    Reheated old potatoes ewwwwwwwwuh
    Marlena Z.

Came in this am around 2am. After a long night in the emergency room. The man working ignored me when I came in. A friend walked in 6-7 after I'd already had been waiting and was greeted and seated immediately!! I had to go to counter after waiting at the front. Finally went to where he was standing, at the counter. I ordered 2 eggs, extra crispy bacon, pancakes and a small side of potatoes $26!! The breakfast was 15.00 plus 1.75 in taxes plus an %18 tip $2.38 And the entire thing was burnt! Only ONE egg, Potatoes inedible, bacon flaccid and no flavor! I'M SOO DISAPPOINTED AND PISSED! For that much$$ at the very least the food could've been edible and the missing egg ridiculous. 2 SMALL pieces of bacon too!! Unfortunately I'm not going back. And I loved this place. Also the man working was SASSY! I don't like being ignored when it's clearly AN EMPTY RESTAURANT the TV was really loud too. At 2am. Booo

Their food quality has gone down. I was so disappointed. Hubby and I came for dinner and I was looking forward to my meal. It looked great. The meat loaf was good. I was not a fan of the onion strings, so I just pushed them aside. But the mashed potatoes were so watered down. Take a close look. You can clearly see it. It did not taste good. The broccoli was good, but it could have been cooked a bit more. It was not al dente as I'm sure they intended. So disappointed.

I was here for a presentation. Parking was abundant. Service from the door to the end of the visit was kind and courteous. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The lodge feeling was very comforting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food is diner style in that it features breakfast and dinner plates with various cream pies displayed in the front case as you enter.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This black bear diner location is magnificent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Always being served by the kindest, and most patient people. The food is always cooked to perfection, comes out quick, and we never feel rushed. I've been to the black bear in Oakley and Pleasanton and they are both exceptional quality!!

Our server was Abel. Tri tip was perfect, orange juice was refreshing, bears were adorable. Absolutely enjoyed each moment here, thank you for having us!

Came here for Sunday brunch and figured it was a good time to finally try this spot. Parking was super easy since it is part of a larger complex. When we walked in there was a short line to put our name down, but the wait was only about five minutes at 10 am. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself has very cozy diner vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once we were seated we got our menus right away. I ordered the chicken sausage egg white scramble with hash browns and gluten free toast which was a small extra charge. The food was fine but definitely felt more like quantity over quality. Nothing bad, just not very memorable. They bring the check to you and you pay up front. The whole experience felt very quick and in and out. Overall it was an okay spot. Convenient and easy but probably not a place I would go out of my way for again.

A solid 4 star experience at Black Bear Diner. The food is decent and portions are very generous. The service is always good and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the atmosphere is nice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - definitely one of my reliable go-to spots

First time at this location. It's easy to get to since it's close to the freeway, and there's lots of parking available. My husband and I came for a late dinner and ordered the Chicken Avocado Club Sandwich and Tri-Tip Dip Sandwich. For our sides we got French Fries and Mac & Cheese. Our food came out pretty quick and we each enjoyed our food. There was a good amount of flavor and filling in each of our sandwiches. Fries were hot and the Mac & Cheese was nice and thick. Service overall was average. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cleanliness could be better. When taken to our table there were food crumbs on both sides of the booth seats[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. There was no way that you didn't see the food crumbs on the seating, and the employee didn't take us to another table nor did he have the seating wiped down. So instead I took the napkins from our silverware setting and dusted off the food crumbs myself.

Food was good breakfast food. Service could be faster or slightly more attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was casual and same as every Black Bear Diner I have been to. I wished it could be slightly brighter inside[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Parking was easy, with 10 spots of so at both sides of the restaurants. Also at the end sharing some parking spots with a local motel. Will come again.

Been coming to this restaurant for a long time. Food is always consistent - taste, quantity, and quality. You can always expect that if you have been dining at Black Bear Diner before. Staff are friendly and courteous. They are helpful and all of them greet you with a warm friendly smile. You feel good dining at this restaurant. This visit was having breakfast with my wife. We enjoyed it.

We came here after our hiking at Little Yosemite in Sonul, California. I came with my wife, my son and his girlfriend. We are celebrating her birthday. We ordered California Omelette, Corned Beef, Bacon Omelette and Sausage Omelette. They are all good and the servings are big so we ended up taking out some. The place is very conducive for dining and the service is very efficient. We gave a 20% tip because we were all satisfied. She always check on us and asking what we need. We are definitely very satisfied with the ambiance, service and the food. We are coming back eventhough its 50 miles from us.

    My wife's meal.

The hash browns were undercooked (underneath the top crispy part) and the oil the food was cooked in, tasted stale. The portion size was definitely on the bigger end and the omelet was stuffed with veggies. Would come back on an off peak day to try a few of their lunch options!

For anyone coming, the parking can be really bad as it shares probably 20 or so spots with several other restaurants. It's near impossible to park nearby with the alternative of parking near the Panera's or even the target. There's plenty of tables and seats inside, and it was pretty slow when we dined in. Convenient televisions on two different sides where all the workers were casually watching, and quite the chatter in the kitchen where they're all watching the World Cup. That doesn't really affect service however as they're quite attentive when called for. We ordered the salted fish and chicken fried rice, and the medium bbq platter with char sound soy sauce chicken. All very delicious! The only thing is that they can bit on the pricier side with $20 for the fried rice and $30 for the bbq plate. Overall, I thought grand cafe definitely scratched our itch for Cantonese style dining experience. It typically comes with great food, good service, and a bit of nostalgia from being from the Bay Area.

My brother and I met a few friends here for dinner on 11/28/2025. At around 7:15pm, the place was completely full. Fortunately, our friends arrived a little earlier and secured a table. The interior was clean. A couple TVs on the walls were showing different sporting and news programs. Their menu featured a wide array of non-Americanized Cantonese fare. We decided to do family style and got half a dozen dishes to share. They were: Beef Filet with Mixed Mushrooms, 1lb of BBQ Pork, Fujian Fried Rice, Beef Chow Fun with Gravy, House Pan Fried Noodles, and Salted Pork Bone and Peanut Porridge. Our food arrived in about 15 minutes. Overall, I was impressed by quality and authenticity. Despite the slightly higher price point comparing to other similar restaurants, they didn't skimp on anything. The rice and noodle dishes were loaded with delicious toppings, and the taste was on point. The BBQ pork and the beef filet dish were both fantastic. The meat/fat ratio of the BBQ pork was just right, and the beef filet cubes were tender and flavorful. The porridge was just okay. My mom's version still reigns supreme. Service we received was very good. Our server was very friendly and gave us helpful suggestions. She did forget our iced water, but I am willing to overlook that. I got a chance the chat with staff before we left, they were all very genuine and friendly people. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience here. The food was authentic and tasty, and the staff were friendly and helpful. If you want authentic Cantonese food but don't want to pay the super premium price, this is definitely a good option for you. I will return. 4 solid stars.
