This was great, just like it used to be. We had to wait a few minutes for our food because it was being prepared fresh, no worries there. The gal up front gave us extra chips while we waited, nice, yumm! Service was friendly and positive. Food was fresh, plentiful, and tasty. Atmosphere is open and clean. Now, is this a 5 star review like Kai? No. But, Baja Fresh is just what it's supposed to be, good value, large portions, fresh, friendly. Overall, I definitely recommend Baja Fresh if your looking for good food, pretty quick, plentiful, tasty and friendly for under $10 per person. I hope the brand regrows and more shops pop up in more locations. Kudos Baja Fresh for following the old recipe that worked,...and keeping the fantastic salsa bar! read more

Baja Fresh is a fast casual Mexican Food chain that's quite prominent in the Southwest. When I got my first job out of college, there was a location on Warner and McQueen that we would frequent but it closed up shop about 20 years ago and all the other Arizona locations closed up. Now fast forward 20 years later there's this newer location on Ray and Rural that's connected to a Burger King and it's a tasty blast from the past! While this location is small, it has good lighting and plenty of seats for the patrons during lunch hours. Their food is on the healthier side of Mexican food as the ingredients are fresh (no freezers, no cans, no microwaves). Their story talks about flavor and nutrition over fillers and fads. I've tried burritos, tacos and salads over the past few years and everything has been good. There's not been one stand-out menu item for me but I typically gravitate toward the burritos as they are somewhat customizable and filling. Sometimes they have seasonal items or new menu items that are You order your food at the counter and they bring it out to you once ready. The service has always been good and each order comes with a small tray of chips. One big standout about Baja Fresh is their salsa bar. They have 6 salsas ranging from mild (Mango salsa) to hot (molcajete is my favorite!). All of them are made daily and all quite good. Salsa bars at other places I've been to just don't quite measure up as I like all 6 salsas here and usually only 1 or 2 at other places that have ample variety. It's hard for me to not give this place 5 stars as I continue to gravitate here once a month for lunch and it always leaves me satisfied. read more

Back in the day I LOVED Baja Fresh! I was bummed when they started closing them down in AZ. When I saw this location pop up in Chandler I was excited to check it out. It's a shared space with Burger King, which was interesting. The place was clean and the service was good. I ordered my usual from back in the day, a chicken quesadilla and a grilled chicken taco. I was excited to taste their unique salsa again as it was one of my favs. Unfortunately, this is not the same as I remembered it. While the food was ok (at best) the salsa was not close to how it used to be. On a scale of 1 - 10, this was a one and done. RIP Baja Fresh from the early 2000's. read more

It was my first time here and it was wonderful. I got a bowl with the wild caught fish with mixed beans and various salsas. I think I've found my new favorite fast casual Mexican restaurant for bowls (my fav). The employees seemed to take their jobs and customer service seriously which was a great surprise. The taste of the fish, rice, beans and fresh made salsas felt authentic and quality. I will definitely be back. read more

The cashier and staff are really nice, patient, and even brought out food to our table when it wasn't busy. I ordered a Burrito today. I don't order Pico that has onions since I'm allergic. The front girl and the guy making the food spoke in Spanish (not knowing I speak Spanish) actually laughed at me for not having their Pico. I just ordered a burrito for pickup and it's made wrong. Didn't have any of the special instructions done. Instructions said to call when you arrive for pickup and I called twice with no answer. So after many years Baja Fresh has returned. I think there was only one in the entire state up until they opened three of them in the Phoenix area. I used to really like Baja Fresh. So I was surprised that today I didn't like it. It wasn't horrible, but my burrito was really uninteresting and tasteless. I got the Mexicano with rice and beans, and all I could taste was the rice. There was a good amount of meat, but the flavor just wasn't there. It was no match for either Cafe Rio or Chipotle, and I would favor either of those over Baja Fresh. Baja Fresh has landed in Chandler!!! Whooohoo we are so excited!! Heard such good things from my husband!!! This Baja Fresh is connected to a Burger King if you are looking for it! The place is very new and so far very clean!! We didn't have time to dive in so we decided to phone in our orders which consist of 2 Baja steak burritos ( which comes with chips and access to salsa bar) Upon arriving our orders were made fresh and customer service was great! The burritos are soooo delicious! So fresh and cooked perfectly! I loved the different type of salsas that they offered! My favorite would have to be the mango salsa yummmy!! For two giant burritos, chips and salsa we both paid a total of $18.95 including tax. Go check them out and and let me know how you like it!! I don't know why they have such a low rating right now. I showed up right after they opened on a Tuesday morning. I don't expect authentic Mexican. They call themselves tex mex. I had steak nachos. I was given chips, and access to the salsa bar, which had a significant variety of salsas, pico de Gallo, fresh lime, and the labels told you how hot they were. With a large soda, my bill was $13.27. There was a significant amount of food to eat; I could not eat it all. A big plus for me is that they have unflavored sparkling water in the soda machine. Since so many people are swearing off artificial sweeteners and sugar, every place that serves beverages should have that option available these days. While I was eating my food, the staff was attentive, asking me if I was enjoying it. Edward the manager and Izrael were very pleasant. Used to eat them ages ago in Tempe and around Chandler and I always liked their flavor. I'd always get steak. Cane in here today after, what, 6 years and was happy to see nothing had changed with my enjoyment of the food. Guac is hefty, fresh, so tasty. Chips are fresh, thin, like I love them... Been eating at various Baja Fresh in SoCal since the early 90's and it's super awesome to finally have one in the East Valley, that actually tastes as good as I remember. The one thing I like about this Baja Fresh is that it's a new location, so everything is "fresh." I also really like the fact they have a Freestyle (type) soda machine and LOVE the flavor syrup ratio of the Diet Mr. Pibb. I always get the steak Baja burrito. The burritos can be a bit on the small side, but still filling. The salsa bar has my favorite salsas of any casual mex restaurants. Be sure to load up as they all go good on anything you order. The only complaint is that they share a common bathroom with the Burger King that is in a connected building and you can get turned around and walk in the wrong restaurant if you aren't paying attention. Other than that, keep up the good work and good food and you'll have a customer for life. read more

Got a steak salad and it was delicious however the lettuce to toppings ratio was bad. There was SO much lettuce and a little bit of the rest of the stuff in the salad. I recommend they make the size of the salad smaller. I couldn't eat all of it and ended up giving half of it away. read more

I noticed they offered curbside and when I called the woman informed me that they do indeed over curbside service for those for place orders and pay online. That's exactly what I did. I used to love Baja Fresh and it was one of my go too's for quick Tex/Mex. So, I ordered my favorite, the chicken burrito ultimo, and the burrito was missing the sour cream and the cheese. Plenty of chicken and A LOT of onions and peppers, but the sour cream really helps cut the onion taste from being too strong. Attention to detail is important. Oh, and the chips that came with the guac were stale. read more

Still waiting to receive our food for a takeout order but I am already prepared to give this Baja Fresh 5 stars. Edward-special call out- was at the counter and is just maybe the nicest guy ever. Super polite to everyone who came in. While we were getting our drinks a woman in the dining area starting coughing pretty hard and he came out from behind the counter and checked on her. She said she was fine, but he went out of his way and got her a cup of water to help.
