    Black Bear diner welcome sign

I was here for a presentation. Parking was abundant. Service from the door to the end of the visit was kind and courteous. The lodge feeling was very comforting. Food is diner style in that it features breakfast and dinner plates with various cream pies displayed in the front case as you enter.

This black bear diner location is magnificent. Always being served by the kindest, and most patient people. The food is always cooked to perfection, comes out quick, and we never feel rushed. I've been to the black bear in Oakley and Pleasanton and they are both exceptional quality!!

Came here for Sunday brunch and figured it was a good time to finally try this spot. Parking was super easy since it is part of a larger complex. When we walked in there was a short line to put our name down, but the wait was only about five minutes at 10 am. The restaurant itself has very cozy diner vibes. Once we were seated we got our menus right away. I ordered the chicken sausage egg white scramble with hash browns and gluten free toast which was a small extra charge. The food was fine but definitely felt more like quantity over quality. Nothing bad, just not very memorable. They bring the check to you and you pay up front. The whole experience felt very quick and in and out. Overall it was an okay spot. Convenient and easy but probably not a place I would go out of my way for again.

First time at this location. It's easy to get to since it's close to the freeway, and there's lots of parking available. My husband and I came for a late dinner and ordered the Chicken Avocado Club Sandwich and Tri-Tip Dip Sandwich. For our sides we got French Fries and Mac & Cheese. Our food came out pretty quick and we each enjoyed our food. There was a good amount of flavor and filling in each of our sandwiches. Fries were hot and the Mac & Cheese was nice and thick. Service overall was average. Cleanliness could be better. When taken to our table there were food crumbs on both sides of the booth seats. There was no way that you didn't see the food crumbs on the seating, and the employee didn't take us to another table nor did he have the seating wiped down. So instead I took the napkins from our silverware setting and dusted off the food crumbs myself.

Food was good breakfast food. Service could be faster or slightly more attentive. Ambiance was casual and same as every Black Bear Diner I have been to. I wished it could be slightly brighter inside. Parking was easy, with 10 spots of so at both sides of the restaurants. Also at the end sharing some parking spots with a local motel. Will come again.

Been coming to this restaurant for a long time. Food is always consistent - taste, quantity, and quality. You can always expect that if you have been dining at Black Bear Diner before. Staff are friendly and courteous. They are helpful and all of them greet you with a warm friendly smile. You feel good dining at this restaurant. This visit was having breakfast with my wife. We enjoyed it.

We came here after our hiking at Little Yosemite in Sonul, California. I came with my wife, my son and his girlfriend. We are celebrating her birthday. We ordered California Omelette, Corned Beef, Bacon Omelette and Sausage Omelette. They are all good and the servings are big so we ended up taking out some. The place is very conducive for dining and the service is very efficient. We gave a 20% tip because we were all satisfied. She always check on us and asking what we need. We are definitely very satisfied with the ambiance, service and the food. We are coming back eventhough its 50 miles from us.

Kudos to Black Bear Diner for giving us a great dining experience, wonderful service, great comfort food, a suitable atmosphere, right when we needed it. Our server was attentive, and as always a great time.

Great selection for menu offerings. Sharing the tri-tip steak and eggs with my daughter. And an ube latte, ube matcha iced coffee and mango matcha. When it comes to the Bay Area's ube drinks, I'm always let down and I surprise myself when I do order it. Like tell me I'm lying when Starbucks' ube was a massive fail for me as a Filipino. Post- meal: steak was medium rare and juicy. My younger daughter was in heaven with her tri-tip and A1. Country potatoes were well seasoned. My daughter had club sandwich which she ate voraciously. She's not typically a sandwich person so this was a good sign! Our specialty drinks. Now, with the ube. The ube foam had the tiniest hint of ube flavor but it was more of a purple foam and didn't satisfy my craving. My younger daughter had the ube matcha and although she liked the ube foam, she kept asking me to ask for more because her drink only tasted like matcha. It was more of the same for my daughter who thought there wasn't enough mango in the mango matcha. If we don't finish our drinks, we usually take it home to go but we decided to leave ours. It's not enough to have a good presentation of specialty coffee drinks but the taste leaves one wanting. I want them to do good. There are better foams and syrups out there. Check out the syrup that Porto's uses for their ube matcha. There's great small batch syrups as well. Our waiter was lovely. You get the sense that this is possibly his family's business. If not, he definitely had pride in this restaurant and his work which leads me to believe that I would give this place a try again to eat their food and see if they've improved their coffee menu.

Unfortunately the food took a while to come out. So I sipped on our mimosa flight while we waited. Their flavors that day were cucumber elderberry, orange, peach, and pinapple. Even though the wait was extremely long, the staff continued to check on us. I ordered a simple breakfast - French toast, eggs, and bacon. And it was delicious. If you're looking for nice breakfast spot with friendly customer service, look no further.

Even when there were open spaces, you could park there because a vehicle or 2 were well over the parking stall lines. There isnt any street parking in the immediate area, if im not mistaken so arrive with enough time to park somewhere. There is outdoor seating available which was packed full of patrons enjoying their day. The inside has a sleek dark supper room look and vibe to it. The people dining inside were even dressed differently from the outside guests. We had some drinks that were reasonably priced. Not the best mule I've had this year but I cant complain.. We ordered the tuna tacos and crispy calamari for starters. Both were a great start to the evening. The tuna was fresh and the calamari came with a sweet heat sauce that left its mark on us.. my wife regularly orders lamb chops, so in comparison they held up in taste to many places but the portion size wasn't the heartiest. The salmon dish was a homerun and so was the jambalaya. Im a fan of wellingtons so I had to take the opportunity and I wasn't let down. They use a filet so the size cant be too big, realistically. Mashed potatoes and the sauce complimented the steak for a complete all around dish. We finished with a pineapple upside down cake. Dense but not too heavy with a nice sauce and ice cream on top. Very good experience and I didn't catch our waiter's name(an older latin gentleman) but he was very attentive and treated us like all stars. We appreciate the service he gave us and hope that every waiter lives up to the bar he set for us.

It's basically buffalo chicken stuffed in pocket bread. The dishes look great (see pics)! Fish and chips are ok, I found some burnt and dried fries but overall good tartar sauce and a little dry coleslaw. But fish is pretty good. The doozy scoozi is horrible in one word. The cook/chef for some reason drenched chicken in buffalo sauce. To me, it's almost looked like curry chicken. I asked my American wife did you order curry chicken by mistake? Then I tasted from her plate. The buffalo sauce is overpowering so the stuffing becomes inedible! I gave three stars as I like everything else in the restaurant, hospitality, friendliness, the server gave water bowl for our dogs (very nice!). I don't expect much from "American cuisine" (to me it's burger and sandwiches pretty much), but come on drenching chicken in buffalo sauce is a strict no no! If the cook is reading this, please contact me and I will teach you how to make curry chicken! Put that in the bread pocket, it will be your special menu item and I guarantee it will be an instant hit, way better than your version of "doozy scoozi". Anyway, so that summarizes the 3 stars!

The patio's a nice space, half-covered with fans, so it'll be great through summer. Service was attentive and fast, almost too fast. We ordered 2-3 apps and two entrees, and everything landed at once within 10-15 minutes. No real gap between courses, which meant no chance to actually finish the apps before the entrees showed up. But everything came out lukewarm, which was the main issue. The Brussels sprouts, meatball, and empanadas were all fairly tasty, but the meatball and empanada were room temp, which dulled the flavor. Same story with the entrees, chicken Milanesa and Lomo Saltado, both lukewarm. The Milanesa was thin, easy to eat, and the sauce worked well with it. The fries tasted frozen, not hand-cut, and on the Lomo Saltado the sauce made them soggy fast. Sauce itself ran a bit too salty. Steak in the Lomo Saltado was tender though, and generous on portion. Good space, good service energy, but the food execution needs work. Not somewhere I'd go out of my way to return to unless they fix the food temperature and the fries.
