I'm half and half on the experience. Mainly because the price doesn't match the quality. We bought macarons, a chocolate croissant, a quiche, Nutella type beignets and 2 drinks. A total of almost $60. I could have had an expensive breakfast at a high scale restaurant. Pulled in with no customers and had quite a wait. Have loved this place for years but today I was incredibly disappointed by multiple things - the omelette was very hard and chewy (and totally brown), the mozzarella in one of our sandwiches was not their usual fresh one (definitely stale) and the beignets were actually chewy and doughy. Not sure if the original owner/chef is no longer there or was simply out but we miss their original cooking and touch. The place is a mess with things strewn about and they had one woman at the front counter; I felt bad for her because they were clearly overwhelmed. read more

For my first visit we tried the baguette which was OK, but not outstanding. The Kouign Amann was fantastic. The Pan with chocolate and almond was very tasty; not a croissant which was what I wanted. I will definitely go back to sample other delicious looking items. read more

What a great small local French Bakery! Drove all the way from Driftwood and this mom pop shop didn't disappoint! Came back from a trip to France wanting some pastries and baguettes....look no further! Located in a plaza and they have a couple of tables to sit outside. Authentic! So, this place is a delight and I'm sad that it's so far from me in north Austin. Amazing COVID protocols that actually are designed to protect the STAFF as well as the customers. So only one customer/group is allowed inside at one time. But plenty of seating around the building while you wait. We got there too late to get their pastries, but were able to try a build your own cheesy panini and the parisienne sandwich. The prices are super low for what you get in terms of size AND high quality ingredients. I couldn't finish my sandwich but enjoyed it for dinner later that day. They also have something I've never seen before, a baguette that is basically a tear-and-share. So you have like 8 tiny baguettes in one thing. And the bread is sooooooooo good. I LOVED this bakery! After binge watching the Great British Baking Show with my daughter, all I wanted for Mother's Day were some amazing, authentic pastries! I got the almond croissant, which I LOVED! Selfishly, I did wish there was more almond pastry cream inside, but the flavor was great! I also tried some macrons (fantastic), the French vanilla flan (great vanilla flavor) and a raspberry layered cake (needed more raspberry flavor). The ladies who, I think, own the bakery were efficient, helpful, and had great patience! They were slammed, but so attentive to each person. I loved the cute cafe feel it had. My friend raved about this place so while we were in the area during my Austin trip we stopped in. She was right that the croissant was one of the freshest and best tasting ones I have had since actually being in France a few years ago. It was light and fluffy and didn't even need anything on it. I did ask for butter which was served to me hard as a brick and ice cold.... good thing it didn't need any. I ordered an Earl Grey tea and they were out of creamer at the do it yourself counter so I asked for some - then asked for anything other than half and half and was told they charge extra for that but they'd give me a soy side "this time". So I waited for that. I ordered the quiche and my friend ordered the croque monsieur which is like a warmed ham sandwich with cheese and egg on top (think French toast bread). Both were out in about 10-15 minutes and both were fresh, warm and delicious. The quiche was actually a huge portion and I couldn't finish it all but it was very good. The menu isn't especially healthy friendly.... no greens, salads, avocado toast, or anything like that. The dishes are served with a very small and lightly dressed salad of sorts but it's heavy cream, butter, eggs, cheese and such on the food with signs all around that they do not change or accommodate special requests or customize anything. Service isn't especially friendly and they don't accommodate anything outside the listed menu but they have some delicious options if you are in the mood for French breakfast and the bakery had a lot of yummy fresh-made sweets in the display. read more

First of all, round of applause for the staff here. They dealt with the rudest, most entitled, pretentious Westlake customers you could imagine. I heard maybe ONE customer say "thank you" out of the constant stream of people coming in for Saturday brunch and bread pickups. Kudos to the staff for keeping a smile the entire time! The place itself is tiny. There's maybe two tables outside and four little tables cramped together inside. Most indoor tables had outlets, and there is free wifi, but good luck grabbing a spot. The selection was also significantly smaller than what the photos make it out to have. Not necessarily a bad thing, considering their food is very filling. I got an omelette with goat cheese, basil, and sundried tomatoes on a croissant and a Napoleon to go. The omelette took maybe 10-20 minutes. Understandable when there's a lot of customers and not a lot of space in the building. It's tiny! The Napoleon looked much prettier than it tasted. The layers of cream didn't taste of much, and the icing on top was too sweet (too much powdered-sugar flavor?) The omelette was the star. It was hot, buttery, flavorful, and was way too big to fit in the croissant. I thought it would be a measly portion, but I was very wrong. I was stuffed. They really know their laminated dough--next time I'll just get croissants. read more

They have good croissants and their sourdough baguette is the best in the area when they have it. My 3 stars is the result of the fact that 8 times out of 10 when I go there even at 10:30AM they are sold out of sourdough (original) baguette. I wish they would make more because I've now reached the point where I just assume they won't have any and that's disappointing. read more

The food here was absolutely delicious! It was our last day on our trip and we looked for a quick brunch before hitting the road and happily found ourselves at our second French restaurant in as many days. I ordered the best spinach quiche of my life, as well as a salad that I had for dinner that night. The quiche was, as I mentioned, spectacular and very authentic, and, of note, not too oily which is always a plus. The salad was pretty uneventful but I was not given the vinegarette (and unfortunately did not realize until I was two hours away) so that may have been a contributing factor. I had not been to this cute, out of the way bakery / cafe since before the pandemic. My friend and I met there to celebrate her birthday and were delighted! This little place is not easy to see - it's near the back of the parking lot, just off Bee Caves. There was plenty of parking, and there were plenty of tables on a Wednesday at lunchtime. We ordered at the counter, quiches and salads ($10), and were given a "buzzer" to alert us as to when the order was ready. We sat outside at a little table for 2 and when the buzzer went off, I went in and retrieved our lunches, packed in little brown boxes, and some plastic forks. The quiches were delightful! They also offer salads, sandwiches and some of the most beautiful pastries in town! I recommend this place for lovely "al fresco" weather, because the inside area was a little cramped - I would not have enjoyed eating in there. read more

I've been going to this amazing family owned bakery for as long as I can remember and they're transitioning to online orders/ curbside service during the pandemic. Despite being absolutely slammed for Mother's Day, my prepaid preorder was basically ready when it was supposed to be with contactless curbside placement into my car and everything was the same stellar quality it has always been. Tray of quiche, Pain au chocolat, cinnamon roll (delicious flavor without being doused in frosting like lesser bakeries), and macarons were the stars of Mother's Day brunch. I have been wanting to check this place out for awhile. Today was our lucky day! When you first walk in you get distracted by the amazing display of pastries. The menus are at the beginning of the line, which we missed seeing at first, again distracted by the macaroons. The hubby ordered the Parisien sandwich, which is ham, Swiss and French mustard on very tasty bread. I ordered the ham and cheese omelette. The omelette was very good, ham in every bite. On the way out we ordered the chocolate tarte which was super rich and amazing. The hubby has actually been to France and he says the food is very authentic as well as the atmosphere. The only reason I don't give this place a 5 star is because of the girl taking the order, she was not very pleasant and seemed annoyed by any question we asked. Other than that we highly recommend this place and will be returning to try other items on the menu. read more

First off, brilliant Croque Madame. The flavor of the mornay sauce really came out, it wasn't soggy even after the drive I had to make from Bee Caves to Dripping. The bread was thickly cut and soft with crispy edges. The egg was a bit over hard, but I didn't mind. The salad was crisp and refreshing. I also bought 2 eclairs, 3 croissants and a cinnamon roll. My bill with tip was almost $37 so buyer beware, these pastries aren't cheap! The eclairs weren't quite what we were expecting. The filling is chocolate, ganache or close to that consistency. I was thinking it was going to be a vanilla or bavarian creme inside, so I was a little disappointed. The choux pastry felt a little dry in the mouth, usually they're airy, at least by my experience. The croissants were amazing. I also placed orders for several coworkers as well. One ordered the chicken and mushroom flan and was as amazed by it as I was with the Madame. My other coworker ordered macarons and was in love with them. The order took a while because I went early and the ovens weren't ready, but chef was kind enough to add two macarons to my order due to my wait. I had a vanilla and what I believe was raspberry and they were incredible. I had honestly never had macarons before (I know, I know) and it was exciting that I got to try some out of the blue. The restaurant itself is immaculately clean, the staff is friendly and again, the Croque Madame. I can't say when I'll be back, or if I'll go out of my way to go out there again, but it was a great experience. read more

We used to get all sorts of goodies, tarts, holiday cakes, sourdough etc.... They have changed ownership over the past 2 years and have limited the menu options, taken away the eat in option and the quality has definitely gone down. Every time anyone asks about what we used to be able to order the static response is "we don't have the capacity" Even when you "eat in" it's in a box. The wonderful quiche, and French menus options have been ruined. read more

Unfortunately, I think I'm over the place. Food is 5 star (most of the time). The service, attitude, and atmosphere is ZERO. Oh and let's talk about running out of items in the face of demand. Let's face it, the business model has changed to take out only, less a drive through and some customer service manners. Zero accommodations for patrons eating outside which in the Texas summer shouldn't last long. The food is packed to go anyway, which adds to the order and get out atmosphere. The COVID protocols of the "restaurant" have provided the opportunity to cause the atmosphere which ruins the experience. If I wanted rude and Parisian, I'd visit the country and have the benefit of the river's breeze not sweating with a buzzer to come get my food. It's now the McDonalds of French breakfast or lunch, except they ran out of breakfast by 9:30. Way to take a place and destroy it. read more

My husband bought 2 boxes of macaroons from here today, and sadly 3 of the macaroons in the first box were completely stale. They must have been a couple days old. It was very strange because the other macaroons in the box (rose lychee and chocolate) were quite good, but the violet and the earl grey ones were as hard as a rock and wholly inedible. Also, the lavender flavor wasn't stale, but had too much lavender extract in it, to the point of tasting like soap. I'm a bit scared to try out the second box given how inconsistent the first one was. read more

Everything in this bakery looks like the bakeries I've been to in France. I got an almond pain au chocolate and holy crap. It was like heaven on earth. Seriously one of the best I've ever had! I intended on only having a few bits of this and a few of the raisin one I got but I ended up eating the entire thing licking my fingers and scraping the bottom of the bag looking for more . I'm going to go back and try their actual brunch items - I have high hopes for everything in here and am stoked to try all the pastries. I went again with my daughter and we ordered way too much for just the two of us. Everything was spectacular. My daughter got a hazelnut cake to go and couldn't wait to not be full so she could eat it. She dropped the box in the parking lot and it became mush. Typically she'd beg for a new one that looks beautiful but she just brought it home mad at herself for dropping it, until she took a bite. What was supposed to be a bite just to try became an empty box of once mushed cake. She said it was the bomb. Oh and the macarons we ordered. I went to eat one later and nope I couldn't. She snuck off and ate the ALL. She said they're the best she's ever had. read more

This was once a neighborhood wonder, with delicious French offerings from the delightful chef. A couple of years ago they got into an online battle with a customer who was livid he could not being his gun into the restaurant. Things went south and they ended up removing their social media accounts to control the flood of hate aimed at the owners. Because of this there may be days you go there when it says they should be open (as I did January 2nd), where you find they are closed with a paper sign on the door. I think this battle and decision to go offline hit them hard. It's one thing for people who live close by, but something completely different if you drive specifically expecting a French treat (as nowhere nearby compares). When I went today all of the china had been replaced with sturdy plastic plates and cups. They still had many delicious pastries on offer, but the flair wasn't there in the same way it used to be. With little seating space, expect to wait if you have a big group, or be prepared to sit outside or even take it to go. Bagette et Chocolate is still a treat, if you're willing to make the trek. I'd say to avoid the couple of days surrounding holidays or call first, to be sure they're open. Then go. It is, after all, the place off duty chefs enjoy eating at. read more
