Compared to other locations in the valley, its a lot more spacious with seating available both inside and front patio. The place is also clean and well maintained, including their salsa bar which is always stocked and fresh. Prices are pretty affordable and cheap, especially if you use the mail coupons. Not sure what to order? Their chicken or steak burrito ultimo are excellent, huge and comes with a side of chips. I usually get it enchilado style which is drenched in red sauce, melted cheese, sour cream and pico de gallo. So savory and delicious. For you non-carb freaks, bare style is the way to go. Instead of tortilla, it's served on a bed of lettuce in a bowl. Most of the time I call ahead and pickup my order which is very convenient. Very quick and good service. Never been a big fan of the chain, but I sometimes come here for lunch of out of convenience. Got the carnitas tostada salad with some special requests - cheese on side, no sour cream. They got the order right, so points for that. The carnitas were SUPER SALTY. The pork was too salty to eat by itself. I had to have a huge bite of lettuce to dilute the saltiness. Rude Cashier ignores those waiting in line and then has an attitude about not paying attention to customers. Instead of apologizing she has to get the last word and she walks away as though I'm the problem. Manager offers to take my order but she's too busy and says I have to wait. I guess no one else is qualified to bag food in this place except for her. I asked for the store number and she said she didn't know because it changed but I confirmed that that was a lie. Ordered two things, a burrito Mexicano and a kids steak quesadilla. The quesadilla did not have steak, when I brought it back they told me they don't add steak to the quesadillas. (I work by the Baja at Warner Center Woodland Hills and they add steak or chicken alllll the time). The lady offered me steak on the side. I said no I ordered a steak quesadilla and want it cooked with the cheese. She took the quesadilla back to the cook and he literally just opened up the cooked quesadilla slices and grabbed a handful on steak, stuffed it in to each slice, and closed the quesadilla back together. Usually I would order at the counter but most of the time it's always busy. Decided to do phone orders and pick up to go. the last 4 times I've ordered I make sure to emphasize the "add chicken" to the black bean & cheese burrito. I pay extra for the chicken. This place deserves 5 stars because of the ample parking, the friendly staff, prompt service, and consistent taste of their food. I like their Baja steak burrito. It's not too shabby for about $6, and there is always a coupon in the mail circular. I really like their salsa bar, the pico de gallo is always freshly made and they keep ample amounts. When I arrived the place was empty. I payed for my order and went to get salsa. Three sets of people walked in after me. When everyone else started getting their food I inquired. Picked up a large catering order here today. When I inquired if the salsas were packed in the gigantic bag, they weren't! Then I was handed containers to go do it myself!!! WTS? (What The Salsa) Previous catering orders here have always packed the salsa in my order in larger containers. When I got to my destination and started distributing the meals, the two salad dressings were not included for the large salad order. Grrrr. I've never been crazy about Baja Fresh but decided to stop by for lunch since it was convenient to where I was working for the day. I got a cup of tortilla soup for $4.99; add a side salad and it's $7.99. The soup wasn't bad but it tasted more like albondigas instead of tortilla soup. It had great chunks of chicken but lacked other ingredients such ah beans, corn, onion, and even avocado which I only got two small slices of. With that said, the soup wasn't bad but a little more would go a long way. Overall Simple, basic, a bit expensive for what it is and personally I would rather have chipotle. First up, I like Baja Fresh. This particular establishment seems to top the failure charts. Unfortunately this is the closest BF to my home. I have given this dump 4 different occasions at making a standard item, the Shrimp Diablo Burrito. They failed all 4 times. How do you even do that?!? It's a normal item on the menu. It's been the exact same for the last 10 years. The first one they forgot to add shrimp, ok I can see that as a mistake. The second one didn't have beans, ok. Whatever. I've had the food here, and they can be very tasty. That being said, the following occurred on my last attempt to patronize this Baja Fresh. I called to place a phone order, and was greeted with a decent amount of friendliness. I was asked to hold, ok, I did not worrying or think how long I would be on hold. After 5 minutes of nothing except the wonder if they had forgotten me, I hung up and called back. Upon callback I refused to hold, and was instantly treated rudely, and forced to listen to the person on the phone whine about how their credit card machine wasn't working. I asked for the manager, and got very little, if any improvement in quality of service. The manager acknowledged that it was handled poorly, but failed to understand that I had been kept on hold so long, that I was then passing the restaurant, in what would've the preparation time for pick up. I do enjoy the food, but the customer service is terrible. I used to order lunch in advance once a week until there were a few instances where my food wasn't ready on time. For those instances, it would take them maybe 10 minutes to get my food ready. The last time I went there I placed an online order for 12:40 pm at 11:45 am. I didn't get an online confirmation, so I called and they assured me my order did go through. When I arrived, they had not made my meal and it wasn't ready until 1 pm. Nothing was offered as a condolence for the inconvenience and I had to rush back to work with very little time to eat before my lunch break was over. I ordered a salad and a taco. There were only 4 people working on this very busy night and 2 were in the kitchen, leaving the other 2 to take orders, fill orders, refill the salsas and clean up. I have had good and bad experiences here, usually with the staff. Always bring a coupon. coupons available on-line or I usually get some in the mail with supermarket circulars every week. The food is bland if not salty, but you can cover that up with the salsa. There is plenty of room inside for dining. They do have outdoor seating, but with all of the cigarette smokers it a bad environment for dining.
