A great little hole in the wall off of Lawrence Expressway in a quiet ancient strip mall. The people working there are lovely, the bagel sandwiches tasty and (according to my DH) the coffee, while out of a machine, is delicious. There is a mix of blended drinks available - Thai tea, fruit smoothies, matcha, etc. It is a nice spot to get a sandwich and drink and sit while the traffic of Silicon Valley rolls by. We woke up early to get Covid tested and skipped breakfast for the pleasure of standing in line for three hours, and afterwards we were looking for something to satisfy our growing hunger. Bagel Place Cafe definitely hit the spot. To call this place a small operation is an understatement. In the handful of times that I've come here over the years, I've only ever seen a single person working behind the counter. Things were no different on this occasion, but somehow the lone worker was able to take orders, make the sandwiches, and ring up the customers in a reasonably efficient manner. We got a couple of bacon/egg/cheese and sausage/egg/cheese bagel sandwiches on some different types of bagels. The meat portions were fairly generous; in my sausage sandwich there were two decent-size patties. The eggs were light a fluffy, and the American cheese was satisfyingly gooey. We did notice something curious. For both the onion bagel and the everything bagel, there were toppings on _both_ halves of the bagel. Not just a couple little bits of onion and poppy seed, but a thick coating as if there were two bagel tops and no bottom. What kind of sorcery is this? Don't think I've ever seen that before. We will have to return to see if this is a consistent phenomenon. If so, then one can only conclude that the proprietor is some kind of wizard. Anyways, this is a great place for a breakfast sandwich, a real mom-and-pop kind of operation - even if they are practicioners of the mystic arts. Conveniently open when I wanted a bagel around 7am on a Thursday, Extensive list of juices, smoothies, coffee and tea. The all-in-one bagel was very flavorful and a good texture, and the bacon/sausage on top was alright, egg was fluffy (definitely made with milk though). One person mentioned that there wasn't enough cream cheese on her bagel, and another said the chives in the lox spread didn't taste amazing. I was looking up a place that I had never tried for breakfast that was open before 7AM. I came across Bagel Place Cafe. When I first went inside it was empty, only the store owner and his wife. They were busy making bagels and I'm sure other things. I bought a bagel sausage egg and cheese sandwich and a coffee. The coffee was nothing special, however they do offer specialty coffee drinks. I always order the bacon egg bagel sandwich. Everything comes out steaming hot. My husband has also expressed interest in their bagel dogs. I stopped by late morning on a weekday so the variety of bagels left were limited. I got an Asiago cheese bagel and also the last salt bagel, both as a lox sandwich and with salmon schmeer for the boyfriend. He said they were delicious. I noticed they also sold Vietnamese sandwiches as well and thought I'd try it out; I got the grilled pork sandwiches. I was surprisingly impressed with it. Small, locally owned shop. First time visiting but a coworker once ordered a spinach, mushroom, and egg bagel for me before new management took over. The Swiss cheese I got seemed like white cheddar ... With only 15 min for break, I eyed the limited bagel selection quickly and sadly didn't spot the last cinnamon crunch in the upper left corner of the display case. I had already ordered a strawberry bagel. Apparently, they don't have blueberry cream cheese, unlike my go to Fresh U Order two plazas away. Bagel Place doesn't skimp on cream cheese, generous compared to FUO: the strawberry cream cheese was super pink. Verdict: bagel was a-ok and kept me full until lunch. Interesting how I didn't have to pay until they finished making my order. There was one other customer ahead of me waiting for his food and presumably coffee. They offer Banh Mi, Viet sandwiches. Not sure if one of those listed is pork roll (cha), which is my favorite. Hopefully they have it. Service is fine; they did seem a bit rushed with 3-4 employees scurrying behind the counter, despite the lack of customers at the time. Makes me think they aim to please. My coworkers call ahead of time for lunch orders and pick up satisfying bagel sandwiches. I'm loyal to FUO, but if I'm lazy to drive, I'll walk on over to Bagel Place Cafe. read more

I visited Bagel Place Cafe on a Friday around 7:30am in the morning. The cafe had a few patrons present when I arrived. There were two woman working behind the counter. Once I put in my order, the place started to pick up and the cashier began taking orders, making orders, and ringing up people. I waited a total of 10 minutes for my order (not long at all) but others waited about 10 minutes for a bagel and cream cheese. I hope to see more people helping out on weekday mornings in the future. These women were busy and trying their best at managing the crowd but they need at least one more person helping so they do not have to rush so much. The cafe is very small but has an ample amount of seating inside and outside. There are a few tables and bar to sit at inside and three tables outside. The entire cafe was very clean and orderly too. They have two coolers full of sodas, juices, and cream cheese towards the back right of the cafe. You cannot miss it. I recommend taking a look inside for a cold beverage. They have lots to choose from if you are not in the mood for coffee. As for coffee, they have a nice selection of brewed coffee for you to choose from. The coffee tastes OK and they have plenty of sweeteners and creamers available to spice up that cup of Joe. There are two display cases: one for bagels and one for pastries. I was here for the bagels and sandwiches. The bagels looked yummy in the display case and I immediately found myself ordering from the specialty bagel tray. Here is what I ordered: Four bagel items: 1 bagel dog, 1 sun dried tomato, and 2 jalapeno cheddar 2 small tubs of cream cheese (strawberry and vegetable garden) All Meats bagel sandwich on Asiago Lox sandwich on Asiago Total price $26.82 Tasty Bagels! I enjoyed the bagels. They were tasty and chewy. The All Meats sandwich was packed with lots of meat and one slice of cheddar cheese. It definitely needed more cheese. Thank goodness I bought a few tubs of cream cheese. The bagel dog was nothing special, just a typical bagel wrapped around a hot dog. Big Bummer: The lox sandwich was lacking lox and cream cheese. I was very disappointed with this item. I hoped for more after seeing previous customer photos showcasing an ample amount of lox and cream cheese (cheese you can see coming out the sides). I did notice that the woman making my lox sandwich was the same one taking order and working the cashier. She was really rushed and I believe this might have contributed to my lack of a lox sandwich. The All Meats sandwich was made by the younger woman who only took and made orders. She did a great job on the All Meats but she was not running between three areas of the counter too. Overall, the bagels are good, the place is busy, and the experience was OK. If you have not tried the bagels here, stop by and check it out. For me, I came, I ate, and I know of better bagel joints in north Sunnyvale to eat at. read more

I came here late on a Saturday looking for a good bagel. They were running low on bagels at that time but they do have banh mis! I decided to give the chicken banh mi a shot. It was okay by itself, the chicken texture was a little weird but house Srirachi sauce really made it a lot better. It's a mom and pop shop and both were there hustling to get all the orders together. Strolled in on a Sunday afternoon. Man at the register was really friendly but was hustling to get everything done for orders. Couldn't help but feel a little anxious just watching him. I got a toasted onion bagel with avocado, and the avocado was over ripe and all brown. Also wasn't placed evenly throughout the bagel which bothered the OCD part of me Clam Chowder: reheated canned soup. Super sour with lemon flavor. Couldn't even take more than 2 bites.. First timer here and I think I ordered the wrong thing. I reaaaaaally wanted the jalapeno cheese bagel but I was trying to be "healthy" lol. I opted for the Sun Dried Tomato bagel which was OK but very dense. I like my bagels to be medium in density because I don't like chewing things forever, haha. Hubs ordered a breakfast bagel sandwich with egg and bacon. It smelled really delicious and I was envious of his order once we were in the car. Service wasn't bad. It was a younger woman manning the front counter and one male working in the back. I was a little apprehensive because a lot of reviewers were saying how awful the service was, etc. So it was a pleasant surprise to be met with such pleasant service. When ordering iced coffee, note that you will be given a cup of ice to pour the hot coffee over. No cold brews here, but I guess I can't knock them on that.
