A solid new pizza place. The service was super friendly and attentive, keep in mind there is a 20 percent service charge added to the bill, but they are very upfront about that. The patio area was extensive and covered. We had the fried olives (9/10) definitely recommend as well as the "tracksuit" pizza (8/10). The menu includes pizza, salads, charcuterie, and a fantastic dessert menu with some of the creamiest soft serve. The burgers were OUTSTANDING. We really liked it here when we went this past weekend to celebrate an early Father's Day. We're surprised by the low rating, but then again, we snagged a table inside and didn't have to deal with flies. We also know what to expect with the 20% gratuity situation since we were recently at L'Oco D'oro--it sucks that they don't trust their customers to tip well, so where we would normally tip 25%, we tip 20% because we really don't like feeling like our hand is forced. Anyway. The inside is pleasant--a nice, chill, airy space with a beautiful bar. Seating is limited so we were happy to be in the A/C. You order at the register and then they bring everything out to you. We very much appreciated the frozen negroni on all counts since you could 1) actually taste the booze in there and 2) they filled it to the rim (take note, Sour Duck proprietors!). The greens salad that we started with was a nice amount with a solid dressing and some more interesting ingredients than what you'd typically find. We got two pizzas: regular cheese and the little stinker, which was sausage, kale, and various cheeses. Both were excellent, but we have to say, *really* greasy. It's not very appetizing when your pizzas arrive with pools of oil on them--but otherwise, we loved the sauces, the toppings, and the crust. For dessert, the cold peanut butter was awesome on a hot day, but no ice cream? C'mon think about the kids! And the adults! Hopefully, we'll see something on the menu next time because there will definitely be a next time... ...since we definitely want to shoutout the service that we got here. It was extraordinary. Everyone from the guy taking our order at the register to the folks running our food to the ubiquitous manager-seeming guy was so nice, so helpful, and so friendly that it just made the atmosphere all the more pleasant to be in. That's saying a lot nowadays and it makes us want to come back. Pro tip because it seems like someone actually reads these reviews: if a customer is complaining about something, instead of publicly telling them in your reply to reach out and contact Bambino--thereby putting the onus on them when they have already tacitly done that with their review--you should reach out to them personally via Yelp messaging. In the 1,000+ reviews we have written, a restaurant has done that for us only, maybe, three times, but wow, what a difference it makes than the typical bromide response. We're not saying we need to be contacted--we're good! Four happy stars!--but just more of an FYI because these owners really do seem to care about quality service. In town visiting my daughter who lives here and she had heard great things about Bambino's Pizza. We struggled at parking, but finally found a tight spot. Found an inside table pretty quickly, but then sat there about 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. Finally ordered, but didn't receive our drinks for another 10 minutes. Then, the waiting began... we waited one hour 15 minutes for our pizza to arrive. The pizza was ice cold, not joking, not even slightly warm, but to the touch felt like it had been in the refrigerator. Because it was pushing TWO hours of being there, we asked for the pizza to go. So disappointed. Went back to our hotel and had the staff microwave it for us. It was actually good - but we would've enjoyed it much better at the restaurant. When we were walking out by the to-go area, there were three pizzas sitting on the counter waiting to be delivered to tables. No heating element or anything, THAT IS WHY THEIR PIZZAS ARE SERVED COLD! Let me set the scene...we walk in and it's got a super cute vibe and two different members of the staff greeted us right away. Check and check for vibe and staff, right? We ordered some cocktails that were fine, but nothing special. We figured we would get going with cheese sticks before ordering pizza, but those were also 50/50 at best. The breading had a decent flavor, but one cheese stick has NO cheese and the others were sort of half filled. The flavor was just meh. As we were discussing which pizza to get over our so-so drinks and cheese sticks, we just kept fighting a constant tide of flies. I mean...I think there were more flies than guests and staff combined. We were so disappointed that we closed out and left without even getting to the pizza. Also, to the person saying that paying a fair wage is the employers job... What exactly do you think they're trying to do here? If it wasn't transparent, it would have to be built into the food prices. They have to have a certain margin to not shut down. They can't magically manifest extra cash to pay a living wage. Great atmosphere with plenty of indoor and covered outdoor patio seating and large bar as well. Friendly staff as expected being part of the L'Oca d'Oro family. On a nice night, the patio can't be beat. But the atmosphere inside is pleasant when outside isn't possible. And the food! The olive app and beets app are incredible. The mushroom pie is right now my favorite pie, just beating out the white clam pie at Pepe's in New Haven. The Uncle Frankie is a thing of beauty too. Will try others but these keep calling out to us. And the cocktails are perfectly balanced and tasty. We can't go as often as we'd like. It is on the pricey side. I'll definitely come back here. The mi scuzi pizza was really tasty! It was crispy with smoked scamorza and the sesame seed adorned crust was different and good addition! My husband ordered the gluten free crust pretty pretty Gouda. The gf crust was quite tasty but a little thicker than the not gf option but still done really well. The potatoes were very slightly under but still good. I loved that they had gf options and na options for the drinks! The patio crush was tasty but make sure you mix it up to get the best of it! They have a nice outdoor patio which is pretty much all shaded (no fighting for the good spot!). You order at the counter and then the server brings stuff to your table. As much as I love that gratuity is already included, I hate that when you close out it suggests you adding more tip. I feel guilty and then add more. They don't do that at their nicer location, loca d oro, where the waitstaff does even more. All that to say, I'll definitely go back to try more pizza and dessert next time!!! read more

Molto bene Bambino!! Four of us came here last night for the first time. We could not have been happier, we tried four different pies and will be coming back to try the rest. The Copa Cabana's chewy crust was topped with an ample amount of sauce, copper and orange marmalade slices. Did it work? It was a marriage made in heaven.The Cacio Pepe pizza is a worthy medium for the classic Roman sauce. The Ceasar salad was fresh, with just right amount of cheese and topped with two large anchovies, and big crunchy croutons. We enjoyed a very good Multipulciano with our pizzas and look forward to trying some of the inventive cocktails next time. The service was friendly and efficient, the ambience is festive and welcoming. We didn't mind that a 20% charge was added to our bill as it is used for health insurance and providing the great servers with a living wage. Everything was delicious! My faves are the Little Stinker, Uncle Frankie, Pretty Pretty Gouda and Joe Mars! They have a vegan pie and offer a gf crust option. I will likely need to drop in for a frozen affogato regularly as it is amazingly tasty! The green salad was a great start to the meal as were the cheese sticks. Happy hour is a really good deal as all pies are half off. I emailed ahead of time as our party was a little larger (10) and they prepared tables for us on the patio. I was absolutely blown away by the pizzas at Bambino. My party ordered two: the Joe Mars/The Tracksuit and the Coppa Cabana. Both had wonderfully balanced flavor profiles. The marmalade on the Coppa Cabana was particularly delightful, and it far exceeded my already-high expectations after first trying The Tracksuit. The ingredients were of high quality and the pizzas were perfectly cooked. The service at Bambino was also excellent. The restaurant has a 20% service charge, and I was happy to pay it. The servers (who seem to rotate around rather than being assigned individual tables) stopped by regularly, and some asked our names when introducing themselves. The private parking lot at the restaurant had a row of spots marked as restricted to Bambino customers only, and there is also streetside parking. Springdale Road has wide bike lanes with traffic calming measures along this stretch, so it seems like a good cycling destination as well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bambino. According to their website, they opened in March 2024, so as I write this they're new on the Austin restaurant scene. I wish them well and thank them for an excellent meal! read more

The mozzarella sticks and fried olives are a delicious way to start the meal and the frozen affogato reminds me of something I had in Rome. I've been in twice now, both times for a quick snack & glass of wine. The space is open comfortable and clean. The patio is sizable & lovely. I ate at the bar both times as a solo diner. On my first trip I had the Cesar salad and it was excellent! So was AJ, who was behind the bar that day. He made me feel really welcome and struck the perfect balance between making small talk & giving me space to scroll on my phone and sip my wine. Today i stopped in again & I had the mozzarella sticks & they were just what I wanted. Made in house, and bigger than average. They were cheesy & crispy, you can choose your dipping sauce, I got the marinara and it was perfection! I can't wait to come back with my family for a full meal! From the moment I stepped through the door, I felt like I was being taken advantage of. Firstly, the concept of a counter order pizza restaurant demanding tips is absurd. Tipping is for exceptional service, not for simply receiving your order at a counter. Yet here I was, standing in line to order my pizza, only to have mandatory gratuity added. Even filled up my own $6 fountain soda like I was at Burger King. It felt like a cheap ploy to extract more money from customers who were already paying exorbitant prices for subpar food. And they have a SERIOUS bar and cocktail repertoire. I originally came with a friend during their normal times and came back for happy hour (pizzas 1/2 off and heavily discounted frozen drinks and beer & wine). I'll def be back. Settled right on Springdale Road in East Austin, Bambino is offering a charming, elevated casual take on delicious pizza. With a flavorful and creative menu, it was hard to decide what to indulge upon! The employees greeted us warmly, and when we prompted them with recommendation requests, they happily obliged and steered us in the right direction. To start, we got the beets and brittle. This dish was delicious. Packed with a bright citrus note from the orange, it paired delightfully with the soft beets, and the pistachio crumbles on top was an incredibly unique surprise which elevated the dish to new levels. For pizza, we went with the Joe Mars and the Little Stinker. The Joe Mars had not one, but TWO types of pepperoni! However, the star of this dish was the ricotta cheese that was squirted on to the pizza like little dollops of heaven. The ricotta brought a creamy, flavorful punch to the pizza which paired nicely with the basil garnishes and drizzle of hot honey. The little stinker was anything but a stinker. It was a beautiful light and savory pizza perfect for the summertime. Literally made an account to review this place. You walk in and pay at the counter and you're hit with a 20% service fee right off the bat before you even get a chance to try the food or sit down. They say this is so they can pay their employees fairly, when I asked one of the employees about it they admitted they were struggling to get 20 hours a week even though they were hired as full time. The prices are insanely high for what you're getting. I've seen other reviews saying the same thing and the owner always says come back during happy hour. I ordered one pizza, a soda, and a small salad. After the mandatory 20% my bill was over fifty dollars. I couldn't imagine bringing my whole family here. The pizza is okay at best but nothing to get excited about. The specialty pizzas are overly complicated and full of ingredients that come off as pompous and unnecessary.
