Came here to end a date night with my wife. We found this place by complete accident. After walking into this little cafe, we saw their large selection of pastries. We ordered a chai latte, baklovah, mini turtle cheesecase, and a coffee mousse. You can tell everything is made fresh here. The chai latte was great! Authentic and full of flavor. The coffee mousse was the right balance of flavor, and also tasting refreshing. The baklovah was also very good. The only thing that wasnt our favorite was the turtle cheesecake, as it was too sweet with the caramel. A bit less caramel would have been better. I was here once long ago pre-covid and was quite impressed with the wide variety of sweets available. Honestly, it's been so long ago I can't remember exactly what I got then but I remember it was a good experience. Today, I was looking for a sweet treat for my good friend and her family for their kindness this week and was so glad to find the bakery open after a week of artic blast. I hadn't asked but it seemed like they were not affected. The cases were full of goodies to choose from. Everything was appealing to the eyes, I was initially challenged in what selection to make. For the sweet treat for my friend and her family, I decided to stick to the fruit tarts. Something sweet and healthy. For my neighbor, the pistachio logs caught my eye. I asked if they were hard on the teeth and the guy gave us a couple of pieces of the black mulberry with pistachio to try. These were sold by the pound so I decided on a mix of black mulberry with pistachio and pomegranate rose. It turns out these are turkish delights! I've only had commercially made ones but these are handmade and way better. The guy gave me 2 additional pieces to try - hazelnut with pistachio and the pomegranate rose. I asked how long the mini desserts will last in the fridge and he told us about 3 - 4 days. So for ourselves, my husband wanted the fruit tart, the peach creme brulee and coffee mousse caught my eye. I've had enough sweets for today so I'm looking forward to trying these tomorrow! They also have gelato! Definitely have to come back to try many more sweets next time. read more

There's always something new to try here. My favorite item here is their pistachio cannoli. Not too sweet, not too thick, just the exact amount of perfect. This place is great! I have tried a handful of their desserts, some sweeter than others. I tried their rolled croissant in hazelnut, pistachio, and strawberry. They were pretty filled, but I wish that the pastry was flakier. It was also very sweet, so I would not be able to finish a whole one in one sitting. My all-time favorite here is the fruit tart. I recommend you get the bigger fruit tart as it is the best bang for your buck! It's creamy but has a great texture from the crust which is balanced out with tart fruit such as berries, strawberries, and kiwi. I've taken all my friends here and all of them rave about the fruit tart as much as I do after they have tried it. They usually sell out by the end of the day, so I recommend you go a couple of hours before closing. The workers there are great! They answer any questions you may have and are super sweet. Turkish delights galore! My sister and her friends come here all the time and i definitely see why! We got the Knafeh(both type), the fruit tart, and a mini choco chip cannoli. Everything was so delicious! She says her favorite was the fruit tart. She and her friends get it every time that they go. I'm a dessert connoisseur/fanatic because one I love sweets and 2 I bake myself so I may be a little more critical than others. As I walked in to Baklovah Bakery, I was greeted and the aroma of the place was heaven. The place was very clean and welcoming! Aside from one of the young girls seeming to want to talk more to her coworker and be on her phone more, the service was good. The selection of goodies was quite extensive and for me who has a hard time with large menus, especially when they all looked appetizing, this was particularly difficult. There was so much to choose from! I wanted to try all of them but to try and keep my girlish figure at a decent size and not to spend 1 whole paycheck in there, I chose several: the walnut baklava, the traditional pistachio baklava, the hazelnut and pistachio macaroon, the Swiss roll, and the textured kadayif. I thought the price was a little high for dessert but considering the workmanship and the pride that goes into it, then I guess the price is just right. The macaroons and swiss cake were $4.99 each and the baklava was $11.99/pound, the kadayif was $3.99. I spent nearly $40. So this better excite my taste buds and make my tummy happy! Walnut and pistachio baklava has to be, by far, THE best baklava I have had! They aren't shy of the nuts and it was jammed packed with it! It was crispy, gooey, you get the pistachio, you get the walnut and then that sweetness from the honey! It was utter perfection! I think I could eat the whole tray if j could! The Swiss roll was very moist, not dry and not overly sweet which was a bonus! The only thing that kind of threw me off for a split second because I wasn't expecting it was the raspberry jelly/preserve in the middle. Typically Swiss rolls are chocolate cake with a white frosting but this was chocolate sponge cake with a chocolate frosting and raspberry jelly more of a jelly roll in my opinion. To each their own; everyone's interpretation can be different. It was still very good, I'm just not sure worth $4.99, maybe more like $3.50 at the most. Now on the macaroons which I can eat by the pound full! The macaroons were so incredibly beautiful and I didn't really want to eat them. They had a chocolate leaf on top with other garnishes which complimented the chocolate. The hazelnut macaroon was the least favorite of mine. I think it's because the macaroon itself had a coffee flavor to it. The cream in the middle definitely had the hazelnut flavor but the coffee flavor overpowered everything else. The texture of the macaroon was spot on, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside and had those feets you look for in a macaroon. However, I couldn't get over the coffee flavor of the actual cookie itself! The center cream was divine! Maybe a dollop of Nutella in the center would take it over? The pistachio macaroon was good as well, edible in my opinion. The macaroon, again was perfectly baked! The only issue I had was that I had zero pistachio flavor. In addition there was some sort of preserve in the middle that I couldn't distinguish. Is it pear? Apple? I wasn't certain. The jam was very yummy though, don't get me wrong and I'd like to have that on my toast but it just wasn't pistachio! The cream didn't have a flavor I could distinguish along with the cookie itself. If you like to try different things you're not familiar with, try the kadayif. It's not overly sweet and there's a subtle ness to the flavor. You warm it up for about 30 sec in the microwave and put some very light simple syrup or honey on it (couldn't tell)...it was really good! The texture had a little crunch to it as well from the way they made it. Overall, I would recommend a late night, after dinner dessert trip to here! Baklovah is most assuredly a different sort of place. It offers an assortment of desserts and goodies, as well as delicious tea and Turkish coffee. I have been coming to this place since it opened and am impressed at how it has grown since they started. When I first visited, the shop was smaller, which encompassed the entrance area, the two cake refrigerators and a bit of the extended counter. Their pastry selection has also grown. My favorites are the Turkish coffee, their cookies, tea, and regular desserts. On the visit before my last one, I ordered their mango mousse and a small tea. The tea options can be a tea for one or larger tea for two. We ordered the smaller portion and there was still enough for a second cup. It really is a good amount. Another flavorful beverage, as mentioned, is their Turkish coffee, which contains a generous number of spices and heated in the traditional cezve or ibrik. It is the only time I will not drink coffee with cream. As for the cookies, they have a variety of traditional cookies, as well as nuts and baklava. There is so much, it is hard to choose. As a side note, I want to add that I debated giving them five stars, due to my last experience. Beverages were good and generally; their service has been excellent. Staff is friendly, helpful, and patient, but not for this visit. There was line for what we assumed were the desserts and goodies, so we by passed and went to the counter since we were ordering only coffee. There was a young lady at the counter who pointedly ignored us and after a few minutes, I guess because we were not getting the message, called to another customer in the pastry line to see if she was ready. In other words, pointing out, I guess, that we had skipped the line (or were out of line...;p). Frankly, she could have simple stated that, but she did not. Instead, we got sour looks and a reprimand through the acknowledgement of another customer in line while pointedly ignoring us. I have been to Baklovah enough times to know this is not the usual counter person attitude, but I would like to state, that for someone purchasing for the first time, this would have colored their experience. I first discovered this place a few years ago and have since been back quite a few times for their cakes. If you want to be the hero of the next house party, or potluck you attend, pick up one of Baklovah's decadent, moist, and always fresh cakes. I think I've bought each type of cake they make now, and each and every one of them was a huge hit wherever I happened to be going. The Ferrero Rocher, strawberry shortcake, tres leches with almond slices covering the sides, chocolate fudge, their famous "Bounds" cake with mounds candy bars on top, AND inside, a Snickers cake, black forest cake topped with cherries, AND cherries on the inside of the cake too!
