I've been coming to Baker's Crust for years, both at this location and in Carytown, and always leave full and happy. The restaurant is beautiful, spacious, and feels slightly more intimate and upscale than a typical casual dining spot. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the food is always delicious. The servers are very knowledgeable and friendly, and don't rush you if you're looking to have a leisurely meal. I almost always get the super decadent seafood pasta or the chicken and cheddar sandwich with housemade chips, but on my last visit I decided to try something new. As it was still brunch time, my friend and I both tried a vanilla pear mimosa, and it was to die for! I would like that in a fountain, please. We shared two appetizers, the crab mac and cheese and the bruschetta with prosciutto, and both were amazing. The macaroni was creamy and perfectly baked with heaps of crab meat. The bruschetta was much lighter but still luxurious; there is something special about the thick balsamic they use. We burst out laughing when our entrees arrived because we were already full, but of course we dove in anyway. I had the Charleston chicken and avocado sandwich with fries, and it may be my new favorite. The chicken was perfectly crispy, the applewood smoked bacon and honey buerre blanc added a rich sweetness, and the fresh avocado surprisingly tied it all together. I am in charge of ordering box lunches for my office on a weekly basis, it is only for 10 people, so not an overwhelming order. I ordered 10 box lunches and here are the results: All of the sandwiches (7) that were on white/sourdough bread, the bread was stale and not really edible. The others that were on baguettes, were difficult to eat as the bread was very dense and difficult to eat. The website stated: "All boxed sandwiches come with housemade Parmesan chips and a cookie". The food here is great. It was our first time. We didn't order much just some appetizers because we were going to the funnybone right after. We order the pork belly sliders, fresh cut fries and chicken tacos. The pork belly sliders were amazing. The bread was soft, the sauce was great. We ordered it without coleslaw. The French fries were great too. It comes with some type of cheese sauce. They didn't put a lot so it didn't make your fries soggy. The chicken tacos were awesome. So currently I'm partaking in a lifestyle change and I have limited food options. Which means I can't have a waffle swimming in syrup or a fluffy biscuit smothered in butter. My husband and I decided to keep my sane by venturing to Baker's Crust. There were mixed reviews for Baker's Crust, but I felt as if the atmosphere, bar and food were very welcoming. The hubs ordered a gluttonous wafflewhich and let's say he devoured it! While me being the born again foodie that I am ordered a 2 egg omelette. The omelette hit the spot! It was very filling and had the best egg and cheese combination I've had in a while! We also sipped a few signature mimosas since we were sitting at the bar, and it doesn't feel right to sit at a bar empty handed. We eat here together weekly. Usually Sunday's which is a fairly busy day for them. The wait time isn't usually unreasonable if any. It was a great day and we actually ate outside. Typically I order waffles, scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, potatoes. But lately bro have been enjoying the chicken and waffles option with nice portions of boneless chicken breasts not what you may typically think of with pieces of fried chicken. And he forgot our bread. We ordered the special, Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos, and the Asiago Chicken. Unfortunately, prices have changed (the entrees were raised ~$3) since I left Richmond last March-April. The best place to celebrate a gluten free birthday! A friend shared their gluten free menu with me and I knew it was a great place to take my comfort food loving family where they could have a hearty meal and I didn't have to worry about food allergies. Recently visited Baker's Crust for the first time in a while. I always remembered loving this restaurant but, after my recent visit I can't really recall why. The food wasn't terrible or anything there just really wasn't anything special about it. I got the pick two and got the chicken sandwich on whole grain and then the mushroom and Gouda soup. Food was great however they are getting one star from me because the service was absolute TRASH. My friend and I had to wait an hour just for anyone just to acknowledge us and to take our orders. When we were finally able to put in our orders we had to wait another 30 minutes just for our drinks alone. On top of that there was a group of about five or six people who were seated about 20-30 minutes after us who got their drinks, appetizers, and meals and paid for their food and left before we were even served one drink. We ordered appetizers with our drinks and everything was served at once; our meals, our drinks, and appetizers; basically rushing us out of the establishment even thought WE were the ones waiting for over an hour. Hearing about the one downtown I was excited to try this place but obviously this one at this location only caters to a certain group because everybody that belonged to that group got service way before we did. On top of that the manager had the nerve to have an attitude with us and tried to call security on us because we were voicing our issues. Never again will I ever eat at this establishment. I requested hot chocolate but he said they didn't have any but he could heat up some milk and add chocolate syrup (later I saw hot chocolate on the menu near the desserts). Baker's crust is a great all around restaurant for just about anything. On top of all of that there crepes are very good! I have had a couple of different entrees of there menu. The last time that I am writing this review about is for there fish and chips.Durring this visit I had a couple of other entrees including the tavern chips which consists of chips with cheese bacon and ranch sauce. There where very good and I recommend them. I also because I was being a starch hog this trip had a bowl of their potatoe soup. This was a very hearty soup that had nice Chucks of potatoes in it. The fish and chips where very good the fish was fresh but still flavorful. The fries where seasoned pretty good with a nice crisp to them. Amazing food and I love going to Baker's Crust for Brunch it's all delicious and satisfying

My mother and I dined at the Bakers Crust in Short Pump yesterday during lunch and we ordered the shrimp chili tacos that came with black beans. When we started to eat the beans, we noticed that there was some sort of meat in it and the waiter told us it was bacon. We were very distraught because we do not consume pork for religious reasons. The waiter offered us pasta salad as an exchange, but in general was not sincere in his apologies and did not take the dish off of our check. Additionally, the menu should have specified that that black beans are NOT vegetarian. Many people do not consume pork/meat -- not just for religious concerns, but those that are vegetarians or vegans. It just said "a side of black beans." Naturally, no one would ever think black beans would have meat in it. They would think it is JUST a side of black beans and vegetarian. Furthermore, people who do not consume pork can get VERY sick just from the juices or eating it accidentally. We are very upset by how things played out yesterday and hope Bakers Crust will be able to rectify our concerns. read more
