I had the same experience as one yelper. I thought it's a one off, only one bad review. Nope I was wrong. I was scrambling to get an order placed and I didn't have much notice. I mentioned this to whomever I was texting and they said yes they could accommodate my order. I requested the next day if it was possible to get a football shape or something small done on the cake if possible. It was just a question. I didn't get a response until the next day. Then they went to I'm being difficult and they will just refund me(this was on day of the order being needed). I was left with scrambling all over town to find a cake last minute for a birthday boy. I was horrified and the blatant cancellation just for asking a question. Sounds like I caught her on a bad day too and responses aren't prompt either. Cake Design - looked EXACTLY as shown in the picture I provided. Including colors (not too pale, not too bright. very nicely done.) from the outside the cake was perfection. The only critique I have when we cut into it, it completely fell apart and turned into a mess. I don't know if it was because it was too dry or maybe just too tall. Between the layers of cake bread, was the fruit. Maybe the cake it self needed to be a bit shorter (less bread). Difficulty of Cake Design - I would say intermediate (you can google "coraline welcome home cake" to get a better idea) I got EXACTLY what I hoped for 5-stars! Taste - 5 stars! Cake had chocolate buttercream outside, vanilla cake, with fresh strawberry & blueberry filling. Fruit was very fresh, nothing mushy! Communication - 4 stars. I haven't ordered a custom cake before so I think I had some "dumb" questions, because I wasn't met with the friendliest demeanor, but I didn't read into it too much. Communication was short & direct, picked up cake at agreed upon time. This is not a retail location, I believe this person might have made the cake from her home, not sure. Terrible customer service. I ordered the cake for my daughter's birthday. I gave a deposit and scheduled a pick up day. Since they ended up adding detail to my cake extra deposit was given, so total $70 for deposit. The date of the cake pick up, my time was 130pm, at 1pm, I texted the lady to let her know my husband would pick it up and I would zelle the rest of the money. I sent $85 via zelle. She called me immediately, and said I paid her wrong and I wasn't supposed to zelle, it should have been cash, as she told me at the time of order. Obviously I missed that detail, so I apologized and explained that I actually did pay the full deposit. Then she said well you didn't account for taxes.....ok, so how much do I owe you? $12. Ok, no problem. She just kept repeating g how it's would have been cash and she also told me about the tax. But mind you, she never actually sent me total amount to include the tax. So I finally had to say, it's not a big deal, I will pay you, no need to get sassy. She was the most defensive, unprofessional person I have possibly ever dealt with in a small business. She kept saying I'm defending myself and you were supposed to pay cash. So I finally said, okay if you'd like I can bring cash and you can just zelle me back what I paid you. Then she went on and on how she doesn't have time to be doing all this, she is busy and has two orders due at the same time, and then said "do whatever you want".....mind you this was my daughter's birthday so I am just as busy preparinf for the party. I hired a service to help me not make our day worse. In addition, once the cake came home, the icing started slidding off of it, so I had to fix it and it looked a total mess. Basically I paid $167 for terrible service and a ruined cake. If I could leave 0 stars I would. The most unprofessional small run out of home business I have ever dealt with. It's so sad to see. I don't typically write reviews unless something sticks out to me. When ordering the cake, the process seemed slightly rushed (I was fine with this). When I was describing the cake I wanted she didn't confirm with me the details for communication's sake which was concerning since she doesn't provide an invoice or receipt. I wished she had some sort of invoice so both parties could confirm they had the correct details. Especially it would be for her benefit as well legality-wise. The cake was to be delivered on Wednesday night, there was a bit of confusion but it was cleared up. I had never ordered a cake before but other than that the cake-ordering processes were alright. Now to the part on why I'm writing the review in the first place. Attached are the text messages which are in CST. First of all, I was not aware of business hours, since that was never communicated to me in the first place. If she stated early on in our interactions I would have been able to better respect her time. She said "The cake will be delivered around 5" and then she said "It will be before 6:30." Again, I didn't mind since I was in no rush for the cake. Checking in for a cake that I PAID for should not be an issue. I was not nagging at her frequently. I checked in on the cake for a total of 2 times. Once on Tuesday, and was informed she would make it the day of. I was like cool okay and right after I just wanted to confirm, the cake would be delivered at the appropriate time and that was it on Tuesday. On Wednesday the only time I texted her to check in on the cake was in the afternoon asking if it would be still there around five and told her good luck since it seems like a long drive. THATS IT. She blew up on me out of nowhere which caught me off guard since I have been nothing but nice to her. She could have said all this information in a way that was not condescending or unprofessional. The cake was delivered timely and there were no complaints about the quality of the cake. I just wished she had communicated everything to me in an appropriate manner without an attitude. read more

Special shout out to Kindra once again for doing such a phenomenal job on my son's 7th Birthday cake!! I go to her every year for his birthday cake and she always succeeds my expectations!! Her work speaks for itself, it came out Beautiful!! The top basketball layer was Vanilla with fresh strawberries and the bottom half was Tres Leches!!! It truly tasted even better than it looks!! I actually did not retain a service because of the poor customer service and lack of bedside manners I was given when only asking for a quote. I'm not in the Baking industry, which is why one reaches out to what you feel or believe is a professional for guidance or suggestions especially when you see such great ratings, maybe I caught this person on a bad day maybe she was exhausted. Maybe she was tired. Whatever her deal was, she should deal with it on off hours honestly she did not leave me with any Desire to order a cake from her. Well, I have to admit that this place does bake great custom cakes and cupcakes. It was a little difficult to place an order with them cuz they really don't have a walk-in storefront where you can see the baked goods or try anything. I guess everything is by their reputation and by their past history. So you do everything by phone and text, mostly by text. You send them a design, quantity of what you want, and when you need it by and they get back to you with the price. Kindra was my contact person. She's a no nonsense type of person (sorry Kindra) and will just tell you like it is. But she delivered when she said she would and everything was as I asked. I ordered a 1/4 sheet banana split cake with a computerized image on it and 36 Red Egg and Ginger chocolate cupcakes. The cake was delicious-very moist and tasty. Got inquiries for where did the cake come from and who made it plus others were saying is was the best cake that they ever had. My only negative is that the computer image came out a bit dark and my grandson's face was a tad green looking. Considering the short turnaround time I had and gave them, I was very happy. As a customer who does not work in the field, it should be expected that there will be many questions or concerns in order to have that perfect cake that you imagined for your special occasions. There should be no need for rude comments and retaliations just for simply asking for clarifications to your order. This was not the case. Kindra was rude, short tempered, had no time for her customers, and pretty much is a ticking time bomb. I sent her a text to try to place an order for a babyshower cake and of course I had questions, like any customers would. I'm not the expert here so why was it so difficult for her to understand that I would have questions and would not be able to provide her exactly what I wanted from the beginning?? It finally got to the point where I called her out on her attitude and that's of course where she got defensive and started belittling me. Her cake may be good but unfortunately, i did not get a chance to try it. I've posted pics of our chat for proof in case she decides to reply and get defensive like all her other negative comments. We had such a great experience with Bake My Day. The custom cake we ordered looked better than I had hoped. It was the perfect cake for a murder Mystery set in a winery. Clear communication requires the message is understood by the receiver (in this case, the customer). What I appreciated about my interaction with this company is the timely response. However, I did not appreciate the representative's negative attitude when I asked for clarification on the details of a quote. The person was condescending and did not take responsibility for their communication. Instead, it was my lack of understanding, to which they said, "it clearly is." When helping a customer understand a policy or process, typically, you stay away from statements like "I'm sorry you do not understand." Comments like "I'm sorry you feel I'm speaking down to you because I have to repeat myself so many times" and "I've been doing this for several years and I have never once had this issue, so I don't think that I am having a communication error. Let's just say customer service isn't their strong suite. I called to schedule a cake for my sisters birthday and honestly everything was going fine but the head lady is really bad at communicating. I had to double text her at times for her to respond to me and confirm my cake order. Day of delivery, her driver couldn't find my house and gave me attitude for the maps direction bringing her to the wrong address. She was yelling and frustrated which I found really unprofessional so to make it easier on her I walked out to the street to look for her. For the cake, it was okay, nothing special. You can see in the photos what I wanted versus what I got. It would of been nicer if she applied more butterflies and pearls. Since I paid $90, I assumed the attention to detail would be better. I like the Asian cakes from JJ Bakery, Dimond Bakery, etc, or lady M cakes, or Korean cakes. These cakes are 5 times sweeter than Asian Cakes.
