them again very soon! read more

Started going here when they first opened several years ago. Use to go religiously. Bagels are always good and the service behind the counter always friendly. On a Monday, the Owner/Manager named Lou, decided to strike up a conversation with me about his Legal matters. Since I spoke well, wore glasses and a suit, he assumed I was a Lawyer. Or I guess all Jews are Lawyers in his universe. After listening to his nonsense for about 30 minutes, I proceeded to finish my bagel. The next morning on a Tuesday, he sees me and acts as though he doesn't know me. Wednesday, he strikes up a conversation about the Rangers which lasts a few minutes. Thursday, I pick up the NY Post to show him the front page of Henrik Lundqvists shutout, he doesn't acknowledge me. The next 3 days, he doesn't acknowledge my existence. This has pretty much gone on for 3 years. I was one of his best customers, doesn't even take the time to know my name. I don't mind if you don't want to talk to me, as a matter of fact, I'd prefer it. But to strike up conversations, then tolerate me the next day when I try to be friendly and converse with you, stick it! I don't need to be tolerated. For a full year, the Egyptian Cashier busted my chops when I came to pay. I know she was joking around with me, but never took the hint that i wasn't in the mood for her wise cracks that particular day. A morning never went by without her giving me a hard time. The guy has 2 partners who are brothers, both of them are nice guys. Lines are to long and not enough seating. Socially inept Manager. What terrible service! Everything went fine until the girl at the register with the big nose gave me the worst attitude. I gave her a smile as I walked up and she gave me the dirtiest look in return. She didn't even tell me how much my food was I had to look over and see for myself. By far the best bagel shop in new york city! There's a line no matter what time of day but the line moves quick and there's always so many workers ready to assist. The place is exceptionally clean. They have an eating area, which is uncommon. The place is inexpensive, it's 2012 if you think you will be paying 50 cents for an amazing bagel and $2.50 for a great sandwich then you're crazy. read more

I have been a regular customer at Bagel Boy for years. I eat lunch there 5x a week. The place is immaculate, coffee is always fresh, bagels are the best in brooklyn & the salads are better than homemade. The lines are a bit long at times but anything worth having is worth waiting for & just as important as cleanliness & quality of food is the quality of service. Each & every employee, the girl who answers the phone, Cathy & all the guys behind the counter are hard working, courteous, friendly & efficient...I always get EXACTLY what I order. Then there's the manager Louie. He runs a tight ship, treats every customer & employee with respect, ALWAYS takes the time to say hello, always a smile on his face. My father passed away recently & when I ordered a platter from Louie he took the time to talk to me about my loss & he even shed a tear. Talk about service with a personal touch! Here it goes. I love the bagels from bagel boy and go to the Bay Ridge location several times a week. But this review is for the Sheepshead Bay location. I work in the area with my colleagues and we have had issues before with Bagel Boy not getting it right but today took the cake. We deal with regular mess up on sandwiches of forgetting something but today ordered a Turkey club sandwich and got some chicken cutlet sandwich of some sort . The sandwich must have been heated with the wax paper on it because it was suck all over the bagel making it inedible. The lettuce was wilted too. So one lunch shot. My colleague order to pre made salads and it took 10 plus mins to get it in a pretty slow time when we we're there. We understand a wait during the lunch rush but it wasn't that time. On to the third gentleman in our group he regularly suffered the worse mess up on his lunch bit today it was easy on him they just forgot to put the pepper he requested on his egg salad sandwich. This was basically a $40 plus dollar lunch for the 3 of us wasted down the drain . We tried to give them chance over again, with being in the area but they can't ever get it right. We have no problem spending money on a good lunch but when you get back to your job and the food isn't right or in my case basically inedible you know you are done with a place. It's simple make a sandwich correctly, quickly and tasty, you're doing good. If you miss any of 3 or in my case all 3 you are failing. Today Bagel Boy you failed me. read more

This place is expensive!!! Food quality is okay... but nothing special... staff has a tendency of messing up orders... just make sure you say your order slowly and clearly... I know people that order food from there everyday and they always forget something simple... such as bacon egg and cheese with ketchup but then they'll forget the ketchup! read more

Overrated. They have good bagels and can make decent sandwiches. The make-your-own salad thing is good but too pricey for the neighborhood. The biggest problem though, is the ridiculously long wait. Love this place! One of my boyfriend and I's favorites. We usually come by on weekday mornings to grab a breakfast sandwich, bagel with cream cheese or butter, or soup. Their soups are amazing. Food and service are great. The only unfortunate person there is Lou. I don't know who hurt him but I've literally never met a more miserable prick in my entire life. I'm in there practically every day for a coffee before my shift and everyone knows me and is pleasant and wonderful except him, I've never seen him not have a nasty attitude and he has something rude to say almost every time. I was there approximately 11:50am last Saturday and there were people waiting for their food, not ready to be rung up, and one of the workers saw me and nodded towards me so I ordered my usual coffee and the cashier starts to ring up my massive inconvenient order of... a coffee. I eat here often. The food is always good. Best bagels and cream cheese around. There is always a line and usually they keep things moving. However, lately service is really slow. This morning was particularly bad. Three people ahead of me and waited 15 min. The problem was the guys taking orders were too busy socializing and chatting instead of paying attention to what they were doing. Even my sister, who was visiting from upstate and has eaten here a couple of times, noticed how slow it was and asked what the problem was.
