Such a cute cafe with delicious food too! The space is roomy with a good amount of seating and lots of shelves full of pottery. There's even a little nook with free kids' books. Super cozy. You order at the counter. Breakfast is served all day but I went with one of the lunch offerings. I got the turkey avocado sandwich and it was outstanding. The turkey is thick-cut, not the thin sliced deli variety, and the caramelized onions add a lot of flavor. The focaccia that it's served on is delicious. My friend and I also split a chocolate croissant and it was flaky, buttery goodness. My friend said it was almost as good as the ones she had in Paris. High praise from her! I swung by to grab a quick to go breakfast on a Sunday morning. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with sausage and hashbrowns. It was pretty busy and my to go order took about 25 minutes which was a little frustrating (don't park in the 15 minute parking like I did!) I think the hashbrowns were the holdup along with the long line! The breakfast sandwich was solid. The biscuit was a bit more english muffin-y than flaky biscuit but i enjoyed the herby aioli. The hashbrowns were super greasy and soaked through the takeout container. They were pretty basic McDonald's/Trader Joe's patty style but still delish! The baked goods display was SO tempting but I didn't get anything. Would come back for a sweet treat for sure! read more

I was there for lunch. The baked goods and the salads I saw looked very good, and the casual atmosphere is nice. Nice vibes. But the turkey & avocado sandwich was so salty I couldn't eat it. And I love salty treats like fries, popcorn, chips, and normally add salt to food. But I couldn't eat more than 1 or 2 bites. The bread texture was perfect for focaccia , just way too much salt in the dough. I tried eating the turkey without the bread, and could only taste salt, no turkey taste at all. They need to find a different supplier for their roast turkey breast, or make their own. However, the rest of the sandwich contents were very good, especially the onions. Do try the cafe again, bu stick to salads for lunch. Or come for breakfast. read more

The platter was plated in a gorgeous pottery plate and filled generously with eggs, toast, sausage (my choice) and toast. I ordered, poured a coffee and breakfast arrived shortly after. Oh. Mah. Gawd. This little bakery Café has gone through many iterations, but I have to say that I think this one is the absolute best! They have their traditional sandwiches and they've added baked goods that are beyond delish! The workers are friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed and spacious. The only possible problem is finding parking, but depending on when you go, you can find it quite readily. I'm looking forward to going back. read more

I brought a friend who is gluten free here and we were happily surprised that all the sandwiches could be on GF bread... and they were super tasty! We tried: -The Chicken Salad sandwich ($14) - VERY good -Turkey Avocado sandwich ($15) Note: Chips are not included, but a pickle is. Parking: Street parking. A little tricky, but not terrible. I've been by here many times but my first time in to try lunch. Highly recommend! Apparently, there are new owners, hence no prior reviews. You order at the counter and can eat-in at one of several different sized vintage tables. Tables are spaced well for those who might want privacy or to sit with a laptop. All kinds of pottery for purchase lines the edges of the room. We had a breakfast sandwich with biscuit, egg, cheese, and bacon. Homemade biscuit and this was very good. Also had turkey avocado sandwich on warm focaccia. Large slices of juicy, roasted turkey were so good! I could only eat half of this hearty sandwich. The menu is half breakfast items and half lunch (sandwiches, soup, salad). The best part was the cases of pastries, cakes, and cookies. The cookies we got were still warm. Carrot cake was delicious with a generous double layer of the best cream cheese buttercream. The cookies were so good - my favorite was a polenta cookie with salt and pepper glaze. Tasted like a sugar cookie with a salty kick. Lastly we tried the iced chai latte. Lots of spice and not too sweet. It tasted like homemade chai mix, but if not, wish I knew where they bought it! Overall, while I never went to the first rendition of this place, the new owners are firing on all four cylinders! Great breakfast and lunch spot reasonably priced in the trendy east end. read more

Every once in a while I eat a lunch so good that I wish I hadn't given other places (that were merely very good) five stars. So let's call this place six stars out of five. 1. The avocado turkey sandwich. So so good. I can't even tell you. 2. Green pozole soup. Better than any I've had in Mew Mexico. ( I know. I too was surprised.) 3. They actually made me a dry cappuccino which--as you know-- is a miracle. Fantastic lunch. Nice place to eat it. read more

The staff is friendly and helpful. Lots of coffees and baked goods. Clean with good atmosphere. If you just got back from Europe and are missing fresh baked French deserts pastries, this is the place to go. Menu items are delicious, too. I had the Gilly sandwich and it had many flavors and the croissants were outstanding! The new owners are very friendly having met one going to the restroom. The location for parking can be difficult during rush hours , however plenty of street parking behind to accommodate. I purchased a few deserts to take home and plan on coming back in the near future! read more

This is a surprise on Washington Avenue amongst all of the art studios. We wandered in and were surprised and delighted by their breakfast and lunch selections. We tried the Brandon and the Salmon Toast. The Brandon is a "meat lovers" breakfast sandwich that did not disappoint. It had great flavor and textures. The salmon toast was delicious and could easily been shared as the portions are generous. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Warm, cozy, quiet cafe with delicious brunch items. I've been going here since it was still the Pottery cafe. I was worried they would stop making the carrot cake when it changed hands, but it is still phenomenal and remains my absolute favorite bakery item in Portland. Great place to sit and read while sipping coffee or for catching up with friends over lunch. It's wild to me that it's so quiet and not packed with people, but I won't complain! read more
