I'm a long time fan of BBM. They no longer sell in NJ (womppp) so when I stumbled upon their kiosk in Soho I knew this was a MUST. A six pack. of cupcakes was the perfect snack! I was so excited to come here yesterday after my doctors appointment. This location is small but they have all their items in display. The woman working the window was nice and friendly. She got my latest and greatest cupcakes packed with a card, tattoos and stickers (which my son loved). She charged me right away i was literally there 2 mins and headed on the train back home. Ordered my cupcakes 8 days ago FedEx kept them longer and just delivered them after 8 days in transit. I understand things happen. (Weather etc). But there wasn't any weather issues. I ordered cupcakes for my son's birthday 3/9. Delivery said 3/9. I tracked the package and it said 3/10. Very disappointed. They offered a $15 gift card. I asked for a 50% refund of $100.95 They refunded the whole amount and requested FedEx to return the package. So now no cup cakes period. I explained to my son that the delivery 1st was delayed. He was now expecting them a day later. I then have to explain to him that they canceled the order completely and he would not be receiving anything. It ruined the special day. I wish someone would explain the hype of Melissa cupcakes to me. I've tried them time and time again but they're adorable and people love to bring them to parties, but they're not very good. Festive colors, lots of flavors and gluten free options, but the flavors consistently taste artificial and like they're store bought from a grocery shelf. My gf and I had the 25 variety cupcake set from Baked by Melissa. We really like the different flavors and the moistness of the cupcakes. The bite sized chunks makes it easy to eat without the guilt of consuming a single full sized cupcake. My only issue is that I wished there was more variety in taste because at some point all of the cupcakes started to taste the exact same. Similarly, it would be great if the 25 pack came with more different types - I'm obviously not asking for 25 unique ones but maybe 10-12 would be better than just 7 (which is what I counted). Overall, I probably won't be trying this place again but I do recommend it to others as it is definitely worth trying out! read more

The location we went to in SoHo was really a small store front! And it is "cashless"- you can only use your credit card. I have mixed feelings about that- but I get kit- for safety sake and processing- it's way easier not to have cash. My daughter loves these little cupcakes so I let her buy them. Also at this kiosk you can't buy one- you either have to get 3 or 6 etc. I'm sure they want to make it worth their while to have the person use credit cards! This location is a tiny stand/counter that customers walk up to for purchases to-go. There is no indoor space for customers. Due to the set up at this store, they only sell pre-packaged sets of cupcakes. You can't choose your own mix of cupcakes. I haven't had Baked by Melissa in a long time & got an all-stars pack. Cupcakes are very bright colors (lots of food coloring) and flavors were just ok on most of them. Because they are pre-packed, they were a little gummy/sticky from the moisture trapped in the plastic container so I didn't love the texture. read more

There's no where to go inside, pretty much just a window to walk up to and order, like a food stand or food truck. There was no line when we went, which was convenient because you do order on the sidewalk and it would've sucked to be in people's way. We split a box of 6. I got red velvet and matcha. They were super cute in a little packaging, like you bought them like that. 3 stars because the cakes are really small. I guess that's the novelty of it, but I feel like you can't really savor something that is smaller than an Oreo. You pop one in your mouth, say it's good, but don't get a second taste. In addition to being itty bitty, they come out to $1 each, which isn't the best deal for something that small. For what it is: It is just a stand, small outpost, a couple gals serving cupcakes. There isn't even a walk in. You stay on the sidewalk, rain, snow, sun hot weather and slightly above, behind a barrier you look at the menu of prices, menu of choices which there are many and you order. I seen many Baked by Melissa outlets throughout the City. I gave them my first try at this location and I don't know if I should also put this review under Ample Hills Creamery of Baked by Melissa. Haha, because I ordered their collaboration of Summer of Love. A mix in of ice cream and rainbow cupcake. Since I already did a review for the ice cream creamery and I ordered the mix here. I liked the mix in. It is a very good combo. The mix of the rainbow cupcake with the ice cream made for an even mix though the ice cream was more prevalence. The rainbow factor made the mix no more tastier than an average cupcake. I mean it wasn't fruity or whatever rainbow taste like. Just average cupcake in average ice cream. But... Cutest little stand matched with tiny bite sized cupcakes. They look like mini muffin tops with different flavors. The flavors though aren't just flavors though, they have little decorations and flavored frosting, filling. It's a bite sized party in your mouth! I had the Baked By Melissa cupcakes a few years ago when I visited New York so when I saw this tiny window store in Soho I thought it looked like a nice treat. I ordered a Sugar Cookie cupcake and a Tye Dye cupcake. It was $2. I knew these were tiny but I think they've gotten tinier. It's basically $1 a bite here. I use the term bite loosely because I think some people would consider these cupcakes less than 1 bite. Two of them is less of a treat and more of a tease. This is the new location across the street from the old Baked by Melissa. I thought they were closed, scared me! Baked by Melissa offers the world smallest cup cakes in bite sizes and apparently is one major attractions in NYC. They have so many different flavors and they are so delicate and cute. Now they also offer gluten free options and macarons. Baked by Melissa's cupcakes are pretty but also super rich and delicious. They are not cheap, $1 per cupcake, comes in 1/3/6/12/25. It's $20 for 25 cupcakes. As they're so small, I guess eating one won't ruin anyone's diet. Therefore, I recommend. I also like this location in SoHo because I wasn't hard to find a parking. I was there around 8 on a weekday and found a parking around the corner right away. read more

This place really fell off. It was a cool concept when it came out and now they are trying to do to much and charging too much for it. The cupcakes are good but every bite is $1 which is just got worth it. These cupcakes really aren't that special. Now they're doing muffins. I thought it was a cool idea and I went to get a sampler box which they took out of the freezer so I couldn't even eat them right away. When they finally defrosted I tried all of them and a few were dry but the others were good. Still nothing special for the money they are charging. Wouldn't get them again. read more

I've probably had this twice before writing this review and from what I remembered, it was pretty good but the value of what I'm getting was disappointing. To get started, I do love the taste of these. They're really good, which is why the stars only goes to the taste of it. However, it throws me off to see how much they cost. They're just bite size cup cakes that a lot of us go for the presentation. But for 1$ a piece? I can get a cupcake for 2$ and they're 3x the size. Now here comes the judgements of quality over quantity. I understand that they probably use ingredients that are expensive to have to sell cupcakes that I can digest in 3 minutes, but it really makes you think how much you're spending on small cupcakes. Le bf ordered me 25 mini cupcakes when he knew I was visiting NYC. I am a huge cupcake person and this place didn't disappoint. He ordered me an assortment of the Tie-Dye, Mint Cookie and Caramel Cone. My ultimate favorite was the Tie-Dye followed by the Mint Cookie. When I get cupcakes, I normally stick with the plain vanilla type. What really surprised me was the frosting to cupcake ratio. It was perfect. Normally I find cupcakes are topped with too much frosting. I end up having to scrape most of it off before eating them. However, this was not the case with these mini cupcakes from Baked by Melissa. I was able to pop one in my mouth and have the perfect frosting to dough ratio. I enjoyed them so much that I ate about 18 myself before sharing with others. We just happened upon this place when we got off the subway so why not give it a try. It's perfect bite size cupcakes for your giant size sweet tooth. There were 2 of us so of course we got a 6 pack but we only ate one each, They were delicious, I had the Elvis(peanut butter & banana) and my bro ate the Red Velvet. This spot is basically a walk-up only location and you can easily miss it. Cupcakes are teeny-tiny and $1 a piece. They change flavors seasonally and currently they have a chocolate pretzel cupcake, which I'm kicking myself for not ordering. The cakes are good, but nothing to write home about. The woman working stated not to put them in the fridge, as that will dry them out. But you can put them in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. Good to know! I still love this place - in fact, whenever I am in New York (which is rare nowadays) I make a specific point of visiting Baked by Melissa so I can get my cupcake fix. I was glad to see that she returned to this tiny vestibule, as it the no-frills approach just works. It is easy to grab a box of six on your way to work (as I usually did) or home. The cupcakes themselves are fantastic. She usually offers about 15 flavors per month, including a mystery flavor. This month, that cupcake was "snowball" flavored, and I have to say it could easily be one of my favorites if it was available year-round, as it featured moist vanilla cake and cream frosting, sprinkles, and a marshmallow, all packed into one-powerful bite. I also get the chocolate-chip pancake and cookie dough cupcakes every time. These are bite-sized cupcakes, so I usually buy a box of six, which is enough for a full snack, and allows you to mix/match and try a variety of flavors. read more

But when I asked for a receipt, the girl at the window rolled her eyes. I could hear here opening the receipt machine and slamming it shut. She then gave me a receipt that was for $2.00 the ice cream cost $5.50 " honestly this isn't your receipt she said, do you still want it?" Um yes I still want it. Then she pulled out another receipt for $10.00 So did my charge get charged $10.00? Can you email me my receipt I asked. "No" The name on the receipt says Natalie R.
