Baja Fresh is a fast casual Mexican Food chain that's quite prominent in the Southwest. When I got my first job out of college, there was a location on Warner and McQueen that we would frequent but it closed up shop about 20 years ago and all the other Arizona locations closed up. Now fast forward 20 years later there's this newer location on Ray and Rural that's connected to a Burger King and it's a tasty blast from the past! While this location is small, it has good lighting and plenty of seats for the patrons during lunch hours. Their food is on the healthier side of Mexican food as the ingredients are fresh (no freezers, no cans, no microwaves). Their story talks about flavor and nutrition over fillers and fads. I've tried burritos, tacos and salads over the past few years and everything has been good. There's not been one stand-out menu item for me but I typically gravitate toward the burritos as they are somewhat customizable and filling. Sometimes they have seasonal items or new menu items that are You order your food at the counter and they bring it out to you once ready. The service has always been good and each order comes with a small tray of chips. One big standout about Baja Fresh is their salsa bar. They have 6 salsas ranging from mild (Mango salsa) to hot (molcajete is my favorite!). All of them are made daily and all quite good. Salsa bars at other places I've been to just don't quite measure up as I like all 6 salsas here and usually only 1 or 2 at other places that have ample variety. It's hard for me to not give this place 5 stars as I continue to gravitate here once a month for lunch and it always leaves me satisfied.

Back in the day I LOVED Baja Fresh! I was bummed when they started closing them down in AZ. When I saw this location pop up in Chandler I was excited to check it out. It's a shared space with Burger King, which was interesting. The place was clean and the service was good. I ordered my usual from back in the day, a chicken quesadilla and a grilled chicken taco. I was excited to taste their unique salsa again as it was one of my favs. Unfortunately, this is not the same as I remembered it. While the food was ok (at best) the salsa was not close to how it used to be. On a scale of 1 - 10, this was a one and done. RIP Baja Fresh from the early 2000's.

New taco trio deal was very good. Ths chicken tacos were loaded with white chicken and wete well seasoned. It was $10 for the meal. Maybe the beans could be better.

I went to the only Baja Fresh left in Arizona. I had the Smoky Chicken BBQ Bowl. It was really good, had a nice kick. They brought the food to me which I appreciated. Only negative...the bowl was $14.

If you're looking for freshness and delicious Mexican food, stop here and eat! This place is very good. I had the Impossible Taco Combo, Baja style since I prefer corn tortillas over flour ones. VERY GOOD! This location is new and very nice on the inside. Very clean as well.

I just ordered a burrito for pickup and it's made wrong. Didn't have any of the special instructions done. Instructions said to call when you arrive for pickup and I called twice with no answer. There were no sauces in the bag like I put, I'm glad I got the mango one when I went in. Big disappointment.

Baja Fresh has landed in Chandler!!! Whooohoo we are so excited!! Heard such good things from my husband!!! This Baja Fresh is connected to a Burger King if you are looking for it! The place is very new and so far very clean!! We didn't have time to dive in so we decided to phone in our orders which consist of 2 Baja steak burritos ( which comes with chips and access to salsa bar) Upon arriving our orders were made fresh and customer service was great! The burritos are soooo delicious! So fresh and cooked perfectly! I loved the different type of salsas that they offered! My favorite would have to be the mango salsa yummmy!! For two giant burritos, chips and salsa we both paid a total of $18.95 including tax. Go check them out and and let me know how you like it!! I'll report back once we "sample" some more hint hint haha

Ok so all is good now! Soda machine is working, food is delicious and staff is friendly and amazing. So happy to have a great baja fresh in the area! Weird side note - i went to California and noticed that their baja fresh locations have cheaper prices than our Az locations.

From the moment we walked in, the ambiance, customer service, and drinks were amazing. I'm a HUGE mezcal lover, and they had a great assortment of mezcals and tequilas to choose from. If that's your thing, you will definitely appreciate their drink menu! Since we were heading to a show afterward, we didn't want to get too full, so we decided to share a few appetizers instead of ordering full entrées. The portions were surprisingly generous! We tried the chicharrón with guacamole, ahi tuna tostadas, and the Aguachile ribeye. Everything was delicious, but the ribeye was definitely a favorite. We're already fans of it from their sister restaurant, Blu Seafood, so we knew we had to order it here. Just keep in mind that at Agave it's served as an appetizer, so the portion is smaller so but absolutely worth it! And of course, we couldn't leave without dessert. We finished with their tres leches cake, and OMG... absolutely amazing. The perfect ending to the night! A special shoutout to our waitress, Jazmyn. She gave us incredible service, was so kind, attentive, and really knowledgeable about the menu. She made an already great experience even better. Great atmosphere, amazing drinks, delicious food, and outstanding service. We will DEFINITELY be back!

This is the first restaurant I have ever reviewed twice on Yelp--and for good reason. The Mexicano…read moreis, without exaggeration, the single best Mexican restaurant I have patronized in my entire life. My wife and I first came here about a month ago, and the food was so incredible that we had to return. Our second visit confirmed that the first wasn't a fluke. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, everyone is friendly, the illuminated decorations create a fun atmosphere, and even the music is at the perfect volume. Everything is made in-house, and you can taste it. From the salsa served with the chips to the green, cream, and red enchilada sauces, every sauce is phenomenal--fresh, flavorful, and not overly salty. My wife ordered the taco trio with the crispy beef tacos we loved during our first visit. They are the best crispy beef tacos we've ever had. The meat is folded inside the tortilla before the whole taco is deep-fried, then topped with lettuce, pico de gallo, crema, and queso fresco. I ordered the enchilada divorciada with chicken tinga, Mexican cheese blend, crema fresca, cilantro, pico de gallo, and queso fresco. One enchilada was covered in green sauce and the other in a rich red sauce. Beautiful presentation and incredible flavor. I normally wouldn't single out the rice on a Mexican plate, but this rice deserves it. It was light, fluffy, never clumpy, and full of flavor. Clearly homemade--and homemade extremely well. The food arrived piping hot and so quickly that it actually beat our cocktails to the table--and the drinks didn't take long! I had a double dirty martini and my wife had a Long Island iced tea. Both were noticeably stronger than standard restaurant cocktails. They definitely don't skimp on the alcohol. The waitstaff are impeccably trained--attentive without being intrusive. They check back within a minute or two, and finished dishes disappear almost immediately. Two floor managers also came by to check on us, laughing and joking and making us feel genuinely welcome. At one point I retrieved a menu to check the spelling of a dish. A manager noticed, rushed over, and apologetically asked whether someone had forgotten to give us one. I explained that everything was fine, but his awareness and concern were incredibly refreshing. I also appreciated their sanitation practices. Bussers don't carry open tubs of dirty dishes through the dining room; they take the trays directly to the back. Each table is also cleaned with a fresh disposable wipe instead of the same dirty rag being reused from table to table. Finally, the made-to-order pineapple flan takes about 15 minutes because it isn't frozen or prepackaged. Once you've reached perfection, there is no need to change, so I ordered it again. It comes in caramel sauce with warm pineapple, whipped cream, and a crisp wafer. The texture is unbelievably smooth and creamy, with exactly the right sweetness. It is literally the best flan I have ever eaten. Even my wife, who doesn't like flan, loves this flan. My wife summed it up perfectly: If you want Mexican food with a genuine home-cooked quality, this is probably the best place you could choose. The Mexicano has exceptional food, strong drinks, impeccable service, outstanding cleanliness, and truly attentive management. This isn't merely my favorite Mexican restaurant in Chandler--it is the best Mexican restaurant I've ever patronized anywhere. We will absolutely be back!

Disappointing Experience Despite a Beautiful Atmosphere…read more From the moment we arrived at the mexicano, the experience was somewhat disappointing. The entry area is extremely small for a restaurant of this size. While the hostess was wonderful--polite, friendly, and quick to seat us--the cramped entrance made the initial impression less than ideal. We were seated at a high-top table directly across from the bar. This seemed like an odd choice for a family of four with a child and wasn't particularly comfortable. It was also about 10 minutes before our waitress came to the table. She was polite, but seemed rushed to take our drink and food orders. We ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees so that everyone could try something different. Unfortunately, most of the food arrived only slightly warm rather than hot, and the portions were surprisingly small given the price. The shredded beef crispy tacos were, quite honestly, some of the worst tacos I've ever had. The fish tacos were tough and overcooked. The enchiladas, however, were the highlight of the meal and the one dish we genuinely enjoyed. The presentation of all the dishes was attractive and thoughtfully done, but unfortunately, the appearance was much better than the food itself. The rice was undercooked, and each entree came with what appeared to be only a couple of tablespoons of rice. The refried beans were a good portion and had a nice flavor, although they were quite salty. Service was another major issue. Our waitress only returned to the table twice during the approximately 90 minutes we spent eating and waiting. While she was always polite, the lack of attention made the overall experience feel neglected. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The atmosphere is pleasant, modern, and very clean, and the presentation of the food was excellent. Unfortunately, those positives couldn't make up for the quality of the meal and the service. Our bill was $158 for four people, including four entrees, one appetizer, and water with lemon. At that price, we expected a much better overall experience. Instead, we all left hungry and disappointed. Atmosphere: Excellent Service: Below average Food: Disappointing, with the exception of the enchiladas Value: Poor Unfortunately, based on this experience, we will not be returning. The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere and plenty of potential, but the food quality, portion sizes, service, and value simply weren't there for us.

Let me get this straight, you put choking hazard sized bones in your tacos and don't tell anyone to watch out for them? I've included pics and video so you can see what I am talking about. Tacos are my favorite food on the planet and I've had birria tacos at many, many places (including Mexico) and have never encountered multiple bones in any kind of taco for that matter. The carne asada was flavorful, tender, and clearly high quality, and the burrito itself was packed with great ingredients and balanced flavors. The added guacamole was the perfect finishing touch. As much as we loved the burrito, Espo's has become a go-to spot for our family because of their Taco Tuesday special.
