Great selection, fast service and yummy bagels! Great stop on the way to Long Branch beach!!

Ummmmm, has any one of the reviewers here ever considered showing some respect for food? Has anyone here ever pondered what a bagel is? Has anyone had a bagel at the Bagel Oven, let alone NYC? Unfortunately not. These bagels are chewing hunks of gluten with a puny paper-size skin: no crunch, not depth, nothing to come back to, and definitely nothing to feed my soul. And these "Bagel Sandwiches", who cares about a bagel sandwich? When I get bagels, I want good bagels - I don't care about what ever pathetic pre-selected topping combinations the store has made for me. Speaking of which, have any of the previous reviewers ever been to a delicatessen? Once again, unfortunately not. Tisk, tisk, Jersey Shore-ites: One of the most important accoutrements of upwardly-mobile bourgeoisie is a refined palate (or at least the presentation thereof). Have been going to Bagelmasters for years and have always loved them. I'd even go out on a limb and say they are a top 5 bagel place in Monmouth County. Anyway, long story short, my wife's and myselfs everything bagels this morning were undercooked. It was a little gross. We were very disappointed. Such a shame. read more

They are the masters !!! The bagels are fit for 1 and a half people so be warned. The sandwiches are generous and the staff is attentive and friendly. Perfect for the family or the Baseball team. A "Jersey Shore" gem. read more

Terrible experience, I called and the person who answered was basically asleep. They were mumbling and had a hard time taking my order. After I got off the phone, I made my way over to bagel masters and had to wait in a huge line, not to mention it was extremely hot in there, I was literally dripping in sweat. After waiting for a long time I finally got to the register, After feeling relief knowing the wait was over I was told my order wasn't even made yet. I was then yelled at by a gentleman telling me my name is common and it was somehow my fault. I've heard from others that the gentleman is know for yelling at customers and as a result that said customer no longer brings their business to bagel masters anymore either. I would not recommend wasting your time here, You are at risk of sweating profusely and being yelled at. After all of this the food was mediocre. read more

When I go to a bagel place, all I want to know about are the bagels. No breakfast sandwiches or lunch wraps. So I cannot comment on those. But, the BAGELS? OH MY GOODNESS. The place had great food in the past but rating it a 1 star for customers service. I'm a physician on the front lines during this pandemic and trying to get food before my shift. I called asking for a bagel sandwich they say credit only and a $10 minimum. I ask how much the sandwich costs and he doesn't tell me. Only says it's not enough. I ask again to see how much more and he finally says I need to spend 4 more dollars. I have never eaten anything else from there so I ask for suggestions of what else they sell that is popular and he says they sell a lot and hangs up. I call back and speak to someone else. Essentially order 2 sandwiches then he can't tell me an estimate of when it will be ready. Said it could be 10 minutes or an hour. They would text me when it was done. I reiterated as a doctor heading to the hospital to work I couldn't wait an hour I asked for a more accurate estimate and he said it wasn't his problem. If I couldn't wait don't order. Now I've wasted time with them I have to go to work without eating. Way to treat those on the front lines. I will not be eating from here again. read more

Best bagels in NJ. Only con is the staff. I once had the cashier literally grab the money out of my hand. RUDE.

Overall pretty good food, subpar bagels. Would I wait a half hour for it? Probably not. Anyway for years this place has been creating a pretty extensive line, but when will they implement a new process to eliminate the half hour wait? Seemingly no time soon. Advice to management please come up with a better strategy to streamline the ordering and picking up process! read more

Very good bagels and a lot of options. I got a whole wheat bagel with lox and low fat cream cheese. I ordered the bagel lightly toasted and that's exactly what I got which is rare at a lot of places. Lox was very fresh as well as the bagel. The people who worked there were also very nice. Good prices as well as a decent amount of seating for a bagel place which is nice. Being that I grew up on Long Island when it comes to pizza and bagels I have VERY high standards. I moved to Middletown, NJ in 2011 - almost 4 years ago. 4 years of searching for bagels and pizza that came relatively close to Long Island. Well folks, certainly take it from me Bagelmasters is without a doubt the closest you will get to a New York bagel on the Jersey Shore. I'm addicted to this place and will drive 20 minutes just for one bagel, IT'S THAT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!! Bagelmasters, Shrewsbury: Right up there tied for numero uno with Bagel Station, Redbank. I went there on the Saturday before Christmas and was a little dismayed with the line of folks waiting patiently for their round doughy delight. Thankfully the line moves quickly and when I got to order I was blown away with the choices of flavors offered. Being a purist I shied away from the more exotic choices and went with the everything toasted with fried egg and bacon. The man behind the counter (I take it he was the owner) wished a Merry Christmas to all and behind him were Christmas decorations along with a menorah. Gave the impression that this place wants all folks to enjoy their products. The bagel was perfect - just the right amount of chewiness, softness and flavor. Each bite was urging me on to see if the next one would be even better...my poor bagel was devoured in minutes. I saw little tongue-in-cheek napkin holders with a caption saying "Carbs are good for you". Felt a little guilty as I left knowing I had consumed perhaps a week's worth of carbs in less than 10 minutes...but that soon passed. I fully realize that I can never have another bagel anywhere else but in NY or NJ as I would just be settling for a piece of boiled dough with a hole in the middle masquerading as the Real McCoy... or the Real Manischewitz so to speak read more

They have vegan cream cheese! (They use kite hill and have regular or veggie). The bagels are amazing - we get bagels from here all the time. The line often goes out the door especially on weekends which is the only downside. read more

I grew up in Tinton Falls, and used to get breakfast here all the time. My dad lives right around the corner in Shrewsbury, and when I come down to visit, I HAVE to get a bagel. I absolutely love them and I never found a better bagel place by where I live now. I've tied so many but nothing compares! Staff is quick and attentive, bagels are warm and delicious. It does get extremely crowded and difficult to find somewhere to stand while you are waiting for your bagel since it's so crowded at the counter, but it's worth it. This review should probably be in two parts, 1) the bagel, and 2) the sandwich. First, the bagel. Five stars. You won't find a better bagel anywhere. They are big, fresh, and absolutely perfect. If you need bagels and bagels only, you need not go anywhere else. Second, the sandwich. Sadly, one to two stars max on their bacon, egg, and cheese. Using just one egg, this bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel seems like 90% bagel, with everything else combining to act more like a condiment than an actual sandwich. If they used two eggs, and we're not so skimpy on the bacon, there would not be a better option for such anywhere but as it stands now, the sandwich is severely lacking. I did also order a side of home fries that were outstanding, cooked to perfection with diced onions and peppers. Now if only they could get that bacon, egg, and cheese part right! read more

Hands down the best Bagel in the county. Consistently friendly service and the owner is the nicest guy you will ever talk with. The staff behind the counter never get an order wrong and they move quickly so don't be put off by a long line. The Patron is my favorite as are their home fries. I pick up bagels here for my students sometimes. These guys do a great everything bagel! Prices are good. Service is super quick and I can order the day before for a morning pickup. Only drawback is they don't take credit cards which threw me the first time I was there. read more

This place is the best! It is cash only (they have an ATM) and there can be a line during rush hours (esp lunch) but it is 100% worth it.
